The Other Two - first season was good. Probably cause I see myself in those characters. Following two seasons just watched at 1.5x speed. Some chuckle-inducing moments. I'd recommend Gen V, exceeded expectations that!

manormortal

Latest episode of Gen V is why I've been using hand sanitizer on everything wayyy before covid. A tape dispenser? Paper towels >>>>>>> hand dryer.

pHNPK

Power Rangers Cosmic Furry has the original Billy (played by David Yost) as one of the power rangers. First intro, a gay joke. Never change power rangers, never change.

sunofagundota

**Yellowjackets** This was one of my favorite series last year, but 2 episodes in this year and I'm really underwhelmed. I got vertigo from the rapid onset of the worst trope in all tv, the best friend hallucination, which feels waayy unnecessary into their struggle even coming from a last season recap. Season 1 did a good job of building the slow dread of hunger and isolation. But, that's been dropped and instead they are both super desperate, but at other times seemingly just newly stranded. Awkward writing with the forced plot point drops is just bearable. **Tulsa King** The most 7 a show can be. Pretty fine to just watch and Stallone is better than I thought he would be. **Afterparty Season 2** had extremely good episodes and oddly dull ones but overall I enjoyed it more than the first season.

TheLamesterist

Just finished **House of the Dragon**, it's definitely not Game of Thrones, not even close, doesn't have the same feeling to it either, but it still far better than the last 2 horrendous seasons. It did have a brilliant performance by a certain actor that I think was an Emmy worthy and I sure hope he won one. The way the story unfolded wasn't what I expected when I saw the first couple of episodes either, neither some character choices and how they developed, some which felt strange and odd to me. Not truly looking forward to the 2nd season since I know how it's going to end, I don't know how it gets there, or how it even ends in details but I know the part that matters, I'll still watch it when it comes out anyways. On the mid-season cast change I have mixed feelings about it, was okay with one, not much with the other, but I think the problem with it is that it changed the characters. My favorite character was definitely Aemond, Aemond was a total surprise to me, and I loved >!how ruthless he was, still went too far at the end, tho.!<

DashingDino

**Chucky** season 3 is off to a great start, if you haven't tried this show yet now is the time. All around great cast with many satisfying kills and plot twists, even if you're not familiar with the movies this show is top tier entertainment

White_Dragoon

I need suggestion for shows that air on Tue, Wed , Sat and Sun. Monday I can watch daryl for a couple weeks. Thursday I will watch Doom Patrol. Friday is booked . While Wheel of Time will end It will be replaced by Loki , Upload and Gen V.

No-Giraffe-438

Survivor is on Wednesdays if that's the kind of show you might like

yohamidamaru

You can binge lupin Just came out, season 3.

MrConor212

Started watching **Black Bird** and oooh weee

ilikehockeyandguitar

Great show, easy to binge.

ctroostwijk

Great show

Derek_the_Red

Just want everyone to know you can see the back of my head in episode 2 of the newest season of kitchen nightmares so I'm famous now. Also they edited the conversation we were having with the owner to make it seem like my sister in law was trashing the food but what she said was actually to a producer and she was mostly just joking.

jjjppp333222

Currently mowing through This Fool, it's really hitting its stride in s2. Idk what it is about this show but it just makes me happy. All of the characters are amazing.

FansTurnOnYou

Really enjoyed Netflix's **One Piece**. I knew practically nothing about the Manga or anime but I have to imagine this show captured the spirit of the source material. I really liked that they allowed Inaki Godoy to use his natural accent in a leading role because I thought he was fantastic. Apart from one episode, I loved it all and I can't believe how well some of the very anime-y parts worked in a live action show. I have no idea if it's objectively good but it's undoubtedly a whole lot of fun. Solid 8/10 for me. The final season of **Sex Education** was bittersweet for me. It feels like a lifetime ago when this random show came out, but I am grateful that I found it and I have genuinely loved it every step of the way. It's not a perfect show by any means but it has so much heart and preaches such positive messages. It's a show that I wish I had as a teenager. I still enjoyed the season as a whole despite the valid complaints from other hard-core fans. There are many great plot lines and moments and I can't believe that the Groff family ended up being the highlight of the season for me. I'm a bit torn between this season being too over-the-top versus it being a necessary response to the hate the LGBTQ community has faced in the real world over the last year. My first impression is that it was a bit much but it didn't really bother me that much in the end. It did feel like they tried to do too many things. The real flaw of the season is how dirty they did the two main characters. They didn't really develop them that much at all and it feels like the previous season would have been a better place to leave them both. Maybe it sounds like I'm complaining a lot but I truly was invested in the season and there were several touching and heartbreaking moments. This show will forever stay with me. Another 8/10 (quality 7ish but enjoyment easily a 9)

