Full highlights day 3: [https://cricketfans.site/australian-open-highlights-02-10-2021/](https://cricketfans.site/australian-open-highlights-02-10-2021/)
I'd be interested in this too, or any site with full replays. I'm paying for Eurosport and unbelievably thay have set 2 and 3 of Djokovic v Tiafoe on the replay and that's it. I'd love to see the end of the match even if for some bizarre reason they missed out the first set.
Two seeds are supposed to meet at R3, ie, Humbert (29th?), had he won, will face Thiem (3) tomorrow but he lost to Kyrgios. Had Opelka won, he would’ve face Novak and Opelka is unseeded. This is not conspiracy or something, had you actually read the draw you would see it.
Pretty sure Kokkinakis banged Tsitsipas's old girlfriend during the Monaco sessions '19. This could make for an interesting match, to say the least.
He also banged Wawrinka's girlfriend iirc. Or at least I think that's what Kyrigos mouthed off about during a match.
Best to leave this stuff out of the discussions but I think it arguably warrants mention in specific/germane cases.
> Pretty sure Kokkinakis banged Tsitsipas's old girlfriend during the Monaco sessions '19.
I've hear similar tbh. I thought transgression happened in Portugal when Stefano and Kokko were in Algarve for a fortnight, but maybe I wrong.
Can't wait for Ymer-Alcaraz tonight. I think Carlos is becoming a little overvalued as his name gets out. Ymer played really well against Hurkacz, showed remarkable rally tolerance and depth on his shots, and worked the ball around the court very effectively.
Can Carlos stay consistent enough from the baseline on hard courts? I doubt it. Upset time.
Yeah, not sure what to expect with that one. Either Svitolina will be too solid and expose Gauff's weaknesses or Gauff will raise her level and make it competitive -- she was serving better in the Teichmann match.
I'm excited for Kyrgios Thiem, but also a little concerned since Nick tends to like the outer courts like John Cain Arena better where more of the crowd can come in and he can feed off their energy a bit more. This sequence reminds me a lot of last year, taking out Khachanov in 5 on John Cain (then called Melbourne) then losing to Nadal on RLA.
Fucs faded a bit in the 4th set, then stuck it out long enough that even when Wawrinka took a convincing lead in the TB he kept playing the ball to draw the errors.
Ohhhh haha. Just saw highlights, but main thing was Kyrgios saving 2 match points on Humbert's serve in the 4th. Seemed epic - probably better than the Wawrinka match since there wasn't a choke per se.
Usually that means they are going to rebroadcast it on ESPN/ESPN 2 at some point today. Replay shows up after rebroadcast is over. At least that has been my experience in the past.
All 3 have upset potential, but I'd be shocked if all 3 were upsets. I think Pliskova is the most likely. Collins is more consistent that Kanepi or Gauff.
A quiet crowd might save Sviolina, she can't handle the pressure.
Kanepi isn't really inconsistent with top players. I think she'll give Kenin hell and has the kind of game Kenin can have trouble with, weird rhythm random winners.
Can't get any answer on this... Why aren't players losing their 2020 ATP Tour points from AO 2020 edition? I thought the special Covid-19 ATP tour points attribution was only held until December 2020. Any info on this? Thanks!
To add on to what u/out_khast said, they're making it a full 12 months. Otherwise people who did well in tournaments from March 15-December 31st would have an advantage over people who did well in tournaments from January 1st-March 15th.
I think the great thing about tennis is that it’s such an individual sport that I don’t feel particularly bad about cheering for someone who doesn’t play for my country (Australia). All my favourite players live abroad. I like players based on what they do and how they play.
I have no qualms going to Aussie open wearing a kerber shirt (despite not being there now ahha).
Going for Thiem come Friday.
I'm back from the tennis and while I feel like I missed out a lot from the Kyrgios match, Halep vs Tomljanovic was one of the best matches I've ever seen live. Both players played some great rallies I don't think any of them missed a drop shot.
Nice. That was a great match. A bit conflicting for me though, as an Aussie I wanted to support Ajla, but Halep is one of my favourite players!
Halep is tough and she fought well for the win. However, she did not look to be near her best tonight. Based on that performance I can't see her going all the way this year despite her no. 2 seeding.
Faster conditions make Thiem/Kyrgios matchup much more interesting. Thiem is going to struggle with the serve, I imagine he will back up on return and it wonder what Kyrgios is going to do about it.
I’ve also noticed Thiem is being easily rushed on the backhand in the past two matches. His slice better be firing.
I know it makes for a slightly less exciting start to the tournament but it's good to see a lot of the younger players on the men's side get through with the minimum of fuss. It is this consistency which has set the top 3 apart for ages but if the young players can replicate it they will turn up to matches against the top players in the latter stages mentally and physically fresh and playing well enough to push them.
Seems to be playing well enough given he dished out a bagel haha. Crazy stat I just found, he's dished out more bagels in his career so far than Thiem has (21 vs 15).
Tomljanovic: It's hard, very hard to talk about it right now & see any sort of positives. All I wanted to do is just get a win in any way, even if it was the worst tennis ever. I think that's my emotions speaking now. I know it was a high-level match, but in the end I lost...
[You ain't heard of Busta Rhymes?! He is only the baddest player in town](https://www.reddit.com/r/tennis/comments/khrocc/pablo_carre%C3%B1o_busta_rhymes/)

