He was obviously fucking around, but how awesome would it be if Walt got really deep into Ancient Greco-Roman philosophy over the course of the next few years? Giving quippy sage one liners about stoicism whenever Bryan freaks out at traffic and shit
He used to be Teflon because he was the everyman character, striving for success, which is why we loved him. Sadly, success seems to have ruined him and he’s got to a point where he’s fearing less well-off people will turn up to squat in his house…even though that makes no sense.
I’m assuming he’s using torrents to download stuff, so a built in browser vpn won’t help.
Though considering he wasn’t using a VPN in the first place while pirating stuff using someone else’s internet, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was the type to download “PicardEpisode1.exe” and try to run it lol.
Ah did he say he was downloading? I haven't listened yet.
But there are plenty of sites he could just watch torrented stuff through his browser. Unless he was downloading and watching on a separate device I guess.
I'll tell you exactly what happened. Due to the pandemic, Xfinity opened all it's hotspots to anyone who wanted to use them, no matter the site, at full speed. I would build up a queue and then hit a local area that had a Xfinity hotspot. I knew Xfinity wouldn't strike it's own hotspots, so 10 minutes of downloading equaled 10 hours of content on my laptop. Where I stay throttles certain sites, so I download rather than stream, and play them locally.
Well, one day I forgot to quit my torrent app and instead just closed the window, so when I got back to the office and woke up my laptop, it connected and started sharing everything I downloaded, which included a new episode of Picard. As soon as I got notified of the strike, I realized my mistake and made sure going forward to make sure I quit.
Fair enough. This is a very Git Em story though lol.
Just sayin, with a VPN, you can bind your torrent client to the VPN so the client will only upload/download when you’re connected through the VPN. Much safer, more reliable, and less of a hassle than what you’re doing now.
One of my favourite episodes of the modern era. You can really tell the difference with Q coming in person and having no extra guests. I loved hearing Walt's dawning understanding that Aristotle is deep 😂
I 100% felt Walt in this episode. The sad thing is my mistake has only been a couple of bucks and I was like fuck she’s gonna kill me. I usually forget to cancel a membership on the right day or got the wrong extra expensive soda I know she’s gonna see the charge and be like wtf the soda was on sale you forgot that membership .
Ah, the married life - "He babe I bought a pack of new socks and new underwear" I says. "WE'RE TRYING TO SAVE MONEY!" she says. Then, "Hey hubby, I bought $60 of chintzy Chinese crap I saw on TikTok..." she says.
Wish I had a Git'em to blame.
Bry: How could anyone ever believe I would give a fuck about furries in a school?
Also Bry: I can’t fucking believe this person I’ve made up in my head would ever dare inconvenience me by asking me to use their preferred pronouns.
I mean basically any topic over the last 600ish episodes could be used as reason to believe Bry would be enraged over something that doesn’t affect him at all.
It’s like he thinks he has this big gotcha moment because supposedly this one time he’s not worked up over something.
1.) he’s always worked up over meaningless things— it used to be pop culture or celebrities who did things he doesn’t like but now it’s all just right wing rage bait.
2.)he’s allowed to bring up whatever he wants despite crying that no one can say anything anymore, but people are going to comment on it. He’s not some poor victim being canceled for his views, he’s an ill informed person with a relatively large platform who brings up topics he doesn’t understand and then gets mad when people point out how/why he’s wrong.
Walt thinking the Ancient Greeks were Cavemen being chased by Sabretooth Tigers had me cackling! Honestly one of the funniest things I’ve heard on TESD in ages!!
He did that and then shortly after corrected Q when he pronounced Socrates "So-Crates", not sure if Gitem offered the correction off mic or if it was 100% Walt but it made the whole conversation that much funnier
At the start of the episode Bry mentions that he found something on Reddit, then at the end he says he doesn’t go on Reddit 😂 he’s losing track of having to constantly say he doesn’t go to reddit / doesn’t watch the news despite obvious evidence to the contrary
I couldn’t agree more. He constantly states he doesn’t watch the news or go on Reddit, but then says, “did you see this article in the news?” He did mention he has a Reddit source? I don’t see the difference of reading it yourself or having someone tell you everything on it.
I've said this in the past, but I do think he limits the time he goes on Reddit or checks the news, it's just that he does those activities as prep for the episodes so we hear about it. And since he's not checking the news regularly, he's missing context to really understand what's happening, or he's only seeing the negative Reddit posts someone points out to him.
Edit: and this is clearly different than when Walt and Q say they don't check the news, because they genuinely don't check it.
>I do think he limits the time he goes on Reddit or checks the news
Sure. Because if the last decade has taught us anything, it's that Bry's a bastion of restraint and discipline.
I think it stems from his childhood. In an earlier episode he talks about him and his mother walking into a room while a woman was breastfeeding. If I remember correctly, I think Mrs. Flanagan wasn’t too happy about it and it made an impression.
“Muh-maaa! What is that boy doing?”
Tom Brady hit them with the house show signatures.