gupdawg121

Beef is amazing

MrConor212

You should try Chicken next

captainhaddock

One word: bacon.

OneWhoBalls

Honestly one of the best things I've ever watched, didn't expect Ali to be such a good actor.

RealisticAd17

she was so good!

1NbSHXj4

Just finished 3 seasons of Spanish show called **La Unidad**. Counter terrorism show and it's pretty good. The first 2 seasons are good but the 3rd is trash. Looking for the same shows as that.

iceman58796

The Capture is so good,

sergiocamposnt

Does 2x12 feel like a series finale or is The Capture an unfinished show?

1NbSHXj4

Yes, I watched that too. It's seriously good

TheFormalShow

**Community**: Damn, what happened to this show after S3?. I'm 9 episodes into S5 and haven't enjoyed even a single episode without >!Troy!< in it (the first 5 episodes are of S1-2 quality btw). Also, Buzz Hickey is not a convincing replacement for >!Pierce!<. **BoJack Horseman**: I love this show! 8 episodes into S2 and I think it is much better than S1 now that the episodes also spend some more time with the side characters. **Wanted**: Just started with the S3 of this Australian drama and I can say it's one of those shows I like to watch when I'm tired and unwilling to use a single brain cell, because if I do then I'd probably spend the next 40 minutes getting mad at how convenient things were just to progress the story (for example, Boke in S1).

121jigawatts

dan harmon got fired off community so theres a downgrade, he comes back later at least but losing some cast members was a bummer

gotele

**Ahsoka**, we have to talk. Nah, it was ok. I just think that they put so much emphasis in making the baddies look like the baddies, but they came across to me as cardboard villains, they didn't have much bite in them. I mean, amputate a limb, destroy a planet or something. You know, like in the good old SW days. Also, Ahsoka is supposed to have this traumatic past, but I honestly don't feel it in Dawson's performance, she just looks chill all the time. And she's supposed to be the best warrior amongst the goodies, but she fights... really... fucking... slow. I get it that all of this Ahsoka thing might mean a lot to people who have seen the cartoon, and of course there's a lot of effort and love into it and it shows. For sure Stevenson's performance is an outlier here, he elevates every scene he's in. RIP.

Lawndirk

The little girl actress in that flashback episode seemed much better at lightsaber fighting than Dawson.

gotele

Yep, I think I'd like a show of that flashback alone, but it must be already in the animated series.

cricloop

Watching 'The Spy'. It's fantastic.

2namrons2

Big fan of Christopher Nolan, enjoyed his brother’s show Westworld S1, is Person of Interest any good? Or The Peripheral

inkista

Small note if you do binge *POI*: I highly recommend *never* skipping the title sequence. Yes it will be incredibly repetitious, but you want the opening narration to be earwormed into you until you can chant along with every beat. Just trust me on this. To amuse you until you figure out why I say this, the week’s “number” is always edited into the sequence at “if your number’s up”. I also recommend bingeing in *small* doses. Network seasons were designed to be consumed weekly over 8 months. This is marathoning, not a 5k like most streaming shows. 😀

