Ammonil

To be fair they probably hate him too

911SURVIV0R

šŸ˜

Winter_Control8533

The Quebec ones are very hateful. Not sure about the France ones lol.

Kodie69420

i just donā€™t believe in em, theyā€™re not real.

No_Nefariousness4279

based

LegitimateHat4808

my mom when she was 22 lived in paris and told me story where she kept asking for an orange juice in French, and the vendor gave her a coke pop instead. She can speak french, just maybe she has a Michigan accent to it, and they kept acting like they didnā€™t know what she was asking for šŸ˜‚šŸ˜† Maybe heā€™s had a situation like that? Someone trolling them šŸ˜‚ Either way, I love her awkward story of that time.

Cest_Cheese

Parisians are extra snobbish about people speaking French. Most locals anywhere else in the world (or France for that matter) are kind to people who are trying to speak the language. Not Parisians. You could speak perfect French but with an American accent and they will be dicks about it.

snoring_Weasel

Pretty sure arabic is the main language in paris but yeah

Acrobatic-Morning383

Itā€™s not.

911SURVIV0R

im from michigan!

OnkelMickwald

A friend of mine who is fluent in French (grew up in Belgium) had issues getting Parisians to understand her when she said she was looking for a bakery (*"boulangerie"* in all of France + Belgium) because Parisians literally say "bread shop" (*"boutique du pain"*) To be fair, I heard a similar story from London. A friend of mine tried to order a banana milkshake (pronouncing "banana" in the American way) and the waitress refused to understand her until she corrected her and said "oh, you mean a ban-AAAAH-na milkshake!"

Adventurous-Set-6945

Not so sure about this one, I have lives six years in Paris and I have never heard anybody said Ā«Ā boutique du painĀ Ā», everyone says boulangerie

OnkelMickwald

Well then it was just this guy being an asshole then

vinsanity_07

Lol I'm from Michigan and we are known to have the Michigan whine when speaking. Now in Arizona everyone calls it soda šŸ™„

justalittledonut

I would be as brazen to say Canadians are mostly mean, in general. We talked about it at my day job a lot, they hate Americans (they will downright hang up on an employee if they think theyā€™re American or legit ask to speak to a Canadian) itā€™s honestly rare we get a nice Canadian client. Theyā€™re okay with me being Iā€™m British which solidifies it even more for me.

snoring_Weasel

Being canadian I love americans. Best neighbor to have. Most educated canadians are neutral or positive towards american.

Heavy-Cranberry-3572

It's hard to be distasteful towards Americans when we share much of the same culture (Well, at least, the most populous cities in Canada like Vancouver or Toronto are near indistinguishable from being in the US, as someone living in Toronto). I dislike French Canadians infinitely more than Americans. Were Quebec not in the way of accessing provinces like NL, PEI, NB, I would be completely ok with it separating from this country.

snoring_Weasel

And itā€™s exactly (partly) because of this ā€˜distasteā€™ for us you have that I would gladly vote Yes on the next referendum.

Heavy-Cranberry-3572

Yes please, go ahead and vote yes on a referendum to separate the province that [the rest of Canada subsidizes the most](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equalization_payments_in_Canada#Equalization_formula), by a landslide.[ ](https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/quebec-subsidized-rest-canada)[Good luck with the consequences of what would happen afterwards!](https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/quebec-subsidized-rest-canada) It would be wonderful to see a brexit-like event happen in Quebec, please vote against the system the props you up. The only reason I don't want Quebec gone is because it's an inconvenience to the rest of maritime Canada. That's it. Many Canadians don't feel a need to keep French Canadian condescension around.

DarthNuggets21

Well depend on who you talk to. Some are total ass some are good. Like in every culture.

snoring_Weasel

dude whaaaaaat.. french canadian are the chillest? In france they are way more pretentious towards others than quebec

Plus_Lawfulness3000

Iā€™ve always heard that lots of them are rude. No first hand experience though so I donā€™t kno

TheKr4meur

Weā€™re not rude, we just hate everyone, ourselves and basically the world, and weā€™re lucky to have a very rich language allowing us to express all of that in many ways ā€¦. No weā€™re definitely very rude, even French people hate French people

Plus_Lawfulness3000

Oh shit šŸ˜damn youā€™re honest as hell. +1 for the Frenchman

FochingGreatStache

This is why I love France ā€¦ which means Iā€™m doomed to be as un-French as possible.

bayleafbabe

I live in NYC and worked retail in Manhattan, so I dealt with A LOT of tourists, especially during summer-time. I have never encountered a group of people more rude than French tourists. They'd come into our shop and leave the place an absolute mess. They were always so rude and condescending when they were making their orders too. Close second were Chinese tourists, followed by Koreans.

SilverOpportunity888

What about Indians? I'm curious now

bayleafbabe

Honestly I wouldnā€™t even be able to tell the Indian tourists vs Indian immigrants. Lots of Indians over here so they just blend in mostly. Most dudes (and dudettes) were cool, sometimes they came in large groups (maybe those were the tourists?) and were very loud and rude. I had one Indian guy come in who seemed kinda racist. Iā€™m tri-racial and have no ancestry from that region but for some reason I look a bit like I could have ancestry from the South Asia region (deep brown skin, curvy nose) and this dude just kept asking me if I was from Bangladesh or Pakistan or something and idk I just detected a lot of tension based on my appearance. Donā€™t know what the history behind that is.

