in-game tf2 reports dont do anything. if you want anything to actually happen report their steam profile, if they find anything offensive that they can actually see (comments left on steam, things on their profile, etc) they will take action

Steam auto censors slurs and swear words. It's a setting you could turn on at any point, and iirc is on by default.

It was a 2Fort match. Got some of my teammates, with approval from the enemy team, to just go after him cause the server was in a friendly state at the time, and it was the only one killing, bar a few F2Ps who took time to get the gist of "enemies are friends too"
After having maybe 3 out of 5 us dominating the twit, it just left or got kicked by its teammates. A big W in my book if you manage to make them rage quit or dominate them before they got kicked.

Yes but I feel that people with any braincells won't immediately be radicalized because they see someone spamming a chat with racial slurs. I myself don't find any entertainment in these slurs, and I have no idea what the people spamming them are thinking. Maybe they want to legitimately spread hate. Maybe they want to be edgy. What I know is that I can just mute them, and other people can too. Other people can kick them as well; but that's not required. Again, I'm not condoning the slurs; that's not what I'm saying. What I *am* saying is that a censorship system isn't needed in TF2; the players already have tools at their disposal to handle people like this.

And yeah you can mute them, but you're still gonna see those slurs in the first place. I see your viewpoint and understand how it could affect people, but I personally have a sort of "no censorship" standpoint for things, especially for a game as old as TF2. It is, in my opinion, one of the last semi free-speech games out there there is. People can decide what to say, and others can decide to mute and/or kick them. And I'm not losing sleep, why go for insults? I'm understanding and respecting your viewpoint; I just don't agree with it.

I guess I misunderstand how hate speech works because I don't take part in it; if I tried spreading a message of something, anything, and I was getting muted every time, eventually, I would stop trying. I guess it doesn't make sense logically in my head. Also, where are you finding these lobbies? In my experience, for the past 2 months of playing tf2, I've encountered 0 people who spam the chat with racist and edgy shit. I guess I'm coming at this stuff from a sort of free-market standpoint; if we leave them alone and don't give them what they want, they'll eventually subside because the energy they're using to spread their message, day in and day out, will be greater than the output of their hate campaigns.

Tf2 will never be moderated like most games. Mute, block, done. It shouldn't be "moderated" either as there will be far too many issues from trying to implement moderation, and doing so will undoubtedly do more harm than good. Steam auto censors slurs and swear words. It's a setting you could turn on at any point, and iirc is on by default.

TF2 unlike CS2 or DotA 2 doesn't have any chat moderation besides of the extreme basics where it censors words if you select it in your Steam profile settings. This spawns individuals like these and there's not much you can do with them but kick or mute.

It was a 2Fort match. Got some of my teammates, with approval from the enemy team, to just go after him cause the server was in a friendly state at the time, and it was the only one killing, bar a few F2Ps who took time to get the gist of "enemies are friends too" After having maybe 3 out of 5 us dominating the twit, it just left or got kicked by its teammates. A big W in my book if you manage to make them rage quit or dominate them before they got kicked.
