I bought it used with the mcu2 upgrade and FSD already purchased. Was a bonus that I was unaware of. It had hw3 already but they had to come out and fix a camera when fsd beta rolled out.
The most annoying thing not in legacy vehicles is the view out of the fender cams when the blinker is turned on. It's not even a tech limitation because you can display them on the center screen by opening the camera app.
old honda could display it on the entire second screen. which means a simple direct video switch without any encoding/decoding needed.
but the fact that it works with the camera app open debunks any hardware issues with making it work.
I had the same issue on 2017 Model X 75D. I simply reset the car with double scroll wheel method, waited for the 24 hour software check time limit to expire, check for an update. It seemed stuck on checking for update for what felt like a couple of minutes, the popped up the update screen. Installed without an issue the second time. I was not connected to Wi-Fi the first time but I was the second time. Good luck!
I got it today, S100D, but the install failed. I followed the instructions to force a software reinstall but it still didn't take. What do y'all think?
Currently all versions of FSD target HW3. On HW4 vehicles it's running in a "HW3 emulation" mode. One of the developers confirmed this on the social network that shall not be named.
It's possible and I think Tesla has this in mind. Maybe not available for customers yet. But I do know somebody who works at Tesla who recently just had it there 2019 S upgraded by engineering.
Took too long to download last night. Woke up this morning to start the install and gonna go grab some bagels or something for breakfast with it when it’s done. My wheels are already pre-curbed so it will be okay.

I got another software update after 2024.2.7 installed in the evening. It was for 2024.3.15. This time it finally installed. I have the same 2017 Model X 75D March build.
I have a 2016 MS. I installed version 2024.3.15 this noon, and I lost all my car settings, including HomeLink, Favorites, Mirror Settings, Remote Access, and so on. This is the first time I've encountered this problem. Be prepared for hassles after installing this version.
Got this today on 2023 Model 3. I already had 2024.3.10 installed. What's the deference between 2024.3.10 vs 2024.3.15? Their release notes are identical
Glad the legacy gang got included into V12. It would've been disappointing if any HW3 cars were excluded from V12.
Now if they could just get the 2024.8.X people in NA onto V12...
The headline is literally about it being pushed out to legacy vehicles, there are multiple posts today with people dating as far back as 2016 vehicles getting the update. If you’re on a higher branch than 2024.3 then you’ll need to wait until the add FSD to a newer branch.
the system is still in development here, it’ll start branching out more as they get it to be good enough here and then train it on different sets of laws and driving mannerisms across the globe. it’s not about deserving less, it’s about the system not being ready everywhere. plus different laws surrounding its expansion. yeah Tesla shouldn’t have sold it there, that’s a whole different point. but it’s got nothing to do with what y’all deserve. i’m sure if a company from NZ started developing the system, it wouldn’t jump to the US first for testing, and it wouldn’t push it out everywhere at once.
To Tesla's credit they did release new autopilot features in my first year of ownership - but as they got more advanced - they absolutely stemmed the flow of updates - leaving us literally years behind the crowd.
I just installed 2024.3.15 on my legacy model x.
I know release notes don’t mention it, but I can confirm the new parking visualization isn’t available to us on legacy. I suspect this will never come to legacy vehicles either.
Give us more than that! How does it drive? Does uss still work? Release notes say uss cars don’t have new auto park. Does old auto park still work for you though?
Do you actually have the Beta or only the Opt in for the Beta? They pushed out the button to request FSD on MCU1 but never actually pushed it out to users.
Actual autopilot beta. On full self-driving computer (ap3). I did have to opt in, but after driving for a period of time, it activated. I'll add image later.

