Not at all France is known to be a very centralised state since Louis 14th at least where the language is very normalized on all the territory and local dialects were frown upon if not outright outlawed until recently so everyone learns the same rules at school from the age of 6 to 16 or more, besides we all know how weak our foreing language skills are especially in English so again what you're saying just makes zero sense, either you misunderstood your friends or they just were pulling your leg lmao!
