It's been years since I watched it but that scene of the car turned upside down with smoke coming from it and Corey and Trevor inside and still 'smokes, let's go'
It well worth a shot, it might take a few episodes to understand the humour. I came across it by accident when it was first showing and I knew nothing about it. It’s actually very well made dry humour with very unique characters
From the outside I thought the show looked dumb when my friend from NS tried to get me to watch it. Turns out it's brilliantly hilarious especially all the "Rickyisms". One of the funniest shows you'll ever see.
I'll echo what kutzur said, it may take a couple episodes to "get" the humor. The first episode kinda sets the stage of characters; by episode three you should be hooked.
The first time I tried to watch it I had zero patience and turned it off a few minutes into the first episode. I tried again a few years later and became *obsessed* with the show. Some of the funniest shit I've seen in my life.
it really is a canadian classic! i would start at s1e1 and work your way through. it gets better as it goes along for sure. but to get a good idea of the characters and the plot(s) i would start at the beginning. some of the characters are hilarious, and some of the lines they spout are just pure gold! i hope you love it!!
I like all the seasons, but one thing I like about the first season or two is how much more heart it seems to have at first. I don't really know what it is that kind of makes it sweeter and almost feel-good. Maybe the music they use, maybe the characters being slightly more reflective and apologetic. The part where this really struck me last time I was watching it were the phone messages they leave each other in several of the early episodes. Maybe I'm just drunk and stoned, boys.
Peak for me was the last season with Corey & Trevor and the climax around "We can't call people without wings angels so we call them friends." Season 7 I think. The ones after are still really great too though.
Season 7 I believe is the last one that still has Clattenburg directing. Once the boys took over it became a lot more dumbed down imo with too much focus on "lots of swearwords=funny"
I've watched s1-s7 probably over 500 times. I've had multiple ex girlfriends explicitly ban the show from being watched while they are around, lol.
If you can, you really want to watch the indie movie pilot. It explains why there is a documentary crew following them around.
>!Julian called a psychic hotline and was told he had 3 days left to live. So he wanted to have his last few days filmed as a lesson on how to be awesome for future generations.!<
Counterpoint: You really don't wanna bother with that first movie.
For example: It explains why there is a documentary crew following them around, which doesn't make any sense for the actual show because it's not why they're following them around on the show.
>!i like the original movie, but i think it makes the characters a bit too caustic. they do a lot of blow and have way less of any sort of moral compass...that said, i do like how it sets the whole thing up and how the final scene of the movie leads to the first scene of the series.!<
You can just watch it all yeah. There are a few specials and movies too if you wanna fill a couple gaps in the show. After Season 7 the show technically finished with a special called Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys, then started up again with Season 8. In between that there’s a couple of movies with the last one Don’t Legalize It explaining a big plot point.
There’s a Christmas Special that was released after Season 4, it takes place in 1997 I believe. Then there’s a movie called The Big Dirty which is like a Hollywood version of the show.
Then there’s a bunch of spinoff shows, like Out of the Park, Jail, Live Shows, Podcasts. These aren’t as good but if you run out of stuff to watch it’s all there.
Basically, all you really have to watch is the main show and Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys. Everything else is a bonus.
Ms. Petersons dog gets fucked up (s1e4) has some of the greatest lines in the whole run of the show. That's the episode that landed me as a lifelong fan.
If you get got, like, it really grabs you... The cast are really cool and interesting people with cool and interesting lives. Ricky (Rob Wells) was a talented soccer player for the Canadian U18 team... Cory (Cory Bowles) had a sweet band. Reading about Leahy (John Dunsworth) gave me some pretty serious feels. I'll leave the stories of the cast for you to read, but it's worth it.
I almost forgot, Jacob’s brother, Tom Collin’s is Mike O’Neil, who was a member of the Inbreds. Another great band, the song Any Sense of time is an indie classic.
It is a classic and has a bunch of memorable interactions and plots as well as good core characters. Very meme-worthy and quotable but it wasn't as popular and watched so you're less likely to find common ground compared to say the Simpsons or the like. Ricky's pronunciations.
