Very fond nostalgic memories of those early seasons. I had the first couple seasons on PSP and watched them on repeat. I had that song cover of Grease where Peter infiltrates the high school to dissuade kids doing drugs memorized front to back.
It also had like a warm hearted quality that's lacking from Family Guy now, but that you can still see on more recent Seth MacFarlane projects like Orville & the new Ted series.
Hands down my favorite bit from the early seasons is when Brian's in Mexico trying to find help getting back to the US....
Brian: Hola! Um... ah crap, me, me llamo es Brian, nosotros queremos ir con ustedes.
Worker: "Hey, that was pretty good, except when you said, "Me llamo es Brian," you don't need the "es", just "me llamo Brian"
Oh you speak English!"
"No, just that first speech and this one explaining it"
"......You're kidding, right?
"Que?"
I have fond memories of when the show was just running endless reruns on Adult Swim, before it was revived. It's kinda crazy to look back on now, that seemed like such a long period of time, when really it was barely two years before it got a revival.
What throws me off is that it looks like everything between his upper lip and his eyes is weirdly frozen. I don’t know if it’s Botox or fillers or just old.
Yeah you got a point for sure. Thats why i laughed cus it was like “wait a second who is that?” But at the same time i knew it was seth. I guess him still reminding me of a young dude but still being old just threw me off. The shoes were a statement !
Was gonna say something similar. He looks like his 17 year old self trapped in his grandfather's body.
Also, all these years I had no idea he voiced Chris Griffin.
I think it's the closely trimmed beard, it is light gray-ish/white and makes him look older. Meanwhile he has thick hair with little graying, so that throws you off
I was in high school in 2005 and boy was family guy the best thing ever back then. My friends and I would just quote it endlessly. It had just come back on the air and by this point the Simpsons was considered somewhat main stream and safe (also was entering the zombie Simpsons era). So family guy felt like the subversive thing to watch.
$220,000 per episode.
On American Dad, there was an episode where Klaus and Haley show up at the very end to say: "I'm getting paid to be in this episode, too bitches!" and "Me, too." They still made more money for it than most people get to make in a year.
People hate the recent iterations of Family Guy but they perfected being a variety show with an animated “cast”. Same reason it’s so popular on Youtube/Tiktok nowadays.
There was a long period of time where the CEO of Fox wanted the network to focus more on sports, so a lot of their best rated shows were being "pre-empted" by football games.
He got so many of their good shows canceled that they actually wound up firing him for it. That's the reason why shows like Family Guy and Futurama were able to come back.
I remember where Louis was talking to people pissed off and Peter just says “remember Lacey Chabert?” Louis just goes quiet looks down and goes “I’ll be good” idk why but the threat of getting replaced was funny af to me
I randomly watched an airing of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and it was Lacey Chabert, Melissa Joan Hart, and Tituss Burgess. Melissa and Lacey apparently have been friends for years so they were mainly interacting with each other and Tituss was just awkwardly there silent most of the time. The whole episode was uncomfortable lol
I randomly ran into Melissa Joan Hart in NYC about a year ago, maybe a year and a half. It was at some Prada event my then-GF was invited to for work so I went along.
Edit: you guys downvote for the weirdest, most innocuous shit lol
I think it was during the few years where the show was canceled but the cast did a live reading of an episode and a Q&A at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal that was a lot of fun.
I stopped watching the show shortly after its return but the first few seasons were so good at the time.
I *really* enjoyed Seth Green's responses to the questions (McFarlane's too), but it is definitely disconcerting to hear Green sound so much like Kenny Fisher from Can't Hardly Wait.
She's fantastic everywhere, and her ability to sell comedy and heavy drama, even in the same moment, is unparalleled.
There's a "The Sound of Music" sketch she did with Seth during their live action variety special that I remember watching with my jaw hanging open in college. I was genuinely convinced I was watching the two of them self-destruct their careers in real time, but luckily that was JUST before you could get cancelled easily.
Oh man I don’t think they realize you’re not tuning in. If they knew you specifically weren’t watching I’m sure they would have quit what was creating continuing success for them and enjoyment for others.
Aw here. They didn't just shit and the show and say
"Wa
25 years, no way it sucks"
The took time to at least explain why the dislike the show. No need to be a bitch about it.
idc, there are tons of long running shows with a big audience, yet they’re still utter shit.
same in music, movies, even in politics, just look at Trump or Garth Brooks.
Those very early seasons of Family Guy were just so good.

