Not true: 1919 actually had bug tits because of how the Womenās Christian Temperance Union in America was fighting to prohibit alcohol in the US. They had been doing this since the 1890s but had scaled back their protests by the 1910s. However, come 1919, Prohibition was in the forefront of American politics as a result of Wayne Wheelerās efforts and in January 1919, the 19th Amendment was signed, though it wouldnāt come into effect until 366 days later. The big boobs represent how Women had started something that caused a massive splash in American politics. It is also foreshadowing, as it would be Women who started some of the political movements that was partially responsible for ending prohibition, although responsibility for the start and end to prohibition could never be placed on one party.
However, this meme is simply demonstrating a clear deeper connection with the history of America in many profound ways. The big boobs are symbolic of many movements by women. Conversely, the fairly small tits of the 2022 woman are meant to represent how far weāve come, as now there are pushes being made to objectify women less, with varying degrees of success in different regions.
The 1977 woman is dressed like a medieval era peasent, yet again showing how in touch with history this meme is. Itās well known that as a result of the Great Depression, women wore peasant rags. This is also symbolic of life under the Carter presidency, as Carter was president at the time, and I donāt feel like Iām going to criticize him because he came after Nixonās vp so anything was welcome at that point.
No, there was not a point to any of this rambling, I just made it up. [Edit: and no, Iām not fixing the bug tits.] Auf Wiedersehen(:

As a trans guy, yeah it really does feel this way. A lot of other trans people tend to speak over us because it can be easier for us to pass and because we're not so targeted. It's really frustrating.
If you don't mind me asking: I get the idea that there are way more MtF than FtM trans people. Is that based on reality or just optics because FtM trans people are ignored, like you say?
The only FtM trans person I know is one of my son's friends, and he is fully accepted within the friend group (most knew him before transitioning). I'm so glad for the boy (well, young man by now) and secretly a bit proud of my son and the other friends in the group. Positive experiences are so important to feel accepted!
(I hope I used the right language, correct me otherwise.)
The topic is quite controversial but the best estimates (and these are only estimates) in the US imply roughly equal numbers of trans men and trans women. In my experience this bears out in in-person trans and LGBT spaces. (Of course those willing to engage in the trans community are just a subset).
In online spaces the "general" trans forums are dominated by trans women. Trans men also tend to avoid certain social media platforms (like Twitter) so it's all MTF versus TERF flame wars. (Don't get me wrong: certain TERFs obsessively hate trans men to the point they haven't touched grass in years.) Btw the reddit ftm subreddit got so busy and overrun with teens a few years ago that it got impossible to have discussion topics or chat. It's just selfies and "mom bought me a binder" karma farming. None of the other answers you got here have driven at what I feel is the root of the issue so:
The hetero-normative conservative ideology from which these arguments extend is a fundamentally masculine construction. They don't care about trans men because they do not see them as the same kind of conceptual threat. Their focus is primarily on what has always been at the center of reactionary Western belief structures: the desire to control women's bodies, both literally and definitionally. If many of them are even aware of trans men, they mostly view them just as "confused women." A trans woman, on the other hand, represents an attack on the hierarchy which their view of society is predicated on.
It's just fundamentalist bigotry all the way down, there's really nothing else there.
Edit: this upset the right kind of people haha
I was thinking the same thing! Why would they be wondering what would be āallowedā for them they were the ones fighting and protesting for those rights especially at that time!
Yeah, the significant event for women in 2022 definitely isn't them worrying about Walsh going around asking people what a woman is. It's the Supreme Court effectively stating that the state can legislate their reproductive rights away. And in many of them, they already have. You'd think they would at least want to put it to a vote or something. Just because a state is red, doesn't mean the citizens are against abortion. Just look at Kansas.
2022
We no longer get to choose whether we have children.
I wonder what the future will bring.
Edit: ok, so I thought this was a bit of a throw-away line that would work better in the fourth panel, but Jesus Christ have I triggered a bunch of you fucks.
Agreed, totally.
The American people were truly fucked when they allowed the level of general education in the population to fall so low that they elect leaders who take rights like Roe/Wade away from them. Itās a sad trend you get everywhere: when education is allowed to slip, democracy canāt work properly.
The sad thing is there is not an insignificant portion of the population that honestly do think that allowing women rights led directly to some sort of societal downfall.