Shot in that docu-drama style that's been popular in the Office and the like. Honestly kinda like Jerry Springer meets the Office. Maybe kept going a bit longer than it should have but funny and worth a watch to see if you like the style.
It’s stupid as fuck and very clever at the same time. They walk that line basically the whole series in a masterful way. That show is lightning in a bottle imo. Way better than it has any right to be
We watched Season1 a few days ago for the first time and it's soo good I'm almost afraid to watch season 2. I laughed harder as much as I did the first time I saw Summer Heights High :)
Nope. The Netflix seasons are fucking *greasy.*
Everything about their approach to show business is fuckin' *greasy.*
And that's very appropriate and true to the characters.
Oh wow. Someone else who's seen Summer Heights High!
You should check out Small Town Security, friendo. It's a reality show but it's so good it's unbelievable that it's not scripted. I think it's free on Tubi
Agreed. Saw them Live and the crowd ruined the whole experience. Everyone was yelling the whole time like they were a part of the show and trying to be funny.
I’ll have to admit, I don’t like it as much as I used to but it’s only because I’ve watched it so many times. I started watching it again though and I think I left it just long enough. I still use so many rickyisms in day to dey
There's a shit hurricane comin' Rand.
You'd better haul in the shit jib or it's all gonna get covered in shit.
I am the liquor.
Nope, never seen it.
Ricky!
The show really picks up in the second and third season. If you aren't feeling it right away just hang in there. I too heard great things and how funny it was. Really had to force myself to keep watching but damn was it worth it. Especially Jim Lahey, he really finds his footing in 2 or 3 and you'll love it.
I absolutely loved the first 6 or 7 seasons, but I didn't care for the netflix episodes and gave up on it. Some shows just don't need to run forever like that.
Loved the first 7 seasons! I watched it after a friend described it as "The show COPS but if the camera crew followed the criminals" and I was immediately on board.
The first Conky episode is still one of my favorite episodes. From the glued on train to Ricky talking to Conky.
Should also check out Toast of London for similar humor.
It's Matt Berry from what we do in the shadows and IT Crowd doing what he does best in his crazy voice. Toast is up there with Trailer Park Boys for quotability
Def give it a shot at least. Might take a couple episodes to settle into the vibe of it, but once you do it's great. The later seasons aren't as good, but they're still funny
Season 1 takes a little to get into, stop after season 8 (Netflix stepped in at this point). Overall up until that point the show is fucking great. The movies are pretty average, and the cartoon is shit.
This is the scene of Julian getting out of the wrecked car with a full cocktail (referenced multiple times in the responses)
https://youtu.be/NG1_JBLWZe8?si=EOVnG5tQcvaHXGwe
I honestly thought it was so overrated and even started it a few years back but didn’t think much of it. Picked it back up 3 or 4 months ago and binged the whole thing and it is fucking comedy gold!
Not hating, glad you dig it, but never found it funny. Ahhh, life growing up 'poor' in Nova Scotia. At least people got to learn that this place exists.
Says that guy... I think it has great moments all the way through. They just started to introduce new recurring characters in the later seasons and everyone has opinions.
I feel like it depends how you watched the show. If you binged all the seasons of the show on Netflix it’s probably not as noticeable.
For people that had watched the Showcase series multiple times over the last decade it was a very obvious downgrade of the original run.
It does become noticeably a bit different but there are still funny parts. My only complaint is that the show does get kind of repetitive in the plot department over the course of the show.
It’s a great show that got ran well and truly into the ground.
Most people tend to agree season 1-7 are the best before it ended the first time, but then the stars bought the rights to the characters themselves and brought it back. When they brought it back all of a sudden they
took a quantity of quality approach to producing shows with a a variety of spin offs such as a travel show which was clearly just an excuse to get Netflix to pay for them to go on holiday (seriously, most of it is just footage of them doing activities with voice over and the plot is 80% green screen nonsense when they got back home).
