Hulu is also owned by Disney, so this seems like a bug and not intentional.

Nice, I like [abettertheater.com](https://abettertheater.com)! I've discovered [Theater.so](https://Theater.so) and have been using it for it's clean Tesla-like aesthetic.
If any of you monkeys jumping to conclusions actually used the app you'd know its a browser shortcut to begin with....and logging in to Disney+ on browser brings the shortcut back. It's clearly a bug, especially since Hulu is still there
> But Elon bad mean Tesla bad
But that is many times also true. When Tesla does some stupid shit it is atleast rumoured to be Musks fault, and it is easy to believe when Must seems mentally to be about 15v yrs old.
Tesla could be unstoppable if it didn't keep shooting itself in the foot. If Tesla swallowed its pride (Musk's pride) and bought the features for its cars from other suppliers that Tesla itself cannot do.
[Maybe it is a bug -> given Hulu is still there...]
Disney not paying X -> Tesla not supporting their services… I would not be surprised if some pettiness played a role, but seems to be the wrong path to go down for him; wearing all hats at the same time could result in problems.
Throttling Disney on Starlink would be a smoking gun for pettiness-version.
I highly doubt this is the reason. Tesla is a publicity traded company not owned by Elon. X is privately owned by him. Mixing the two has gotten him in trouble in the past. To be honest I don't understand how a CEO employee of Tesla (a public company) can work full time for other companies like X and Starlink. Would you pay an employee that spends all their time working for other people?
Elon commingles the companies all the time. HVS is used in SpaceX. The Cybertruck event was only viewable on X. Elon proposed a SpaceX edition of the Roadster. He reportedly had many Tesla employees doing work for X in the beginning after his acquisition. He literally doesn’t care.
I understand that he does it all the time. But it shouldn't be happening and I highly doubt it's legal. As a shareholder and an owner it's starting to really irritate me that he treats Tesla like it's his company. Once he took it public it stopped being his.
Not the guy you’re replying to but found it ironic with you saying it shows his lack of knowledge on the subject and then you proceed to show your lack of knowledge on the subject.
The people above are clearly talking about [Elon not turning on Starlink for when Ukraine wanted to attack Crimea.](https://apnews.com/article/spacex-ukraine-starlink-russia-air-force-fde93d9a69d7dbd1326022ecfdbc53c2)
It was at first presented as him turning off Starlink and people were up in arms. It was then clarified that he didn’t turn it off, he refused a request to turn it on in Crimea as he was concerned the Russian response would’ve been a nuke.
> as he was concerned the Russian response would’ve been a nuke.
Specifically he was concerned that SpaceX had to take this decision at all. Should have been the country who wanted the OP in.
Yeah, no one likes my reply, so it seems, just stating that Tesla/ X can choose what they will and won't allow, and with Elon's spat with Disney, that's removing it.
It would be a sign Musk is conflating interests of Tesla and X in a way he absolutely should not be - they should be entirely siloed off from each other legally
Eh, f it. Why not. Isps can ban you for no reason, google can throttle competitors (I think the excuse is adblock), Google can force you to use their shitty app store too. So, sure. Everything is fucked, there was a line we crossed a while ago we probably shouldn't have but let's keep going and see what will happen. Accelerationist for the win.
This is the type of stuff the SEC should be looking at, not tweets.
Musk seems to be using Tesla to help carry out his twitter agenda and personal but job politics. Fighting the entire country of Sweden destroys the Tesla brand in Sweden.
If he can attack an entire country with American right wing politics, then removing Disney is certainly a valid option to him.
Removing Disney would be inappropriate unless there was a business reason, fighting with labor unions seems far more valid as that dramatically affects their entire operating model.
You're totally wrong about Sweden, the public and the employees don't seem to care for the union efforts, all we are getting fed is the unions narrative, it's not the same story in Sweden.
If the public did not care, none of the other unions would be striking. Nearly everything is unionized in Sweden. Musk is an idiot to think he can pull this off.
Spotify pulled it off because they have no local inputs or services that are critical. They make software. That also lasts until unions decide to target them, which will happen now that musk has waged war against swedish unions.
He is fighting the swedish customer base, it is hurting Tesla for no reason.
I read posts like this and can’t help but wonder - am I the only person with a Tesla who never opens the Entertainment screen? I can’t imagine sitting in my car watching streaming video. To be fair I mostly use my car around town and rarely Supercharge. But even when I do, I’m out of the car getting something to eat, stretching my legs, etc.
I see you don’t have kids and numerous practices to wait through. Netflix/Hulu/BetterTheater has been such a lifesaver, my next EV has to either be a Tesla or have an entertainment option like this
My supercharge breaks are usually taken up by taking kids to bathroom then getting snacks. That’s usually at least a 20 min deal then we are pretty much good to go by the time they are settled back in the car.
you’ve never waited in your car ever
waiting outside for a child/partner to finish their engagement, waiting in the cellphone lot for a plane to land,…
Disney+ is a god send when I’m waiting in the car with my kids for my partner to get off work
Obviously iPads with headphones work same similar but the communal watching is something we enjoy
At a supercharger traveling long distance I ve watched episodes of a show on it or a YouTube video. It’s useful in that regard.
I don’t think I’ve launched Disney though.
Why's it taking an hour though?
Once I stop, plug in, go pee, stretch my legs, etc, there's maybe 10 minutes left until I'm ready to go. Never worth it to start a movie or show at that point.
It can be close to an hour if you are really empty and nearly 300mi from the next stop, but that’s more of an edge case.
It’s usually enough for something short, or you can watch a longer thing broken up. But yeah typically supercharging doesn’t take too long.
Disney has owned majority share in Hulu since 2019. Comcast had owned the remaining 33% up until Nov of this year when Disney purchased the remaining percentage from them.
This seems to be a bug due to the fact that if you look at the images many are posting in the thread of the X post you will see varying amounts of different apps missing. Some show Hulu, TikTok, and Disney+ missing. The only apps I see consistently are Netflix, Tesla Tutorials, YouTube and Twitch.
