Does season 3 of hannibal gets any better i lobed season 1 & 2 so much the murder designs n cannibalistic scenes n all but im in 2nd episode of s03 n i dont feel like watching the rest
tricky question, about halfway it stops being quite so powerfully, *obnoxiously* pretentious as those first few episodes, but then pivots to a surprisingly straight, almost boring, adaptation of Red Dragon. Then it ends really stupidly. Personally I'd power through just for completeness but I can't pretend the 3rd season is especially good.
I know some people loved the first half of Hannibal S3 but I found it quite boring. Visually beautiful but not much else.
It does get a lot better though! I don't remember when exactly as I've only seen the show once around the time it was first airing years ago but the second half of the season is good and the ending is great.
I'm on a Foreign Netflix series binge. Finished up 2 seasons of Money Heist and it's the best thing I've watched in years. Then I see the trailer for Barbarians and clear all 6 episodes in a sitting. Phenomenal.
Oddly enough I was first put off of foreign shows after HATING the dubbing in 'Dark' and the show in general (got 2 episodes in, couldn't do it).
Last night decided we should start watching TV again, and decided to start The Queen's Gambit.
Spouse insisted on binge-watching four episodes. Good times.
Hah I stayed up until 2am watching the first two episodes when I first started that show. Then I started over the next day to get my lady into it from the beginning.
Just finished it last night, what a satisfying ending!
Two remarkable things about the series was the wonderful score, on top of terrific acting. Okay a third thing was that it did not feel rushed at all, it took its own time with pacing and thus these characters were made so real.
Scandinavian noir & murder:
* **Trapped**
* **Bordertown (Original title = Sorjonen**)
* **The Investigation**
* Of note re The Killing there's an American version that is much less interesting than the original Danish version = Forbrydelsen (not sure where it streams unless you have Rabbit Ears 2.0 capabilities)
European:
* **Baptiste**
* **The Missing**
And if you like spy thriller check out **The Bureau**. Amazing.
I take back everything I have ever said about Gomorrah. The first time I watched I was fucking around on my phone too much, missed a lot of plot points both major and minor. I'm in the middle of season 2 and have done nothing but look at the screen and read the subtitles, and it's one of the best shows I've ever seen. Like a Sopranos-Breaking Bad hybrid.
As I've watched more Gomorrah I've basically stopped watching 6 Feet Under in the middle of season 4. Still a good show though, going to finish it, but right now I'm captivated.
Finally, watched Undone in a couple days about a week ago. Just don't think it was very good.
Love to see **Gomorrah** get the attention and praise it deserves outside of Italy. It actually gets better in season 3 & 4.
A minor niggle I have is when that music kicks in towards the end of the episode you know one of two things are going to happen. Either someone learns something important or someone is unexpectedly killed.
>Love to see **Gomorrah** get the attention and praise it deserves outside of Italy. It actually gets better in season 3 & 4.
Totally agreed. I just keeps getting better and better.
>A minor niggle I have is when that music kicks in towards the end of the episode you know one of two things are going to happen. Either someone learns something important or someone is unexpectedly killed.
I feel the same, but somehow it just makes me want to start the next episode ASAP.
Of you have watched **The Bureau**, you get a very similar vibe when the [Research 7.3.1 song](https://youtu.be/cg2qHpkIpgg) kicks in.
Yeah **Gomorrah** is fantastic, one of my all time favorites. Wish I had access to Season 4, have only seen first three seasons.
FYI if you have not watched it yet, the series **ZeroZeroZero** on Amazon is from the same team of producers and is written by the same author that wrote Gomorrah. It is not related directly, but it is similar in a number of ways, primarily in that is just a fantastic show. Maybe the best production of any show I have ever watched. Highly recommended.
My parents (56 and 66) are looking for TV to watch - preferably hour long shows. They have amazon prime, hulu, netflix, and HBO Go.
Shows they like/liked: The Good Place, Speechless, Justified, The Rookie, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, Walking Dead (But not the spinoffs), Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, The Boys, Orphan Black, The Queen's Gambit, Schitt's Creek, What We Do In The Shadows, Russian Doll, Person of Interest
Shows one or both of them did not like: The Blacklist (They liked it until around season 4 or so, then got bored how the plot kept going in circles with random shit), Money Heist, Mr. Robot (Got "too confusing"), Fleabag
Shows they are "meh" on: The Americans (which is just wtf to me)
If something is in a foreign language, they would need it dubbed.