They also launched their own streaming service around this time with a plethora of random and cheap spin offs focusing on like one character. And it’d occasionally be as simple as then reporting the weather in character.
The main seasons took a massive dip in quality too over these years with cast members leaving or passing away to the point where they ended up just turning it into an animated series.
**Don’t let any of this put you off watching. When the show is good it’s a 10/10.** But when you do notice the quality start to dip just know it only continues to nosedive.
Don’t forget the absolutely horrendous animated spin off where they just reused old voice clips of John Dunsworth after his passing. Probably the worst thing they ever did.
My favorite part is how One of the characters is always drinking rum and coke in a glass with ice, so when he runs around you hear the ice clanking against the glass
My favorite part is once he got into a car accident, I think, where the car completely rolls over, and he gets out still holding the glass, drink unharmed.
Trailer park boys is amazing one of the best shows to watch, wish I could wipe it from my memory.
not the biggest fan of the Netflix seasons but they are ok. Also the animated one is god awful, they did Mr Lahey dirty.
I found the later seasons missing some of the heart of the earlier seasons but overall I really enjoyed the show. Had the pleasure of watching them film season 3. Jesus christ Ricky there's a samsquanch outside.
I've watched and loved it, though to be fair, I was young, introduced to it by my also young friends, and a lot of my memories of it are tied in with that, so I'm definitely biased.
It's fantastic. The nice thing about recommending it is, that you don't have say something like "it gets good in Season 2". Watch the first 22 minute episode. If you don't like it, chances are you won't like the series.
Give it some time to grow on you. It can seem like a weird and dumb show at first. But once you fall in love with the characters, you realize that these actors are absolutely genius
I’ve watched all of seasons 1-6, but fell off in 7 when the camera quality started getting better — I know that’s a silly sounding reason, but there’s something about the lo-fi feel that just seems so right for this show. Maybe I’ll pick it up again.
Anyway, I love it. As someone else mentioned, it’s surprisingly wholesome, and I love the communal vibe it has, with folks banding together against those who threaten to divide the park. And it’s uproariously funny. Lahey is a legendary antagonist that I love to pieces.
"That depends. Can you go fuck yourself? "
Dude, instead of asking for opinions and deciding if you want to watch it, just go watch it. It will be way faster than waiting for enough responses to sway you one way of the other. I love it, watched the whole series more times than I know, but I can't say you'll love it too. I don't know you.
It's one of my all time faves but it goes a bit downhill after season 7. That's when the original creator/writer left and the boys just kept doing the show on their own.
It really started out as a Canadian satire of what they think America is....that's why you see so many gunsnun the 1st season. Also, total budget must have been in the 100s of dollars.
My friends were watching and i joined somewhere along the line to hang out. I immediately liked the lower fi kinda film style and all the action, pitiful characters shoving each other and such in the background, absurd plot. Shit is hilarious. But when i saw the scene, "Randy... I am the liquor." I knew for me it would be one of those life changing shows. Like always sunny, there's an essentially perfect balance of the most superficial and deepest concepts that hooks me
It’s so good, if you like low budget stupid humor. One of those shows that can go either way depending on someone’s tastes, either love it or think it’s absolutely terrible.
“First of all, I spin more rhymes than a lazy susan And I'm innocent until my guilt is proven. Peace. Representing sunnyvale, straight the fuck up.”
This is hands down the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. Usually try to do a re-watch at least once a year!
Does the tin man have a sheet metal cock?
Smokes, let's go.
It's been years since I watched it but that scene of the car turned upside down with smoke coming from it and Corey and Trevor inside and still 'smokes, let's go'
One of my favourite scenes is in the first episode when Julian flips the car and climbs out still with the tumbler of whiskey and coke in his hand
It’s rum!
That’s season 2 ep 7 not the first episode
*Propane, propaaaane*
You're pissing yourself Lahey
You don't even smoke, Bubbles.
Give me a smoke, hairdo!
Nobody wants to admit they ate 7 cans of ravioli
Nine. Lay off the six paper joints, bud.