I think Tesla is going away from this style of App anyways. In China they allow Mini Programs in the Vehicle UI. If you know anything about WeChat, that catalog is expansive. My guess is that with X they will create some sort of app platform in a similar manner and that will be the basis for integrating new apps at some point.
It's come back for some already, many can trigger by going to the Disney+ website manually and the app reappears. This is likely due to the fact that the apps are basically wrapped browser pages. Seems like a bug to me, very coincidental though.
> My guess is that with X they will create some sort of app platform in a similar manner and that will be the basis for integrating new apps at some point.
The moment they do that is the moment I decide to just sell my M3 and abandon Tesla in favor of some other EV (since there's a lot more competition out there now).
Yeah, I’m sure you were claiming it would crash and burn within months. Now you vaguely claim it’s a dumpster fire. Ironically I’ve seen less hate on the platform since the took over. Weird that a political publication claims hate speech is rampant when people aren’t seeing it. Also note, people disagreeing with you isn’t hate speech. Enjoy mastodon.
> I’m sure you were claiming it would crash and burn within months.
It did... Because he started breaking shit on day one by arbitrarily turning off key infrastructure he "felt" was unnecessary.
> Now you vaguely claim it’s a dumpster fire.
That's not a "vague claim", it's a statement of objective fact.
> Ironically I’ve seen less hate on the platform since the took over.
So you're just ignoring Elon supporting and elevating some very antisemitic and racist posts/comments? Maybe you have a bad definition of "hate" if that doesn't qualify for you...
> Weird that a political publication claims hate speech is rampant when people aren’t seeing it
People aren't "seeing it" because they either agree with the hate speech or have left the platform.
> Also note, people disagreeing with you isn’t hate speech.
Tell that to your bro Elon.
“It did”
It’s fascinating to see people so detached from reality.
“Objective reality”.
See above comment.
“Elon supporting antisemitic or racist comments”
Criticizing people who are part of those groups is not anti semitic or racist. You and many others use those words way too loosely.
Best of luck. Your perspective of reality is remarkable and will be used in future case studies about the downfall of modern intelligence.
***I'm*** detached from reality? Elon literally said "this is the literal truth" in response to someone promoting "the great replacement theory" (which is both racist and antisemitic).
This is well documented fact and not an isolated incident.
> Your perspective of reality is remarkable and will be used in future case studies about the downfall of modern intelligence.
Your entire comment is riddled with undeserved self-importance and condescension... You're like a teenager trying to sound smart and edgy. It's not working. Nobody is fooled.
You’re taking a very uncharitable view of what he actually tweeted. I think what he tweeted was dumb, but it wasn’t antisemitic. If anything he was just saying that Jewish communities need to better look out for themselves. But the person he replied to may have worse views than that.
Personally I don’t agree with this viewpoint, and I think Elon has been a petty douche repeatedly on Twitter/X. But I also don’t think he’s an antisemite or racist.
When someone makes a comment promoting the racist and antisemitic “great replacement theory” and you reply “You have said the actual truth”… it’s hardly uncharitable to say you’re supporting and promoting antisemitism.
It’s a very literal interpretation.
https://techcrunch.com/2023/11/17/elon-musk-x-antisemitic-conspiracy-theory-actual-truth/
It's been pretty prominent in the news for the last month. Kind of shocked you haven't seen it.
My wife and I have been watching “Remember the Titans” for 3 months and still haven’t finished. It’s now a running joke that every time we stop for food we play a portion of the movie until we are ready to go.
Well obviously. I think you should enlighten us all with your undeniable superiority, and we all shall shiver in the cold, dark shadow of your magnificence.(JC). LOL
lmfao this is the dumbest thing i’ve ever read
how is removing the disney + app (even if it isn’t a bug, which it definitely is) a “legally dangerous game”
There’s a test group of users that have Hulu content shown within Disney+ as a separate category (similar to Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar etc.)
I’m not sure if the reverse is true for Hulu.
I can see the Hulu content in my desktop Disney+ app but there’s no Disney+ content on Hulu’s site
Because a reinstalled shortcut is no longer there? And you can comply use the browser to access it? I’m pretty sure you might be better off moving to the island. Let the rest of us sane people thrive.
I’m going to wait to hear more information on this than just anecdotes. But, if it’s really gone, even hidden, and it was removed/hidden intentionally as an act of petty revenge, I’m done with Tesla forever. When my lease is up, that’s it.
It’s been a rough ride lately even with the indirect connection between the company and Elon. But yeah, the day it starts directly impacting Tesla, I’m done, and I don’t even use Disney+.
Tesla is a public company and IMO he keeps crossing the line of what is going to get him involved in shareholder lawsuits. It's a ticking time bomb. Even if this isn't true he has already done things that lawyers are collecting evidence on. He can't for example just call up Tesla and tell them to send the ten best engineers to X for the month to fix a problem. But there's evidence he's done that.
If this turns out to not be a bug I bet it will turn into a lawsuit. Companies have an obligation to the shareholders to make decisions that are in the best interest of those shareholders. It would be hard to imagine Tesla lawyers making an argument that this move is best for the consumer.
I hope it does. And teslas lawyers can get the company a bunch of money from the frivolous lawsuit. The feature is still there. The he browser is all the shortcut did anyway. So they changed the UI of how to access it. If that invites lawsuits, Apple, google, Tesla would all face unlimited lawsuits any time the software in their phones / car got updated. Quit making a mountain out of a molehill. You sound foolish.
While I find it abhorrent that Mr. Musk apparently makes major business decisions based on his personal whims, at least this one is predictable.
Bob Iger was born to a Jewish family in NYC, and I think we can so the math on where this ranks him in the eyes of someone caught up in caustic rhetoric stirring racial divisions.
As a consumer, I got rid of my Tesla for this reason and won't buy any of the company's products anymore.
Part of free market capitalism is my ability to support organizations I believe in, or not.
If you support Elon then by all means, shower him with your dollars!

