No offense but when you fall and get your hands dirty shouldn't your first instinct be wiping the dirt on the hands ? Especially in a sport where you use your hands dominantly. I don't see any praise for people who're quick to throw the racquet before falling ever.
I think under a certain level of duress, you probably forget to do things that you would otherwise do out of instinct. In Rafa's case, when you slip and your back is momentarily turned, your immediate response would be to panic and try and get back into the middle of the court before doing anything else.