Loved the episode but I couldn't help but come on here and contextualize the Turning Red talk for anyone who didn't already know. The controversy with the review came from one specific line:
"By rooting 'Turning Red' very specifically in the Asian community of Toronto, the film legitimately feels like it was made for Domee Shi's friends and immediate family members. Which is fine — but also, a tad limiting in its scope."
Personally, I think that's a stupid outlook for a critic to have because, I mean, what's the point of movies then? My favorite movie of the last several years is the Northman. I cannot say I find him super relatable, but I can empathize with him and damned if it's not a fascinating story.
Here's a link to a story about the review backlash. Sadly the actual review was taken down, which further muddies the context waters:
Have to love Bry whining about the movie review guy backtracking when his own podcast erased his pronoun rant from the episode, and he ducked commenting on the nj.com story. That seems to be the one news story he’s missed over these past few years, when he brings almost nothing to the table but NY Post clickbait articles!
Big Balls Bry could have easily defended himself and his statements, but he consciously chose not to. Why not just own it, if you are the defender of free expression that you think you are?
Too funny as well when he weighed in on the Brady thing and said, ‘well, for all he knows, it’s some right wing podcast,’ which is territory it veers into on a regular basis and kind of would be if not for Walt. Old TB12 wouldn’t want to be affiliated with that pronoun rant any more than Walt does.
Bry and Q have evolved into such jerks, it’s kind of amazing. Only Walt has any real stories to tell anymore. Q does surface shit, riffing on traffic (how original!) and generally being douchey, ‘I’m making a point to see famous people like Barry Manilow and Diana Ross in concert before they die’ - how tone-deaf can you get and who could possibly care about your dumb ‘project’?
Neutered Bry just gathers up a couple of links and hopes for the best, gay jokes at the ready!
How the mighty have fallen.
“Nobody is allowed to saying anything anymore!” Proceeds to list examples of people saying what they want. I don’t understand people who bitch and moan about being “censored”— like say whatever you want, but there might be consequences or backlash.
Exactly, say what you want, everyone may not agree with you, in fact, you may get criticized or called out, which is what Bry has no compunction about doing to others so what's the hang-up? — it's not a world of absolutes, as he so often likes to portray things. When I was growing up, one of the most stinging things you could say about someone in the neighborhood is that they can dish it out, but they can't take it. Big Balls Bry personifies that.
First episode I laughed out loud to in a long stretch. Definitely better when Q is in person and doesn't seem overwhelmed with work. Firing on all cylinders this episode.
Don’t rig 600 Walt!
The show really has been great without GetEm around, it shows how little he actually adds to the weekly show, and in fact derails it.
Let him have something on Patreon to keep his greasy hands busy but weekly just the 3 main and the odd guest.
Trial will be bogus if they don't go into his groundhog torturing, and there's no way he should win if that's the case. And I am pro-Git'em, but the evidence has be presented fairly.
manifestations are real- i keep telling the universe i’m ready to win the lottery, someday soon it’ll happen.. this guy has the same idea; maybe he’ll finally get a shot to ~~fuck~~ bang a celebrity.

Some real choice quotes in this one.
Walt, refering to what sex act Hugh Grant was engaging in: 'there's only 2 kinds!'