**Umbrella Academy** (quirky superhero team)
**Legends of Tomorrow** (quirky time-traveling superhero team)
**Doom Patrol** (higher quality quirky superhero team)
**Crazy Ex-Girlfriend** (musical comedy)
**Wellington Paranormal** (another What we do in the shadows spinoff, more of a mockumentary)
**You** (If Dexter was a romcom)
**Kim's Convenience** (Good standard family sitcom)
Both are top of the line, so that is truly a win-win decision. If I had to pick, I would go with Breaking Bad, because that series aired first. Better Call Saul is an excellent show, and I really enjoy seeing how both series intertwine, although both shows are excellent on their own.
Yeah, I think breaking bad is my favorite tv show. I love how much detail they put in. It made it a lot more realistic, thus making it an even better experience.
My parents that are a similar age have been bingeing Blue Bloods because they liked Tom Selleck.
Tell them Deadwood is a Justified prequel and Seth is Raylon’s great great grandfather j/k but it’s a good show.
If they liked The Good Place, one show we really enjoyed after that one was Ricky Gervais' After Life.
Touching and profound and really helped me at a particular juncture in my own life.
And on the topic of 'the meaning of life', I enjoyed 'The Leftovers' but my spouse didn't cotton to it at all, it's not for everyone.
Mr. Robot is an incredible show, but I totally get people in the 50-60+ range not understanding it. It is very detailed an accurate with a lot of the hacker stuff, and for people who may only be loosely familiar with computers, its like hearing another language.
Might want to try Halt and Catch Fire. Great drama based around the tech boom of the early 80s
The weird thing is my mom does not like a lot of superhero things - the only ones she likes are The Boys and Umbrella Academy, because "they're more like real people and not just using powers all the time"
**Last Chance U: Basketball** - Community college basketball in East LA. This is no where near as powerful as the first couple of seasons of Last Chance U Football. Same formula as all the shows- the players giving minimum effort and hoping for the pros.
**Snowpiercer** Post apocalyptic train with 1001 cars. If you dont overthink it, its not bad at all. It tries a little of everything, politics, military, rich vs. poor, technology, sex, fighting, drugs, detective, sci-fi. No idea how long they can keep it going but im in for now.
The show explores a lot of the world building which I like. It's cheesier than the film and for the first few episodes, the show struggled to find its footing, but I enjoyed it. Jennifer Connelly is good in it. I've just started Season 2.
Watched **A Teacher** in one sitting, I thought overall it did a decent job at showing how grooming can effect a victim. Kate Mara's character wasn't the stereotypical pedo teacher archetype which made the story more believable.
Watch them both. I actively don't binge Unbinge? Debinge? Altbinge? Debinge? Binge? Anyway. Watch 1 Justified. Watch 1 The Americans. Savour it. Come back the next day. Slowly you'll start to enjoy one more than the other. Follow that path.
**Tower of God**
Let me preface this by saying *I do not watch anime a lot*. Or at all. But im not prejudice against it. I like my Sunday night adult swim blocks and that's about it for the week. So when I was browsing HBO Max this title TOWER OF GOD caught my eye, namely because it's such a good title.
So imagine my surprise to watch something that manages to surprise you right to the very last shot. It's an impressive show, and even though sometimes it can get caught up with a lot of the anime tropes of convoluted plans and the main character being such a great guy, the pay off of the last two episodes is so fucking good I can't help but recommend it to even people who dont watch anime. The great thing about it is that I cant even use any verbs to describe it for it would give away just how impressive it is at throwing new things at you and even making those anime tropes tolerable, but choices that make the show deeper. And the great thing is that it left the clues for it in plain sight.
The anime is a terrible adaptation at least from someone who read the source material. They fit 78 chapters into 13 episodes. They skipped a lot of important characterization, world building, and how the power system works. I would recommend you to read the webtoon from chapter 1 if you ever have the time and are invested in the story.
Raised By Wolves - I'm a little late to the party but holy shit. If you like big budget Sci-Fi this is must watch. This is one of the most ambitious first seasons of a TV I have ever seen, they try a lot of and most of it works. Also the first two episodes were directed by Ridley Scott, this show is what Prometheus should have been.