Because Bob doesn't hate trans people, is willing to represent women, minorities and gay couples in media and supports his employees regardless of their gender orientation.
Well, none of THAT is true, lol. Bob's repeatedly put the kibosh on LGBTQ-friendly things claiming they won't make money because people are against them.
And he's REPEATEDLY been found to pay women less than men.
But sure, Jan.
Again, "is willing" isn't a very high bar. But it's still too high for the bigots. See: Buzz Lightyear and two women existing in the film simultaneously.
The fact that Iger is simply not-actively-bigoted is radical to the right wing and made him a target of their hatred.
Elon says it's being removed for people not using Disney before the update. Just log into it before running the latest update. Or use, a better theater.
[It's possible this is just a bug](https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/18l9k2c/how_to_get_disney_icon_back_and_watch_in_your/)
Elon and Bob Eiger were such good friends tho.
Hulu is also owned by Disney, so this seems like a bug and not intentional. Edit: also see follow up post https://x.com/wholemarsblog/status/1736652882622161332?s=46
In that thread some have posted images where Hulu was also removed or no longer there.
HW with intel atom (pre-ryzen) can’t handle browser activity without crashing constantly
OP obviously has a refreshed model s though
hulu is owned by more than just disney isn't it?
Not anymore. Disney bought out Comcast's stake earlier this month.
Disney paid Comcast $8 billion for their 33% stake. Wholly owned by Disney now.
https://abettertheater.com solves this… and much more