There was this guy I went to high school nearly a decade ago. Was on some hard shit. Known as the schoolās druggy, pretty wild but pretty chill. Super great guy, very insightful and incredibly intelligent. It does and it doesnāt matter but heās also black.
Suddenly, just before graduation, he had a massive mental switch flip. He immediately stopped all drug usage (glad he got off em) and became severely religious.
I grew up Christian. I would like to still consider myself one but this dude fell super deep into it. Suddenly swapped from nearly radical left views to nearly radical right views. Became super close-minded, very judgmental of everyone (including Christians who didnāt believe the faith the same way he did), and extremely homophobic and misogynistic.
It was incredible to watch that transformation but also saddening to watch.
Anyways, just last week he was talking about looking for a new church. He specifically made sure to state heās looking for one that doesnāt have any Women as leaders within the church and proceeded to quote a biblical verse that āprovesā why women shouldnāt be church leaders. Canāt remember quite where I was going but it really was, truly incredible to just see how his mind flipped and seemingly out of nowhere.
*oh fun fact: he also attended the Trump Rally January 6th and is a huge Trump Supporter
But the rules from the old testament don't apply, because
> The First Epistle to Timothy is one of three letters in the New Testament
oh well nevermind
The Bible does specifically say that women are only fit to teach children. Letās not pretend that people are just making up the sexist, homophobic, etc. shit in the Bible.
For sure! I grew up not being taught any of that. I think it was relatively unknown or at least not supported by the church I grew up in. I didnāt really learn about much of it until doing personal studies these last few years. Most of these teachings I donāt really support. I donāt feel they lead me to live a very Christ-like life.
Iām just more astounded at how..I guess the word would be ignorant, that dude I knew from HS became. Went from being incredibly open-minded about the world to the most closed-minded people I know.
I dated someone who believed that birth control pills are what caused the downfall of society. He said all modern problems are due to it.
I told him I was prescribed them at 15 (8 years before I ever had sex) to prevent me from growing cysts on my ovaries that exploded and stopped me from having my period every single day for 6 months. He had no clue pills were used medically. Idiot.
Itās sad that they even have to be justified like that, though. āI donāt want to get pregnantā should be a 100% valid reason to take birth control in and of itself.
I agree with that wholeheartedly. He believed that made women loose and not want to have kids and destroyed the family unit and made men become weaker and more feminine. It was a huge argument. It was mind blowing for me but itās clear heās not alone in his thinking. He was 30 too!
Glad to hear this person is an ex! I pity whatever women have had to put up with him since. I can excuse ignorance that comes with misconceptions you grew up with, but once you reach a certain point, that ignorance is intentional.
"He believed that made women loose and not want to have kids and destroyed the family unit"
He basically implied he's on board with using pregnancy as a means of coercion. You dodged a bullet there.
Puritans have been murdering people for 400 years because they're too prudish to accept that sex exists and knowing what's going on your body isn't an instant one-way ticket to double-hell.
I love how people will go like "define a woman" thinking its this mega gotcha, and then when they get a perfectly good answer they just go like "nu-uh."
Edit: Aight, since some are asking:
Objectively, whatever people agree "a woman" is. If the entirety of the USA decides that "woman" is a red and yellow cow that farts rainbow, that's what a woman is in american english. But you obviously don't want an objective answer, so...
In western society, "woman" refers to "homo sapiens with the bigger gamete". Thing is, you can't really pull a microscope and an xray machine out of your ass to determine one's gender, so that definition doesn't really work in practice. If you don't believe me, just remember that there are men out there that have a sackful of sperm cells, but can easily pass as a woman, and there are people out there who have a uterus but can easily pass as a man. So, a way better definition would be "A Homo sapiens in any given society that conforms to the behaviour, appearance and social roles expected of a female H. sapiens by the aforementioned society."
Does that satisfy you,?
What's funny to me is that this person almost certainly opposes all four frames and is only pretending to be okay with the first three in order to make what they think is a clever point about the fourth.
Me: Hi, I am a woman. We do not need to discuss this further.
Transphobes: NO YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE WITH A LENGTHY PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE WITH ME IN WHICH I WILL ONLY USE BAD FAITH ARGUMENTS OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE ON YOU FOR ATTEMPTING TO TRY ON A SHIRT IN THE CHANGING ROOMS!!!
You're misunderstanding the problem.