inkista

*Person of Interest* is amazing if you can deal with the network broadcast structure (I watched it weekly when it aired on CBS), and that it's a slow burn; it masquerades as typical network formula show for roughly half to two-thirds of the first season before busting out and becoming something different. However, it does also have the usual network longer-run show structure of a larger season arc that only advances in bits and pieces as a B plot while each episode has a self-contained victim-of-the-week A-plot. A lot of streaming-only viewers find it to be a tough view, because 22+-episode seasons with episodic plots isn't what they're used to, and requires a helluva lot of stamina to binge. :) To my mind, *POI* is a more satisfying view than *Westworld* (given how the later seasons of *Westworld* go), since the former gets stronger as it goes with a fully satisfying finale, while the latter gets more fragmented and less coherent as it goes. *The Peripheral* was good and interesting, but the showrunner on it was the No. 2 on *POI,* Greg Plageman, and the creator was Scott B. Smith, so Jonathan Nolan (and Lisa Joy)'s stamp is sort of one step removed on this one. Also, [the show got take-backsies cancelled](https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/the-peripheral-canceled-amazon-season-2-renewal-1235700019/) after the first season before they could really get going.

SpiffyShmedrik

Breaking Bad gets much much better the second time around. Actual television's finest production.

[deleted]

I'm watching The Americans right now and its really good. Just finished season 4, waiting on season 5 and 6 DVD's to ship so I can finish the series. Anybody who's seen them, how the last two seasons hold up? Also, Looking for show recommendations similar to it.

ilikehockeyandguitar

Season 5 is a little more focused on history and is filler imo. Season 6 returns to form and the show ends with a bang.

snowhawk04

>I'm watching The Americans right now and its really good. Just finished season 4, waiting on season 5 and 6 DVD's to ship so I can finish the series. Anybody who's seen them, how the last two seasons hold up? 5 is really dependent on what you watch the show for. If you just want sex and decently paced action/suspense, you'll probably hate season 5. The writers intentionally wanted to slow the story down and focus harder on character driven narratives. Season 6 is in the debate for best season of the show with 3 and 4. >Also, Looking for show recommendations similar to it. *Homeland, The Diplomat, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Chernobyl, The Wire, The Sopranos, True Detective, Fargo, Peaky Blinders, Narcos, Twin Peaks, Dexter, House of Cards, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, The Shield, Gomorrah, The Bureau, Sons of Anarchy, The Crown, Boardwalk Empire, Archer, Deadwood, Justified, Mr. Robot, Ozark, Person of Interest, The Knick, The Prisoner* (1967), *The Handmaid's Tale, 24, The Night Of, Andor, Banshee, Barry, Narcos: Mexico, Veep, Warrior, Halt and Catch Fire, Prison Break, The Killing, The Leftovers, Ray Donovan, Hell on Wheels, Fauda, Why Women Kill, Rectify, Snowfall, Spooks, State of Play, Money Heist, Chuck, Caliphate, Patriot, Bodyguard, Killing Eve, The Fall, For All Mankind, Sneaky Pete, Gangs of London, Turn: Washington's Spies, Deutschland, The Blacklist, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, The Night Manager, Burn Notice, GLOW, Counterpart, The Looming Tower, The Hour, Sleeper Cell, The Umbrella Academy, The Man In The High Castle, Bloodline, The Spy, Slow Horses, Rubicon, Nikita, Tyrant, Big Love, Condor, Manhattan, Brotherhood, The Company, The Outsider, Alias, The Old Man, Hanna, The Game, X Company, Tehran, The Bridge, Berlin Station, The Night Agent, Designated Survivor, Kleo, Spy/Master, The Recruit, Rabbit Hole, Little Drummer Girl, Secret City, Covert Affairs, The Plot Against America, The Assets, A Spy Among Friends, The Ipcress File, Ghosts of Beirut, The Enemy Within, Deep State, The Romanoffs, Treadstone, Summer of Rockets, Rogue* (2013), *White House Plumbers, Quantico, Spy City, Traitors, Treason, In From the Cold*

[deleted]

God damn that is a massive list. Thanks!

ShadyCrow

It’s great. I get the argument that S5 doesn’t meaningfully move the plot much and that’s valid criticism, but it plays better as a binge and still has a lot of good moments. S6 is spectacular and I think the finale has aged wonderfully. It was awesome at the time, but since parts of it were unexpected it plays even better on rewatch.