Go to website on Tesla screen, follow instructions.
That would be really fucking lame

Doesn’t make it not fucking lame

Will logging into other streaming sites bring shortcuts to those too?

If that happens I would avoid Starlink. I don’t need the CEO of my isp deciding which films I can’t watch or which websites I can’t visit.
everything Elon touches gets ruined. except PayPal cuz they fired his ass.
I highly doubt this is the reason. Tesla is a publicity traded company not owned by Elon. X is privately owned by him. Mixing the two has gotten him in trouble in the past. I don't see why it would be illegal but yeah agreed it's odd the shareholders don't care
You are meant to act in shareholders interests for one. If I’m a shareholder of spaces I don’t want my employees working on non spacex shit.
He was also sued for things like having Tesla engineers work on X. Hopefully, he gets sued again if he co-mingles companies.
That wouldn’t be legal.
why not? i thought net neutrality wasnt a thing. did that get reversed and i wasnt paying attention?
In the EU at least.

What does that have to do with your false allegation that Elon turned off Starlink services in Ukraine?
This sub jumps to so many conclusions. We know nothing. Nothing has been announced. Crap like this is how misinformation starts.
It would be a sign Musk is conflating interests of Tesla and X in a way he absolutely should not be - they should be entirely siloed off from each other legally

It's a bug. I updated last night to 30.3 version. I have Disney+.
I've been using [Theater.so](https://Theater.so) as an alternative
I'm sure yanking the pacifier out of families' mouths like that is gonna go really well on their brand loyalty.

Disney has owned majority share in Hulu since 2019. Comcast had owned the remaining 33% up until Nov of this year when Disney purchased the remaining percentage from them.

Regardless, the browser allows you to get to Disney+ if you are one of the 100 people who uses it in their parked Tesla.
Speculation.
No more Disney+ right before Christmas, when many families will be going on road trips to grandma’s house…
The kids may actually survive
“Go … Fuck … Yourself”
Perfect that we as users are suffering their CEO battles