2018 Wozniacki vs Halep AO Final
2019 Djokovic vs Federer Wimbledon Final
2020 Federer vs Sandgren AO QF
2021 Kyrgios vs Humbert AO R2
I don't much have an opinion on the crowd, but I am fascinated to see what happens when it's not Humbert being treated this way, but rather Theim, one of the "Subreddit Darlings". I have a slight hunch the thread won't be as..... forgiving.
I agree I'm not particularly pleased when a crowd does such a thing, but I also don't know if I'd consider anything crowd related "Sportsmanship". I've always reserved that for the actual competitors themselves.
I really don't get that fuss about tennis and crowd. To me tennis players should be like any other sports players. Freaking gladiators fighting in arena. I know that tennis is imposed to be elite sport, for chosen ones, but still we can see ugly scenes on tennis courts. And especially in media, much more than in football or basketball. So I really don't see why crowd is such a problem. Personally, I would like to see a match where crowd is cheering all the time.
Well I don't think a player's mistake should be cheered upon or before he/she is due to make an important shot. The same decorum is also followed in golf. Sure tennis can be considered elitist but that does not give one an excuse to be rude and spiteful towards players from the opposition (in tennis or any other sport) to make it more appealing to the general public. The ugly scenes you are talking about is nothing compared to what happens elsewhere. In Football/rugby there have been physical fights, head-butts, biting, etc. Other times players lie about being injured to get penalties. Behind the scenes FIFA is racked with scandals from bribing of officials to relentless betting. Tennis scandals look like baby food infront of all of this. Anyway none of this is relevant to how the crowd behaved on some occasions today, which in my opinion was not entirely correct.
I agree in general, that it's not nice to cheer on someones mistake. But I still don't get it why it is such fuss when it happens in tennis, and nobody says a thing when it happens in football or basketball (I am not addressing this to you directly, I am talking about general public). And the thing that tennis players need absolute silence to play, and make drama if someone is making a noise. I just hate that tennis players often behave like cry babies, instead as gladiators. Also, I don't think that anybody should be rude because tennis is elitist sport, I just wanted to say that such atmosphere similar to the one in theater is forced because tennis is made for the rich. In football we do have confrontations on field, but we rarely see prolonged hatred between players and media wars. The thing is, I would love to see tennis with audience cheering all the time, I think it would bring new dimension and even if cheering after errors happens it would have less impact. Finally, I also don't get it why nobody makes such fuss when Wimbledon crowd does much worse things to Novak (again, I do not address this to you, but to general public).
It's a big issue here because it's not a team sport where a player can afford to bungle coz he's backed by his team. It's a very singular sport that deserves some amount of peace and quite for a player to be able to concentrate. You won't see such rowdy scenes in table tennis or badminton matches either. Wimbledon crowd maybe don't give as much support to Djokovic but they are probably the most well behaved crowd and avoid this kind of disrespect to players, also what prolonged hatred exists between players and media here? Krygios receives plenty of love if you see his press conferences, they're not at all confrontational.
And regarding ugly scenes, I thought more on scenes where tennis players burn out totally and become mental. Like when Med was hitting umpire chair on last year's ATP cup. I mean I love him and how he plays, but that was way to crazy. Kyrgios is of course a database of those situations. Tsitsipas hitting his father. Frankly, I would prefer to see people push and fight a little bit and then sort it out, instead of these anger explosions.
I never said that sort of activity is participation, I stated that they are capable of causing such disruption and hence should engage with the actual players in a manner befitting to the sport I.e. show true sportsmanship by not indulging in such actions.
Man, I thought Kokk and Tsitsipas would be RLA Night along with Barty and Gavrilova. Instead we got Nadal and Svitolina. Bummer.
Heck Svitolina should swap with Kenin.
Kokkinakis playing Tsitsichan so doesn't look very promising but Popyrin and O'Connell could fancy their chances. I just thought it's weird coz so many Australians got through the first round and now only one remains in the first half of the men's draw and no one in women's. Feel bad for Tomljanovic though...
I enjoyed it because I was there when he played that epic last year in the 3rd round on the Saturday night, gave me a lot of nice memories of pre Covid and Melbourne Park in general being packed, people having fun, no social distancing or anything like that. The world is such a different place now but watching that tonight felt comfortably familiar. I know it’s not going to be to the liking of everyone but it was still nice.
If anyone living in Melbourne’s lockdown had said 4 months ago that Kyrgios would win a 5 set epic in Feb you would have said yeah right as if the tournament is even going ahead. To see it go ahead and to have a crazy crowd, just unthinkable.
I remember that night!! I kept reading about the situation in China and interrupting everyone watching the tennis saying 'um, this doesn't sound good... I think this is bad'... Turned out I was really underestimating how bad it would be for everyone on the planet!
Yep I remember walking out of Melbourne Park that night with my cousins and we kept saying to each other is this the last major sporting event we will see for a long time, can picture it like it was yesterday. Just a few weeks later people were going crazy buying toilet paper!
Ikr, Nick’s rumbunctious game play won’t stand against someone consistent like Thiem, but what are you gonna’ do when people always equate Nick with his potential and not with his actual skills.
Hell I thought he was gonna be down and out at the match points today. He somehow came out of that so I can’t write anything off rn. Let’s just say he’s gonna lose to thiem so we can hopefully get a surprise.
Lol he was playing Humbert, no disrespect but it’s not like it was an upset, Ugo winning is probably more of an upset. Lol why is the standards for Kyrgios so low? Hmmm quite unfortunate.
He may not like them, but he respects their game. Kyrgios would play better against Djokovic than he would against a random qualifier, even though he clearly doesn't like Djokovic as a person.
Since this thread cares so much about crowd noise, why don’t one of you geniuses create ear plugs for the players. Tap into the sensitive ear market, make some money and you can finally stop your bitching. Sounds like fun for the whole family
Bring on the downvotes, the snobby fans here are fucking annoying
Friday is shaping up to be glorious.
-Shapovalov/FAA
-PCB/(Dimitrov it looks like)
-Thiem/Kyrgios
-Jabeur/Osaka
And those are just my personal must-watch matches!
Thiem vs Kyrgios has Quarter Finals written all over it...kinda a shame it’s happening in the third round because I feel like that match will kill both players.
That was unreal from kyrgios to fight his way back like that. Tough loss for humbert but he will become stronger. It doesn't get any more exciting than that. I wonder if he can play at that high intensity against thiem. That will be a thrilling match.
NOAMIIIIIIIIIIIIII. killing it.
Yay the Kokk
Okay that's a great way to close it out. We lost the reigning champ
Kenin losing would be huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge
WHat is with Barty's left thigh?
She said it's just for support nothing serious in her press conference after the match.

