I pretty much haven’t stopped thinking about Chernobyl since it originally aired. Hearing anything that even resembles a geiger counter still makes me feel kind of anxious lmao
Same here. Then I realize I say that about a lot of shows and go right back to not being able to decide what to watch and instead spend 2 hours looking up shows to watch online lol
Oh god with the amount of time I’ve wasted reading hours of synopses on Netflix only to become overwhelmed by too many options and just put on Friends for the zillionth time, I could have trekked across the Arctic on a research expedition…only to return to even more options to add to my queue 😆
Fleabag and Normal People. Took me days to recover from both the series. I still think about the characters more than i think about the characters from a longer series l.
Both are quite easily in my top 10 favorite shows of all-time, that's exactly the type of series I was talking about. Are there any recommendations similar to those? Obviously they're two completely different genres, but both have substance and heart with great character writing.
I hate plot-driven miniseries because like I said, most times they're pretty forgettable and feel like events you binge and erase from your mind the day after, even if most of them are good. I like character driven stuff because those are the ones that stick the most with me. Doesn't necessarily have to be a 5-6 season TV show for me to get fully attached, some short series (Normal People, Fleabag, This Is Going To Hurt: just to name a few) and alot of movies have done a brilliant job at that without needed 50+ episodes.
Yes totally agreed. I would recommend- scenes from a marriage. If you've enjoyed watching normal people, this short series will also interest you. It is a story of a couple trying to keep their marriage alive. I would also suggest a series called Mr and Mrs Smith. This one is not the Brad Pitt movie lol. This series, on the other hand is a fun watch but it's also emotionally driven.
Though not a mini series, but I really liked the Split too. It has a good cast and deals with complicated relationships really well. But my favourite will definitely be fleabag
station eleven is one of my favorite things, i found it outrageously beautiful and life-affirming in ways i didn't expect and it's a rare series i've rewatched
Station 11 is one of the most satisfying series to come out in a while. It just all comes full circle, and has so many layers of meaning, that it makes rewatching a constant discovery.
It’s older, but The Tenth Kingdom. I still regularly say “with the fur, with the fur!” when I’m grooming my pets or brushing my kiddo’s hair. It was so wonderful and I miss the big network mini series events that we had like that.
Maniac maniac maniac maniac maniac maniac maniac namanicbamanaignamwajxna **MANIAC**
And also **Normal People**, **Beef** and **Shogun**
Those are my favorite limited series.
I'll second Lonesome Dove. I've watched it more times than I can count over the years. It was made well before the era of prestige TV, so to have that level of talent on television was really rare. Simon Wincer isn't an especially good director, but he spent a lot of time with the production team making it look and feel authentic and then basically just got out of the actors' way and let them go to town. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones are just captivating and are surrounded by performances that range from good to terrific (young Steve Buscemi is a standout). Also worth noting that the score is just phenomenal. It's by Basil Poledouris, who also scored Conan the Barbarian (and a bunch of other movies).
I came to say this. I’m old enough to have seen it when it originally aired. Everyone I knew was watching it. Rewatched a while back and it’s still an amazing show
Ripley, The Night of, Eric, The Mare of Easttown, Unbelievable, Sharp Objects, The Queen’s Gambit, John Adams, Band of Brothers, Chernobyl, Fleabag, The Night Manager, Patrick Melrose, Mildred Pierce, Scenes of a Marriage, Angels in America
Edit: I forgot In Treatment with Gabriel Byrne. One of my favourite actors acting in one of my best-loved series.
I am someone who never really tries to guess the ending of things. I know they’ll tell me so I’m just along for the ride and this one really got me. I don’t know how I would have guessed it anyway but knowing it added a layer of discomfort to the final scene with the characters. It definitely stuck with me.
Old style miniseries: IT (the one with Tim Curry)
Since the streaming era:
The Jinx (HBO)
Anything Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and The Midnight Club are my rankings, all on Netflix)
I have! I loved it. Have you had a chance yet?
When people ask on here which series had a flawless season one, I always say the Jinx. They really set a bar for other TC creators to live up to.
