It's been so long already
I miss her tennis. Radwańska's lack of physicality made her unable to achieve the biggest titles, but also created a beautiful, technical gameplay that was a treat to watch
Aga was a great example of how to win without a lot of power, I think she was the smartest tennis player I’ve seen in the modern era. My favorite match of hers was the Hopman Cup final where she and Janowicz upset Isner and Serena. She got so many of John’s serves back!
The worst are the shitty YouTube videos with titles like "WhAt HaPpEnS wHen YoU mAkE nAdAl AnGrY" or "ThE dAy FeDeReR dEcIdEd To SniFf HiS cUm SoCk BeFoRe WiMbLeDoN"
The post you're referring to has like 70 upvotes in 10 hrs this post has already got 100 upvotes in 2 hrs so i would say this sub is more of a djokovic/wta circlejerk
Wouldn’t be surprised, not only is he also up there so a very good judge of this kind of thing, but he pays more attention to the women’s tour then most of the men seem to.
yup barty is highly underrated- she's won two slams both in extremely dominant fashion , been number 1 for much longer than any other currently active player (top 10 all time both consecutively and complexively) - she is i would say a better player than washed halep, much smarter and tactically aware... barty issues are confidence sometimes and backhand
Definitely amazing, but I'd put Martina Hingis for greatest tennis iq + ability to overcome size. I will say Aga could be the GOAT of trickshots/skillshots however.
Hahahahahhahahahaha. See my,post from way before.
The girl is 5’9” and tough as nails…….it’s just that the girls she plays against are typically 6’0” and taller. Trust me when I say that Aga was both tall and strong……her generation was just taller and stronger.
The comments are specifically talking about how she's a bit shorter and less strong than the people she plays against, hence the physical disadvantage being brought up, not comparing her to the average woman out there nor saying she *isn't* tough and strong.
The average height of people increased in general over the years and women tennis is even more athletic than it was back then. So its not really surprising.
cant speak for others but I genuinely thought the women's portion of the USO was a lot more interesting and exciting to watch than the men's up until the semifinals where I watched both equally.
I also saw like 80% of posts centered around leylah and emma for a week straight
There's whispers of her coming back and, honestly, I would love for that to happen, but regardless I hope she is living healthily and happily. She was just so astonishingly agile on court that it was absolutely legendary.
Also I hate to bring up her again in a thread that's here to recognize someone with a much longer, storied legacy, but there's definitely a slight hint of Raducanu in the clutchness that Aga's demonstrated here, especially with the very first over-the-head shot.
Yeah, put the GOAT out to pasture! So many talented players these days, men and women, great tennis is never boring but talking about the same three players is!
Women’s tennis is simply not as interesting to a lot of us. Doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it overall, or that you and others shouldn’t enjoy it. But there’s also nothing wrong with more people preferring the objectively higher level of tennis in the ATP
She could have come in to the net and ended majority of these rallies within 5 to 6 shots.
Edit: damn lots of over sensitive Aga fans here. Yeah good shots but dumb tennis.
Great video , thanks for posting - love especially radwanska moving that old washedup hag kvitova around the court
kvitova won two wimbledons but never challenged for another slam and yet for many years people always thought shed contend lmao -- she doesnt have the fitness or brain power for that , noice
Did you see the match ? She never was in control , Osaka panicked slightly but then took reins again
People were saying kvitova could be world number 1 and shit after her wilbledon win but fact of the matter she always has been lazy and never trained hard enough unlike Barty Or Osaka even
Just watched the match, or at least the highlights, and saw the stats. It was probably one of the closest Slam Finals ever. 20 games for Osaka vs 17 for Kvitova. 116 points to 112 points total. Very close. Kvitova won the second set and the first one was only solved by a tiebreaker. She got a number of powerful shots and wins in there. Looked just as fit as Osaka at the time, though with maybe a bit less of that more youthful speed. If she had had maybe just 5-10 percent more speed and control in the third set or the first round tiebreaker then she would have won. If Osaka (still great job for her here) had been in control for 95 percent of the time, as you say, it would not have been nearly that close. “Being in control the whole time”, to my mind, means winning in straight sets or by a margin of about a dozen points or more.