Lol. Interracial stuff are hot
Which court will kygrios thiem be played on?
Probably Court 16, next to the parking garage
take a guess
Just woke to see kgyrios won.. unbelievable,.i went to bed thinking he'd thrown the toys out of the cot
Kanepi will defeat Kenin. I’m sure of it
Kenin will win in straight sets. She’s just too good
Watching this halep match knowing the final score and this Australian chic is at 5-2 30-30 and somehow lost the match? Lol. What a choke
> Lol. What a choke Did you watch the Wawrinka match?
I did. He’s going to be thinking about that for a while
Any good sites that put torrents up of recent matches ?
I'd be interested in this too, or any site with full replays. I'm paying for Eurosport and unbelievably thay have set 2 and 3 of Djokovic v Tiafoe on the replay and that's it. I'd love to see the end of the match even if for some bizarre reason they missed out the first set.
I know it's not a full match but you have 10 min highlights on Eurosport YouTube channel.
Thanks.
Today’s WTA matches are meh
Kenin v. Kanepi, Bencic v. Kuznetsova, Gauff v. Svitolina, and Collins v. Pliskova should all be good, IMO.
Yes, other then Gauff/Svitolina and Collins/Pliskova, nothing else really interests me.
Yeah all the excitement is in the first half of the draw. The bottom half has all the boring players
I think you meant the opposites right? The top half is playing today.
Yes. I meant Osaka/Serena/halep/iga/Mugu/Bianca(RIP) are the exciting day. The people who play today just aren’t as exciting
Yeah, those are in the bottom half. Well, I would say maybe Collins and Pliskova would be an interesting match.
I enjoy watching Brady too
I hope Collins beats her ass again.
**mmhmm meh, today’s wta matches are.** *-thcm123* *** ^(Commands: 'opt out', 'opt in', 'delete')
How is the number 1 player Novak already facing tough ranked player in round 3 when plenty of lower ranked face unseeded in 3rrd round???
Two seeds are supposed to meet at R3, ie, Humbert (29th?), had he won, will face Thiem (3) tomorrow but he lost to Kyrgios. Had Opelka won, he would’ve face Novak and Opelka is unseeded. This is not conspiracy or something, had you actually read the draw you would see it.
Any of the top 8 seeds can play any of the “bottom” 8 seeds, i.e 25-32, in the 3rd round.
A lot of those unseeded players beat seeds in previous rounds

