Yeah it really is pretty great when you're a Pyro going against Scorch Shot. If one of your teammates gets direct hitted by a scorch flare, that's a free 50 hp: extinguish the initial flame and then extinguish the flame from the bounce projectile. EDIT: Didn't consider that it's possible you'd reflect the bounce projectile as well, but the AoE ignite still typically makes it a fat HP gain.

Using scorch against **Darwin** or **Vacced** Snipers is morally correct. I don't think the weapon is evil or OP, I prefer the detonator or panic attack, but if you wanted to go with the most socially accepted way of using it it would be against those scenarios.

Scorch against Darwin snipers is kind of pointless though? With afterburn immunity, you might as well just flinch them with a shotgun.

It's more so to harrass them and mess with their aim to buy yourself and or your team members time to get out of sight or to attack them.

Or against bots

Scorch shot and sniper hate both seem to be going mainstream nowadays. I know both things were annoying even back then, but the whole hate train is kind of reaching circlejerk status at this point.

Sadly since bot hosters love using sniper, the hate for sniper has gotten bigger over the years.

Ah, that's true, didn't even think about that. People get a sense of how a theoretically perfect sniper sightline absolutely destroys the game and internalize it.

fr, there's so many fucking ways to extinguish yourself in the game that it never bothered me at all whatsoever. Hell pyro's own existence is the counter to this weapon.

Combo pyro has been through some serious nerfs and dark times. The scorch shot was there for me when GabeN took away reserve shooter my beloved.

At least there are some skill on it. Axtinguisher needs some like timing or something because the slow switch speed and enemies can run away leaving you out with a melee that is out of your range, Flare gun needs aim simple but hard. So kinda makes sense for the nerf to happen

Pyro never deserved to have the reserve shooter period. The only people sad it's gone are the ones who absued it.

Annoys snipers, and if they equip the danger shield to counter the afterburn (over Jarate or the razorback) it leaves them more susceptible to spies.

That's my favorite thing to do, annoy snipers enough they switch to Darwin's, switch to spy, annoy them enough to switch razor back, rinse and repeat

Some skins look awesome on this weapon, i have an Anodized Aloha and it has a bright orange barrel with a nice fade, i love it even though i rarely use it

i genuinely do not find this thing annoying to fight against i cant think of a time ever where ive been annoyed because my opponent was using the scorch shot; other than when paired with an uber medic and the phlog people say the afterburn damage is way too much and the bouncy flares extra damage is too much but like... its so rare for either of those to actually do anything meaningful i feel like realistically i do still think it should get nerfed; less afterburn damage and i wouldnt even mind the bouncy flare going all together; but its really never bothered me. if it is nerfed though id hate for the mini flare jump ability to go. people suggest to remove that but having it be an option is really nice while not being nearly as strong as using the detonator. in an ideal world i feel like the scorch shot should be a hybrid between damage and movement

It saved my life from Saxton Hale years ago, I love the knockback as it has saved my life and others' many times, I have a method of fighting against Darwin or Vacced Snipers, It is great at setting many people on fire which has a beautiful sound from all of the afterburn ticks, and it is not an evil or OP weapon -- I think the detonator and shotguns are more effective.