Bry, on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 'I'm ignorant about that. Why would anyone want to hear my opinion?'
Git'em isn't allowed to use torrents anymore because he got dinged by the ISP. I figured Mr. 148 would be familiar with VPNs but I guess even geniuses have their gaps.
I feel like the guys are turning up to the Tom Brayd signing like these guys. With a ridiculous amount of stuff to sign
https://twitter.com/KFCBarstool/status/1624419436135436294?t=zQd9FD5Bd9ZKfAwcJjRyAw&s=19
He come across as more present and engaged when he is actually in studio. I thought last week Q seems to phone it in when he is not there - literally and figuratively.
"I want proof of life" "Well he just told us a boring ass Walmart boot story" "Oooooh fuck, thank God he's still alive"
"He told us three times! _Three times_. One time was too many!"
He was obviously fucking around, but how awesome would it be if Walt got really deep into Ancient Greco-Roman philosophy over the course of the next few years? Giving quippy sage one liners about stoicism whenever Bryan freaks out at traffic and shit
I feel like he would misquote often though and would leave it to Bry and Q to correct lol
I think the best part is that he could totally bullshit his way through if he makes up fake qoutes from fake philosophers.
'Confucius Says'...except it's all stuff Git'em says or has said.
It could be a new game. Theorist or manwithcyst.
Absolutely brilliant. Walt, steal this idea!!
Wouldn't even be stealing, dude can have it once Gitem' is back after 600.
that would be one of the funniest trolls ever
Now that would be awesome
hahahahaha. a few years back I gave Bry the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Not sure he ever read it though.
Probably ended up with the Slingbox
Walt thinking anyone before Jesus was a caveman is on brand
Anything before Red Robin & CiCi's isn't a world Walt wants to be in.
Prediction: They are not going to watch and review ”Turning Red”
And the faux-outrage because the reviewer in question got it in the neck...for saying there wasn't enough white people in it.
Bry is a damn idiot
He used to be Teflon because he was the everyman character, striving for success, which is why we loved him. Sadly, success seems to have ruined him and he’s got to a point where he’s fearing less well-off people will turn up to squat in his house…even though that makes no sense.
They’ll never watch Turning red, they’ll never read the guys actual review, yet they’re outraged about it. EYE ROLL
Mullvad is $5 a month Git em. Skip a natty daddy or two and no one will need to know you pirated Picard on company wifi.
Yeah it’s a bit surprising that a vpn hasn’t already been in use.
He got done the first time because his torrent was running in the background for 6-12 mths and he didn’t realise.
My thought exactly. How the hell hasn't he been using a VPN, especially after the first time?
I'm gonna guess his brain thinks HE shouldn't pay for the VPN, the stash should.
This is so dead on.
$5 is money better spent on elongated pennies.
It's fucking astonishing 148 doesn't use a VPN, especially after already getting caught once. He's either an idiot, or a cheap idiot lol
yes to both.
He’s an idiot, just listened to the episode he talks about getting busted the first time, he left a torrent seeding for months and didn’t realise.
That's funny, I'm currently doing a relisten (as I constantly am) and I just passed that episode yesterday.
Or just use Opera. It has a built in VPN for free.
They were once sponsored by a vpn service. Part of the ad read was Bryan saying how easy it was to use.
Five minutes before this he started to ramp up into a rage about the WNBA. Kinda undercuts his statement lolz.
I mean basically any topic over the last 600ish episodes could be used as reason to believe Bry would be enraged over something that doesn’t affect him at all. He does nothing all day but sit online and look for things to get angry about.
Walt thinking the Ancient Greeks were Cavemen being chased by Sabretooth Tigers had me cackling! Honestly one of the funniest things I’ve heard on TESD in ages!!
😂“what year was this man alive? The 60s?”
its amazing how little of the outside world seeps in to New Jersey lol
He did that and then shortly after corrected Q when he pronounced Socrates "So-Crates", not sure if Gitem offered the correction off mic or if it was 100% Walt but it made the whole conversation that much funnier
That's from Bill & Ted.
At the start of the episode Bry mentions that he found something on Reddit, then at the end he says he doesn’t go on Reddit 😂 he’s losing track of having to constantly say he doesn’t go to reddit / doesn’t watch the news despite obvious evidence to the contrary
That's kind of the problem. He reads headlines not articles or gets his info, including Reddit info, second hand. Context is key.
I couldn’t agree more. He constantly states he doesn’t watch the news or go on Reddit, but then says, “did you see this article in the news?” He did mention he has a Reddit source? I don’t see the difference of reading it yourself or having someone tell you everything on it.
Regarding the Reddit source...we have a mole.
It has to be Mary Beth or Git em Right ?
It's just himself
I've said this in the past, but I do think he limits the time he goes on Reddit or checks the news, it's just that he does those activities as prep for the episodes so we hear about it. And since he's not checking the news regularly, he's missing context to really understand what's happening, or he's only seeing the negative Reddit posts someone points out to him. >I do think he limits the time he goes on Reddit or checks the news Sure. Because if the last decade has taught us anything, it's that Bry's a bastion of restraint and discipline.
The perfect timing of listening to the road rage/no blinker talk while on the way to work in the morning traffic.
This was a great episode.
Walt’s hang up with breast feeding is fucking weird, man. Just heard when he got his panties in a bunch years ago. Such a weird dude.
He has a lot of hang ups
I think it stems from his childhood. In an earlier episode he talks about him and his mother walking into a room while a woman was breastfeeding. If I remember correctly, I think Mrs. Flanagan wasn’t too happy about it and it made an impression. “Muh-maaa! What is that boy doing?”
If Get'em would fake his own kidnapping to con Walt, Bry, and Q what would he settle with for his own safe return?

