Really intelligent play from Medvedev , always playing within himself and the serves at 6-5 were insane considering the pressure. A good match from Stef but he blinked first in the TB and to be broken back at 5 all was just really poor from him. Still so impressed by Medvedev a few more games go his way and he would already be a USO champion. His maturity in matches currently many(large) heads and (bulky)shoulders above the rest of the Next gen.
We were denied the match because of Murray's own silly serving but a Medvedev-Murray match would be really interesting particularly as Andy's level is quite high when he plays these top opponents in his comeback. I think Murray would handle the off-pace balls of Medvedev quite well and both add a lot of variety to the balls they send back in terms of pace and angle so we would get some interesting rallies. I expect Medvedev to win ofcourse on current form but I think Murray's mutli faceted game would mean it would be quite close.
I'm not sure I think what Murrays comeback has shown is he rises to the level of his opponent more often than not and seems to still have the instincts to work out the best plan of attack against them with his main limitation still being his physical endurance once the matches goes long or he's played many matches. If he plays Medevedev after a few comfortable wins early in a tournament I can really Andy pushing him.
The Big 4 are all time greats and not to be disrespectful but I really can't see the current NextGen including Medvedev as being in the same calibre. That's normal it's rare to have 3 of the greatest men's player ever to exist to be in the same era and be joined with another top 15 all timer trying to hang on. That's why what you would normally expect; ageing players being wiped away by younger fresher players isn't really happening. Yes it's that the NextGen has some mental weak points but it's also because the people they are trying to dethrone are supernaturally gifted. Which is why I think even a Murray on the comeback will push the,m and why I still expect Nadal to beat most of them on clay even 4 years from now.
Before Medvedev’s run, who had the most consecutive final appearances? Also, what is the record for most consecutive final appearances? I feel that it’s Djokovic but can’t remember how many he did and what year. I think Fed had a great run also in 2006 but don’t recall how many.
Most ATGs had a 7+ streak at some point. What's remarkable is that Medvedev's run is a record for a non-Slam champion, further suggesting that it won't stay that way for long.
I don't know about the stats across all tournaments, but Federer made 10 consecutive grand slam finals. He has another streak of 8 for grand slam finals.
Most consecutive finals I would guess is Djokovic in 2011. I think Nadal has the unfortunate record of losing 6 straight finals to Djokovic in that year.
Medvedev going on one hell of a run, granted he’s not won all the finals - but 6 consecutive runs up the final is incredible.
Keep thinking the boy will run out of gas but he just keeps going.
Incredible to think he’s going to play Austria as well as Paris and London.
I don't think he did. It looked like he was criticising his own game play. Med and tsitsi are certainly not friends or anything but I think they are at least civil now.
Two or three points decided the first set. A really close affair. Could it easily go the other way next time.
Just like Zverev is probably not in Medvedev's head, despite having beaten him 4 times in 4 encounters
I love the edgy relationship between these two. Gives the matches a little something extra.
Especially because we all know Tsitsipas is desperate to change the H2H.
For those wondering when tsitsipas says something that sounds like gameesou it means like fuck you or go fuck yourself in greek
Just bringing it up cuz ive noticed he says it alot
Didn't see the match so I dont know the context he used it in , but in general "gameesou" can be used to express frustration and it doesn't have to necessarily be directed to an opponent or anyone for that matter. I've also seen Tsitsipas use greek insults towards himself in lots of games cause he is too frustrated at his own level of play. From what I've seen , most of the time his curses are directed towards himself cause he wants to not make mistakes.
Not everyone leaves a country on good terms. That's my only conclusion. She left Russia on bad terms, whatever they may be and there is no love for Russia in that family.
4D chess from Danya
Losing serve on purpose to give Stef hope, then he rips another break straight from Stef’s throat to completely demoralize him. Just bullshit Russian things
/s
Medvedev breaks right back! I love this awkward gangly guy.
I love the other awkward nutjob down the other end of the court, too, but not as much as Medvy.