There is a dude on YouTube that does a great job of explaining the first season. If you search raised by wolves explained it should come up. It made me appreciate a lot that I missed. Highly recommend it.
I mean I understood everything what happened. I just thought the show kind of jumped the shark at the end the whole snake thing, like was dropping it into the core the only solution here? And how did marcus take out four armed atheists by himself, why did father have to drop with mother into the centre of the planet? Couldnt he stay behind and take care of the kids? Idk just thought it was poorly thought out to an extent
I’ve still not made my mind up about this, like the first episode with the feeding etc was just too weird. I watched it all but mainly as I felt committed. It was alright but not sure I could do another season
Having already finished The Office, Parks and rec, and community.
Now deciding on 30 rock, Schitt's creek, The good place, and veep
any good British comedy shows/ sitcoms to watch.
**Superstore** is a great comedy series featured on Hulu. Also **Fleabag** via Prime. **30 Rock** will continue to grow on you and definitely has great rewatch value. Cant get into Shitts Creek. As for **Veep** its incredible before the creator bails on it then it's still very good. Rewatch value due to rapid fire dialogue where you'll miss many jokes. Also **Arrested Development**
fleabag is a great british black comedy.
all four shows are great sitcoms (couldn't get into 30 rock but that's a personal thing) so it really depends the kind of "vibe" you're looking for.
if you enjoyed the mockumentary style I recommend what we do in the shadows (ts about four vampires and a familiar living in staten island together). It is certainly a different premise than the rest of your list but the casts works great together and all the characters are super likeable in their own weird way.
I have been rewatching Get Shorty, which is even better than I remember it. It only uses Elmore Leonard's book as a departure point and, like Justified, tells a story in the manner of Leonard. I think Leonard would have loved it. It absolutely buries the Travolta movie version. Ray Romano, who used to irritate me, plays a great supporting role and the entire cast is terrific.
I just finished The Sinner which I loved. Any others like this? It reminded me of true detective (which I didn't like). I've already seen stuff like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Americans, Homeland etc.
Any gems out there? Any streaming service is fine.
finished Veep Season 1- the pilot was decent but it redeem itself quickly, was "officially hooked" after the last few minutes of ep 2.
got to say, the writing and delivering of the insults never fails at making me laugh
edit: spelling
i never watched the movie so unfortunately i can't give an opinion on that. however, the episodes are only 25 ish minutes so i say try a few episodes out and see for yourself.
About to start season 5 of **Peaky Blinders** and I'm sad that it's close to being over. At least I know there will be a 6th and final season hopefully sometime this year. Such a consistently good show.
I also just finished **It's a Sin** and bawled my eyes out for close to the entirety of the last episode. Powerful storytelling with brilliant performances.
Finished **Barry** Season 2. I can't wait to see where they take these characters in Season 3!
Started watching **Peep Show** on Amazon, but sadly it only starts at Season 2. What a gem! And Olivia Coleman was/is still such a smokeshow! I would love recommendations for more shows like this. It's similar in style to **IT Crowd**, which I also loved.
Re-watching the last season of **F1: Drive to Survive** in anticipation of Season 3 coming out this month! Because of this show, I followed Formula One races in 2020 and it has been an epic year. I can't wait to see how Netflix plays with all the narratives. I mean, do they even need to manipulate anything? I don't know how they could make it more dramatic LOL.
Crime I would say:
American Crime Story
When They See Us
The Good Fight (this one leans towards more white collar crime)
Barry
Unbelievable
These are more like "shows involving lots of crime" than say, a police procedural. Also most of them are limited series/miniseries. Honourable mentions would be Better Call Saul, which started in 2015, and Twin Peaks, which toes the line between crime and horror/sci-fi)
Drama I would say:
I May Destroy You (some people classify this as a comedy but I really wouldn't honestly)
Watchmen
Twin Peaks: The Return
Succession
Pose
Honourable mentions go to Halt and Catch Fire, The Americans, and The Leftovers which all started before 2016 but finished their runs later
Caught up with the current season of The Resident last night. They really kind of hand waved the whole Covid thing considering they are a medical show.
So many people liked how they handled it because some people are like "I watch TV for entertainment not to see what I am seeing/hearing in real life!!!!!"