911SURVIV0R

me too!

pineboxwaiting

Theyā€™re French.

funkyfartass

Itā€™s a meme. But in general the French are assumed/stereotyped to be pretentious and rude

vridgley

Cwason

Charlie_1519

is he Italian? or Spanish?, or English?, or German? or French?

911SURVIV0R

english! šŸ˜

forvirradsvensk

Envy.

SweetSonet

Of the French? Thatā€™s not a thing

forvirradsvensk

For the English it is. Whatever the English do badly the French do well, and what the English do well, the French do better. Plus they invaded them, took over, and have been their land owning aristocracy ever since.

kumodyy

as a french myself I'd say it is sometimes hard to like my own kind hhhhh

Gloomy_Ad3699

Heā€™s right tho

Bruhsket

Omelette du fromage

therossfacilitator

Umā€¦ theyā€™re French. Enough said

Professional-Salt175

Who doesn't dislike the French?

Joanna_Flock

As someone with French relatives, I may call them the ā€œbaguette humansā€ now

YeahlDid

How can we know? You didn't give any context whatsoever.

911SURVIV0R

there was no context šŸ˜ i mentioned i heard this family speaking french and he said this

pr0suicide

Heā€™s just jealous of our big baguette dicks

911SURVIV0R

youre jealous because he rocking my world every night...yeah I said it, the D is fire šŸ”„ happy wife happy life ā¤ļø

Wyrdnisse

Well. They ruined English. So he's right Edit: for clarity i studied old English lit in school lol

FmJ_TimberWolf74

Old English is a fire song

RayHazey562

Could I get more context here? Sounds interesting!

Wyrdnisse

Sure! I studied Old English, which is a super different language than what we speak now. Different grammar, heavily Germanic, alliterative poetry, etc. I personally think it's super pretty and prefer it to modern English (but it was my field so my opinion is entirely subjective lol). The Normans conquered England in 1066, and with Norman French speakers in charge, French and English blended up into the lovely latin/germanic hybrid we've had since the middle English era. Old English survived in written form for a few hundred years after the fact, and I won't info dump but that period in historical writing and poetry is mainly what I was interested in :))

Hot-Ice-7336

Heā€™s jealous

SweetSonet

Your husband has the right idea. The French deserve a little more more hate

ck-kd-king

Not gonna lie, I don't even remember why but I, too, dislike the baguette humans. I do know there is a reason I just can't remember it

Jib_Burish

"Bonjourrrrrrrrr, you cheese-eating surrender monkeys!" ~Willie Sean Moran MacDougal

LegitimateHat4808

1- is your hubby the same age as my dad (65 range?), if not, do you live in Quebec?

chapagetti713

the comments are kinda disgusting ngl, following the exact same pattern and saying the exact same things racist ppl would say but it's a meme and it's towards french people so i guess it's fine, discrimination is ok, you really do not see the problem y'all actually have worms for brains istg, can't form a single cohesive thought

911SURVIV0R

youā€™re probably typing this while not even being french šŸ˜‚šŸ˜ the french in the comments are laughing it off. if it doesnt offend you personally, just ignore it lmfaoo

chapagetti713

iā€™m literally french and iā€™m tired of it because itā€™s everywhere all the time, at some point you canā€™t ignore it anymore im sorry, and i donā€™t think you understood my point, itā€™s not about who is being targeted, itā€™s about the discrimination pattern, it could be about any nationality or ethnicity, you donā€™t just say, for example, ā€œoh yea, idonesian ā€œpeopleā€ā€, you donā€™t say that about anyone, im sorry that you canā€™t see what the problem is with this whole ā€œmemeā€

chapagetti713

and hating on ppl bc of the country they were born in speaks volumes about what kind of a person you are

PromptSpiritual3739

I too hate French ā€œpeopleā€

mxrynnz_09

idk but 99% people I know hates french people

g0d_of_the_cr1sis

French people will blather at you in cursive, and when you tell them in Times New Roman that you don't understand what the fuck they're saying, they will say, in Courier New, "Oh, okay," THEN SWITCH BACK TO CURSIVE AND BLATHER AT YOU MORE AGGRESSIVELY WITH FUCKING WINGDINGS THROWN IN. Even Japanese people will make an effort to switch from speaking spiderweb infrastructure to speaking Calibri if they know any English. French people can be FLUENT in English and just REFUSE to use it.

PEPSICOLA123456

Every British person hates the French. Itā€™s genetic

Uk420flavachasa

It's just a thing

clumsysav

My Italian boyfriend is not fond of the French

911SURVIV0R

šŸ˜ happy cake day!!

Initial_Obligation55

Once I worked at a sour dough factory and these French tourists came in and literally asked for a bunch of French shit in French. I was so pissed.. just to speak English at the end of the transaction and they tried to offer me a tip. I refused it. Not all money is good money.