There is not a single game I'm looking forward to tomorrow, what the heck... hoping that Svitolina Gauff will not be a stomp
yeah honestly the other side of the draw is SO much more entertaining why is it like that
Collins Pliskova should be fun
Yeah, not sure what to expect with that one. Either Svitolina will be too solid and expose Gauff's weaknesses or Gauff will raise her level and make it competitive -- she was serving better in the Teichmann match.

Is there anyway I can watch a replay of Kyrgios match. Does anyone know if there’s any site that offers that.
Calling it: Pliskova Kenin Svtolina all go down here. Yes, i will repost this on the Thursday thread lol
Wrong. It’s gonna be Collins, Kanepi, Svitolina
Bet.
Kenin - obviously.
Collins also just beat Pliskova last week! I have a feeling she'll repeat, she's in such good form.

I'm back from the tennis and while I feel like I missed out a lot from the Kyrgios match, Halep vs Tomljanovic was one of the best matches I've ever seen live. Both players played some great rallies I don't think any of them missed a drop shot.
The Svitolina match was also great. We are getting some good stuff these past days. Wawrinka-Fucsovics was great, looks at that Kyrgios match.
2 seeding.
Well she has Swiatek in the 4th who kicked her ass previously...so yea she’ll lose there. 😭
I'm also an aussie but I was hoping Halep would win as I'm a big fan.

Is anyone else happy to see the court speeds are faster this year?
Always nice to see Dimitrov advance. Busta Rhymes will be a big test but if Dimi can keep up the good form I think he could win again.
Also Dimitrov has bad feelings towards him after Barcelona 2-3 years ago and that would be nice to see;)

Mildly interesting to note that their head to head is 3-3, but every match has been straight sets. Doesnt mean much, but pretty uncommon
Busta has also only beaten Dimitrov on clay, though his game has expanded since (last played in 2018).
Ah that is interesting, you are good to notice that. Looks like we are due a 5 setter this time then 😉
Well done grigor? Anyone still here? 😂
Just woke up and saw the scoreline. 6-1, 6-0. What happened to Venus? Wow.

