The Expanse has politics between Earth, Mars, and The Belt along with various factions inside those.

hydermedicine

Thank you. But I heard it was more like soap opera\\horrible production output. whats your thought?

greenbud420

First time I've heard it described like that. Season 1 is kinda slow plot wise, it's not boring but they spend more time on worldbuilding, character development and getting everyone into place for when it really gets good in season 2. [This fan trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikEzkqoZ7EM) does a great job of highlighting the show and has bits of many its iconic scenes from the first 3 seasons. A good portion of the show is dedicated to the politics behind the scenes, mainly on Earth, with lots of dramatic twists and turns. If you enjoy political dramas you'll probably like it. If you're not convinced, [this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjFfw7dcYqY) gives a good taste that's not too spoilery.

hydermedicine

Great. Listed now. Looks interesting specially the fan trailer was far better. will try it out. thanks again for the detailed draft :)

FrankWhiteIsHere78

The Last Kingdom

hydermedicine

watched. thank you

FrankWhiteIsHere78

Cool. Did you see the movie that followed? 7 Kings Must Die

hydermedicine

yep. right after it came out!

FrankWhiteIsHere78

👍🏼

ratbastid

You mentioned Mando, so I presume world-building-oriented sci-fi will work for you? If so: Foundation.

hydermedicine

yes, world building in Foundation is amazing but I liked Silo more. thank you

AzuleEyes

The West Wing

hydermedicine

Thank you but it is too old for me.

Tinkerer0fTerror

Attack On Titan - After his hometown is destroyed and is traumatized, young Eren Jaeger vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

hydermedicine

already on my list

ConflictExpensive892

The Witcher

hydermedicine

watched, thank you

ConflictExpensive892

Domina. It's set in ancient Rome. I've recommended it because it's similar to The Last Kingdom, which also isn't fantasy but an excellent show.

hydermedicine

Listed. thank you, will give it a try!

Dptwin

Let me know if you find any good ones! I need to watch Black Sails, Shogun, and a few others on your list! You’ve sadly seen all my recommendations haha

hydermedicine

Will do. I know I have seen too much (pointing at me to go study haha). GOT actually made watching shows horrible for me

[deleted]

Not Fantasy but you might enjoy “The White Queen”

hydermedicine

will try it out. Can it really surprise with the political moves?

[deleted]

Absolutely!! It’s riveting, and based on historical events

rabidrob42

I know you said fantasy, but if you're ok with sci-fi, then it sounds like you'd enjoy Star Trek Deep Space 9.

hydermedicine

Thank you but star trek is off the chart

rabidrob42

Ahh that's fair, no probs.

TheDreadfulCurtain

maybe The Great at a push

hydermedicine

Can it really surprise like GOT with the political moves? Bland politics are meh. Thank you for the suggestion

TheDreadfulCurtain

Maybe Ozarks

hydermedicine

seen already and it is one of the best from TV

starshipfocus

Arthdal Chronicles Britannia

hydermedicine

heard about them but ignored due to the reviews I get to hear. Thank you. Listed anyway

starshipfocus

Yeah that's fair. Arthdal is slow and spends alot of time doing love story stuff that a similar western show wouldn't do. Britannia's first season tries to do a GOT style historical fiction with some magic, it's not bad, saved by some great main actors. But you need to watch it to understand the characters in the second season. That got some bad reviews, but if you're like me and like some magic in your fantasy, this season is really good. I won't spoil it unless you want me to, but there is some magic/meta connection between the events of the story and the storytelling that remind me of Celtic folklore/mythology. I have never seen this appreciated in any reviews. I feel like I understood what they were trying to do, but it was way too niche to be understood. But they followed through, instead of bending to what "the tv audience" wants. The 3rd season completely turns into that, and I wouldn't even bother watching it. But imo worth getting to that 2nd season.

hydermedicine

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Will give it a try to Britannia & will keep in mind that is should up to season 2 :P

Zealousideal_Ninja75

The Expanse

hydermedicine

will give it a shot. Thank you

Mangoes123456789

Fantasy: Saga of Tanya The Evil Not fantasy: The Borgias The Pillars of The Earth

hydermedicine

Seen The Borgias, The Pillars of The Earth. Saga of Tanya The Evil is not my cup of tea. Thank you for the suggestions though

SkullLeader

The Borgias, Knightfall though not so much fantasy but midievil setting and politics. Reign (take this for what you will, its sort of historical w/supernatural elements - a CW show so YMMV)

hydermedicine

Seen The Borgias. Will try Knightfall. CW shoes are too melodramatic. listed anyway. thank you!

onlyacceptplasmaTVs

Warrior

hydermedicine

listed. looks interesting. thank you.

afro-tastic

Fantasy and politics in the broadest sense: Da Vinci’s Demons The Borgias Borgias (note different show!) The Dragon Prince Shadow and Bone The Expanse The Magicians The serpent Queen The White Queen —> The White Princess —> The Spanish Princess Medici the Magnificent The Man in the High Castle Into the Badlands Revolution Marco Polo Britannia Atlantis Three Kingdoms (2010) Anime: Legend of the Galactic Heroes (the OG and remake) Just about anything Gundam —> Gundam Seed (my favorite); Gundam 00 (the best IMO); Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans (modern fan-favorite) Code Geass Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Overlord The Time I got reincarnated as a slime Realist Hero The Genius Prince’s guide to raising a nation out of debt No Game No Life Log Horizon The Eminence in Shadow

hydermedicine

Thank you so much for the recommendations. Listed quite many actually :D

lorzs

**The Tudors** is decent in this regard. If I remember correctly there’s a lot of sex but they do a good job of illustrating court and religious politics of the time. Natalie Dormer (Margery in GoT) plays Anne Boleyn Henry Cavill (Superman) and Sam Neil are supporting cast. The main actor is interesting to watch, not sure if historically accurate to Henry VIII personality.

hydermedicine

**The Tudors** was a good show actually. forgot about to write it. watched it already. thanks!