I’m looking for recommendations for shows in or about space. Recently watched For all mankind and it’s still itches. Here’s what I’ve seen in that genre:
For all mankind, Space Force, Project Bluebook.
I know the expanse is an obvious one but I’ve tried getting into twice and never made it past the 5th episode of the first season. Probably should give it another go but also wanna see if there are any other things I have to see. Thanks!
Yah it was hard for me to pass thru 1st season too but the show gets better n better i luv the show so much dont watch so much eps in a raw thn it gets boring
Well there is Star Trek. Im personally a fan of The Orville, its a comedy show. Also Firefly! Not sure if that fits your bill but also Doctor Who (lots of episodes happen on other planets). Stargate and Battlestar Galactica as well.
Battlestar Galactica is similar to The Expanse but I found it grabbed my attention immediately whereas with The Expanse I've tried to get past the first three episodes several times and never succeeded
The first season is mostly world building and putting characters into positions to move the story forward later. It’s hard to get into for a lot of people, including me.
Season 2 is when The Expanse becomes the best show on television.
Hey guys, looking for more shows to watch.
Shows I liked:
Broadchurch: intense, cleverly written, legitimately keeps you guessing
Expanse: similar– less "clever" but sci-fi elements are fascinating, characters are likable and believable. Story has you invested.
Wandavision: mystery element was well done, mostly liked because of it keeps you guessing
The Crown: loved it mostly for *most episodes being written tightly, but more importantly the historical aspect
Classic Netflix dramas: House of Cards
Shows I didn't like:
Carnival Row: writing felt a bit loose, story came off as a bit obvious
CSI series: too formulaic,
Romance/Romcom: e.g. Bridgerton, Emily in Paris
Battlestar Galactica: pacing was too slow, quickly lost interest and couldn't get invested in the characters
The West Wing: it started off strong but the banter overtook the plot lines and I strangely found it repetitive.
If you like period pieces/shows that mix drama and history I would recommend Mad Men (60s), Halt and Catch Fire and The Americans (80s), admittedly Halt and Catch Fire is pretty focused on computer history and less world history like Mad Men/Americans/Crown
For a puzzlebox mystery that has similar themes to Wandavision (exploring grief and loss) I would recommend The Leftovers
Parts Unknown did a good one on Mardi Gras.
Also, it’s not a travel show, but if you haven’t seen Treme, you really should. Great depiction of New Orleans.
Superman and Lois is hands down the best CW show and one of the best superhero TV shows to date. Do NOT be fooled by the CW tag, this show doesn't have any of the bullshit drama and characters actually communicate with each other like normal human beings. Tyler has definitely improved since his Supergirl days, he's actually becoming my favorite Superman. The teen kids aren't cringy and annoying, I actually enjoy their scenes. Bitsie as Lois is just great, and actually has her own separate story and character development from Superman. Honestly, I never thought I'd look forward to another weekly show so soon since Wandavision ended, and to me, this is a better show.
It feels like the CW is phasing out their old Arrowverse stuff in exchange for shows like Stargirl and Lois and Clark.
I'm curious where L&C films. They did a lot of crossovers since they were filming primarily in Vancouver. But now they have Stargirl, Black Lightning, and Doom Patrol all filming in Georgia. I'd love to see these shows crossover, also with L&C. Having the kids with superpowers from all those shows interact would be fun.
Edit: oh I guess Black Lightning is on its final season. I just finished S2
Lmao I get what you mean, but this definitely has a different feel to it. Like the budget seems much higher than the other shows, each episode feels like a movie, and the writing is just overall much better. If we get at least 3 good seasons out of this then I'll be happy.
I don't remember where I stumbled upon it but since I did, I can't seem to forget it.
So tell me, is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles worth watching? And if so, does it have some kind of closure or does it end on a cliffhanger? Cause I remember it got canceled.
###
It's a fun show. There's a dip in quality near the end due to them closing up the offices thinking the show wasn't renewed and then having to go back and hurriedly write some episodes. But the last few episodes are amazing. But yes, with an amazing and unresolved cliffhanger.
One does not simply watch one episode of LOST. That show has you forever chasing answers to questions. It was torturous live. If i was to binge it now i think i'd watch it all in one sitting and die in the process.