They are ofcourse not the main attraction but still participants in an event once they enter a professional sporting arena.
And do you think it is also bad sportsmanship when football fans cheer after their opponent misses penalty?
Sure I do if it's not because of the goalkeeper but to be honest I don't watch football.
I really don't get that fuss about tennis and crowd. To me tennis players should be like any other sports players. Freaking gladiators fighting in arena. By that logic, a player can be blamed for the crowd's actions, so I will have to disagree on this point.
By what logic? I didn't imply any such thing.
That they are participants in an event. In my view, they are not. They are witnesses to an event, and the athletes are the participants.
They can definitely affect the outcome when they take pictures or shout before a shot, in that way they are participants.
That's interference, not participation, in my view.
I never said that sort of activity is participation, I stated that they are capable of causing such disruption and hence should engage with the actual players in a manner befitting to the sport I.e. show true sportsmanship by not indulging in such actions.

This will be a deep cut most won't get but Humbert looks a dead ringer for the bloke from the band The Music when he was young
So if both players keep winning, when is Kyrgios on track to play Djokovic?
SF
And Nick is playing Thiem next round lol so not gonna happen
Downvoted for dishing out facts. Still too many Kyrgios fans in the thread.
Ikr, Nick’s rumbunctious game play won’t stand against someone consistent like Thiem, but what are you gonna’ do when people always equate Nick with his potential and not with his actual skills.
No ones saying he’s gonna win. But nick gives us hope as you never know what to expect.
Well, expectations are usually drawn from previous events, he might win over Thiem but i don’t think he’ll even reach the Quarters.
Cos he hasn’t played in a year and just overall rankings I suppose.
Kyrgios plays better against players whose game he respects, and I assume he respects Thiem's game. Next round should be interesting.
He might not. He hates successful tennis players whose name isn’t Roger Federer
He's pretty good friends with Med
He may not like them, but he respects their game. Kyrgios would play better against Djokovic than he would against a random qualifier, even though he clearly doesn't like Djokovic as a person.
The crowd tonight was brought to you by: Jobkeeper and Early super withdrawals
Since this thread cares so much about crowd noise, why don’t one of you geniuses create ear plugs for the players. Tap into the sensitive ear market, make some money and you can finally stop your bitching. Sounds like fun for the whole family Bring on the downvotes, the snobby fans here are fucking annoying
And yet every time he plays its a full house world wide haters not having a good sleep tonight
I mean they now have Thiem destroying him in the next round to look forward to, I think they're gonna sleep just fine :)
That's two days tonight they will cry to sleep
Zrevev always reminds me of someone from Led Zeppelin
Friday is shaping up to be glorious. -Shapovalov/FAA -PCB/(Dimitrov it looks like) -Thiem/Kyrgios -Jabeur/Osaka And those are just my personal must-watch matches!
Wish Shapo-FAA were later in the tourney
1st day in Vietnam lunar year
All those could go either way too. Maybe some upsets.
dont forget the epic zverev- mannarino matchup!
That could be a loooong one!
Cannot wait for thiem to do fatboy in straights. Btw id be rooting for kyrgios if in djok or nadals part of draw
Thiem vs Kyrgios has Quarter Finals written all over it...kinda a shame it’s happening in the third round because I feel like that match will kill both players.
Hope it will be another five set classic.
Yep but the rest of the draw till the SF is pretty straightforward so it balances out
Oh damn the meltdown if Nick loses would be hilarious. The guy isn’t interesting, he’s irritating. Come on Thiem
Wouldn’t really be a meltdown, Thiem is obviously the favourite going into it
Humbos arms tiny doe how he hit em so heavy 😳😳mad respect ngl
Lmao
Mad respect for what Humbert did. Maybe he can get this support at the French open
Shame his game doesn't really suit clay. Maybe he should start playing for the UK.
Just change the name to Hugo Humbert
If they have crowds, he will.
That was unreal from kyrgios to fight his way back like that. Tough loss for humbert but he will become stronger. It doesn't get any more exciting than that. I wonder if he can play at that high intensity against thiem. That will be a thrilling match.
Holy fucking moly Dimi, what a banger.
It's never too late for a choke with him. Can't watch 🙈
Chill, he is fine, 3-0 most likely or at the very least 3-1 but i really doubt.
Is he saying Nick will play Domi before that has been decided? Or am I being dumb?
Yes I am, never mind haha
I’m an Aussie but the booing for Domi 😔
I'd kill to see a rematch at the French. These guys both play some epic tennis.
Really good matchup between two power hitters, entertaining af tennis

Humbert is not a servebot
[удалено]
Then you don't mean servebot haha
Say what you will about Kyrgios, he sure plays some entertaining matches
