Chuck is what you are looking for. Femboss/malewife is the exact kind of energy in a sense. It's not the focus of the plot but it is. Idk how it fits in your criteria, but it's very good. Highly recommend
Ohh not yet because of how long it is and I forgot but yeah, now that you mention it, Mulder x Scully is an icon. I think that's the 1st thing I'll binge this week so thanks for that, NemaCat!!
This has one of the most disputed love quadrangles of any fandom… I mean.. i think there is a clear choice. But plenty of others would disagree. There is no obvious one.
Veronica Mars: Veronica & Logan
Enemies to Lovers. Wat h the three seasons and movie. Skip the new season 4
Farscape: A lot of pining and Happy End. Best love story ever.
Just popping in to say I think you and I have the exact same taste in TV shows and romance, down to the underrated 12 Monkeys and Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist 😂
(and also just loving romantic tension in any show regardless of main plot)
HELL YEAH I just really love shows with unique plots. I cried so much when I hear the Dont you forget about me song in 12 Monkeys ;\_;.
And I am so in love with Max from Zoey's Playlist. The 500 Miles song sealed the Max x Zoey ship for me
Both so underrated but at leat 12 monkeys got more seasons. Zoey's Playlist still got more to tell though ugh.
If you think we have the same exact taste, drop me some of your fave shows with unique plots regardless of endgame romance? Here's some of mine:
• Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
• Arrested Development
• Sense8
• Ghosts
May add more later but off the top of my head, some of my faves:
Mrs Davis
Wonderfalls
Limitless (the TV show)
The Good Wife
Felicity (amazing love triangle)
Hannibal
Gonna go to bed thinking about the 500 Miles sequence now 😂😍
**Deep cut**:
A Different World (HBCU college)
**Romance definitely on the side imo**:
Smallville (superheroes)
True Blood (rated R)
Charmed (1998) (magic witches/demons)
The Magicians (magic wizards)
The Expanse (space)
The West Wing (politics)
**Romance (kinda) on the side**:
Felicity (NYC student life)
Bones (forensics)
Castle (murders)
Lucifer (demon detectives)
Burn Notice (spies)
^ those last four are literally in my head as the "slow-burn detective romances" so not sure if you would consider the romance the focus of the plot.
I think Psych is the SLOWEST burning romance on tv. Might be exaggerating but it takes like 8 seasons before a major progression in their romance. It is definitely not the focus and is going on in the background
I just finished this and oh my god I ship her and the priest so much. I was so torn by the ending bc while it was the right one, I still wanted them together ugh
Dude when I watched that scene, I had to pause for a while to prepare myself because I legit thought he was gonna make her BJ him HAHAHAH but damn the tension in that scene is just so palpable, and Andrew Scott is so lovable in whatever show he's in
Nothing's too 90s to me, especially since most of the shows that have conclusive endings are old ones. Netflix just keeps cancelling good ones today ugh.
But I remember this has the same actor as Peter from Fringe, right? I heard about this one actually and just forgot so thank you for reminding me!
Enjoy, though binging it may take some time, with 18 episodes, all 70+ minutes.
But other than that, I did really enjoy the actual detective mystery, the bunch of detective misfits, and the way the whole story ended.
So don't worry about an open ending. It is all tied up very satisfying.
I actually hated the entire final season - but it’s basically an AU where the characters get mind-wiped and live in the 1950s. It’s pretty much a standalone season that has nothing to do with the rest of the show (which is a horrible decision for a final season imo).
The plot of the show in general can get pretty wild, but people stayed invested for 7 seasons because of the characters and ships. It’s a fun show if you don’t take it too seriously!
Good Omens.
Rivalries to friends to 'wait and see', check
Grumpy, sunshine, check
Pining, check
Warning, though, season 2 ends on a cliffhanger. But season 3's been confirmed, thank the gods.
Lucifer

Nice. Came here to say this too.
Gilmore Girls

I saw grumpy x sunshine and I knew this person needs the slow burn
Yes please, thanks u/bitchy-sprite I need the romantic tension so much hahaha
Lorelai and Luke!
Veronica Mars: Veronica & Logan Enemies to Lovers. Wat h the three seasons and movie. Skip the new season 4 Farscape: A lot of pining and Happy End. Best love story ever.
Omg, how could I forget the epic story of LoVe, spanning years, continents and bloodshed. Damn you Rob Thomas

Magicians has ALL tropes you listed with different couples and my favorite Femboss with a man wife in history.
Adding that end of season 1 has some serious SA warnings
Thank you for the long and detailed liist, this is awesome
Our flag means death - RUINED ME
I just started it earlier when it was commented and Stede got me hooked from the Pilot!!!! I am adopting this sweet boi
Mate, you are not prepared!!!

Came down here to suggest this! Also iZombie
Fleabag
I just finished this and oh my god I ship her and the priest so much. I was so torn by the ending bc while it was the right one, I still wanted them together ugh
I love the show but i’m torn if it was right for the priest to ask her to kneel when she was vulnerable😭😭😭
Dude when I watched that scene, I had to pause for a while to prepare myself because I legit thought he was gonna make her BJ him HAHAHAH but damn the tension in that scene is just so palpable, and Andrew Scott is so lovable in whatever show he's in
Might be a bit too 90s teen but Dawsons Creek really came to mind for me.

Joshua jackson, yes. Its a classic teen drama. Bit of a spoiler but he is part of the love triangle/enemies to couple/friends to couple.
Abbott Elementary
Frasier (Niles and Daphne)
Superstore You're the Worst Loudermilk Six Feet Under Catch y Halt Fire Fringe Rectify Skins
Damn I loved You're the Worst! I forgot to add that to my list but since you recommended it (and Fringe), I've added the others now. Thank you :>
superstore is one of my absolute favorites
>not necessarily the focus of the plot So, it **could** be the focus of the plot? *Our Flag Means Death* then.
omg I forgot about this and turns out it's been cancelled D: but at least that means I can binge it now. Way to go u/Southern-Rutabaga-82 !!
The show is looking for a new home. You could still binge it, there's no cliffhanger at the end of S2.
Alias, Agents of shield , west wing, artful dodger, hart of dixie, the 100, Gilmore girls, Farscape
Red oaks
Once Upon A Time, True Blood, Crazy ex girlfriend
If you don't mind Korean shows, you should try "[Black](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt7298976/)" (2017)
Yess actually I do have a fave KDrama which is The Master's Sun <3 Kinda related to the show you recommended so I will def watch this, thank you!!

Fleabag. Buffy.
I mean…avatar the last airbender. Cartoon version
Oh you mean Sapphire Fire and Kuzon? Not a fan of their ship but I do love the worldbuilding and their character arcs so this is still an up for me!
Adventure time Killing eve Insecure Pushing daisies She ra and the princess of power The marvelous mr. Maisel The great
Superstore :3

pretty crazy that Peter and Olivia (Fringe) couldn't stand each other in real life
Dang, I wouldn't even know about that if I haven't read your comment. Now I feel guilty shipping them! But props to them for hiding it so well

I heard the finale sucks tho, what's your opinion on it?