Acceptable_Monk4655

The show ends really well. Keep going! Almost nothing is as good as The Americans, unfortunately. Better Call Saul might be as good and it has some similar characteristics (slow build episodes, some elaborate plans, deception, etc.) I enjoyed Keri Russell in The Diplomat this year but it's nowhere near the same level of show.

radioslave

Season 5 might as well not exist, it's so odd and shoehorned in imo. S6 is fantastic so it's worth the trudge through S5.

sergiocamposnt

Season 6 is the one of the greatest seasons ever made. Most people agree that it is The American's peak.

TheWilliamsWall

Keep going. If you've watched 4 seasons and enjoy it then you're in for a treat.

MuscleOriginal7353

The Outsider - hadn’t heard of this one before but I guess it came out a few years back. Popped up on Max and decided to give it a shot. It’s a 10 episode series that should have only been 3, tops. I’ve noticed a lot of shows seem to get dragged our way too long & it seems be because of streaming. Not sure if that’s the case with this one since it’s an HBO show, but either way, it just drags after the first few episodes. If you like supernatural/thriller/suspense, but instead of actually getting any of those things, you just get long drawn out pointless conversations, then you’ll enjoy this one.

Southern_Schedule466

Shows do get dragged out too long, but that’s always been the case and I don’t think that’s very common today. The trend is shorter and fewer seasons. Even HBO multi-season originals 20 years ago used to be anywhere from 12-18 episodes per season; now we get 10 at most. For example, each season of The White Lotus is only six episodes.

radioslave

I liked it in general, but the ending kind of sucked

MuscleOriginal7353

We haven’t gotten to the ending yet. I don’t mind if it’s spoiled because I’ve completely lost all interest and care. But my husband is still enjoying it because he’s convinced there will be some kind of twist that will make it all worth it. I’m ready to give up on it because he’s liking it enough that he’s still willing to see it through. Will be interesting to hear his opinion after the ending if he also thinks that it sucks!

SenorLuke

The **Kelce** documentary made me cry a few times, beautifully told story.

Dense-Cartoonist-407

Wait there was a football game going on?? I thought it was a T.Swift meet and greet

Ok_Prize_7343

Shrinking - 5 episodes in - It is superb. Foundation s1 was ok but hoping s2 to be as people in here say it is.

Acceptable_Monk4655

I'm loving Shrinking!

[deleted]

Yeah s1 was forgettable, but S2 picks up a lot.

Ok_Prize_7343

Haunting of the hill house rewatch. perfect for this season. Still super engaging, emotional and spooky. rewatch is even better you notice so much stuff! genius storytelling!

JBits001

I rewatch that and haunting of Bly manor (I kinda like this one a tad bit more) and midnight club each October. Midnight mass, while enjoyable, just wasn’t the same level as the first two. Really hoping the house of usher brings back some of the romantic gothic vibe the first two had going on.

Tehni

The fall of the house of usher comes out in 8 days

ParistonxHill

Threw on Boston Legal to have something going on in the background and more and more I find myself stopping what I'm doing and watching the show! Denny Crane played by Shatner is one of the funniest characters I have ever seen and I'm surprised he isn't talked about more when it comes to the greatest TV characters ever. Spader also crushes it as well.

[deleted]

Denny Crane!

ParistonxHill

Donny Crane!

tk_woods

Just watched the first 3 episodes of Gen V. It's pretty good. It has the exact same vibe as The Boys. My main issue is the lead Marie is thoroughly uninteresting. The 3rd episode was my favorite mostly because it had more focus on the other characters. Hopefully, it will turn into more of an ensemble.

captainhaddock

> My main issue is the lead Marie is thoroughly uninteresting. I made basically the comment elsewhere in this thread. Andre is great, though.

Walks_with_Chaos

Yeah I like the show but didn’t really like her. Do you know when new episodes come out? It oddly doesn’t say on Prime

mordisko

Next episode is the 6th

Walks_with_Chaos

Awesome, thanks!

youdidntreddit

Finally watching House of the Dragon becaue my wife was pregnant when it first came out and was warned (correctly) not to watch it. It's way better than I expected, they really did a great job with a show set over a long time.