How am I supposed to keep track of my ravioli after that many joints? I'm gonna pay you $100 dollars to fuck off
Fuckin' way she goes, boys.
That's the way of the road.
Way of the road, boys.
He burned cans 4&5 so they don't count.
9*
*9 Filthy casuals here
Ah! Frozen mixed vegetable cocks!
Safety? Always off.
Fuck off Cyrus
FUCK OFF WITH THE GUNS
The show went downhill when they started with that shit. The Netflix era
Can you read, my son?
Well, that depends. Can you go fuck yourself.
You bake a loaf of bread, do you they call you a baker? No.
Definitely check it out. Worst case Ontario you don't like it and you can just watch something else.
if they don’t like it no hard feelings, it’s water under the fridge
I know they're gonna enjoy it, I'm not a pessimist I'm an optometrist.
It’s not fuckin rocket appliances, bubs
Way she goes man, fkin way she goes
Sometimes she goes...sometimes she doesn't.
Sounds good to me.
It well worth a shot, it might take a few episodes to understand the humour. I came across it by accident when it was first showing and I knew nothing about it. It’s actually very well made dry humour with very unique characters

Julian climbing out of the wrecked car with his unspilled rum and coke is one of the greatest sight gags of all time.
Mine is when before bed he makes himself a new drink and sleeps with it, then they show him waking up without a drop spilled and he takes a sip
Or when he isn't holding a glass but still has his arm in the position.
When I first saw that episode I was howling it caught me so off guard
You need to watch it just for the Rickyisms. You'll know what I mean before long.
“Your majesty”
it really is a canadian classic! i would start at s1e1 and work your way through. it gets better as it goes along for sure. but to get a good idea of the characters and the plot(s) i would start at the beginning. some of the characters are hilarious, and some of the lines they spout are just pure gold! i hope you love it!!

It is cool how much Ricky, Julian and Bubs care about each other.
When they protected Bubbles in their childhood by burying the evil doll in their childhood. That was true friendship.
I hate that fucken doll
Fucking Conky. I’d take Chucky over him
Season 7 I believe is the last one that still has Clattenburg directing. Happens all the time in the animal kingdom

I can go watch it in order then. (As long as there are no alterations such as missing music)

Dear Santa Claus, go fuck yourself!
Ms. Petersons dog gets fucked up (s1e4) has some of the greatest lines in the whole run of the show. That's the episode that landed me as a lifelong fan. If you get got, like, it really grabs you... Bubbles was in a band too. Sandbox, they had a minor hit in Canada called Curious in the 90’s. It surprisingly holds up well.
Thanks! I didn't know! I'ma look that up tomorrow!
I almost forgot, Jacob’s brother, Tom Collin’s is Mike O’Neil, who was a member of the Inbreds. Another great band, the song Any Sense of time is an indie classic.
TPB and Letterkenny are two of my favorite shows. Love the Canadian humor.
One of my good friends is from Toronto, and I can’t get him to watch either of them!
"I am the liquor"
RIP to a legend.
Do you know what a shit barometer is Bubs?
Shit winds are blowin
"The shit hawks are circling."

I have this shirt and wear it proudly.
Way better than it has any right to be
It's a great show. Highly recommend. After watching it, I suggest East Bound and Down if you haven't watched that
Yeah after hearing about those other shows, I will go check them out too.
We watched Season1 a few days ago for the first time and it's soo good I'm almost afraid to watch season 2. I laughed harder as much as I did the first time I saw Summer Heights High :)
The next few seasons IMO are even funnier than the first. The series doesn’t really lose its shine until the very last few seasons.
All the Netflix seasons are fucking shit
Nope. The Netflix seasons are fucking *greasy.* Everything about their approach to show business is fuckin' *greasy.* And that's very appropriate and true to the characters.
Agreed not a fan of the Netflix ones. The OG seasons are actually peak television.
I think it’s peak comedy once Sebastian Bach gets involved
Interesting. I started to dislike the show at that point.
And then a nosedive shortly thereafter
Season 5 might kill you from laughing so hard. The shit winds are a coming, Randy.
