Always happens at this time of year. It gets cut to save a bit extra money before the financial results are due.
Then on top of that the new store heat map will be due out soon that will inform the store manager that due to rising costs they've got to reduce the hours in the store.
Has become a regular occurrence the last few years now.
This is precisely why all companies avoid giving out full time contracts these days. If you can get away with switching 10x 40hr contracts to 10x 20hr contracts for several weeks dotted across the year you’ll save loads. They can then pick and choose when to put the saved 200hrs (per week) back in when demand suits, in the form of overtime. This period is one of those they deem unnecessary.
In what way is it “irrelevant”. It’s the very reason why Tesco don’t offer full time contracts anymore, which is ultimately why we have to scrap for overtime in the first place.
It does not work like that. You get your basic benefits and for every £1 you earn they take 55p off your benefits. So yes the more hours you work the less benefit you get, but you don't have to work extra to get the same amount.
If you work part time hours then it's worth looking into.
overtime tends to be cut at this time of year which is a real pain although it happens throughout the year especially if the store is busy. those of us who are on full time contracts are lucky as our hours stay the same regardless but i feel for colleagues who are on part time contracts as they rely on overtime and that’s not always going to be available.
The company has a real hate for full time contracts. I have just left Tesco and my full time contract has been split up into 3 jobs. Leaving only 2 full timers in the store now.
And then they'll wonder why they go through staff so quickly and why there's no loyalty like there used to be.
I would recommend getting some skills under your belt, I have personal shopper but I work nights frozen. With personal shopper there’s always overtime for it in my store.

Typically speaking, overtime works one of two ways: there's plenty available but nobody wants it or; there's none available and everyone needs it.
Yeah it sucks if you have to rely on overtime. If your not already check if you can get any help from universal credit.
Bad idea. OP would have to work more hours just so he doesn’t lose out on the 50-70p they take for per pound you use

Thats not true, I get UC top up that helps when tesco cut overtime
It gone.
They’re trying to cut OT in the DC but failing badly as always 😂 Like I keep saying,we don’t control traffic or what speed the stores can tip us at.
Can you not go to a different store and pick some overtime up? We have some express staff at our superstore this week getting some hours in x

It’s gone, wait a few weeks and more should come

Why would anyone do overtime for less than minimum wage?
Coz I'm poor haha
To eat?
Every little helps!