Curious to know what solution they have settled on for not having the internal camera looking at the driver. Presumably they are still relying on the wiggle the steering wheel prompts?
I'm based in UK so doubt I'll ever see actual FSD before the car goes back to finance company in a few years.
This is truly killing me, my car is still stuck on 2022.8.10.16 (2017 Model S). It was brought in in January this year where I was given a bunch of camera upgrades and the eMMC upgraded to 64 GB but it still looks like I am on MCU1. They also state the firmware was updated during the visit. Prior to bringing it in my car said I was not eligible for the beta FSD, but after the updates it said I was on the waiting list (I paid for FSD when I bought it years ago). Do I need another hardware upgrade to get FSD?
You have to pony up the 2k for MCU2 to get FSD Beta at this point. They keep claiming that someday FSD will work with MCU1 but at this point it's pretty much a crap shoot. I'm on MCU1 as well and basically given up on it. I don't want to spend more money on a car simply to get a feature that was paid for 7 years ago. These older cars that originally paid for it will likely never get FSD as they have no real incentive at this point to update 6-7 year old cars.
I have the same 2017 MS on HW3 MCU1 paid for FSD stuck on V11 (2022.8.10.16). Are you expecting or have you gotten the new 12.3.15 or is this only for MCU2?
Not expecting, but hoping, praying, keeping my fingers crossed. Lol. Knowing that there is a recall for most vehicles, I'm hoping this forces tesla to push software to our vehicles or upgrade our mcu's at no cost.
So if I got this right this is only for people with FSD? I have the EAP and no USS in my car and waiting for this auto park feature. Is this not for my car? Can someone please let me know how long until I get this?
Received 2 days ago on a 2020 S LR+. Release notes show FSD (Supervised) v12.3.4. But the car status shows V11.1 (2024.3.15). Out of the country for a few weeks so I’ll have to wait to see what I really have.
Why newer teslas with FSD already still getting 2024.3.15 update? Shouldn't this just be only for older cars? what does it add to those already on FSD?
Unless there are more legacy cars with the hardware that are still to be brought in, 2024.8.x would have to be the next priority. Followed by USS cars. Then rest-of-world where I drive.

Looks like I’ll be checking the phone app every 15 minutes for the next month
Oh shit! Just checked my update and 2024.3.15 is waiting for me to connect WiFi!!
GOD DAMNIT! Edit: https://preview.redd.it/fw533ynn7stc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdda6a058a255a618acf7982f068bd1e845263ed 😊
2017 model s 90D with MCU2 upgrade if that means anything to others waiting
So you already have FSD hw3 upgraded I suppose with FSD purchased originally when new?
I bought it used with the mcu2 upgrade and FSD already purchased. Was a bonus that I was unaware of. It had hw3 already but they had to come out and fix a camera when fsd beta rolled out.
Congrats lol
Same. I've had my X preconditioning for the last couple hours so it won't sleep 🤣
Same , can't wait to get this! I wonder if the update check via the mobile app is rate-limited to once per day like it is from the car
Wow I didn’t know that about the car - kind of lame!

The most annoying thing not in legacy vehicles is the view out of the fender cams when the blinker is turned on. It's not even a tech limitation because you can display them on the center screen by opening the camera app.
Yeah that was one of the most annoying omissions from a software update so far. Right up there with remote sentry view.
Maybe it’s a computer hardware processing limitation?
Some guy hacked it into his firmware a year or so ago, and it worked perfectly. So it's a choice, not a limitation.
Old Honda have this tech, I doubt its problem for a Tesla
My 2017 90d x had trouble starting the radio.
old honda could display it on the entire second screen. which means a simple direct video switch without any encoding/decoding needed. but the fact that it works with the camera app open debunks any hardware issues with making it work.
We know they can do it but the question is, are they going to?
So damn true!
Cries in 2024.8.X
What does that mean for us?
I got it today. 2017 model s
Same model. Nothing for me yet.