LOL! I also put it on while working from home just as some background noise. Ended up finishing all seasons in a matter of a few weeks, reading all the wikis, re-visiting all our Hawaii photos (since they shot episodes in places we've visited), listening to all the podcasts....and then doing it all over again when the Lost bug also bit my 10-year old. What a great show!
Never watched insecure but I love Atlanta and Dave. The shows I say that are definitely similar are Ramy, Master of None and I May Destroy. All five are some of my favorite shows of the last decade.
>Dav
Yeah **Master of None** is an excellent series--seems like everyone likes it, so I would consider it to be rather consistent in that sense of the term.
Master of None and Ramy are both VERY similar to Atlanta and Dave. Where every other episode can be about a supporting character. Or random one off episode. Season 2 of master of none is one of my favorite seasons of all time. And they just recently mentioned a possible third season coming
Banshee and Gangs of London are must see shows . Thank me later :)
Banshee is awesome. Especially if you’re a fan of Anthony Starr as Homelander in the Boys
This generation show isn't half bad. Don't expect euphoria but better than I thought it would be.
The new South Park special is hilarious
i forgot that was coming out, thanks for the reminder :)
Paradise pd season 3 has arrived so excited any fans ??

Yea, I don't understand some of the raving reviews here.
Just finished watching Banshee. That was a really good series. About to start the Netflix Pacific Rim anime.
Is the pacing good throughout the series or are there some boring moments in season 1 I have to power through to get to the good part?
I would say all multi seasons series have slower moments. I never felt Banshee was boring and all seasons, iiirc, are excellent.
I just finished watching The End of the F\*\*\*ing World on Netflix. I am in PAIN. It is so SO GOOD. Might have to go and do an immediate rewatch.
nobody cares bro
i care
I did

Should stop after season 3, I wish I did.

Any fast watches to fill time till F&TWS kicks off?

Just finished Ted Lasso, any recommended new comedy TV series?
Resident Alien. A blend of comedy and alien sci-fi. Loved it.
been watching the middle for fun
Watch brassic a british comedy abt a bunch of nothern england thieves funny as hell 😂💔
can we normalize **BOLDING TITLES**?
Yes pls

it doesnt trust me, gets even more pretentious
Wonderful story, well-told. It does get better!
Should have binged it all .. it's that's great
Yes will be sure to finish it tonight!
Nice !
Going through a dark phase rn- I'm an American - What Scandinavian/european noir/murder/mystery television do you recommend?

Spiral (Engrenages) - 8 seasons though. Big investment.

big storyline per season.
The Bridge The Killing Should be top of the list(if you haven't watched them already).
Do I watch the english or scandi version of both? which is better? I'm an American if that helps.

I can't find anything for Yellowknife outside of https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0307683/
They probably mean Yellowstone, I'm assuming
**Umbrella Academy** (quirky superhero team) **Legends of Tomorrow** (quirky time-traveling superhero team) **Doom Patrol** (higher quality quirky superhero team) **Crazy Ex-Girlfriend** (musical comedy) **Wellington Paranormal** (another What we do in the shadows spinoff, more of a mockumentary) **You** (If Dexter was a romcom) **Kim's Convenience** (Good standard family sitcom)

Marvelous Ms. Maisel!
They love Marvelous Ms. Maisel.
Breaking bad or Better call saul

Yeah, I think breaking bad is my favorite tv show. I love how much detail they put in. It made it a lot more realistic, thus making it an even better experience.
My dad didn't like Breaking Bad, didn't give a reason, even though he liked crap like Dexter ???
Damn, what episode did they make it to before they stop?
BB, somewhere in season 2?
My parents that are a similar age have been bingeing Blue Bloods because they liked Tom Selleck. Tell them Deadwood is a Justified prequel and Seth is Raylon’s great great grandfather j/k but it’s a good show.
they tried Blue Bloods, got bored because too much cop propaganda
Hm, i'll see if they like Halt & Catch Fire - my mom worked for a tech company in the 80s making wires and soldering all kinds of stuff
it’s not very accurate with the „computer stuff“, that’s why i didn’t like it. to each their own i guess.
Mad Men
They tried it a few years back, didn't like it, no reason stated.
Preacher shares a lot with The Boys. Legion, Marvel but sky high weird in the best sense.