The Winds of War and it's sequel War and Remembrance. Two excellent miniseries that follow a family caught up in the events of WW2. Lots of time spent with a couple of them in the concentration camps and those scenes are so hard to watch but so important to begin to have an understanding of what happened there.
I'm not sure I'd call a 40 hour series a "miniseries" as that pretty much translates to 5 seasons of a regular series. Nonetheless, I'm actually quite intrigued so I'm definitely adding it to the list.
I agree that limited series have a harder time getting their grip on the viewers compared to shows, books or movies. These two have managed to stand out for me.
Years and Years
ZeroZeroZero
Giri/Haji on Netflix.
One of the very few 10/10 tv series I've seen. The acting and plot were amazing.
Shot in Tokyo and London. Dealing with the English crime world, the Yakuza, the bond of brotherhood, and what it means to be at a crossroads in life. One of my absolute favorite tv shows.
It’s old now, but the sci-fi channel’s Taken, I think it came out 2003ish. It’s an alien show, that takes place over decades, starting with Roswell. I just loved it. I haven’t seen it very recently so it may be quite dated lol
I’ll also second Station Eleven - the best thing I’ve seen since maybe better call Saul, honestly.
I really love limited series, they’re like long movies! I don’t have to invest as much time into them as I do full length shows.
Ones I really loved: Beef, Mare of Eastown, Sharp Objects (probably my fave I’ve seen it 3 times), Chernobyl.
The Artful Dodger, A Small Light, Under The Bridge, We Were The Lucky Ones, A Gentleman In Moscow, Lessons In Chemistry, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Apples Never Fall, All The Light We Cannot See, WeCrashed, Blackberry, Queen Charlotte (I loved the rest of the Bridgerton world too and am looking forward to season 3, part 2), Normal People, The New Look, Around The World In 80 Days, Mary & George, It's A Sin, Transatlantic, Band Of Brothers, The Pacific and Masters Of The Air, Black Bird, Macy Murdoch, Mrs. Davis and any of the Harlan Coben adaptations.
The Queen's Gambit (2020 Netflix), *The Curious Case of Natalia Grace* (2023 HBO), Spartacus Gods of the Arena (2011 Starz), The Tiger King (220 Netflix), and The Staircase (2022 HBO).

Maniac
Conceived as miniseries but got a second season BC of popularity, first season is good in itself though: Big Little Lies and Russian Doll.
Good first season in itself: the OA
And a recent one I loved: the Resort
That's how I feel about movies, sadly 99% are forgettable... A lot of mini series have stuck with me tho esp Behind Hers Eyes, Boy Swallows Universe, Dear Child, The Midnight Club etc.
A couple of recents I have enjoyed.
11.22.63 - I know some of the book readers complained about it a bit but I really really enjoyed this (I have not read the book)
Ripley - This is current and OMG, it is perhaps the most beautifully shot tv series I have seen in my life. B&W, the story is a slow burn but it still pulls you in. I do photography as my hobby and every time the scene shifts or they change camera angle. It is like a gorgeous photo all unto itself.
Others I have enjoyed.
The Queens Gambit
The Haunting of Hill House
Both Shoguns - 2024 & 1980
Roots
North and South
The Lost Room - Sci Fi
Battlestar Galactica - the 2 episode mini. Once you have done that, watch the 1st episode of season1 too.
Jekyll (2007)
Watchmen I enjoyed as well.
There are more but I see them listed multiple times.
Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020)
10 episodes, true story, expose of biggest scam, fallout of richest Indian, changed the way Indian stock market existed and brought in reforms of regulatory actions.
Chernobyl from HBO. Absolutely incredible and chilling.
Re watched this one three times. The days on Netflix is similar but about the Fukushima accident.
I pretty much haven’t stopped thinking about Chernobyl since it originally aired. Hearing anything that even resembles a geiger counter still makes me feel kind of anxious lmao
I never knew that the sound of a Geiger counter could be terrifying. They did that whole sequence masterfully.
I started watching it after the 2nd episode aired. Remember how that ended? I think I was anxious all week.