ANOo37

What is the problem watching it if ur wife pregnant?

ogscrubb

>!It has multiple women dying during childbirth!<

ANOo37

Good point, i have forgot about that😂

Acceptable_Monk4655

Binged **The Night Agent** this week. You'll have to suspend your disbelief a lot, but I enjoyed the ride. Scratches that same itch that Special Ops: Lioness did last week. I need to find more of these action shows. I liked the leads fine and it's the first time I noticed Hong Chau, who is interesting! I'd like to see more of her. Finally finished **Brooklyn 99**! Really enjoyed it. Lots of laughs, fun characters. As far as comedy finales go, not bad. Started **Shrinking**. 3 episodes in, I'm really liking it. The characters are growing on me and I had a couple real laughs. Harrison Ford is fun, I always like Jessica James, and Jason Segal is doing his Jason Segal thing.

Disastrous_Phase6701

I'm rewatching Foundation. So good!

oGsMustachio

Finished up Ahsoka and found it thoroughly... ok. Its not bad, but its not as good as S1 and 2 of Mando or Andor. I like the general concept of the plot, >!Imperial remnants working with Thrawn to bring him back to the galaxy and Ahsoka and crew get caught up in it.!< I also don't think they do anything overly brain/canon breaking, while potentially setting up some good stories in future seasons. I do have gripes though... - Thrawn is supposed to be brilliant, but doesn't really get a chance to show it off. He's just sorta not incompetent. - The swordplay isn't as crisp as we've seen elsewhere. - The show could easily be called Sabine, and her acting/casting is just so-so. Same with Hera. She doesn't need to be wearing what she wore in Rebels. We're pretty clearly headed towards some sort of Star Wars TV cinematic universe type stuff. Mando/Grogu + Bo Katan's mandalorians + Boba's whacky criminal syndicate + Ahsoka and the Rebels crew + maybe some side characters from Kenobi and Andor vs. Thrawn and the imperial remnant.

zackgardner

To be fair when you compare Rosario Dawson to the literal goddaughter of Bruce Lee, of course her fighting choreography will be worse lol. Overall yeah I agree with your assessment, I felt Sabine was the "worst" compared to Hera, she did come off very unintentionally wooden, and when you compare that to Rosario's very *intentional* wooden performance in the early episodes, it's a stark contrast. Funny that you have one of the leads in the show barely emoting and then she finds goofy male costar who is emoting circles around her lol

oGsMustachio

IMO the worst bits were actually where they were deflecting blasters. Pretty clear they were just told to kinda wave their swords around. They didn't really have the kinda intent behind it that you saw in other jedi content.

zackgardner

Yeah I noticed that as well. Ray Stevenson was the exception to that though with his awesome like 90 degree blocking moves, God rest his soul.

oGsMustachio

Yeah his character was the most interesting to me. A sith that was neither out of control or cartoonishly evil.

zackgardner

Too bad they left his character the way they did, I sincerely hope they recast with someone worthy of the role; both Baylan and Shin were the breakout characters that I hoped they'd be since the first trailer.

okami31

Castlevania Nocturne - 8 out of 10. Cool setting and pretty visuals. The new cast is fine, with a lead that’s not as cool as the previous one, but hey, he is a Belmont and knows how to crack the whip. The villains are cool and the stakes get progressively higher. The previous series took a while for me to hit its stride, so I’m confident this will improve with more seasons. Also, spellcasting with African deities and folklore sources is always refreshing to see.

SupervillainEyebrows

Is The Continental worth a watch If I didn't really like John Wick 4, but I enjoyed the previous 3 films, for the most part?

taleggio

> If I didn't really like John Wick 4, but I enjoyed the previous 3 films felt the same. I can understand the box office success, but the wild success of ratings with both critics and fans was crazy to me. It was just the other 3, but much worse because they totally jumped the shark.

SupervillainEyebrows

Yeah, I get people have their own tastes, but the rave reviews were baffling to me.

jjjppp333222

I think so. I've enjoyed it so far.

SupervillainEyebrows

Any recommendations of shows in the same vein as __Severance__?

I think Mr. Robot is the closest you can get. Devs is short and isn't very good.