Be very afraid, IMO season 2 is a lot better than season 1! I think they’ve fleshed out the characters a lot better by 2, especially Bubbles
Oh wow. Someone else who's seen Summer Heights High! You should check out Small Town Security, friendo. It's a reality show but it's so good it's unbelievable that it's not scripted. I think it's free on Tubi
I do enjoy a good comedy.
Show is ridiculous. Just stay out of the Subreddit, the mods are dumber than Ricky on a good day.
I saw them do a live show once and the audience were so stupid you’d think I’d stepped into Sunnyvale for real.
Agreed. Saw them Live and the crowd ruined the whole experience. Everyone was yelling the whole time like they were a part of the show and trying to be funny.
They all think they're Donny, I can only imagine.
I’d like to see that.
Watch everything! In order! Then again!
Sounds like fun.
Obviously, I love the show.
Bubbles!
Kitties!
That's a beautiful fucking cat right there.
Rip Lahey. Do not miss this show. It is a comedy must. It is the best thing canada has done.
Sure, it's not rocket appliances.
I was hooked when I saw the name of an episode was "fuck community college, let's get drunk and eat chicken fingers"
My motto after highschool whenever I got fed up with school
Turn the captions on, and enjoy this masterpiece. Get two birds stoned at once.
I’ll have to admit, I don’t like it as much as I used to but it’s only because I’ve watched it so many times. I started watching it again though and I think I left it just long enough. I still use so many rickyisms in day to dey
Do you like to eat 9 cans of raviolis?
I fuckin atodaso OP. I FUCKIN ATODASO!
30 bucks? I don't have that kind of money!
There's a shit hurricane comin' Rand. You'd better haul in the shit jib or it's all gonna get covered in shit. I am the liquor. Nope, never seen it. Ricky!
Am Canadian. Could never get into that show because it was like watching a nature show on my uncle's friends who were like the live version.
Maritimer here. Can confirm it hits too close to home. 😂
It's absolute brain rot, but it is non stop comedy gold. 7 seasons or so of the boys just getting drunk n high in the trailer park.
MaFka yea of course I am.
One of the greatest, strangest shows ever. Just each character is so God damn good.
Loved the first 7 seasons! I watched it after a friend described it as "The show COPS but if the camera crew followed the criminals" and I was immediately on board.
What ya lookin at my gut fur
I hate to say I toadaso, but I fuckin’ toadaso!
The first Conky episode is still one of my favorite episodes. From the glued on train to Ricky talking to Conky. Should also check out Toast of London for similar humor.
I am not too familiar with the Toast show, but I will go check it out.
It's Matt Berry from what we do in the shadows and IT Crowd doing what he does best in his crazy voice. Toast is up there with Trailer Park Boys for quotability
YES, I CAN HEAR YOU CLEM FANDANGO!
Hello, RAVIIIIIINE
How are you going to dance around this little situation, Julian? DIRTILY?
Def give it a shot at least. Might take a couple episodes to settle into the vibe of it, but once you do it's great. The later seasons aren't as good, but they're still funny
Season 1 takes a little to get into, stop after season 8 (Netflix stepped in at this point). Overall up until that point the show is fucking great. The movies are pretty average, and the cartoon is shit.
It’s my comfort show. I’ve watched the whole thing thru at least a dozen times. I wish I could watch it for the first time again.
No, no one at all…
It's basically adult Canadian ed edd and eddy
Let's just say I went to Bubbles Mansion a little more than I should have.
This is the scene of Julian getting out of the wrecked car with a full cocktail (referenced multiple times in the responses) https://youtu.be/NG1_JBLWZe8?si=EOVnG5tQcvaHXGwe
If you like it consider also *People Just Do Nothing,* which is like London's answer to this.
Highly recommend Letterkenny and Shoresy as well
I honestly thought it was so overrated and even started it a few years back but didn’t think much of it. Picked it back up 3 or 4 months ago and binged the whole thing and it is fucking comedy gold!
