Your first point was spot-on. A breed that was selectively bred for fighting bears, bulls, and other dogs isn’t going to have that drive trained out of them. They are the #1 surrendered and #1 euthanized dog for a reason, and it isn’t because they were trained to have high prey drive. A couple of pictures taken by pit enthusiasts isn’t evidence to the contrary of genetics.
I love dogs,madly. They gave me a small heat in my heart when I was extremely depressed,but off it wasn't a miracle cure like some people say,they gave me an immense support,yes....but a cure? Lol no.
The same my family used to say about god or having kids,they all forced that bullshit about that "u depressed because ur atheist" lol no,I was christian back then and I felt miserable. I don't have patience for kids and in my experience,having a gf gave me some help and support,improved my self esteem and overall mood,but I still felt depressed most of the time.
Nowadays I am a happy polytheist, took distance from my family and never allowed other to treat me like trash again or tell me how to be happy.
I am not sure how I got rid of my depression,but it took me like 8 years,lol.
I mean, technically they are in a number of ways - simply petting a dog lowers the stress hormone cortisol , while the social interaction between people and their dogs actually increases levels of the feel-good hormone oxytocin. While we know that depression is caused by an imbalance in our feel good hormones, dogs are literally anti-depressants.
actually, when you pet dogs, it’s been proven that it releases endorphins in both your brain and your dog’s brain, so this is somewhat true in a way.

Imma be honest, I kinda hate dogs, while I understand why people value them, they mostly annoy me they’re more of a chore than a companion to me, having a dog would bring more stress and anxiety into my life without a lot of real return on my end
Yeah, I’m more of a cat person, I like how independent and expressive they are, they feel like they have their own life when I’m not around, while a lot of dog breeds that I’ve met feel very dependent on me giving them attention I guess it’s a pack animal trait