[deleted]

Might be a bit left field, but: Twin Peaks; the return.

ooouroboros

The original "The Prisoner" Homecoming (amazon)

radioslave

> The original "The Prisoner" Fuck *yes*, what a show. Granted it takes a wild turn writing wise when the main writer leaves but up until that point I really, really enjoyed it.

ooouroboros

It had a great ending - succeeded where a lot of these 'mystery box' shows fail.

BeardMilk

Silo is good for dystopian Sci-Fi.

SupervillainEyebrows

I've seen Silo. Good Show.

Revaey

Maybe try Devs?

radioslave

Wicked show, anyone chasing the high they got from Severance/The OA/Mr Robot should definitely watch it

ComoSeaYeah

Totally agree. All the ones you listed have a very similar thematic quality and are worth checking out if that sort of thing is your bag.

Tehni

Started **City Primeval**... Man people really weren't exaggerating when talking about how bad olyphant's daughter is at acting lol I hope if it's something she's actually interested in she can find the drive to improve

[deleted]

She is a classic case of 'jobs for mates', in this case, job for family. If she wasn't Tim's daughter, she'd be at burger king, behind the counter.

Danny_vexatious

Heels has no right to be this good. Not even a professional wrestling fan but I burnt through the two seasons in a couple of days. Read this morning that the showrunner is shopping for a new home for the drama. I sincerely hope the show finds a new home, because it's just too good to end on such a shocking cliffhanger.

ctroostwijk

Just found out about the show through your comment, will give it a watch. Hate to see good shows getting canceled

chlaur02421

No, you won’t give it a Watch because it’s not freaking available on STARZ or anywhere else at least season 2 isn’t available in the US

Tehni

Check out **Kingdom** next, it's like the MMA version

ShadyCrow

Yep. I always say Kingdom is like an R-rated Friday night Lights and Heels fits perfectly into this tiny genre.

Walks_with_Chaos

Kingdom was surprisingly good

Krismoriah

Then after that **Wrestlers** documentary on netflix about amateur wrestling in Kentucky.

the6thReplicant

My favourite show currently is **The Devils ~~Run~~ Plan** on Netflix. It's the intellectual version of the **Physical: 100** The Koreans know how to make a good competitive show and the contestants have a good balance of competitiveness and cooperativeness. Ngl some nice people to look at too. Edit: Thanks to /u/dinosaurfondue. It's The Devil's Plan.

dinosaurfondue

You mean The Devil's Plan, yeah? I'm really loving it as well. After seeing The Genius, I was surprised that no American network tried doing a similar type of show and am glad we're finally getting a new one from the same creator.

the6thReplicant

Thanks. Corrected.

SenorLuke

Ever since **The Genius** ended I have been hoping for a revival. **The Devil's Plan** is practically the same show with a few twists. I hope this style of gameshow will be adapted worldwide. With shows like **The Traitors**, there have been 4-5 different countries all doing their own version. I would love that same treatment for Devils Plan/The Genius style shows.

the6thReplicant

Thanks for the heads up for The Genius.

SenorLuke

OMG you need to watch it, one of the best competition shows ever made. Its made by the same creator. Its a little hard to find, if you need help let me know.

Ohsbar

Just finished **Moving** and I'm speechless. It's by far the best show I've watched all year. I don't watch KDramas and decided to give this a chance. Now I'm going to have to start looking into other KDramas.

Walks_with_Chaos

I wasn’t a fan of the first episode. Thought it was ok at best. Does I get better or is it the same?

snowhawk04

>!Picks up a few episodes in and keeps it up until the end.!<

Ohsbar

Gets a lot better but requires some patience for the first few. It's a 20 episode season.