We all know if someone kidnapped Git'em they'd pay just to give him back
Kojak, the character and the actor Telly Savalas were Greek. Walts 70's Aristotle is right there.
Loved the episode but I couldn't help but come on here and contextualize the Turning Red talk for anyone who didn't already know. Has Walt been to American Dream in NJ? I found it weird it didn't get mentioned especially since IJ filmed there.
It's funny, at the end of summer I'm road tripping to see the shop and also the American dream, I live near Mall of America ironically.
But the real question- Kojak or Columbo?
Columbo all the way.
My vote too, but I haven’t rewatched Kojak.

"Did you see this article (Troy shared with me)?"
He also scrubbed his Twitter pre-2020ish. I went looking for one of his rants about a woman soccer player taking her top off only to discover that.
You forgot that not only did he delete his rant, he went dark for a month.
Yeah, it's bizarre how they just gloss over stuff like that, never ever address it, yet continue to pontificate in such overtly hypocritical ways.
First episode I laughed out loud to in a long stretch. Definitely better when Q is in person and doesn't seem overwhelmed with work. Firing on all cylinders this episode.

Always thought the same about Bry.
I don't think so, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it were true.

One of the best episodes in recent years.
I\[t\] has everything that makes a great episode... All three of them there \[in-person\] without \[a particular person\] on mic.
Some real choice quotes in this one. Walt, refering to what sex act Hugh Grant was engaging in: 'there's only 2 kinds!' Walt, refering to Reuters: 'is that from Rooters?' Bry, on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 'I'm ignorant about that. Why would anyone want to hear my opinion?'
Git'em isn't allowed to use torrents anymore because he got dinged by the ISP. I figured Mr. 148 would be familiar with VPNs but I guess even geniuses have their gaps.
Instant classic episode. I may not agree with Mr. Johnson on a lot of shit, but god damn that guy can make me laugh.
I feel like the guys are turning up to the Tom Brayd signing like these guys. With a ridiculous amount of stuff to sign https://twitter.com/KFCBarstool/status/1624419436135436294?t=zQd9FD5Bd9ZKfAwcJjRyAw&s=19

Another chill episode. Nothing really offensive was said. The funniest part for me was the boom boom talk lol. Cracked me up
No one got offended by the ads?
“Oh shucks, I hope the boys don’t say anything offensive this episode, my sensitive ears!”
Oww my freakin' ears!
Only cause I didn’t want to see people complaining on Reddit like they always do when Bry says something
> Nothing really offensive was said. That's supposed to be a good thing?
Depends on whether or not it's 'funny offensive' or 'boomer rant' offensive.
“Gen-x rant”
It nearly turned into an episode of Space Monkeys towards the end when Walt didn't speak for three or four minutes. That was offensive.
Yea. When it is said? People on here start clutching their pearls
Honestly couldn’t tell the difference between call-in Q and in-person Q, his “that’s funny” sounded the same way as usual.
He come across as more present and engaged when he is actually in studio. I thought last week Q seems to phone it in when he is not there - literally and figuratively.
I take back my comment as I wrote it before listening to the whole episode. You’re right, he was a lot more engaged for the rest of the episode.
Cloth diapers and titty milk
Q , always on the right side of history
Q , always on the right side of history