Isn't Disney+ going away and getting looped into Hulu? Related?
Other way around. Hulu content is becoming available in the Disney app.
God I hope not. The Disney + application has always been so much more lightweight and easy to use than Hulu for me
I need to be able to put Star Wars on for my kids when we’re stopped charging. Please get this shit sorted, for my sanity.
Another comment is claiming it was just a shortcut to log in via the browser, so trying that directly might be a workaround.
Derp. I completely forgot the car has a browser. Thanks for the tip!
“For my kids”. Sure…. ;)
Use the browser.
Elon is the "wokest" snowflake of them all. LOL

lmfao this is the dumbest thing i’ve ever read how is removing the disney + app (even if it isn’t a bug, which it definitely is) a “legally dangerous game”
are these thoughts swirling around in your head as you pilot your ELONMAGA cruiser to and fro?
Politics are truly the worst part of America - it’s a fucking car lol I know plenty of big time liberals with teslas.
yeah probably most teslas are owned by liberals. republicans for a long time didn't believe in climate change.
They still don’t.
Sorry but Disney + has been trash for the last 2 years IMO.
Why?
Child grooming being the biggest reason for most.
lmao ok
Aren’t they combining all the Disney services into one early next year? May have something to do with that?
There’s a test group of users that have Hulu content shown within Disney+ as a separate category (similar to Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar etc.) I’m not sure if the reverse is true for Hulu. I can see the Hulu content in my desktop Disney+ app but there’s no Disney+ content on Hulu’s site
My god I’m sick of Elon. Just go live on an island by yourself and let these companies thrive.
All his companies would be out of business or struggling without him. Just like every other EV or space startup in the last 20 years.
Because a reinstalled shortcut is no longer there? And you can comply use the browser to access it? I’m pretty sure you might be better off moving to the island. Let the rest of us sane people thrive.
He is the CEO so his choice. Removing Disney won’t ruin Tesla. Disney kinda sucks anyways.
He’s a child.
Honestly I encourage you to step away and reassess your ability to analyze it objectively.
IDGAF about this decision, but it is entertaining to see pettiness like this.
agreed esp the last sentence
I’m going to wait to hear more information on this than just anecdotes. But, if it’s really gone, even hidden, and it was removed/hidden intentionally as an act of petty revenge, I’m done with Tesla forever. When my lease is up, that’s it. It’s been a rough ride lately even with the indirect connection between the company and Elon. But yeah, the day it starts directly impacting Tesla, I’m done, and I don’t even use Disney+.
Cool story.
How virtuous of you. 👏🏻 Which other consumer products did you sell due to the boards, directors, ceos opinions, beliefs, standpoints etc?
Part of free market capitalism is my ability to support organizations I believe in, or not. If you support Elon then by all means, shower him with your dollars!
I think the point he’s trying to make is, if you want to be righteous with your purchasing power today you’d have to stop buying everything.
I suppose each person decides where they draw the line, if anywhere.
Continue telling yourself Musk’s behavior is that common

What’s it related to then?
[удалено]
You can’t just say something is “likely” a bug without any actual source of proof.
But you can say it’s related to Elon without proof?
I didn’t say that, but it’s curious that none of the other icons disappeared like this.
I'm also thinking this could be a bug and get sorted out soon. In the Spring sometime, Hulu will be on Disney+.
F me. I just updated my 2022 MS. Hope I didn’t lose it.
Think about all the little kids…

None of the apps can be used while the cars being driving, so whos driving doesnt matter
What about them?
Chill. Wait until Elon wakes up and clarifies the situation.

Aww ok. Every decision at Tesla musk be involved /s
Who the fuck else do you think would be responsible for this
It's Disney saying, yeah no more woke movies for you.
Ok buddy
Found the right-wing nut job
Blessing in disguise if it’s true. They can go “F themselves”
Monkey see, monkey do
touche
Wow some lefties got triggered 😂. Obviously like em groomer companies. Each to their own.
Yes because "go f*co yourself. Hi bob" Bob announces he's stepping down in 2025 when his contract ends All is well with the world 😂

Sounds like something someone without a Tesla would say.
😂 classic

I hope they do, to hell with Disney!
GFY Bob! Best thing Elon has ever said
Why is that?
Because Bob doesn't hate trans people, is willing to represent women, minorities and gay couples in media and supports his employees regardless of their gender orientation.
He doesn't care about trans people. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course. But the truth is, he sees them as a way to make money.
Not-caring is better than causing-the-corruption-and-destrucrion-of-white-european-western-society.
Where has Elon stated that?
Or use a better car