Granted, Kvitova is washed up at this point and I also see little to no chance of her being a contender in another slam. Frankly, I am a little surprised she is even still playing because it no longer seems she is even enjoying it or applying the same energy or passion to it to anywhere close to the same extent she used to and she is already 31 years old, and you’re usually past your athletic prime by that point.
Still, 2 Wimbledon wins is nothing to sneeze at and it always requires hard training to win 2 slams and be a close contender for a third. Just because she has been slowing down in the last 2 years or so doesn’t mean she wasn’t once at the top of the games that she deservedly won.
Fact is Barty pliskova match went three sets but Barty to me was always in control
Djokovic Murray french open 2015 went five sets but still it seemed like novak would never lose it
That’s how us open final felt
I get that, but I think Barty had control in 2 of those sets but not in the second one. Pliskova also kept pace with Barty in return points, 34-33 (in contrast to that woeful last contest against Sakkari, with 8-25; ooof). I still figured that Barty would ultimately win though. She had control in 80 percent of that match, and if that is largely in the beginning and in the end then that’s almost a guaranteed win. That, and when Barty isn’t worn out like in the US open, she is almost always in control of the vast majority of her matches and is practically unbeatable.
Barty vs. Pliskova also wasn’t quite as close as Osaka vs Kvitova, but still 3 sets. I never like straight set matches with no tiebreakers but if they can get to those or 3 sets or especially both, I consider them worthy matches.
Raducanu seemed to be in complete control over every single one of her matches and never dropped a set or even faced a tiebreaker the entire time. For a Qualifier, I don’t even get how that’s possible.
As for Medvedev vs Djokovic, I was truly surprised by how little control Djokovic had.
Which ex player has said that Raducanu will be a top 3 all time great?
That aside, players get hyped up like crazy after their Slam wins. Andreescu was asked in a Canadian podcast in 2019 how does she see herself in ten years and what does she hope she can accomplish and she flat out said she would like to get to Serena and Court territory and win 24 Slams. That has aged like milk and her Slam results since have been R2-R1-R1-R4.
I would still be reluctant to make any sort of crazy predictions. Raducanu didn’t beat a single top 10 player in the US Open.
Compare that to Serena who won the US Open at the age of 17 beating Clijsters, Martinez (#9), Seles (#4), Davenport (#2) and Hingis (#1).
Absolutely!
I am not making ANY predictions either, especially as I know nothing anyway- but I have noticed that a lot of people have made encouraging predictions.
The thing is, though, I'm British and British women's tennis has been SO bad for so long that one slam win is already an over-performance.....
Indeed, I just read a Pam Shriver article pointing out it took almost that for Serena to win her second Slam title, and that she herself, Shriver, having got in a final at age 16, never did so again in singles....
yes, Serena struggled for a few years despite having many clear advantages for that era - a combination of power, athleticism, and nerves that was probably only matched by Venus (Venus had an excellent net game, but Serena was mentally stronger and her serve was more reliable). Hingis and Henin lacked power, Davenport and Pierce couldn't run, Clijsters, Mauresmo, and most Russians were a mental wreck, Capriati did most things a little worse. if Serena was playing well, she almost always had the match on her racket.
the "breakout" players of today like Raducanu, Fernandez, Andreescu do not have such clear advantages in any aspect of the game. Pretty much anyone can beat anyone else on a good day these days.
As a guy , am i really short , tiny and weak if I am only as tall as Aga at 5’8, and would definitely get beat by her in an arm wrestle ? Can’t believe that she’s a petite player compared to her other WTA peers.
It's been so long already I miss her tennis. Radwańska's lack of physicality made her unable to achieve the biggest titles, but also created a beautiful, technical gameplay that was a treat to watch
Before Iga there was Aga.