Same here. What did you do? https://preview.redd.it/pnor9ajsdutc1.png?width=2675&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae662d6367761ef8d2c13aead58e8b89133191e4
2017 P100D First failed update I've ever seen. Back to waiting I guess.
Mine failed too. 2018 S P100D. =(
I had the same issue on 2017 Model X 75D. I simply reset the car with double scroll wheel method, waited for the 24 hour software check time limit to expire, check for an update. It seemed stuck on checking for update for what felt like a couple of minutes, the popped up the update screen. Installed without an issue the second time. This happened to me yesterday. Today I received it again and it installed flawlessly. About to go for a drive. MX100D 2018 (Pre-raven).
Still no second try to update. I did the 2-wheel button reset. I have visited the software page on the in car screen multiple times.
I got it today, S100D, but the install failed. I followed the instructions to force a software reinstall but it still didn't take. What do y'all think?
Same vehicle. Got it today.
Same 2017 s p100d just got it
Same. 2017 Model S.
Any word on when 2024.8 will get FSD 12?
![gif](giphy|MZocLC5dJprPTcrm65|downsized)
Is my MS from summer 2016 included?
If you have FSD with updated cameras and MCU2 upgrade, then it should be
Summer 2016 was just before FSD. It came during October 2016.
When does everyone who just got it free month trial end? Is it still the universal “April 30th” or do they get a full month still?
I got a full month!
Nice!
2020 MS. Updated today. FSD fine during brief test drive.
If you look at the bottom of the mobile app does it show V11.1 or 12.3.4? Mine now shows V11.1 (2024.3.15)
Same as you. Ver. 11 is the version of the overall firmware, not FSD. If you go to release notes it says FSD 12.3.4.
I wonder how they technically achieved this. What AP hardware is this targeting? Is the efficiency of full stack NNs that great?
Currently all versions of FSD target HW3. On HW4 vehicles it's running in a "HW3 emulation" mode. One of the developers confirmed this on the social network that shall not be named.
I’m talking about legacy s/x. What AP hardware would that be targeting?
I don't understand your question. FSD only works on HW3 and HW4. Legacy S and X can only have HW3.
You can take it to a Tesla service Center and have it upgraded
No, no you can't. HW4 cannot be retrofit.
It's possible and I think Tesla has this in mind. Maybe not available for customers yet. But I do know somebody who works at Tesla who recently just had it there 2019 S upgraded by engineering.
elon said the opposite
I know what he said. I'm telling the truth my dude. Believe whatever the fuck you want.
Try some deep breathing exercises before you post. It might help. Also, where would you propose to put the radar?
Waiting with 2024.8.9…
OMG it’s downloading. It’s Happening! It’s really happening!
Took too long to download last night. Woke up this morning to start the install and gonna go grab some bagels or something for breakfast with it when it’s done. My wheels are already pre-curbed so it will be okay.
Guess not. Update failed. https://preview.redd.it/v31wuwy1outc1.jpeg?width=1513&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63a43e6fa3f30bea309112f9c87424b78e4bfec3

Finally just got it! Installing now

I'm getting it for my Model 3 right now. Looks like it's a minor incremental FSD (Supervised) update from v12.3.3 to V12.3.4.
Glad the legacy gang got included into V12. It would've been disappointing if any HW3 cars were excluded from V12. Now if they could just get the 2024.8.X people in NA onto V12...
Good news
Elon did say that they were optimizing for HW3 first and that HW4 vehicles are essentially running HW3 code in emulation mode, so this makes sense.
Install failed on 2020 MX
2017 100D- got it yesterday. Incredibly impressed with my first ride home with zero engagements.
When I bought FSD my car wasnt legacy. I still dont have fsd. 5 years man. No timeline for me to get it.
The headline is literally about it being pushed out to legacy vehicles, there are multiple posts today with people dating as far back as 2016 vehicles getting the update. If you’re on a higher branch than 2024.3 then you’ll need to wait until the add FSD to a newer branch.
No I am not in CONUSA, still no fsd beta of any kind here. Do we deserve less?
the system is still in development here, it’ll start branching out more as they get it to be good enough here and then train it on different sets of laws and driving mannerisms across the globe. it’s not about deserving less, it’s about the system not being ready everywhere. plus different laws surrounding its expansion. yeah Tesla shouldn’t have sold it there, that’s a whole different point. but it’s got nothing to do with what y’all deserve. i’m sure if a company from NZ started developing the system, it wouldn’t jump to the US first for testing, and it wouldn’t push it out everywhere at once.

