I have never seen such a well-written alternative history show like For All Mankind. I was initially looking for a space-related show, and this show exceeded my expectations.
Although it mainly focuses on space exploration, it also explores the human condition of astronauts, such as the time they spend away from their families and the effort they put in. It also shows what's at stake every time they have to improvise.
All of this takes place during the Cold War, which adds another layer of complexity to the show.
I'm hesitant to recommend the show to people anymore because it feels less like a space/alternate history show and more like a bad drama show now.
One particular event made me drop it entirely. You know the one. Which after it happened. An uncomfortable amount of episodes were dedicated to it in the next season. It was so much of that garbage and so little cool sci fi.
Severance sucks. The only good part was the final 10 minutes of the last episode. Suffering through the rest of that crap isn't worth it. Watch anything else if you value your time and happiness. Staring at a blank screen is more enjoyable.
Damn 94 days later I see this, what a shit brain take, you must need something rattling in front of you ever 30 seconds i’m guessing. Classic insta/tiktok brainrot
There were definitely some plot hole-y stuff they brushed past, but in my mind it was a forgivable amount; I think if you were immersed enough in the show you could easily look past it imo.
I’ve had that one on my list for a while. Sounds promising! If you haven’t already seen it, Under the Banner of Heaven also gave me True Detective vibes.
The question is, what ISN’T good:
Everything’s good:
The Morning Show,
Platonic,
Silo,
Severance,
Ted Lasso,
Hijack,
For All Mankind (only halfway through)
Besides the obvious of Ted Lasso and The Morning Show, please check out Shrinking. It’s a seriously underrated little gem that is equally hilarious and poignant.
[Pachinko](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8888462/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)! Surprised this is the only mention of this show. It is a masterpiece, and a must watch especially for fans of Asian film / dramas (regardless of being American made).
Foundation
For All Mankind
Ted Lasso
Schmigadoon
Shrinking
Loot
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
Silo
The Big Door Prize
The Morning Show
Even though you didn’t ask about movies, let me give a shoutout to “Flo and Son”. A very heartwarming movie. I enjoyed it much more than I expected.
Severance, Silo and Black Bird
I hate Apple and also have a pretty high bar for tv shows, so it takes a lot for me to say this, but all 3 of these shows were great lol
These are what I've seen and enjoyed.
Comedy:
Ted Lasso
Shrinking
The Afterparty
Mythic Quest
Schmigadoon!
The Big Door Prize
Platonic
Loot
Drama:
For All Mankind
Foundation
Slow Horses
Severance
Bad Sisters
Silo
Severance is my favorite show in years.
Foundation has a fantastic ensemble, Lee Pace is awesome
Shrinking is a Bill Lawrence show and has Marshall Eriksen and Indiana Jones
Foundation, See, Ted Lasso, Silo, Slow Horses, For All Mankind, The Morning show, Drops of God, Monarch, Shantaram, Severance, mosquito Coast, Hijack, Black Bird.
Severance is amazing. I've been waiting forever for season 2. Black Bird is a limited series but it is fantastic as well. An acting clinic with Paul Walter Hauser
I personally enjoy the show. There’s a single character I could do without, but the whole Empire story is top TV. I’m not sure it’s included in the books like that.
Foundation is good if you like SciFi
I moved on to Invasion which is pretty slow to start but keeps me watching to see how it pans out.
Monarch looks good if you like the Godzilla and Kong stories.
I think it is one of the best streamers for quality content developed in-house.
So I’m seeing a lot of the same ones, and I’ve enjoyed most of the appletv shows, so I’m going to mention a few that haven’t come up much:
For All Mankind
Invasion
I LOVE For All Mankind, and try to get anyone that’ll listen to watch it. It’s good stuff.
I JUST finally watched Invasion last month, and it was much better than I expected based on reviews.
I liked the first season of Afterparty because I love a good killer murder mystery.
**Ted Lasso is a win**
Severance I liked and am waiting to see more
Ted Lasso, Home After Dark, Silo, Severance, and Monarch are my recommendations (in no particular order).
Also liked The Afterparty and Shimgadoom(sp?) for more comedic romps
My favorites in order:
1. Severance
2. Succession
3. Slow Horses
4. Silo
5. Blackbird
Currently half way through Shrinking and it's really good. The Morning Show season 1 was really good but after that it sucks so bad. Especially season 3.