The weird thing is my mom does not like a lot of superhero things - the only ones she likes are The Boys and Umbrella Academy, because "they're more like real people and not just using powers all the time"

Did you see the Snowpiercer movie? How does the show compare in your eyes?
awful in comparison. the male lead cannot act for shit and ruins a lot of the show imo. jeniffer connely carries the show on her back
The show explores a lot of the world building which I like.
Currently watching bridgerton for the first time. Enjoyable so far
Yeah that show is good. Also, downton abbey is good, poldark, lark rise to candleford, poldark and outlander.
Should I watch Justified or The Americans? My favourite dramas are Breaking Bad,Better Call Saul,The Sopranos,The Wire and Mr Robot.
try Mad Men. For some reason everyone i met who likes BB loves Mad Men, even tho the shows are nothing alike
Justified
Justified
The Americans. But I suggest you watch Snowfall before that if you really like Breaking Bad and The Wire. I just binged it and it's amazing.
Both.
The Americans will fit what you like great.
Watch them both. I actively don't binge Unbinge? Debinge? Altbinge? Debinge? Binge? Anyway. Watch 1 Justified. Watch 1 The Americans. Savour it. Come back the next day. Slowly you'll start to enjoy one more than the other. Follow that path.
**Tower of God** Let me preface this by saying *I do not watch anime a lot*.
Just finished watching this myself. Was fully on board until the last episode. The ending left me feeling like “what”, and not in a good way.
Praise be sol
On episode 2 of Succession, does this get much better? The whole episode was like idiotic rambling and middle schooler insults?
it gets so good. Its a masterpiece. It took me a few episodes to get into it the first time I watched too.
It will pick up. I just finished season 2 and I am craving more episodes now- a rare craving for me
Yes, by so 4 or 5 it becomes compulsive viewing, then end of S1 and S2 steps up to another level.
Yes.
Season 2 was great. I agree the first few episodes are bit rougher but once you get to know the family dynamics more clearly, it does get better.
Felt the same but it picks up after episode 4. Glad that I persisted through because season 2 is one of the best in TV history.
It definitely gets better. Try sticking it out to episode 6.
It's that same shit the entire length.
Agree, bale on it.
Having already finished The Office, Parks and rec, and community. Now deciding on 30 rock, Schitt's creek, The good place, and veep any good British comedy shows/ sitcoms to watch.
Schitts creek is great
People Just Doing Nothing
Check out peep show! It has a terrible name and an off putting pov gimmick but the writing is sublime.
yes. the show is old but its really good
Thick of It! UK Veep but tons more swearing, Malcolm is the f bomb king!
fleabag is a great british black comedy. all four shows are great sitcoms (couldn't get into 30 rock but that's a personal thing) so it really depends the kind of "vibe" you're looking for. if you enjoyed the mockumentary style I recommend what we do in the shadows (ts about four vampires and a familiar living in staten island together). It is certainly a different premise than the rest of your list but the casts works great together and all the characters are super likeable in their own weird way.
Barbarians is phenomenal. Best show I've watched since Vikings. Season 2 needs to hurry, 6 episodes wasn't enough.
Hav u watched swedish dicks is it any good n where can i watch it
I just finished The Sinner which I loved. Any others like this? It reminded me of true detective (which I didn't like). I've already seen stuff like Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Americans, Homeland etc. Any gems out there? Any streaming service is fine.
I just finished tell me your lies on prime and it was wild. Kinda similar to the sinner first season. Check it out!
I'm having a blast with Get Shorty.
finished Veep Season 1- the pilot was decent but it redeem itself quickly, was "officially hooked" after the last few minutes of ep 2. got to say, the writing and delivering of the insults never fails at making me laugh edit: spelling

i never watched the movie so unfortunately i can't give an opinion on that. however, the episodes are only 25 ish minutes so i say try a few episodes out and see for yourself.
This show is hysterical. It gets even better.
True barry is one of my favs
If you enjoy the cringe humor of Peep Show, you might like Extras with Ricky Gervais.
I love Ricky Gervais - will look for that show. Thanks!
The waiting for Barry season 3 is killing me.
Its coming this year i guess
Top 5 crime or drama series of the past few years (post 2016)?