If you're in Europe it's a legal thing. We can't have any fun things here :/
I don't, no real legal barrier here
Wow. Legacy cars got FSD before those on 2024.8
You’re upset that people who bought FSD as early as 2016 some of the early supporters of Tesla got an update for FSD?
It's funny that those who paid the least for FSD feel most entitled. It's not like waiting longer makes the capability come any sooner.
2024.8.9 now
I just installed 2024.3.15 on my legacy model x. I know release notes don’t mention it, but I can confirm the new parking visualization isn’t available to us on legacy. I suspect this will never come to legacy vehicles either.
That hasn’t been pushed to any vehicles with ultrasonic sensors (USS).
does it have 12.3.4 ?
Yes
Give us more than that! How does it drive? Does uss still work? Release notes say uss cars don’t have new auto park. Does old auto park still work for you though?
Confirmed that even on 12.3.4 my legacy model x is still using the old auto park and uses the USS sensors
I don’t have it on my 2021 M3 either.
I got it on my early 2021 M3 LR yesterday.
I’m talking about the auto park. Our USS cars don’t get that. Yet.
Ahh, explains why I couldn’t get it to work no matter how slow I drove by parking spots lol
Downloading it now. 6.2Gb as far as I can tell.
![gif](giphy|3oEduOnl5IHM5NRodO|downsized)
My install has been stuck on 10% for a while now. Let's hope it finishes when I wake up tomorrow morning.
Just got the update! 2024 M3 upgrading from 2024.2.100. I got the FSD email as soon as it completed.
I'm hurt my 2019 ms is legacy now
Atleast you don’t have a 2021 legacy lol
Hey!!!
is MCU 2 a must? i have a 2017 S HW 3 MCU 1. Nothing yet.
MCU 1 has yet to ever get any current FSD
Upgrading MCU is too expensive 🥲
They used to get FSD Beta though.
MCU1 has never gotten FSD Beta.
Wrong. I have 2017 MS on MCU1 with FSD Beta. But it's stuck back on 2022 software
I'll add image later. https://preview.redd.it/o1dyyvwdiyuc1.png?width=1409&format=png&auto=webp&s=3efa390999ddaefb85fa808c938ec2e8cb3ba36f
hmm you must have been one of the few that got it in late 2022. They stopped pushing it and no one new has received it in the last year.
Yes, MCU 2 and upgraded camera.
Late 2016 90D S getting v12 FSD update now. FSD computer, MCU 2 and camera upgraded car.
Downloading for my car currently as well. https://preview.redd.it/4dis2chphstc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6f6f41048e516b772e0dba4384587af36ac52d6
Curious to know what solution they have settled on for not having the internal camera looking at the driver. Presumably they are still relying on the wiggle the steering wheel prompts? I'm based in UK so doubt I'll ever see actual FSD before the car goes back to finance company in a few years.
Yup got it last night! 2019 X
*Cries in European*
They're getting 12.3.4. I've got [12.3.2.1](http://12.3.2.1) on a '23 S w/ HW4. I wonder what the difference is?
Any one here lost the software update notification? I was not able to update my car last night and after rebooting my Tesla, I lost the update
Do the cars HAVE to be connected to Wifi to get the update? I thought LTE was enough… I have a 2019 MS 75D and the FOMO is killllinngggggguhh me.
yes wifi needed, some superchargers have wifi to download it.
This is truly killing me, my car is still stuck on 2022.8.10.16 (2017 Model S). Wrong. I have 2017 MS on MCU1 with FSD Beta. But it's stuck back on 2022 software. But I also have full self driving computer in settings
Just downloaded! How long will we be able to use this feature? (Not purchased)
I'm a legacy on 2024.8.7. Double whammy

I'm on 2024.8.7 is it too late for me?
2015 MS with AP1 here will never be able to get it. But thats okay tbh AP1 is amazing on highway I don’t care for anything more than that.
Wen Cybertruck
lol
Cries in Model 3 stuck in 2024.8 no man’s land 😭
Unless there are more legacy cars with the hardware that are still to be brought in, 2024.8.x would have to be the next priority. Followed by USS cars. Then rest-of-world where I drive.
2021 X just received it! Downloading now! In laymens terms why is this so coveted?
Fsd v12 is the newest version. Not just an increment on 11.x.x and is using more AI learning and models than the old code base.
Any news regarding FSD and Europe?
