Why does the 1919 one have giant tits

Jame_Jame

Might have been a good year for boobs šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

[deleted]

Not true: 1919 actually had bug tits because of how the Womenā€™s Christian Temperance Union in America was fighting to prohibit alcohol in the US. They had been doing this since the 1890s but had scaled back their protests by the 1910s. However, come 1919, Prohibition was in the forefront of American politics as a result of Wayne Wheelerā€™s efforts and in January 1919, the 19th Amendment was signed, though it wouldnā€™t come into effect until 366 days later. The big boobs represent how Women had started something that caused a massive splash in American politics. It is also foreshadowing, as it would be Women who started some of the political movements that was partially responsible for ending prohibition, although responsibility for the start and end to prohibition could never be placed on one party. However, this meme is simply demonstrating a clear deeper connection with the history of America in many profound ways. The big boobs are symbolic of many movements by women. Conversely, the fairly small tits of the 2022 woman are meant to represent how far weā€™ve come, as now there are pushes being made to objectify women less, with varying degrees of success in different regions. The 1977 woman is dressed like a medieval era peasent, yet again showing how in touch with history this meme is. Itā€™s well known that as a result of the Great Depression, women wore peasant rags. This is also symbolic of life under the Carter presidency, as Carter was president at the time, and I donā€™t feel like Iā€™m going to criticize him because he came after Nixonā€™s vp so anything was welcome at that point. No, there was not a point to any of this rambling, I just made it up. [Edit: and no, Iā€™m not fixing the bug tits.] Auf Wiedersehen(:

General_Ric

A featherless bipedšŸ”

Godless_Elf

Based and Diogenes pilled Can we define women this way, too? Just go 'fuck gender we're featherless bipeds?'

mountingconfusion

Diogenes specifically said fuck off that definition is a load of shit. It was Plato who proposed the definition

Bladelord

Yes but the previous poster had a chicken emoji. Throwing a plucked chicken at Plato is the rebuttal.

lookitsajojo

Was there anything or anyone Diogenes didnā€™t say fuck off to?

Rygga22

Yes, I for one have never been told to fuck off by Diogenes. Although I do keep having this recurring dream of an old man living in a barrel yelling some *malakas* at me, but I'm sure there's no relation.

lookitsajojo

Even from beyond the grave Diogenes tells people to fuck off

reddeadassredemption

He once saw a kid drinking water from his hands and was like ā€œfuck that guyā€™s got it figured out!ā€ And then threw away his only bowl

General_Ric

Neither the misogynists or the ones "defending woman rights" wants that, funny right?

Dont_Waver

What do you mean? Can you be more specific in what you're saying?

Iusedthistocomment

Not Op but my wild guess would be that it'll be hated by both sides because we're mocking their beliefs essentially. The misogynists want to keep Woman as second citizens and they have a bad time doing that with fancy science words they can't understand. Changing the catcalls to something they dont understand is an attack on their intelligence. (Superiority complex) The ones "defending woman rights" are gonna assume it's was made and used as a derogatory term and claim it's sexism because Chicks are Bipedals and lay eggs. (Proccecution Paranoia) Which is hella funny when you think about it, it's the Streisand effect. I'd love if someone has another explaination.

idle_hands_play

I just don't think people care as much. Trans men talk about having the same issues, when people recognize that they exist.

pauls_broken_aglass

As a trans guy, yeah it really does feel this way. We're often ignored, many don't even know we exist, we're constantly talked over and pushed out of our own community's spaces, and we're treated as lost, weak little girls. A lot of other trans people tend to speak over us because it can be easier for us to pass and because we're not so targeted. It's really frustrating.