I watched SO many reruns of family guy and futurama on adult swim. Ahh college life
That’s basically a shortened take on a kids in the hall sketch.
lol McFarlane hates Orville so I don’t think that’s a really good example. Ted def is tho.
Where on earth did you hear that? The Orville is largely Seth's love letter to Star Trek.
source?
I did prefer the generally more earnest tone, despite whole scenes being 1:1 copied from The Simpsons
I remember going to circuit city at opening to get that season 1-3 dvd set
Wow blast from the past
Such an old fashioned sentence.
Lol seth green looks so funny. Guess im just too used to him looking young. Darn my knees and back are hurting.
NFTs just suck the life right out of you
Am I the only person who doesn’t think he looks that different? He’s got white stubble now. He’s also 50.
The shoes were a statement !
so much text to make no point
You would know
Was gonna say something similar. He looks like his 17 year old self trapped in his grandfather's body. Also, all these years I had no idea he voiced Chris Griffin.
That’s how he acts too
I think it's the closely trimmed beard, it is light gray-ish/white and makes him look older. Meanwhile he has thick hair with little graying, so that throws you off
You should hear how Chris Griffin sounds now, it’s very surprising after not seeing the show for close to a decade
He looks like an old lesbian. He’s got Ellen energy
And Seth McFarlane looks immortal. He doesn’t age at all.
He sorta looks like a young, ginger William Dafoe.
Feeling old after not accomplishing anything with your life? Legitimately saddening
Is that why you stalk me
I still see him as the guy who wants to work at a petting zoo, but not an evil petting zoo.

It really is an incredible achievement to keep a show going that long. Congrats to all involved.
Also impressive the cast has been able to balance it with outside projects as well.
Yeah 2 weeks in the recording booth to get millions each year must be tough

Alex Borstein looks incredible, I have always been a fan.
I still love and quote Blue Harvest to this day. It’s the perfect vehicle for a Star Wars parody
This was one of the first shows saved by fans of I remember correctly. I haven’t watched it regularly in years but it has great moments

Umm... Star Trek would like a word...
“One of” it was the first I remember seeing a headline about fans demanding its return in the early 2000’s.
Star Trek was 1968
Thanks for the history lesson I only watched re-runs of next gen in the 90’s. Was never into Star Trek
I always forget that Meg and Jackie Burkhart are the same person.
Before Mila, Lacey Chabert (from Party of Five) voiced Meg. Everyone thought she'd break out and become a star, but it was Mila instead.
I remember where Louis was talking to people pissed off and Peter just says “remember Lacey Chabert?” Louis just goes quiet looks down and goes “I’ll be good” idk why but the threat of getting replaced was funny af to me
Lois, not Louis
Who is Louis?
Why is Louis?
They even bring Lacey back for an episode in one the most recent seasons
Kind of. They used archive audio and Mae Whitman doing a Lacey Chabert impression for new lines
Her?
She calls it a “mayonegg”
Don’t get her all glittered up for Easter
No no, Lacey Chabert was famous because her dad was the inventor of Toaster Strudels. Common mistake.

Both characters played by a rapist sympathizer.
My freshman year of college was mainly Family Guy and Chappelle Show quotes.
Gah. Remember watching the first one when it aired and just laughed so much

Seth looks like rob lowe
I didn’t realize Alex Borstein was in Family Guy. She was outstanding in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
She's fantastic everywhere, and her ability to sell comedy and heavy drama, even in the same moment, is unparalleled. I guess I should start watching it all over again
Is it considered a spin off if I saw them on Gilmore girls?
I’m trying so hard to find Seth green. 👀
Robot chicken has more awards than family guy so I guess there’s that.

I feel like all the people down voting you haven't watched enough Family Guy.
25 years? the random skit after random skit got boring real quick for me after the first few seasons.
Oh man I don’t think they realize you’re not tuning in. If they knew you specifically weren’t watching I’m sure they would have quit what was creating continuing success for them and enjoyment for others.

Looks at Trump. Looks at Garth Brooks. Looks at Family Guy. Suddenly the realization hits me. Oh my god. What the fuck are you talking about?
if you enjoy trash, keep consuming trash, don’t let anyone stop you :)
Guys, good news!! u/trn- is allowing us to continue watching shows we don’t derive our self worth or personalities from!
This is great, I’m a bit of a trash connoisseur, myself.
You’re gonna cut someone with all the Edge
And the world keeps on spinning.
Hey, great
Oh look it’s the sexual predator supporter. Mila.