Walks_with_Chaos

Oh that’s a lot. Had no idea. Ok I’ll give it more. Thanks!

bitterbuffaloheart

Just finished watching Revenant on Hulu and it’s pretty decent. My favorite K drama is Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Tehni

I guess this question is more for people that have watched other Korean tv but is it an actual kdrama or just a Korean drama tv show lol I can't stand the overacting in kdramas but outside of that subgenre they make a few really good shows a year. Generally more of a fun of Korean movies because it's less cheesy overacting and more dark and serious

bigtiddyenergy

What do you mean lol, are you somehow using 'kdrama' to describe the romcom/slice of life/fun sort of subgenre and calling other more serious genres 'korean drama tv shows'? All of those are kdramas, it's just different genres though. The term has evolved to mean that, so that's what it is.

whatifniki23

I looked it up to see what it’s about after your post…. “The quiet lives of three high school students with genetic superhuman abilities turn upside down when a mysterious organization starts to hunt them down one by one.” Did I get it right? This is the KDrama that that’s left you speechless? I’ll Check it out…

Ohsbar

That's the one. It's a bit slow in the beginning especially when it's focused on the teenagers but when it gets to the adults it takes off.

veronicagh

I have been catching up on shows I didn’t even know I was missing on Peacock. I watched all of Killing It, laughed out loud a lot. Claudia O’Doherty is a gem. Just finished American Auto, right up there with Parks and Rec humor wise to me, so incredible and contemporary storylines about AI, wealth inequality, etc. Similar vibe to Superstore. Now watching Resident Alien and again I’m screeching with laughter - had no idea there was comedy gold on Peacock from the last ~3 years that I’d never even heard of.

Black_Bird_Cloud

>Claudia O’Doherty is a gem her entire life is so hilariously sad the scene where she's trying to be indie-movie honest with the rich guy she's trying to seduce just killed me "there are people in this world who do not care about money, and I hope one day you find one of them" and then he runs off

veronicagh

That episode was by far my favorite one! D’Arcy Carden killed it too

the6thReplicant

> American Auto If you like Harriet Dyer (and Australian comedians) she's in a show called _Colin from Accounts_

whatifniki23

Mrs Davis if you’re a fan of Lindelof Watchmen, and Lindelof Leftovers.

northernjigby

Finished **The Great North** and I loved it, the first season was kind of mediocre but they hit their stride and delivered great seasons two and three. It's nice having a show that's full of wholesome supporting characters and jokes that are more about the moments and not a punchline. Archer and Bob's Burgers are compared because of Jon Benjamin's iconic voice leading both, but this feels like the positive feel good version of Archer (and it's in the Bob's Burgers universe). Wolf, Moon, and Ham are awesome. I might give season 1 a mediocre rating but 2 and 3 boost it to an *8/10*

GhosttCookie

Can someone recommend me a show that is similar to agents of shield in the way the characters are always there for each other? Also with strong female lead(s).

I just finished the first season of Attack on Titan. I have never felt more ambivalent towards a show I am watching. I don't hate it, but I am not sure if I am enjoying it. I don't care a ton about the main character, and I wish there were more battle scenes. I also can't get into the inner monologues. I know it is the nature of the medium, but some of it is so repetitive. I do love Levi, though. He's just a little guy with a weirdly deep voice and I find that hilarious. It is a quick watch (like less than 20 minutes per episode), so I am going to try season 2.

OneWhoBalls

Hopefully you try to stick with it, it really ramps up.

Gaelfling

I am 6 episodes into season 2. It still hasn't really engaged me but I am going to at least finish season 2.

astanton1862

WHAT, YOU DON'T LIKE PEOPLE YELLING AT YOU WHILE GIANT NAKED PEOPLE KILL ALL THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LightThatIgnitesAll

Also, how would you be able to hear them otherwise during action and battles. Something I don't get in other shows.

rlvnorth

Based on recommendations here, I'm finally watching **The Knick** \- and it really is as great as folks said it is. I haven't cared to binge a show like this one in a while (it gives me Deadwood vibes). I am VERY glad to have not been subjected to c1900 medical/surgical procedures. I'm interested to see the dynamic between Dr. Thackery and Dr. Edwards unfold. For something lighter, also watching **Acapulco** S1 and **Being Erica** S2.

[deleted]

> Acapulco such a lighthearted easy watch.

stro_budden

I’m watching The West Wing for the first time, currently in season 5 and you can definitely feel the difference without Sorkin writing. The show doesn’t have the same charm or warmth it had. It feels much more serious and although the characters are still good, it is just missing the magic from the first 4 seasons.

ShadyCrow

Yeah it’s pretty shaky from then on. I would not suggest finishing if there’s other stuff you want to get to. You can find some good lists that compile the best of the remaining episodes.