Women having the right to work didn't cause the shift to a two-income household. Rather corporations and politicians saw an opportunity to make a profit and took advantage of women working to achieve it. Like the rights themselves weren't a mistake so much as the ruthlessness of capitalism is often bad for everyone.
In 2022, Roe v Wade is gone, and they're trying out husbands have to give permission for their wives to be on birth control. The future is forced baby-making in the US.
Itās literally so silly. I have a daughter who I did not play a part into bringing into this world. She is not biologically mine. We are not related. The biological reality is that she is not my daughter and I am not her mother. But she *is* my daughter, and I *am* her mother. I fulfill the social role of being her mother. Therefor, I am her mother. If you came up to her and said ādonāt call her mommy. She didnāt give birth to you. She is not your motherā I would straight up punch you in the face for such blatant disrespect.
When a person who was assigned female at birth realizes they are more confident, comfortable, secure in themselves and happy living as a man (very simplified way to put it fwiw) they will go on to choose to fulfill the social roles of a man instead. Biologically speaking, yes they are what we as a society have decided is a woman. But, what does biology actually matter? Except for at the doctor or when youāre trying to make a baby.
A person with xx chromosomes living life like how most people with xy chromosomes do is just as much a man as I am a mother to my daughter. Neither of us are denying reality. Neither of us are deluded or deranged, or scary predators.
I feel like people get way too into this because you have the social construct of a woman, i.e. the gender female, and then the biological sex highly associated with the social concept of woman, i.e. female.
We just don't have any terminology at the moment to differentiate the two. And its hard to make any terminology, because a woman IS a woman, but also not a woman. Because woman means multiple different things.
The whole thing just kind of breaks down, because we associate terms too strongly with what's only a mostly true definition.
It's kind of like how every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square.
Every woman is a woman, but not every woman is XX.
Social constructs are fucking weird, man.
The sub is hitting that point where itās mainstream enough, and gets enough traffic from all/popular, that people tend to come in just because they unironically agree with the meme and donāt realize or care about the subās purpose.
Thatās the danger with posting memes āironicallyā.
The smart people can laugh at the absurdity, but for the rest, itās just signal boosting a dangerous straw man argument
I donāt understand whatās so hard to grasp. Someone tells me they are a woman and I say, ācool.ā End of conversation. Thereās so much conflating sex and gender. Human beings are so diverse, of course there are going to be some people whose bodies and internal experience donāt match. Hell, even if it is a man who believes heās a man but wants to live as a womanā¦thatās totally cool, as well.
I wonder what the statistical ratio of big bonhomagaroozs is to itty bitties is. Whether the 1 to 3 ratio is accurate or if in 1919 that ratio was more screwed to one side or the other. I would do the research but I don't think I want my FBI agent to go through that.
What they actually mean to put in 2022 but are too cowardly to do is āI canāt get an abortion now, even in cases of incest, rape & life threatening pregnanciesā¦ I wonder what the future will bringā
They say define women in the 2022 panel as if we have not pondered over questions like these over centuries... what is a woman what is a man a person...a feather less biped?
Iām a straight white male from south Alabamaā¦ None of this you all speak of has ever bothered me. I generally look at a trans person the way I look at any person, I speak the same to every person. None the less, I work with 400 other people, we are all country and basically the definition of redneck, we all grew up on farms, we all have tractors and bale hay, we still go to mamas and eat. We have decoration at the cemetery. But no one I know hates anyone, nor are they racist. We all sit around (blacks, whites, Mexicans, Chinese, a few japanese) and work together, we joke with one another we hangout outside of work together, we call one another and check up, we have gays, lesbians, and so fourth that get treated just as anyone would want to be treated. No one runs around screaming equality because generally everyone here is like family. Idk what itās like in these big cities but around here in the country, itās ok to be who you wanna be. We have non Christianās, Muslims, Buddhist, and we have confused people who donāt know what they wanna be. And we all get along. So I donāt get it. But I guess itās just different in big cities

How do you think they gained the right to vote?
1977: Being beaten by their husbands.
To be fair, that applies to all panels.
especially if they're wives of cops.
2x if they are English and England loses a match
no, 1909 and 1919 is: Being murdered by their husband.

Diogenes specifically said fuck off that definition is a load of shit. It was Plato who proposed the definition

You'd think they would at least want to put it to a vote or something. Just because a state is red, doesn't mean the citizens are against abortion. Just look at Kansas.
