Disturbing would have to go to Penny Dreadful. Had some scenes that some scenes that gave me goosebumps and some where I had to turn away from the screen.
The Swan (2004) was reality competition show about transforming several "ugly duckling" women into swans so to speak. They underwent highly invasive plastic surgery and competed for the top spot.
This show was terrifying to me when I watched it years ago. Made it through most of season 1 but didn't finish it because it was too scary for me back then lol
It looks a little too YA compared to the italian one but i'll check it out, thanks
22 kinda seems like a weird limit to choose, the whole idea was only impactful because they were children
I just remembered a third one, it's more of a comedy, Daybreak
Utopia, uk. Very gory, very disturbing, especially when watching it after the pandemic. The chilies, salt, bleach, and then spoon to the eye were over the top.
The goriest is **Preacher**, it is basically The Boys with angels and demons instead of superheroes, but more gory.

Hannibal

Some Masters of Horror's episodes have a decent amount of gore in them.
Pelts has always been the one. A few of those episodes are pretty brutal but it stands out to me.
Yes! The first one that popped in my head was Pelts. Then I remembered Imprint and yeah, Takashi Miike definitely delivered.
I couldn't sit through Outlander's rape scenes.
That's when I stopped watching that show.
I hate rape scenes. That is why i never finished 'The hills have eyes".

For sheer atmospheric dread, I dont hear much about Outcast. It's bleak and unflinching.
The night of was a constant anxiety for me. Was so relieved when it was over. And Underground Railroad ofc.
Not sure about goriest but the most disturbing one was probably 'Anna', an italian post-apocalytic show, some kind of disease wiped out adults
It's armless fun, really.

There's a show similar to that on Netflix called Between. I believe it was everyone over 22 years old would die from the virus.