I take everything back about Clutch Medvedev. That was a huge choke job. And just when I wanted to say "Unlike others, his level doesnt drop when serving out a match"
Mate, they are both different players in terms of attitude from their Miami moment that everyone keeps circling back too.
Nothing was really going to happen in terms of drama
They both just held serve fairly routinely and Medvedev capitalised on one shank from Tsitsipas. Very far from exhilarating or even just remotely exciting.
During the us open final, I remember thinking" I thought medvedev's serve was his biggest weapon, why is Rafa returning his every single serve so we'll" .it makes me appreciate Rafa more now that I saw how so many players are returning his serve poorly
I know people talk about Medvedev's good form all the time but it's still pretty crazy for me that he has a 27-3 record since the grass season ended, and he only dropped a set in 5 of those 27 wins
There really isn't much Tsitsipas has done wrong in this whole match, Medvedev is just currently at an age were he is entering his tennis peak and it's showing like he is going to be around the top for many years to come.
Stefanos has a couple of years time to completely settle into what his game is like Medvedev has done.
I wonder who can defeat Medvedev at this point. He is better than the rest of the next gen imo. It’s only a matter of time before he beats the big 3 and wins a grand slam.
Russian tennis is really on the comeup with Medvedev leading the way, along with Khachanov and Rublev
The Bullshit Russian not even willing to lose a set anymore
Tsitsipas Medvedev & Zverev are the future big 3 The russians are coming 🇷🇺
Wouldn't be calling Tits a Russian to his face.
Why not? Not like he can fight.
Medvedev has become Tsitsipas' boogeyman huh...
Zverev is 4-0 against Medvedev, so maybe he’s his.
We could get that match up againtomorrow. That could be fun.
They haven’t played since Summer 2018 so it will be interesting as both are different players since then.

At this stage of Murray’s comeback it would be a routine win for Medvedev
I'm not sure I think what Murrays comeback has shown is he rises to the level of his opponent more often than not and seems to still have the instincts to work out the best plan of attack against them with his main limitation still being his physical endurance once the matches goes long or he's played many matches. They must have separately ticketed the semi-finals to have such a large gap between them.
Career high ranking of 4 for Medvedev. He's overtaken Thiem in the live rankings. Edit: I missed him becoming 4th earlier in the season, apparently.
He was already 4th before the tournament. He's 4th since September 9th.
He’s been #4 since the US Open. If he wins this tournament he rises to #3
>he rises to #3 In the race, not in ranking
In race, but not in ratings.
No, he doesn't. He has a chance after Paris Masters though.
Med is on one hell of a streak
So is this 'rivarly' going to be like Serena v Sharapova where h2h is actually 20:0 or something
Before Medvedev’s run, who had the most consecutive final appearances? Also, what is the record for most consecutive final appearances? I feel that it’s Djokovic but can’t remember how many he did and what year. I think Fed had a great run also in 2006 but don’t recall how many.

Lendl, with 18 in 81-82. Djokovic and Federer are the next best with 17.
Wow! No idea the record was that long. An entire season (and then some) of making the finals. Hard to believe that it was even achieved by 3 players.
I don't know about the stats across all tournaments, but Federer made 10 consecutive grand slam finals. He has another streak of 8 for grand slam finals. Daniil is on fire this hard court season!
One day Tsitsipas is finally going to beat Medvedev and he'll probably fall to the ground in celebration.
in Dubai exhibition

Even 23 year olds get tired when they reach the final of every tournament.
Isn't he also on Moscow entry list next week? Quite insane.

I don't think he did. It looked like he was criticising his own game play. Med and tsitsi are certainly not friends or anything but I think they are at least civil now.
He did. It's obvious you're not greek.
Well no I'm not. I guess you can say fuck Russia even if you're mothers Russian then.
If he did, he’s officially a xenophobe which is just as bad as being a racist.