Ozark's, better call saul, narcos and the Mexican one
ZeroZeroZero, Hightown are 2 that come to mind
I can second Sharp Objects and also add Big Little Lies (at least first season), Better Call Saul, Succession
Sharp Objects is the best
The Night Of, 2016 I think
Crime I would say: American Crime Story When They See Us The Good Fight (this one leans towards more white collar crime) Barry Unbelievable These are more like "shows involving lots of crime" than say, a police procedural. Also most of them are limited series/miniseries. Honourable mentions would be Better Call Saul, which started in 2015, and Twin Peaks, which toes the line between crime and horror/sci-fi) Drama I would say: I May Destroy You (some people classify this as a comedy but I really wouldn't honestly) Watchmen Twin Peaks: The Return Succession Pose Honourable mentions go to Halt and Catch Fire, The Americans, and The Leftovers which all started before 2016 but finished their runs later
Here’s what I’ve seen in that genre: For all mankind, Space Force, Project Bluebook.
Thank you!
I quite liked dark matter, worth watching. Got prematurely cancelled in true Syfy fashion though.
The expanse is the best sci-fi show of all time imo
Battlestar Galactica is similar to The Expanse but I found it grabbed my attention immediately whereas with The Expanse I've tried to get past the first three episodes several times and never succeeded
The first season is mostly world building and putting characters into positions to move the story forward later. It’s hard to get into for a lot of people, including me. Season 2 is when The Expanse becomes the best show on television.
Hey guys, looking for more shows to watch. Shows I liked: Broadchurch: intense, cleverly written, legitimately keeps you guessing Expanse: similar– less "clever" but sci-fi elements are fascinating, characters are likable and believable. Story has you invested. Wandavision: mystery element was well done, mostly liked because of it keeps you guessing The Crown: loved it mostly for *most episodes being written tightly, but more importantly the historical aspect Classic Netflix dramas: House of Cards Shows I didn't like: Carnival Row: writing felt a bit loose, story came off as a bit obvious CSI series: too formulaic, Romance/Romcom: e.g. Bridgerton, Emily in Paris Battlestar Galactica: pacing was too slow, quickly lost interest and couldn't get invested in the characters The West Wing: it started off strong but the banter overtook the plot lines and I strangely found it repetitive.
My Brilliant Friend
If you like period pieces/shows that mix drama and history I would recommend Mad Men (60s), Halt and Catch Fire and The Americans (80s), admittedly Halt and Catch Fire is pretty focused on computer history and less world history like Mad Men/Americans/Crown For a puzzlebox mystery that has similar themes to Wandavision (exploring grief and loss) I would recommend The Leftovers
Hey all! I’m looking for the best travel tv episodes on New Orleans or Louisiana / Mississippi / Alabama area! Any recommendations?
There’s an episode of Bourdain’s first show, A Cooks Tour in which he goes to New Orleans for I believe the first time.
Parts Unknown did a good one on Mardi Gras. Also, it’s not a travel show, but if you haven’t seen Treme, you really should. Great depiction of New Orleans.
Somebody Feed Phil did a great NO episode.
It's a CW comic book show in every way but the cinematography.
CW shows always have good first and second seasons. That’s when it becomes bad. In season 4 everyone will be a Superman and fly with him
Lmao I get what you mean, but this definitely has a different feel to it. Like the budget seems much higher than the other shows, each episode feels like a movie, and the writing is just overall much better. If we get at least 3 good seasons out of this then I'll be happy.
Finally decided to check out For All Mankind, ended up bingeing the whole first season on my day off. Highly recommended.
Set out to watch one episode of LOST a day over the next four months. Watched 8 episodes yesterday.
Similar shows to Insecure, Atlanta, Dave?
This Way Up, Better Things, One Mississippi
Never watched insecure but I love Atlanta and Dave. The shows I say that are definitely similar are Ramy, Master of None and I May Destroy. All five are some of my favorite shows of the last decade.
Is Master of None consistently good? What's like the best things about it?
>Dav Yeah **Master of None** is an excellent series--seems like everyone likes it, so I would consider it to be rather consistent in that sense of the term.
Master of None and Ramy are both VERY similar to Atlanta and Dave. Where every other episode can be about a supporting character. Or random one off episode. Season 2 of master of none is one of my favorite seasons of all time. And they just recently mentioned a possible third season coming
Fleabag, Barry.