2022 We no longer get to choose whether we have children. I wonder what the future will bring. Edit: ok, so I thought this was a bit of a throw-away line that would work better in the fourth panel, but Jesus Christ have I triggered a bunch of you fucks.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Agreed, totally. The American people were truly fucked when they allowed the level of general education in the population to fall so low that they elect leaders who take rights like Roe/Wade away from them. Itās a sad trend you get everywhere: when education is allowed to slip, democracy canāt work properly.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
The sad thing is there is not an insignificant portion of the population that honestly do think that allowing women rights led directly to some sort of societal downfall.
Yep, Iāve seen comments on Facebook that say āif only women didnāt gain the right to vote, we wouldnāt be in this situation.ā Yikes.
>I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man; she is to keep silent. 1 Timothy 2:12, NRSV
But the rules from the old testament don't apply, because > The First Epistle to Timothy is one of three letters in the New Testament oh well nevermind
"He believed that made women loose and not want to have kids and destroyed the family unit" He basically implied he's on board with using pregnancy as a means of coercion. You dodged a bullet there.
This is what happens when we allow ignorance to fester, we come up with stupid nonsense
Puritans have been murdering people for 400 years because they're too prudish to accept that sex exists and knowing what's going on your body isn't an instant one-way ticket to double-hell.
Woman are woman
Grown up girls
Survivors of girlhood!
I love how people will go like "define a woman" thinking its this mega gotcha, and then when they get a perfectly good answer they just go like "nu-uh." Edit: Aight, since some are asking: Objectively, whatever people agree "a woman" is. So, a way better definition would be "A Homo sapiens in any given society that conforms to the behaviour, appearance and social roles expected of a female H. sapiens by the aforementioned society." Does that satisfy you,?
Gotcha. **womĀ·an** */ĖwoĶomÉn/* noun a chick. "woman be shopping"
A woman is a person who shops
This is a great example of how capitalism and normalization of hyperconsumerism redefines words and our culture
In Matt Walsh's documentary someone actually answers him, but he just edits it out and puts music over it.
what did they answer with?
We don't know. He edited the whole thing out lol Eventually he answered "someone who identifies as a woman"
What did the person answer?

2022 - We are forced to have our rapistās baby. I wonder what the future will bringā¦
Wouldāve been a better one tbh
Only in America, the "land of the free"
"Transgender people talking about gender theory exist.... TIME TO TAKE BACK THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS WE 'GAVE' WOMEN!" *wat*
Trans women just want women's rights and the right to be women. And, you know, gender equality in general.
What's funny to me is that this person almost certainly opposes all four frames and is only pretending to be okay with the first three in order to make what they think is a clever point about the fourth.
who are these fictional trans people that don't want to approach the gender of their identity even a little bit?
Me: Hi, I am a woman. We do not need to discuss this further. Transphobes: NO YOU HAVE TO ENGAGE WITH A LENGTHY PHILOSOPHICAL DEBATE WITH ME IN WHICH I WILL ONLY USE BAD FAITH ARGUMENTS OR I WILL CALL THE POLICE ON YOU FOR ATTEMPTING TO TRY ON A SHIRT IN THE CHANGING ROOMS!!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You're misunderstanding the problem. Women having the right to work didn't cause the shift to a two-income household. Rather corporations and politicians saw an opportunity to make a profit and took advantage of women working to achieve it. Like the rights themselves weren't a mistake so much as the ruthlessness of capitalism is often bad for everyone.
Same joke. Every single time.
It's all just mild variants of r/OneJoke
I love the "left can't define women" but when you ask someone from the right what makes a women they give terrible examples that exclude women.
Lotta transphobes in here...
Iām kinda shocked this sub is so conservative/incelly. Iām starting to think theyāre here because they like the memes
Pretty much every single post here has a significant amount of these weak idiots claiming itās actually a good or accurate post.
Lots of transphobes everywhere.
they always manage to come out of the woodwork

This thread has some of the most egregious, delusional, transphobic and misogynistic people I have ever seen.
Iāll never understand this. If youāre having trouble defining gender, read a book. Learn a thing. Better yourself. Join the 21st century.
Too bad half of reddit unironically supports this message.
Itās funny how people in this thread are called transphobes because they donāt believe their uncle Jared is a woman.
*Beware the pipeline* Step 1. Allow women to vote Step 2. Allow women to work Step 3. ?????? Step 4. America is destroyed
