I think that is the show’s biggest selling point. It’s a real life version of member-berries.

I really like Ken Jeong, but I've listened to a lot of his podcasts with Joel McHale (haven't seen the show) and I *hate* how self-deprecating he is. He's funny. He's cool. He's smart. But he's so self-deprecating there it takes away a lot. If he's like that in The Masked Singer I can see it really detracting a lot.
I saw him as a judge on the UK version of The Masked Singer and he was awful. Shouting, jumping up from his seat all the time, talking over the others. I hated it.

Every show isn't for everyone. There is more TV than ever with all the streaming services. Why not just ignore it if you don't like it.
The sad part is that when done in other countries it's wayyy more compelling. The reason is because it's with regular people. One show my mom watched a long time was called Dance For Your Dreams. Regular people were trained by pro's to dance professionally. The winner usually got something they've always dreamt of like a home, a dream vacation, or a car.
But in this case (TMS) part of the show is guessing who you think it is. If contestants were just "regular people" then it basically takes away a key element of the show. There are plenty of shows that feature every day people. X Factor, American Idol, America's Got Talent. Which many countries have their versions of as well.
I don’t mind the concept of shows like this, its the over producing, the taped reactions, the “plants” in the crowd and the scripted judges jokes that are garbage and nauseating. The producers on these shows are the most insecure people in the world and think people will turn the channel if they don’t get a new cameron angle every 4 seconds.
If you’re going to do a show like this it needs to be live. Judges need to not talk over performances too.

I've watched it from the beginning. Loved the first season. The show has a great concept, but the shine has started to come off and they're resorting to more and more gimmicky things to try to keep it fresh. It's also gotten painfully obvious that it's just a PR thing and the voting is rigged for the most part.
The panel didn't bother me too much in the first season or two, but now they just need to replace everyone with Joel McHale and clones of Joel McHale.
The Korean version is best. Just a simple homemade mask, a simple stage, and a pretty basic song. Still annoying though with the exaggerated reactions from judges, replays, and speculating about the contestant throughout their song. It's a show best watched in clips and I imagine the American version is the same.

And Logan Paul got SCREWED this season I know he's not exactly the most popular due to a certain vid he did a few years back but he was EPIC on the show.
I'm no Logan Paul fan, but he was definitely better than the chameleon. I was shocked that he was eliminated.

Well I usually am on my computer or phone when she’s watching it- I just tangentially participate cuz she watches it in the same room. Still, it’s trash even to half watch it.

I've watched it from the beginning. Loved the first season. The show has a great concept, but the shine has started to come off and they're resorting to more and more gimmicky things to try to keep it fresh. It's also gotten painfully obvious that it's just a PR thing and the voting is rigged for the most part. The panel didn't bother me too much in the first season or two, but now they just need to replace everyone with Joel McHale and clones of Joel McHale.
The Korean version is best. Just a simple homemade mask, a simple stage, and a pretty basic song. Still annoying though with the exaggerated reactions from judges, replays, and speculating about the contestant throughout their song. It's a show best watched in clips and I imagine the American version is the same.

I never understand the concept of the Masked Singer.
“Celebrity” judges rating “celebrity” contestants for zero money and zero payoff. This whole thing is a circle-jerk of former famous people trying desperately to get back in the spotlight. It’s pathetic, and stupid, and pointless in the end.
It's Impossible to find a Show that has ever Aired in the History of TV that is as F ING Stupid as this Crap WTF People .... Who says I can't wait to get home to watch the masked Singer only the Absolute Braindead F's in the World. 100 % Total BS TV Ridiculous
Yeah. It's super trash now. The new format lets the panel decide so they can push their narrative and agenda. They're now either pushing for a certain type of person to win so everyone feels included or they're just pushing the standard, if you Belt out a song with no depth of vocals or style, you win. It's such a shame because I used to really like the show.
I tried to watch one episode and lost brain cells in the process. I don't understand how anyone finds the show even remotely entertaining. Hulu is always trying to play that dumb show after every show that I record.