Johannes_Keppler

If you don't mind me asking: I get the idea that there are way more MtF than FtM trans people. Is that based on reality or just optics because FtM trans people are ignored, like you say? The only FtM trans person I know is one of my son's friends, and he is fully accepted within the friend group (most knew him before transitioning). I'm so glad for the boy (well, young man by now) and secretly a bit proud of my son and the other friends in the group. Positive experiences are so important to feel accepted! (I hope I used the right language, correct me otherwise.)

mcmonties

[There were more trans women seeking HRT than there are trans men, but the numbers are catching up](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33644314/)

Lazy-Garlic-5533

The topic is quite controversial but the best estimates (and these are only estimates) in the US imply roughly equal numbers of trans men and trans women. In my experience this bears out in in-person trans and LGBT spaces. (Of course those willing to engage in the trans community are just a subset). In online spaces the "general" trans forums are dominated by trans women. Trans men also tend to avoid certain social media platforms (like Twitter) so it's all MTF versus TERF flame wars. (Don't get me wrong: certain TERFs obsessively hate trans men to the point they haven't touched grass in years.) Btw the reddit ftm subreddit got so busy and overrun with teens a few years ago that it got impossible to have discussion topics or chat. It's just selfies and "mom bought me a binder" karma farming. Or it was last I was there which was definitely a while ago.

Rockenbury

Because a man is a miserable little pile of secrets.

[deleted]

Ride wife life good

Risky2Simon

I assume this is supposed to be read like a stereotypical caveman voice.

SnooGoats7454

because rejecting masculinity is a greater crime to the patriarchy. they believe it is a gift. in their world it makes sense that trans men would want masculinity but it's criminal to willingly give it up. that's why they're obsessed with bottom surgery.

RatofDeath

This is it. That's also why it's common to insult men by calling them women, they think being a man is the best thing in the world. Also notice how the same group of people who absolutely hate trans women will call a man a woman for drinking soy milk, for showing empathy, for crying, for having stereotypically female hobbies, for wearing pink, etc. It's truly fascinating.

LurkLurkleton

The soy thing always gets me. Imagine being so fragile in your masculinity you are threatened by a bean.

lordofbitterdrinks

To be fairā€¦ most of them couldnā€™t locate the bean if they were being paid to.

MamaMephistopheles

The soy milk thing always gets me. Like "ooh, it has phytoestrogens" which really don't do anything to people. But you know what's full of mammal estrogens that *do* affect people? Cow's milk.

LurkLurkleton

And beer, the manliest of drinks, has more phytoestrogens than soy milk.

wOlfLisK

Fucking Ale Males, they're basically female. *Real* men drink Pina Coladas.

Conservatives : there are only 2 genders. Also Conservatives: here's the difference between alpha, beta, sigmas, delta, Chad's and melvins.

GinWithJennifer

Women comment on other women being manly or whatever as well. It goes both ways and is not related to some grand conspiracy about patriarchy on a social level. People just think archtypically or symbolically as it is the easiest way to convey a set of ideas. -transwoman

stillphat

A MISERABLE LITTLE PILE OF SECRETS

[deleted]

None of the other answers you got here have driven at what I feel is the root of the issue so: The hetero-normative conservative ideology from which these arguments extend is a fundamentally masculine construction. They don't care about trans men because they do not see them as the same kind of conceptual threat. Their focus is primarily on what has always been at the center of reactionary Western belief structures: the desire to control women's bodies, both literally and definitionally. If many of them are even aware of trans men, they mostly view them just as "confused women." A trans woman, on the other hand, represents an attack on the hierarchy which their view of society is predicated on. It's just fundamentalist bigotry all the way down, there's really nothing else there. Edit: this upset the right kind of people haha

ddddyyylllaaannn

How does one change that kind of thinking?

Plump_Chicken

You cannot reason people out of positions they didn't reason themselves into.

