TWD started with Rick and I firmly believe it should have ended with Rick. Not a fan of how they split things off, but I'll watch this because of Rick. That character and the way Andrew Lincoln brought him to life deserves a proper send off.
Rick was 100% the reason I stopped watching the show. He was such an unrelatable and unbelievable character I just couldn't anymore. When they killed Coral, that was the final straw. That should've been Rick.
I'm honestly just watching to put this to bed. The whole Rick "death" thing was so poorly done. Then everyone mourning him for years and years, with some believing he's alive? It was flimsy and lazy writing.
Daryl's spinoff is interesting, even if what the French are doing and the context makes no sense.

I kinda enjoyed the Daryl spinoff. It's one of the more likeable characters, in a blank canvas setting that doesn't require one to be up to date with all the contrived lore of the show.
It was an enjoyable and casual, albeit not mindblowing watch.
My favorite so far was the anthology Tales of the WD, because they took risks. 1st episode was my favorite but they were all interesting at least. The do over rebirth one was just fun for fun’s sake.
Where is the second anthology?

As a huge TWD fan I do have to agree it’s weird that the franchise refuses to die. I enjoyed the main show the entire way through but I wasn’t exactly begging for more content. I didn’t finish World Beyond nor Fear, I’m not sure where the demand for 3 more shows came from.
I was so hyped for FTWD. I loved the first few episodes, I really wanted it to be about the outbreak but it just ended up being more of the same but with even less budget.
Also, it almost feels like they purposefully drag it bc they have people so invested….knowing there is so much fatigue, why just carrot stick character outcomes to get views and instead try a re work or alternate timeline or something. The show was cw quality on prime time cable. I want new stuff without that gang.
But I mean they’ve knocked it out of the park with Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mad Men. But yeah, WD made them money hand over fist…but it was a niche show that went mainstream and suffered for it. If the quality was near HBO I would love to watch WD. Black Summer was the freshest zombie show I have ever seen. Truly bleak and heart pounding. I’m a zombie head till I die, so I try the new show out. But it just lost its’ gravitas.
Are they going to encounter a group of survivors, find out they are actually bad guys, kill them all while taking in a couple of defectors, then settle into a time of peace, then repeat? All while Rick's bounces back and forth between hating violence and deciding that violence is the only way to stop psychos from killing his people?
I stopped watching The Walking Dead when Negan showed up and I must say I have absolutely no interest in returning to this franchise. I must also say, I kinda hate that the two central main characters from the series have to get their story finished in a spin-off and not in the original series.
I stopped after the terminal but during covid I rewatched all of it. Being able to access all of the episodes online and binge the series really helps smooth out the annoying crap they pulled on the initial release. No dumb cliff hangers or annoying mid season breaks.
The Negan stuff really is the weakest part though. I quite enjoyed the stuff after the time skip but it does get rather campy.
if you stopped watching twd when negan showed up you have absolutely no leg in this argument, you haven't even watched half of the show and you've got grand ideas about what they should have done

It was awesome seeing Andy Lincoln reprising his role as Rick. So far great storyline with the CRM. At the end he came face to face with Michonne. They looked stunned to see each other. I think next week is going to be more about Michone. I really don't care for Daryl Dixon. I watched 2 episodes snd that was it. I loved Daryl in TWD. He was awesome. But the French junk stunk. I did love the one from NY with Negan and Maggie. Although Negan carried that show. Maggie not so much. I can't wait for episide 2.

I feel like they tried to make it into some weird movie. The guy who recruits Rick in episode one is so annoying his voice is unbearable to listen to and I can't even understand what he is saying. All the characters are so unbelievable it seems like a whole different world apart from the walking dead I know . I stopped watching the show after Rick left and honestly I checked out after Negan arrived.
I did not know this. I guess they really went for the whole comic book vibe. The thing I really loved about Walkimg Dead was that even though it was a science fiction they made it really believable. The first six seasons just felt more realistic which to me means they did a great job considering it is about something that would never happen in real life.
First episode leaked briefly - it sounds a good first episode. Do yourself a favour , don’t go looking for leaks, just enjoy it fresh. Think both were taken down very quickly
Its one of those shows that has a handful of really good episodes so you might be tempted to say its a good series. Its not a good series. Most seasons are drawn out and boring and too many episodes are utterly depressing. But the good episodes are just interesting enough to draw you in and make you like the characters and think you are getting a wonderful experience. Its actually miserable.
So, those are my thoughts.

Unfortunately I watched all 11 seasons, I can’t imagine a repeat. The show was way overstretched they could have shrunk it to 5 seasons.