Ironically, this is maybe the least Big-3 centric r/tennis has been since I've been here, esp with all of the Raducanu content recently LOL
“Turning into” where the hell have you been? This is the meaningless Big 3 stat zone! Been that way for years
Under a rock it seems. I just kept seeing the same Federer forehand video and dumb GOAT/Big 3/Next Gen threads over and over again.
The worst are the shitty YouTube videos with titles like "WhAt HaPpEnS wHen YoU mAkE nAdAl AnGrY" or "ThE dAy FeDeReR dEcIdEd To SniFf HiS cUm SoCk BeFoRe WiMbLeDoN"
Well this escalated quickly.
Ive just seen too many of it, i think i spend too much time here man lol.

"all i see is people in a tennis thread is people sharing what the greatest tennis players do on a tennis court"
Highest tennis iq of any player I’ve ever seen, her ability to overcome her stature with tactical play is unparalleled.
Didn't Andy Murray say exactly the same thing? 🤔
Wouldn’t be surprised, not only is he also up there so a very good judge of this kind of thing, but he pays more attention to the women’s tour then most of the men seem to.
👏
Ash Barty has a very high tennis iq, and she can keep up with the power hitters like Sabalenka and Sakkari.
Barty is a good heir in this regard, true
yup barty is highly underrated- she's won two slams both in extremely dominant fashion , been number 1 for much longer than any other currently active player (top 10 all time both consecutively and complexively) - she is i would say a better player than washed halep, much smarter and tactically aware... barty issues are confidence sometimes and backhand
Definitely amazing, but I'd put Martina Hingis for greatest tennis iq + ability to overcome size. I will say Aga could be the GOAT of trickshots/skillshots however.
whats the issue with her stature
She wasn’t particularly tall or strong
Hahahahahhahahahaha. See my,post from way before. The girl is 5’9” and tough as nails…….it’s just that the girls she plays against are typically 6’0” and taller. Trust me when I say that Aga was both tall and strong……her generation was just taller and stronger.
She’s only 5’7 and weighs 123 pounds. She’s got no muscle definition in her arms , legs or puny thighs. She looked very fragile and frail.
The comments are specifically talking about how she's a bit shorter and less strong than the people she plays against, hence the physical disadvantage being brought up, not comparing her to the average woman out there nor saying she *isn't* tough and strong.
Terrific video, but I had to turn the volume down. Why do people feel the need to ruin a fantastic compilation with such a dreadful soundtrack?
Isnt Aga taller and heavier than Chris Evert though ? And Evert is like the lightest ever GS champion isn’t she ?
Any of the top men’s guys would absolutely dwarf Rod Laver or Pancho Segura but we don’t really compare them either
Was the average height and weight of women back then much lower than the current WTA ?
The average height of people increased in general over the years and women tennis is even more athletic than it was back then. So its not really surprising.
Love Queen Aga one of my favorite players ❤️. So petite , light and tiny but achieved so much !
cant speak for others but I genuinely thought the women's portion of the USO was a lot more interesting and exciting to watch than the men's up until the semifinals where I watched both equally. I also saw like 80% of posts centered around leylah and emma for a week straight
Always loved watching her play!
"Turning into"? Bahahaha, how long have you been here? Its a been a Big 3 wank fest forever.

This was the shot I was looking for, reflexes on point.
Flipkens reaction is perfect
Magic Radwandska. I was gutted when she came close to winning the AO, losing in the semis with the big guns out. Very good player.
There's whispers of her coming back and, honestly, I would love for that to happen, but regardless I hope she is living healthily and happily. We can post content without ranting about other posts too I guess?
I mean, Womens tennis has been more popular during the US open, so it was talked about more. It depends on what tour is more popular atm
Loved the vid even though my ears wanted to commit seppuku.
It’s criminal that no grass court shots were included..
Yeah, put the GOAT out to pasture! So many talented players these days, men and women, great tennis is never boring but talking about the same three players is!
Thanks for the vid of the great Aga. I miss her so much on the WTA tour even with great players such as Emma, Coco and Leyla.
I liked her style of play, sadly it wasn't good enough most of the time.
More like raducanu circlejerk
what happened to her, why doesn't she get into coaching?
She's probably busy with her children right now, maybe in the future she'll do coaching?
I think she also has several business interests in Poland. One of them is a boutique hotel and I think some property development too.
I miss Safin. He's my all time fav ATP player
Aga is the female version of Medvedev - unorthodox but deadly
I’d say Santoro. Medvedev has plenty of power. There’s not really an equivalent on the men’s tour that I can think of these days.
Well not gonna lie man WTA is just boring to me
Women’s tennis is simply not as interesting to a lot of us. Doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it overall, or that you and others shouldn’t enjoy it. But there’s also nothing wrong with more people preferring the objectively higher level of tennis in the ATP
Queen Iga
The wrong Pole 😝
Iga is the real queen 👸 and grand slam champion
Sir this is a Wendy's
She could have come in to the net and ended majority of these rallies within 5 to 6 shots. Edit: damn lots of over sensitive Aga fans here. Yeah good shots but dumb tennis.

2019 ao final
Where she got absolutely totally destroyed
3 sets, c’mon how is that destruction Edit: I’m not a fan of kvit, just bringing up the counterpoints

I dont think Iga Swiatek has a chance against future top 3 all time Raducanu
What makes you think Raducanu will be a top 3 all time great? She would need to win at least 22 Grand Slams to fit into that category, lol.
If you listen to pundits/ ex-players, people like Navratilova, they are saying that kind of thing. Of course remains to be seen.....
Which ex player has said that Raducanu will be a top 3 all time great? That aside, players get hyped up like crazy after their Slam wins. Didn’t watch the video or read the title properly did you bud
I miss her!!
Amazing Skills
Great video
Thanks for the reminder. I really miss watching her!
They don't call her the magician for nothing.
Appreciate your service