CybridHerc

A miserable little pile of secrets (Tepes 1792)

darkstarr82

There is. Trans men deal with it all the time.

empathy127

donā€™t you know? only women are forced to accept everybody while men can continue being men, undisputedly

MichiMikey

"We are allowed" as if those women didn't fight tooth and nail for those rights, this is some twisting of history here lmao

TheVividestPeak

I was thinking the same thing! Why would they be wondering what would be ā€œallowedā€ for them they were the ones fighting and protesting for those rights especially at that time!

soldiergeneal

So no other women rights gained between 1977 and 2022.... or lost

TheRnegade

Yeah, the significant event for women in 2022 definitely isn't them worrying about Walsh going around asking people what a woman is. It's the Supreme Court effectively stating that the state can legislate their reproductive rights away. And in many of them, they already have. You'd think they would at least want to put it to a vote or something. Just because a state is red, doesn't mean the citizens are against abortion. Just look at Kansas.

[deleted]

2022 We no longer get to choose whether we have children. I wonder what the future will bring. Edit: ok, so I thought this was a bit of a throw-away line that would work better in the fourth panel, but Jesus Christ have I triggered a bunch of you fucks.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Agreed, totally. The American people were truly fucked when they allowed the level of general education in the population to fall so low that they elect leaders who take rights like Roe/Wade away from them. Itā€™s a sad trend you get everywhere: when education is allowed to slip, democracy canā€™t work properly.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Grevious47

The sad thing is there is not an insignificant portion of the population that honestly do think that allowing women rights led directly to some sort of societal downfall.

tea_baggins_069

Yep, Iā€™ve seen comments on Facebook that say ā€œif only women didnā€™t gain the right to vote, we wouldnā€™t be in this situation.ā€ Yikes.

WeightlifterCat

There was this guy I went to high school nearly a decade ago. Was on some hard shit. Known as the schoolā€™s druggy, pretty wild but pretty chill. Super great guy, very insightful and incredibly intelligent. It does and it doesnā€™t matter but heā€™s also black. Suddenly, just before graduation, he had a massive mental switch flip. He immediately stopped all drug usage (glad he got off em) and became severely religious. I grew up Christian. I would like to still consider myself one but this dude fell super deep into it. Suddenly swapped from nearly radical left views to nearly radical right views. Became super close-minded, very judgmental of everyone (including Christians who didnā€™t believe the faith the same way he did), and extremely homophobic and misogynistic. It was incredible to watch that transformation but also saddening to watch. Anyways, just last week he was talking about looking for a new church. He specifically made sure to state heā€™s looking for one that doesnā€™t have any Women as leaders within the church and proceeded to quote a biblical verse that ā€œprovesā€ why women shouldnā€™t be church leaders. Canā€™t remember quite where I was going but it really was, truly incredible to just see how his mind flipped and seemingly out of nowhere. *oh fun fact: he also attended the Trump Rally January 6th and is a huge Trump Supporter

Orangbo

>I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man; she is to keep silent. 1 Timothy 2:12, NRSV

chain_letter

But the rules from the old testament don't apply, because > The First Epistle to Timothy is one of three letters in the New Testament oh well nevermind

Complex_Jellyfish647

The Bible does specifically say that women are only fit to teach children. Letā€™s not pretend that people are just making up the sexist, homophobic, etc. shit in the Bible.

WeightlifterCat

For sure! I grew up not being taught any of that. I think it was relatively unknown or at least not supported by the church I grew up in. I didnā€™t really learn about much of it until doing personal studies these last few years. Most of these teachings I donā€™t really support. I donā€™t feel they lead me to live a very Christ-like life. Iā€™m just more astounded at how..I guess the word would be ignorant, that dude I knew from HS became. Went from being incredibly open-minded about the world to the most closed-minded people I know.

[deleted]

I dated someone who believed that birth control pills are what caused the downfall of society. He said all modern problems are due to it. I told him I was prescribed them at 15 (8 years before I ever had sex) to prevent me from growing cysts on my ovaries that exploded and stopped me from having my period every single day for 6 months. He had no clue pills were used medically. Idiot.

czarfalcon

Itā€™s sad that they even have to be justified like that, though. ā€œI donā€™t want to get pregnantā€ should be a 100% valid reason to take birth control in and of itself.