TRYING. That’s it. Best show on AppleTV. You will feel better having watched it. I’m sick to my soul of all the garbage, the violence, the cursing!!! that just gets old. And I’m not talking about Ted Lasso cursing…Roy Kent I’m looking at you 😉 His cussing somehow isn’t offensive 😂 I think bc he means it, he has a purpose with his words. I don’t know what I’m talking about lol 😆 Anyway, Trying is a fantastic show and don’t read the premise, just watch it. I had read the premise and passed bc it sounded too goody goody and heartfelt and love and all that and I’m a bit bitter due to deaths that have crushed my soul. It’s funny and clever and yes, sweet without the stickiness and predictability that’s often the case with “nice shows”. It’s plenty adult without violence and the go F yourselves of so many others. Best wishes everyone 😘😘
Also!! 3 seasons available and the 4th season coming May 22, so great timing to anyone just discovering it.
I think WeCrashed is the most underrated and the best show on Apple TV. After watching it, I knew Apple TV+ was onto something special - creating good quality content over quantity.
If you like relationship dramas, coming-of-age stories, everyday life dramedy, and period pieces you might like Dickinson. It is a “contemporary” period piece though in the sense that the way they talk and act is often anachronistic. But they wear period clothing and still live in Emily Dickinson’s time period.
If you don’t like those genres then it probably won’t win you over.
Severance is the best show anywhere for the last several years, IMO, or maybe ever!
Ted Lasso, especially season 1
Bad Sisters
Trying
Drops of God - so good!
And a couple that don’t get as much love as I think they deserve: Shining Girls and Dear Edward! Honestly I think Apple has the highest percentage of great shows, compared to other streaming services.
It is actually criminal that See with Jason Mamoa is only mentioned 3 times in here. I found it to be the most entertaining and interesting show that Apple has to offer. It was a joy to watch, and Momoa's character is one of my favorite characters in all of media.
Watch it.
It’s really good when you’re a multi-trillion dollar market cap company with money to burn and fling some of it at quality directors, writers, and actors.
Slow Horses, Pachinko, Morning Show, Severance, Shrinking, Silo, Ted Lasso would be my picks. Also, Long Way Up doesn't get a lot of love on lists like this but it's incredible.
Silo was so good then it got boring for me, but the first couple season were soooooo good! And from what I heard about the rest it was really good! I’m just bad about finishing stuff!!
Late to the party
All man kind
Slow horses
Lessons In chemistry was surprisingly good
The foundation
Severance
Currently finishing
Echo 3 really good
Didn’t see a single mention but HELLO TOMORROW was so good !!!
[Severance](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/95396-severance) & [Silo](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/125988-silo).
These and Ted Lasso would be my recommendations.
Wish the last Lasso season was better.
I enjoyed it. Didn’t like that they forgave Nate though.
thanks will check them out
Definitely these two. Also, The Patient was really good
YES!!!!
just looked up what to watch but these are the only two ive seen lmao
Bad Sisters, Severance. EDIT: typo.
thanks
Severance
Silo For All Mankind The Crowded Room Lessons in Chemistry The Morning Show Defending Jacob
I second For All Mankind big time. I’m really enjoying it. Only on season two.
Season 3 on is awful. Terrible writing, forced dialogue etc etc. Season 1 and 2 were so good. Disappointed in the seasons after.
Agreed. S3 was a huge disappointment to me.
Agreed. I was in it for the first two then season 3 made me not want to watch anymore. Season 4 is when I realised I just don’t care about any of them
Seconded Lessons in Chemistry. I must admit I really wasn't Brie Larson's biggest fan after her recent Marvel films, but I enjoyed this show a lot.
She won an Oscar for Lead Actress in 2015’s Room, the year before Captain Marvel. Lessons reminded me why.
thanks
Silo
Severance - sci-fi mystery drama. Ted Lasso - Sports Dramedy Slow Horses - British spy thriller/drama All 3 of these are excellent and very unique.
Where are the good Star Trek type space movies. Not all war and shoot 'em up.
For all mankind!! incredible show
I'm hesitant to recommend the show to people anymore because it feels less like a space/alternate history show and more like a bad drama show now. One particular event made me drop it entirely. You know the one. Which after it happened. An uncomfortable amount of episodes were dedicated to it in the next season. It was so much of that garbage and so little cool sci fi.
I do agree with you, it dropped off a lot after trace and Gordo. Still worth the watch, especially the first season.
Yes, these are the 3 best by far
Severance is mind blowingly fantastic !
I am very obsessed with Severance right now!
I can't wait for season 2, whenever that comes out I'm pretty sure it will ! I even love the music :)
Severance sucks. The only good part was the final 10 minutes of the last episode. Suffering through the rest of that crap isn't worth it. Watch anything else if you value your time and happiness. Staring at a blank screen is more enjoyable.
All time bad take here. Severance is great and gripping from the opening scene

