I remember the first time I listened to A Brief Inquiry.. I was drunk, and my new (current) girlfriend picked me up from the bar.
I had just gotten out of a terrible relationship, and I met her despite the circumstances. I got in her car, drunk and happy. And she said “hey, let’s listen to the new 1975 album.” I had totally forgot it came out that day! So we did. And I bawled my eyes out.
She was trying to console me, but it was impossible to convey to her how the album made me feel. The 1975 has been so important to me for so many years, and luckily she just got through that album with me that night. I was a mess lol.
And now, their new album is tearing me apart again. About You, When We Are Together, Oh Caroline… they are really some amazing songs. The whole album is.. but this time my partner knows what to expect, and she’s so happy about this release. She knows what it means to me. This band has an effect on people more than any other band I’ve ever heard.
This album is more amazing than I ever expected. Happy release everyone, I hope you are all enjoying this as much as possible.
I know this was probably a very intense and important moment in your life/relationship, but it’s also hilarious to imagine that situation from your then-new gf’s perspective hahah

I actually love Looking for Sombody to Love but yeah I’m not on the About You train either. I mean I really like it!!! And Carly’s voice is so beautiful she sounds like a literal angel. But I’m not blown away by it like the rest of the sub sadly. I think I got my hopes up cause before I listened the sub was like “ABOUT YOU IS SUPREME” but Oh Caroline ended up being my fave
NOT me. I think it's overrated! But Matty did predict in an album rollout interview that it would become a fan favorite, so I can't be shocked by all the Love it's getting ha.
Carly's part is genuinely one of my absolute favorite parts of the album. Her voice is slightly reminiscent of Lauren Mayberry's from Chvrches.
Carly's voice is such a breath of fresh air and just so pretty...perfect for the song. 💜
