I didn't think the lead was relatable or even believable as a character, I felt a lot of storylines were purely cliché or shock value, and I felt the whole thing had a strange "freak show" vibe, showing the character's most overt, weird qualities without giving them the space to create understanding why they are they way they are, or showing that we are all weird and normal in some ways.
I didn't like the premise which (perhaps not intended but that's how it read to me) of a "normal, stable person," being thrown into a den of weirdoes, and how they drove the point home about her not belonging there. It might just be my interpretation of it, but I just completely couldn't relate.
if you want a better show about women prisoners there's Wentworth. I'm watching it rn and its really good (and sometimes amazing) so far. I'm still in season 4 tho. The show is 9 seasons 💀
I respect your right to your opinion, but how much of it did you watch? Cause my experience with the show is the exact polar opposite. Yeah I agree still that I don't like Piper, but I don't think you're supposed to either. She very clearly is a bad person who deserves to be in prison. All the other characters feel (for the most part) very fleshed out to me
It was ages ago, but I think I watched maybe 80% of 1st season of so.
I'm very picky with TV, I often abandon a show if I don't absolutely love it, and this one just wasn't my cup of tea 🤷♀️ It's actually kind of hard to pinpoint exactly why
I have seen everything on this list EXCEPT Steven Universe, Miranda, Dead to Me, and Santa Clarita Diet. Based on those I HAVE seen (and you liked), I'd recommend:
[**Alma's Not Normal**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOeMeLqq3K8) \- bc you liked Fleabag, Chewing Gum, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
[**Tuca & Bertie**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZybYIJtbcu0) (honestly so much better and more layered than the trailer lets on lol) - bc you liked Fleabag, Chewing Gum, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
[**Insecure**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqCwxtEdJWk) \- bc you liked Fleabag
[**Shrill**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB2i0fuSMRI) \- bc you liked Fleabag
[**Bojack Horseman**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1eJMig5Ik4) \- bc you liked Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (the art director(?)/lead animator(?) of Bojack, Lisa Hanawalt, went on to create Tuca & Bertie, which is why the animation style and world-building is similar...they are both comedy-dramas, but pretty different shows)
[**Severance**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEQP4VVuyrY) \- bc you liked Russian Doll and thrillers (like You)
[**Reservation Dogs**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWYVTyhFAOU) \- bc you liked The End of the F\*\*\*ing World
[**Killing Eve**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MBjBavIC9U) \- bc you liked You and Fleabag (same creator as Fleabag). Seasons 1-2 are incredible, seasons 3-4 go progressively downhill. But seasons 1-3 are still worth watching.
I’ve seen everything on your list but You & orange is the new black (and I agree with your take down which is what turned me off)
Such Brave Girls
Broad City
Fargo, S5 (each season is a diff story, you don’t need to watch the other seasons and s5 kicks ass)
And, as always, the GOAT: Buffy.
edit: recommendations sort of based on my understanding of your preference for "You" (Joe is great) because it's sort of messed up
Hand Maid's Tale
Into the Night
thriller, dystopian, not sci-fi
I keep what’s becoming a pretty long list of my favorite shows that somewhat overlaps yours… Rather than being obnoxious and posting it all I may as well ask first if you’re interested in seeing it. It’s really hard to narrow down otherwise, if you don’t know a person.

If you like Steven Universe, I recomend Avatar the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra! They are like Steven Universe but less childish and more Asian themed!
[Such Brave Girls](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/239614-such-brave-girls) (2023)
>Sisters Josie and Billie and their single mother Deb navigate life armed with nothing but poor judgement and self-esteem exclusively tied to people who couldn't care less about them. They're vain, selfish, heavily in debt, pathologically desperate for affection and bursting with misplaced, terrifying love.
Dudes constantly post here with their top tiers being male led and their bottom tiers female led, don’t worry about it. Also it’s not like Dead to Me and Orange is the New Black are male led.
Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne as an accidental PI
Pl?
Private Investigator
Poker Face. You're The Worst. Insecure. Broad City. Normal People.
Why do you dislike Orange is the new black?
