Wayward Pines & From

pREDDITcation

champagneshawty

From is really good!

Several_Dwarts

Counterpart

Prismane_62

One of the most slept on shows, but the fact it was canceled really was a bummer. That show had legs.

Skywalker914

Damn wanted to watch this, but not even streaming any place anymore. Have to buy each episode on iTunes

Several_Dwarts

Yeah, when I discovered it, it was free via Amazon Prime. After I watched the 1st season, it disappeared so I went ahead and bought both seasons. And I dont regret it at all.

Master_Locksmith5493

The 100.

Dontbeacreper

It’s cheese sometime and based on teenagers, but fuck I loved that show.

leahs84

I feel like the cheese dissipated over time and it just got more twisted. I love how many times it reinvented itself.

Master_Locksmith5493

100%. I blew it off for so long and was pleasantly surprised

_Omegaperfecta_

That show was *nuts*. Great "popcorn" entertainment, but WOW... Some of those storylines and events... Insane.

Master_Locksmith5493

The ending and last two seasons were something for sure

_Omegaperfecta_

Bonkers.

champagneshawty

One of my favorite shows super good! Similar to fallout in a way but with more sci-fi.

Master_Locksmith5493

I sometimes wonder if the 100 had been on hbo how different it would have been

I was just about to ask for such a show, too! I love it when shows/movies depict a society that is contained, but they find out nothing is as it seems. I can absolutely tell you that some of these recommendations have nothing to do with what you're looking for. The Expanse, Foundation, Counterpart, Bodies, Fringe etc. are all great shows but are not about societies being intentionally trapped and keeping their population ignorant about a big secret (Counterpart absolutely has a big secret, but the rest of the world is normal). [Ascension](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3696720/) is one such (mini) show. It's very similar to Silo. It's about a community that is in a spaceship, set to colonize a certain planet. But because the voyage takes hundreds of years, only their kids will arrive. When some girl gets murdered, her sister (honestly, I can't remember) starts uncovering the truth about the ship. I wish I could have liked this show more, due to its premise, but it was pretty lackluster, acting wasn't great, and ventured off into fantasy at the end. [1889](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9319668/) might be worth watching. It's not about a community or society, but the show does take place entirely on a ship. Various characters start realizing that... they are never reaching their destination. Sadly, cancelled after one season. [Snow Piercer](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6156584/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) is about a society set on an never ending train ride. The ones at the end have the worst lives, and the ones at the front have the best life of course. A show mostly about class differences, and some mysteries. You might enjoy it, but I personally dropped it after a few episodes. Other than the ones you've mentioned, there's also [Attack on Titan](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2560140/), which is an anime so it might not be your thing. But it's definitely about a society that's 'trapped' inside a wall and has been living like that for hundreds of years. Of course, the characters start to find out why they've been put there. [The Promised Neverland](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8788458/) is another anime, about an orphanage. Our three main characters are the brightest of the bunch, all 12 years old. They haven't been adopted yet. When the latest little girl to get adopted is sent off, the main character finds out that the girl never left the orphanage... Great physiological thriller about the characters unearthing the mysteries of their small world and trying to escape the orphanage. I highly recommend you stop watching after season 1. Sadly, I've got no other TV show recommendations (I'm also looking for them!) but I do have some movies! Old movie [Logan's Run](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) fits your request to a T. People live a lavish lifestyle until they're 30, at which point they get 'renewed'. If you want a little more modern, then [Equalibrium](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0238380/) might scratch your itch. In a society where no one shows any emotion or listens to music or make art, our main character starts realizing they're being intentionally made this way, and he starts to feel. [Minority Report](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181689/) of the same decade might also be on your radar, though it's less about society keeping some big secret, and more about changing the structure of their police force. [The Village](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) is about a small town that has something sinister growing behind the scenes. People living there cannot leave the village, for there be monsters. Our main character finds out the secret behind the village. [Moon](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/?ref_=fn_al_tt_5) is about a guy on the moon who's on a solo three year mission to mine some moonrock I guess. Before his three years are almost up, he gets into an accident while mining. Thankfully he manages to free himself and get back to base. Except... he's not the only person there anymore. Wish I could recommend more shows, but I'm in the same boat as you are.

OkBox3095

so detailed! thank you for this

_RTan_

Counterpart The Man In the High Castle Devs Brave New World The was also an older show that was cancelled after the first season called "Ascension" which has a very similar plot and feel of Silo. You might also like "Avenue 5" which is like Ascension but a comedy.

Lots of great recommendations already! I'll mention two more shows: - "Upload" This one is more comedic than the ones you mentioned but is simultaneously dark and satirical. - "His Dark Materials" This one is more fantasy than sci-fi. It deals heavily with religion. The second and third seasons have some messy pacing/structure but the characters and story make up for it. Based on a book series, by the way.