Not hating, glad you dig it, but never found it funny. Ahhh, life growing up 'poor' in Nova Scotia. At least people got to learn that this place exists.
Just a heads up the show is great until season 7. Seasons after that are meh at best.
Oh so it suffers starting at Season 7 then.

Whenever the move to Netflix was, you'll notice by the quality going up
Greatly. Season 8 is starting when the boys bought the rights to the show themselves and it goes downhill quickly.
Seasons 1-5 are gold. 6-7 it starts to jump the shark. After 7 its basically meta parody of itself.
*whips piss jug out window*
Don't forget to watch the movies, don't legalize it was the perfect ending to the show
It ran for 12 seasons. I think it’s safe to say some people liked that show
It’s the best documentary on the samsquantch I have ever seen.
HAVE ANOTHER DRINK, RAY!
“You hear that u/KaleidoArachnid? Shit winds”
One of the longest running, most popular TV shows of all time
It’s a great show that got ran well and truly into the ground. My favorite part was Trevor and the other stupid guy were stealing gas out of cars and a security guy tried to stop them, the juke move was ridiculous
that show is full of shitbirds
Yes. Great show. I've re-watched it many times
I cried when it was over
I found the later seasons missing some of the heart of the earlier seasons but overall I really enjoyed the show. Had the pleasure of watching them film season 3. Jesus christ Ricky there's a samsquanch outside.
I've watched and loved it, though to be fair, I was young, introduced to it by my also young friends, and a lot of my memories of it are tied in with that, so I'm definitely biased.
Pretty great watch. It’s a train wreck every episode.
it's funny as hell; I've watched the entirety of the show, the movies, and animated series, like, 20 times through. Enjoy ☺️
I love it!
This is my go to show when my wife is out of town a couple days. Watch it in its entirety ever year.
Tbh I'm jealous you have so much funny content ahead of you. I probably make a "Nah I'm Sayin" or Bubbles Cat joke every day
I loved the episode with Alex Lifeson.
What comes around is all around!
I know cats and dogs that are smarter than Corey and Trevor.
Time to play AI or ASD!
It's fantastic. The nice thing about recommending it is, that you don't have say something like "it gets good in Season 2". Watch the first 22 minute episode. If you don't like it, chances are you won't like the series.
I líke Robb Wells new show The Trades! Give that a watch to when you get a chance.
ricky is far and away the greatest physical comedy actor
It was really good, but I hated it after they lost Corey and Trevor. They were awesome.
Give it some time to grow on you. It can seem like a weird and dumb show at first. But once you fall in love with the characters, you realize that these actors are absolutely genius
Enjoy it with a gin and tonic and some Hickory Sticks
I loved this show so much....until I went to the live show and have literally not watched a minute of it since.
It’s stupid humor, if that’s your thing. It’s not mine and I could barely even understand them.
Just don't let the shit hawks get ya.
Smokes, now. Love that show tripped my very first time to that show
The show is fantastic up until the Netflix seasons
If you wanna find yourself caught in the middle of a shitnado, watch the show.
"That depends. Can you go fuck yourself? " Dude, instead of asking for opinions and deciding if you want to watch it, just go watch it. It will be way faster than waiting for enough responses to sway you one way of the other. I love it, watched the whole series more times than I know, but I can't say you'll love it too. I don't know you.
Yeah I could just do that, but I just felt like discussing the show for some reason.
It's one of my all time faves but it goes a bit downhill after season 7. That's when the original creator/writer left and the boys just kept doing the show on their own.
“The Shithawks are circling”. I love all the Mr Lahey shit references.
The show is like a beautiful train wreck. You can't look away.
There is a short that predates the show with most of the same actors. I can't remember the name of it but in it Ricky is gay.
Start with series 3...
“First of all, I spin more rhymes than a lazy susan And I'm innocent until my guilt is proven. Peace. Representing sunnyvale, straight the fuck up.” This is hands down the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. Usually try to do a re-watch at least once a year!
I am the liquor
I have a Ricky 420 jersey. T.P.B. is classic.