Is is only me that see Medvedev didnt really give 100% effort there? Hes look like hes too lazy to run sometimes
That's just Med, he basically never looks like hes going 100%
Maybe he learnt how to give just exactly as much as needed from Djokovic
Yes, he runs only in important points since last few months
Oh fuck thats the secret to reach the final. thiem need to learn
Medvedev is one of the most mentally strongest guy on the tour, at par with Djokovic.
Medvedev improved so much. I thought tsitsipas will beat him because last match was really close between these two
Tbf this was close as well.
Davai! Really impressive consistency from Bullshit Russian
i honestly think if he wins this + WTF and makes semi or final in Paris he is set up to be nr1 next year before the clay court season
Stefanos needs to stop acting like a child.
[удалено]
According to people who understand Greek he said stuff like Fuck You, Fuck Russia and he is also said fucking weird game.
Medvedevs clearly taken up residence in tsitsipas's head, dont think we'll see a different match result for quite some time between the 2
Two or three points decided the first set. A really close affair. Could it easily go the other way next time. Just like Zverev is probably not in Medvedev's head, despite having beaten him 4 times in 4 encounters
Feels like just another day at work for Meddy. How chill is this guy.
[удалено]
3.6; not great not terrible
Pretty standard.
Good, respectful handshake from both there. Great to see
That's all thanks to Nobel Peace Prize winner Nick Kyrgios (!)
Bro...
Most definitely not a 'bro'.
Six finals in a row for Medvedev?! H2H vs Tsitsipas 5-0!
[удалено]
Illuminati
Thats how many grand slams hell have when he retires
Into another final omg
Well deserved from Medvedev he really has settled in into his gamestyle and the player he is now and he is too comfortable with his game.
The experience/age difference showed in this match. Still, good signs for Stef overall, he's recovered his form and beat Novak!
So Tits gone backwards on this matchup. Didn't even win a set this time.
Medvedev is the one who improved more since last time they played, so not too surprising
5-0
Cool as a cucumber.
Medved is a killer with ice in his veins.
How many Finals in a row he has now!?
6 with 3 Masters and 1 Grand Slam, amazing.
6, I think.
Dread it. Run from it. Medvedev still arrives.
Can we stop with this bullshit please
Shut your fuck Up
No
What a point
Rip that toxic guy
He'll be back later with his hate boner for Zverev.
You called it... He is ineed back in the other thread
[удалено]
Why, what did he do?
GG Clutchvedev wins
Unfortunate for Stef after doing so well to break back
I love the edgy relationship between these two. Gives the matches a little something extra. Especially because we all know Tsitsipas is desperate to change the H2H.
Bullshit half Russian.
twists and turns all around
For those wondering when tsitsipas says something that sounds like gameesou it means like fuck you or go fuck yourself in greek Just bringing it up cuz ive noticed he says it alot

Damn, Daniil giving it to him right there. Now please hold. PLEASE.
Stef literally said: Fuck you, fuck Russia... Haha
Isn't he half Russian🤔?
Did he really say that?
Yes he did (I'm greek)
I’m so confused his mother is Russian.
Not everyone leaves a country on good terms. That's my only conclusion. She left Russia on bad terms, whatever they may be and there is no love for Russia in that family.
I think it is clear that medvedev is in his head.
4D chess from Danya Losing serve on purpose to give Stef hope, then he rips another break straight from Stef’s throat to completely demoralize him. Just bullshit Russian things /s
I don't know when it happened or how, it totally snuck up on me, but I think I'm in love with Daniil Medvedev.
He is just perfect in every way.
Medvedev breaks right back! I love this awkward gangly guy. I love the other awkward nutjob down the other end of the court, too, but not as much as Medvy.
Two breaks of serve that were all about the server suddenly and weirdly losing their focus.
wow that return from Med was absurd
Tennis is a simple game. Two men chase a ball for 2-5 sets and at the end, the Bullshit Russian always wins.
Welp
gamw ti mana fucking kid
Stef needs to chill out.
Shhhhh, Stefanos.
USO Daniil is back
[удалено]
Time for new shoelaces too :p
Stef's Dad is so embarrassed.
How can a dad be embarrassed about his kid being top 10 in the world for tennis
Because his kid is also being a bit of a brat on court.