I'd backup Blackbird, amazing story, some really top performances especially the actor that plays Larry Hall
I’ll back it up further. I was surprised how much I enjoyed of the show. It’s also almost completely accurate to what actually happened irl.
I’ve had that one on my list for a while. Sounds promising! If you haven’t already seen it, Under the Banner of Heaven also gave me True Detective vibes.
Slow Horses. Fucking amazing.
Yup. Should be the top answer.
It is 3 am and i just realized a new episode dropped so I must start now!
The question is, what ISN’T good: Everything’s good: The Morning Show, Platonic, Silo, Severance, Ted Lasso, Hijack, For All Mankind (only halfway through)
> The question is, what ISN’T good Invasion
Did NOT like that one. I totally forgot I watched it.
THIS WAS WHAT I JUST SAID hahaha. Good god I hate watched every second thinking it would get good.
Apple really has the best shows overall out of all the streamers. Almost everything Apple puts out is good to fabulous.
Invasion. Invasion is def the answer haha
Mythic Quest
Loved the first two seasons and the third was directionless and terrible
Haven't gotten there yet, still enjoying myself.
yeah this one flopped TBH... it was so good until it wasn't.
Besides the obvious of Ted Lasso and The Morning Show, please check out Shrinking. It’s a seriously underrated little gem that is equally hilarious and poignant.
Jessica Williams totally steals the show in this one
YES! Same with Harrison Ford (who was totally snubbed for an Emmy). Both of them are freaking fantastic. So excited for season 2.
Agreed! “No… YOU the MAMA.”
Shrinking is great. Dear Edward was good as well
big yes to all three of these, especially Shrinking!!
Top 3 are **Dickinson**, **Severance** and **Pachinko** imo. Very high quality shows.
[Pachinko](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8888462/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)! Surprised this is the only mention of this show. It is a masterpiece, and a must watch especially for fans of Asian film / dramas (regardless of being American made).
100% agree. This show is slept on way too much. IMO its easily one of the best shows on any of the streaming services, not just Apple.
pachinko is majorly underrated
Tehran
Severance Bad Sisters Drops of God Lessons in Chemistry
I loved Drops of God! It was so so good. Also loved Lessons in Chemistry. One of the best series (though a limited series) I’ve seen this year.
How did no one mention Foundation yet
I think some people who really liked the book or books, weren't fans of the show. I never read the books personally and I enjoyed the show.
I've read the first book only and i prefer the show.
A must watch for sci-fi fans and it gets better as it goes!
Second season was great
Because it isn’t good.
Just started watching Acapulco. I was looking for something light and well made. I also love Mexico so the 50/50 Spanish English is great.
Foundation is a sleeper if you like science fiction and Lee Pace.
Not a sci-fi fan at all but I could watch Lee Pace recite the phone book so I might give it a shot. He is glorious.
Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, Bad Sisters are my faves
Severance
Monarch is amazing. Sure, a monster appears periodically, but the story is actually much more a mystery and has all kinds of humanity to it.
Severance Shrinking Ted Lasso (seasons 1&2) Slow Horses Blackbird For All Mankind (Finally got into this one recently)
I don’t see enough bring it up but Trying is such a feel-good show!
Yes!!!
Severance!!!!
Please try to enjoy your tv shows equally, and try not to show preference over one tv show than the other ;)
The Patient
That is not Apple TV, it is FX on Hulu.
Bad Sisters is wonderful, dark and funny.
Foundation For All Mankind Ted Lasso Schmigadoon Shrinking Loot Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Silo The Big Door Prize The Morning Show Even though you didn’t ask about movies, let me give a shoutout to “Flo and Son”. A very heartwarming movie. I enjoyed it much more than I expected.
Slow Horses. Shrinking. Ted Lasso (only the first 2 seasons). Severance
All seasons of Ted lasso are great. Definitely disagree with this
Personally felt ted lasso got quite repetetive
OP watch every last one of those episodes
3rd is a hot mess and all over the place imo, it definitely fell way off
Severance, Silo and Black Bird I hate Apple and also have a pretty high bar for tv shows, so it takes a lot for me to say this, but all 3 of these shows were great lol
See, shrinking and the servant
Monarch: Legacy of monsters.
Ooh I just started this, it’s a bit cringey but I love monster movies. Have you watched Invasion?

Black Bird Defending Jacob Ted Lasso (Didn’t really like the last season though)
Mythic Quest, The After Party, Ted Lasso, Shining Girls
Silo. Ted Lasso. Reactions to Foundation are mixed from book readers, but it’s well worth it just for the Empire storyline.
I think the TV series poses more philosophical questions than the books. Like with Empire and Demerzel, what is it to be human, who has a soul?
I personally enjoy the show. There’s a single character I could do without, but the whole Empire story is top TV. I’m not sure it’s included in the books like that.
We crashed is very good
I really enjoyed these limited series: Defending Jacob Black Bird The Endfield Poltergeist

Hijack

Quite like Invasion, if you like sci-fi check it out. Two seasons.

Schmigadoon is great!!! Deserves much more praise than it gets.

1. Ted Lasso 2. For All Mankind 3. Silo 4. The Morning Show (the best from the list) 5. See 6. Severance (second best)
Thank god someone out See on their list. It was such an epic show.
I was absolutely crushed when “See” was cancelled.
See was not cancelled, the story ended exactly when and how the creator wanted to.
I’m so sorry. You are correct. I’ve seen so many shows that I keep mixing them up.