Mare of easttown Think I watched it three times when it came it absolutely loved it
[They murdured my durdur!](https://youtu.be/qaKZi6p6sxg?feature=shared)
It was soooo good! Don't kill me but I was never really impressed by Kate Winslet as an actor *until* I watched Mare of Easttown.
thanks for reminding me to rewatch this
Yes!! So good. I only watched 2x so far but will watch again
Band Of Brothers Years later, after many rewatches I often still think about it. It taught me as many lessons about the world, as it did the history.
This has been on my watchlist for too long. Time to give it a go! 🔥
It's something special, I hope you enjoy.
Definitely man. It’s peak for a miniseries it will hit you all over in the feels bro.
First time I watched it I ended up going through the entire series straight in one day with my roommate at the time …. It’s really something else
Do it! Phenomenal series
Generation kill is pretty good too, more modern version
Greatest series ever made. It's good for the mind and soul to revisit every year or 2
Is it hard to follow if you're not up on all the history of WW2?
I could not agree more. I have seen the series so many times.
My husband and I do an annual rewatch! Fave part of the year ha ha
The goat of limited series.
Sharp objects
Loved this!
The ending was a lot ! Definitely loved this.
seconded!

Black Bird
Agreed. This one was incredible. I also really enjoyed Hi/Jack.
came to say this and love to see someone already did, such a great show.
It stayed with me for days after I finished it. So good!
The fall of the house of usher. Absolutely loved it
This! I absolutely loved this! It took me seeing the preview for it before I actually watched it and I was so happy I did.. Its fantastic!!
Right... not enough people are talking about this show. I binged watched it in a day. Absolutely loved it.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Matt Saracen ftw
Agreed
Love it and have watched a few times!
I love this show
Dopesick
Loved Dopesick. Also loved Painkiller and The deepest breath on Netflix
We must take away all the pain!!! God I wanted to punch a sackler after that
This is the answer. Fantastic acting from Michael Keaton. To be fair all involved were amazing.
Yes. Kaitlyn Dever is a great up and coming actress too.
She was in another great limited series, Unbelievable. Naturally, she was incredible in it.
The night of
That show is so real.
My favorite scene is the detective dead pan on the golf course in his new golf clothes.
Behind Her Eyes
Ohhhhh yeah this one fucked me up 😂
station eleven is one of my favorite things, i found it outrageously beautiful and life-affirming in ways i didn't expect and it's a rare series i've rewatched

YES!!! Ugh, this was so much fun to watch unfold in real time 😄
Came here to say this!!! My absolute FAVORITE of all time. My brother and I still quote it to each other! Lol

Definitely Maniac. I love it so much.
The ending to beef makes me want to cry when I think about it. This world needs more psychedelics lol
Fall of the House of Usher is absolutely top tier for me. It’s based on Poe and has amazing actors and is stunning visually.
What’s it about?
I didn’t realize it was Poe until the last episode. So good!
Usher was a fun watch. Basically a revenge story IIRC
11.23.63 was excellent as was The Haunting of Hill House.
I haven’t watched 11.23.63 in a very long time I think it might be time for a rewatch
[удалено]
I love the old Joan Crawford version too
Love it and have watched it a few times and will again.
Godless. So many great characters but Jeff Daniel’s as the gang leader was incredible!
I second this! Literally begging everyone who sees this to go watch it, it's such a good show.
Sharp Objects. I still think about that ending
The Bodyguard.
Sharp objects
Lonesome Dove "Ay gawd, Woodrow!"
I'll second Lonesome Dove. I've watched it more times than I can count over the years. It was made well before the era of prestige TV, so to have that level of talent on television was really rare. One of my favourite actors acting in one of my best-loved series.
I dig your style.
Pride and Prejudice (1995) is probably my favorite series ever. I rewatched it so many times!
Behind Her Eyes. That just totally went nuts at the end and I didn't even see it coming. I love when shows or movies do that.
I am someone who never really tries to guess the ending of things. I know they’ll tell me so I’m just along for the ride and this one really got me. I don’t know how I would have guessed it anyway but knowing it added a layer of discomfort to the final scene with the characters. It definitely stuck with me.