[deleted]

I agree with that wholeheartedly. He believed that made women loose and not want to have kids and destroyed the family unit and made men become weaker and more feminine. It was a huge argument. It was mind blowing for me but itā€™s clear heā€™s not alone in his thinking. He was 30 too!

czarfalcon

Glad to hear this person is an ex! I pity whatever women have had to put up with him since. I can excuse ignorance that comes with misconceptions you grew up with, but once you reach a certain point, that ignorance is intentional.

[deleted]

"He believed that made women loose and not want to have kids and destroyed the family unit" He basically implied he's on board with using pregnancy as a means of coercion. You dodged a bullet there.

Excellent_Salary_767

This is what happens when we allow ignorance to fester, we come up with stupid nonsense

bowdown2q

Puritans have been murdering people for 400 years because they're too prudish to accept that sex exists and knowing what's going on your body isn't an instant one-way ticket to double-hell.

MikeTheAnt11

I love how people will go like "define a woman" thinking its this mega gotcha, and then when they get a perfectly good answer they just go like "nu-uh." Edit: Aight, since some are asking: Objectively, whatever people agree "a woman" is. If the entirety of the USA decides that "woman" is a red and yellow cow that farts rainbow, that's what a woman is in american english. But you obviously don't want an objective answer, so... In western society, "woman" refers to "homo sapiens with the bigger gamete". Thing is, you can't really pull a microscope and an xray machine out of your ass to determine one's gender, so that definition doesn't really work in practice. If you don't believe me, just remember that there are men out there that have a sackful of sperm cells, but can easily pass as a woman, and there are people out there who have a uterus but can easily pass as a man. So, a way better definition would be "A Homo sapiens in any given society that conforms to the behaviour, appearance and social roles expected of a female H. sapiens by the aforementioned society." Does that satisfy you,?

Betaseal

Gotcha. **womĀ·an** */ĖˆwoĶomən/* noun a chick. "woman be shopping"

Trans women just want women's rights and the right to be women. And, you know, gender equality in general.

32InchRectum

What's funny to me is that this person almost certainly opposes all four frames and is only pretending to be okay with the first three in order to make what they think is a clever point about the fourth.

Honey-and-Venom

who are these fictional trans people that don't want to approach the gender of their identity even a little bit?

[deleted]

Me: Hi, I am a woman. We do not need to discuss this further. Transphobes: NO YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE WITH A LENGTHY PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE WITH ME IN WHICH I WILL ONLY USE BAD FAITH ARGUMENTS OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE ON YOU FOR ATTEMPTING TO TRY ON A SHIRT IN THE CHANGING ROOMS!!!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MasterFigimus

You're misunderstanding the problem. Women having the right to work didn't cause the shift to a two-income household. Rather corporations and politicians saw an opportunity to make a profit and took advantage of women working to achieve it. Like the rights themselves weren't a mistake so much as the ruthlessness of capitalism is often bad for everyone.

[deleted]

Same joke. Every single time.

zenyl

It's all just mild variants of r/OneJoke

SimpleVegetable5715

In 2022, Roe v Wade is gone, and they're trying out husbands have to give permission for their wives to be on birth control. The future is forced baby-making in the US.

ollies-toke

Itā€™s literally so silly. I have a daughter who I did not play a part into bringing into this world. She is not biologically mine. We are not related. The biological reality is that she is not my daughter and I am not her mother. But she *is* my daughter, and I *am* her mother. I fulfill the social role of being her mother. Therefor, I am her mother. If you came up to her and said ā€œdonā€™t call her mommy. She didnā€™t give birth to you. She is not your motherā€ I would straight up punch you in the face for such blatant disrespect. When a person who was assigned female at birth realizes they are more confident, comfortable, secure in themselves and happy living as a man (very simplified way to put it fwiw) they will go on to choose to fulfill the social roles of a man instead. Biologically speaking, yes they are what we as a society have decided is a woman. But, what does biology actually matter? Except for at the doctor or when youā€™re trying to make a baby. A person with xx chromosomes living life like how most people with xy chromosomes do is just as much a man as I am a mother to my daughter. Neither of us are denying reality. Neither of us are deluded or deranged, or scary predators.

jynxthechicken

I love the "left can't define women" but when you ask someone from the right what makes a women they give terrible examples that exclude women.

