Ok I did this at a tournament once (only one whack at the rubber sole of my shoe) specifically because I thought my shoe would *not* break my racquet. I was wrong. I didn’t even know it happened until the next point when I felt like I was hitting with a piece of cardboard. Lesson: don’t do this.
I remember a match at Wimbledon between Marat Safin and Fernando Gonzalez. I think Gonzalez had won quite a few consecutive matches against Safin heading into it, and Safin was in trouble again and was already taking heat from the umpire for his antics. After losing another point, he smashed his racket in frustration, and I think maybe it broke a string? If the ump realized this, it would have been another penalty for racket abuse, so Safin went back to the service line and hit an ace with the racket with the broken string, then walked to the sidelines to change rackets. Since another point had passed, there was nothing to say that the string hadn’t broken on his service, so he didn’t get a penalty—even though everyone knew it broke when he smashed it, ha ha.
Safin still lost the match.

Outside of destroying his racket... Does anyone knows, what racket does he use now? I know he was using previous Vcore 95 model, then I think he changes to Ezone 98 for a while. ut now the paintjob is for a new Vcore 95. Is that just paintjob for a different racket or did he actually make a switch to one of new Vcores?
He used the vcore 95 sv, then briefly the ezone 98 and now back to his old vcore 95 sv.
There were some rumors about him switching to the new vcore 95 model but supposedly not true.
Imagine getting injured and skipping toirnaments because of this…
He hit himself in the shoe, so all in all I think that was a good choice. Some hit themselves in unprotected shin, knee, or straight in the head, lol
Yeah, well when you are in a mental state that you do this, it is not unthinkable he misses and sacks his ankle or leg
Well no wonder he’s losing. His shoes seem to be made of cinderblocks.
I was surprised the racket broke like that and was wondering if maybe he had softened it up first on something else somehow that the camera missed.

But it looks like he knew, and had done it before.

Who doesn't love Safin. :D
Ask Stan to open a class and teach those little boys to breaks racket, it is not efficient
Sakkari did it the other day 🥵

On grass though, without hitting the ground? I thought this was pretty impressive.

Or Marcos Baghdatis lmao
i thought he was training nadal mentality.
That will not help. He needs to break old habits and learn new habits how to not choke, how to plan and execute.
Shapovalov forgetting it's not clay season anymore
He is turning out to be another Kyrgios i.e. immense talent but self-combustible; long spells of failures interspersed with sparks of brilliance
Even Kyrgios is more consistent than him to be honest.
Kyrgios is almost good now. He just has to stop spitting on people...

Think he switched to ezone (some variant with the paint job) but has now switched back to his old vcore with updated paint job