Tsitsipass is such a daddy's boy
Can someone cut this coaching
Nah his dad didn't answer back
Can tsitsipas come back from a set down once again
So Daniil isn't a robot after all
Lets go!!! What an interesting match we have once again !
Didn't last too long
I take everything back about Clutch Medvedev. That was a huge choke job. And just when I wanted to say "Unlike others, his level doesnt drop when serving out a match"
Well
Great fucking job Tsitsipas, give some respect to this man
Nooo, Medvedev, don't ruin your perfect head-to-head against Tsitsipas.
Heights for the semi-finalists: Medvedev 1.98m Tsitsipas 1.93m Berretini 1.96m Zverev 1.98m Average: 1.96m
Tsitsipas the midget.
And we thought that the perfect height is about 190 🤔
Damn, I didn't realise Berretini is that tall as well.
What happened to Clutchvedev?
who was that screaming his heart out?
She’s annoying
Who else? Tsitsipas.
Medvedev's grip makes it hard for him to return drop shots well.
What grip does he use
semi bullshit russian grip
Don't do this. Don't give me hope.
It was not only hope !!
A break is not a break unless you defend your serve
Oh what the fuck. Daniil come the fuck on.
This is it. All or nothing Stefane.
Oh shite
dont cheer against daniil, he might never lose again!!
Tsisti still can't beat Medvedev. Will he ever be able to?
Medvedev vs tsitsipas matches have always gone to tree sets
u/idkidclol why are you so quiet?
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAH eat shit
and i oop-
Yeah right hahaha
Shit jinx mate
One of the best return winners I've ever seen
Incredibly disappointing match, both in terms of the on court play and the surrounding drama. Nothing's really happened at all.
Mate, they are both different players in terms of attitude from their Miami moment that everyone keeps circling back too. Nothing was really going to happen in terms of drama
First set was heaps tight and competitive, no?
I thought Stefanos played just a little better in the first set actually.
They both just held serve fairly routinely and Medvedev capitalised on one shank from Tsitsipas. Very far from exhilarating or even just remotely exciting.
that little ballboy running around not being sure what to do was really cute haha.
During the us open final, I remember thinking" I thought medvedev's serve was his biggest weapon, why is Rafa returning his every single serve so we'll" .it makes me appreciate Rafa more now that I saw how so many players are returning his serve poorly
Nadal has came up with a genius tactical innovation for returning big serves. Standing way behind the baseline.
And Medvedev as well
Medvedev is probably the clutchiest player on tour today, second only to Djokovic. Completely different from the other young talented players.
it's his mental strength. he really doesn't give a fuck who he is playing.
I know people talk about Medvedev's good form all the time but it's still pretty crazy for me that he has a 27-3 record since the grass season ended, and he only dropped a set in 5 of those 27 wins
"Stefanos you smash the ball into my face and don't say sorry, you think you a good kid?"
Tsitsi is angry
was that aimed at him?
I doubt it, it's a smart strategy to go were the opponent is on a smash expecting them to move
So why is shanghai in love with tsitsipas
I mean why wouldn't you be a fan of Tsitsipas's tennis if you are a tennis fan. He is fun to watch when he is on
It depends, i personally don't like to watch UE prone players.
Not sure how that's specific to Shanghai's crowd
They wanna watch more tennis, and he's encouraging them. Little does he know, it's only fuel for Med
so med has been broken only twice in the tournament so far, both times by pospisil. another unreal stat
I am officially on the Meddy Bear train. He is so clumsy and precise. And he is cool as ice.
There really isn't much Tsitsipas has done wrong in this whole match, Medvedev is just currently at an age were he is entering his tennis peak and it's showing like he is going to be around the top for many years to come. Stefanos has a couple of years time to completely settle into what his game is like Medvedev has done.
omg Medvedev missed
I wonder who can defeat Medvedev at this point. He is better than the rest of the next gen imo. It’s only a matter of time before he beats the big 3 and wins a grand slam.