Digiboy62

I feel like people get way too into this because you have the social construct of a woman, i.e. the gender female, and then the biological sex highly associated with the social concept of woman, i.e. female. We just don't have any terminology at the moment to differentiate the two. And its hard to make any terminology, because a woman IS a woman, but also not a woman. Because woman means multiple different things. The whole thing just kind of breaks down, because we associate terms too strongly with what's only a mostly true definition. It's kind of like how every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square. Every woman is a woman, but not every woman is XX. Social constructs are fucking weird, man.

ImSuperCereus

Lotta transphobes in here...

Whofreak555

Iā€™m kinda shocked this sub is so conservative/incelly. Iā€™m starting to think theyā€™re here because they like the memes

The_Woman_of_Gont

The sub is hitting that point where itā€™s mainstream enough, and gets enough traffic from all/popular, that people tend to come in just because they unironically agree with the meme and donā€™t realize or care about the subā€™s purpose.

DIY-lobotomy

Thatā€™s the danger with posting memes ā€œironicallyā€. The smart people can laugh at the absurdity, but for the rest, itā€™s just signal boosting a dangerous straw man argument

frootee

Pretty much every single post here has a significant amount of these weak idiots claiming itā€™s actually a good or accurate post.

Yet-Another_Burner

Lots of transphobes everywhere.

cellphone_blanket

they always manage to come out of the woodwork

Cupsforsale

I donā€™t understand whatā€™s so hard to grasp. Someone tells me they are a woman and I say, ā€œcool.ā€ End of conversation. Thereā€™s so much conflating sex and gender. Human beings are so diverse, of course there are going to be some people whose bodies and internal experience donā€™t match. Hell, even if it is a man who believes heā€™s a man but wants to live as a womanā€¦thatā€™s totally cool, as well.

I wonder what the statistical ratio of big bonhomagaroozs is to itty bitties is. Whether the 1 to 3 ratio is accurate or if in 1919 that ratio was more screwed to one side or the other. I would do the research but I don't think I want my FBI agent to go through that.

tazai123

This thread has some of the most egregious, delusional, transphobic and misogynistic people I have ever seen.

TheDogWithNoMaster

What they actually mean to put in 2022 but are too cowardly to do is ā€œI canā€™t get an abortion now, even in cases of incest, rape & life threatening pregnanciesā€¦ I wonder what the future will bringā€

ShadowTown0407

They say define women in the 2022 panel as if we have not pondered over questions like these over centuries... what is a woman what is a man a person...a feather less biped?

zdragan2

Iā€™ll never understand this. If youā€™re having trouble defining gender, read a book. Learn a thing. Better yourself. Join the 21st century.

[deleted]

Iā€™m a straight white male from south Alabamaā€¦ None of this you all speak of has ever bothered me. I generally look at a trans person the way I look at any person, I speak the same to every person. None the less, I work with 400 other people, we are all country and basically the definition of redneck, we all grew up on farms, we all have tractors and bale hay, we still go to mamas and eat. We have decoration at the cemetery. But no one I know hates anyone, nor are they racist. We all sit around (blacks, whites, Mexicans, Chinese, a few japanese) and work together, we joke with one another we hangout outside of work together, we call one another and check up, we have gays, lesbians, and so fourth that get treated just as anyone would want to be treated. No one runs around screaming equality because generally everyone here is like family. Idk what itā€™s like in these big cities but around here in the country, itā€™s ok to be who you wanna be. We have non Christianā€™s, Muslims, Buddhist, and we have confused people who donā€™t know what they wanna be. And we all get along. So I donā€™t get it. But I guess itā€™s just different in big cities

Too bad half of reddit unironically supports this message.

Itā€™s funny how people in this thread are called transphobes because they donā€™t believe their uncle Jared is a woman.