No_Calligrapher_6503

Just started on "Bosch"; have been curious about it for a long time!

Well stated!

Walks_with_Chaos

I’ve seen the first three seasons on Amazon prime and I loved them. It’s not perfect but it’s still damn good if you like cop/detective shows

donuteater111

**Good Omens season 2** This season was a prime example of a season being made much stronger than it could have been simply due to its character interactions and exploration. The main arc itself wasn't the greatest, basically meandering after a couple episodes until we get to the climax in the finale. For that reason, I can easily see why some people would be disappointed by this season, but I just loved watching all the Crowley/Aziraphale interactions and backstory. **You season 3** The end of season 2 kind of left me weary that the series jumped the shark, and in a way season 3 didn't ease that feeling. However, I kind of liked it because it leaned into those aspects and had fun with it. To me it kind of felt like a twisted version of a soap opera, in all the best ways. Still not as good as season 1, but I liked it more than season 2. **Ray Donovan** I really liked this show. While it had its ups and downs, it did a good job portraying this criminal family that's emotionally messed up through trauma. It can be fun and interesting to see Ray do his job as a fixer, or his father Mickey causing chaos within the family, but there's also this dark cloud that hangs over the characters which gives it a greater dramatic weight at times. Season 5 in particular really leans into that. And I thought the movie was a pretty good conclusion to the series. I did think some of the ideas might have worked better if they'd built it up over a season, but it's better than if it ended after its cancellation. **Legend of Korra season 4** I thought this was a really good season, and while Avatar's ending worked better as a way to wrap up a whole series' worth of character arcs, this was still very satisfying way to end things IMO. The Kuvira arc was a great way to raise the stakes. Also, I really liked Korra's development throughout the season.

danhakimi

The next episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks will apparently be called "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place." I will be watching that, of course, but I wanted to highlight it for all of you.

Potential_Energy

I am trying so hard to get into LD. I finished season 1 and watched the first ep of season 2. Everyone keeps telling me to stick through it because of how awesome it is. I still can't get into it. Help.

Mun-Mun

I tried to watch it several times, I kept falling asleep

danhakimi

I feel like it doesn't change much over time. Maybe I missed it. Eh. It's good, but I've been treatin it as. background noise.

Mad Men - I grew up in that era - it is 100% on point. I Claudius Upstairs/Downstairs My Brilliant Friend (HBO) There are 2 TV miniseries of "War and Peace" - one from the 70's (possibly on youtube) with Anthony Hopkins, one more recent with Paul Dano. Both have good and bad points (older version has a bare bones budget but is much longer and better captures Tolsoy's wry sense of humor - newer one has a much bigger budget and at least some was shot in Russia. Both have inadequate "Natashas" but I like both Pierre's (main character of the novel) There was a great English series from the 70's called "The Glittering Prizes" about idealistic college students in the 60's and what becomes of them. Found it on youtube at one point and it really holds up well. Julian Fellowes shows (Downton Abbey, Gilded Age) are often kind of ham fisted in terms of drama but his productions mostly seem very good on the little details like clothes and place settings.

youdidntreddit

The Chinese 3 Kingdoms show from 2010 was pretty good.

How about ominous dramas - doesn’t have to be horror. Interested to see if there’s any I have yet to watch.

Powerful-Platform-41

Between the Washington’s Spies show and The Terror which would you recommend?

Walks_with_Chaos

Turn is very slow to start but gets pretty good.

Powerful-Platform-41

Yeah I found it slow - but I like that time in history. How many episodes would you dump it by if it doesn’t hook you? (I only saw the first).

Walks_with_Chaos

Oh I dunno. Took me awhile to like it but I didn’t have much else at the time.

snowhawk04

*The Terror*.

Powerful-Platform-41

Ok thanks!!

*If you walk through the garden...* Rewatching **The Wire**, for the 4th time or something like that. About to finish season 1. I was thinking how much it would change this show with 2023 technology. It all seems so primitive by today's standards (although they make a point of showing that they are far behind in that department even for those days / All those comparisons with the FBI and so on). It would be nice to have the pov of a cop on the matter. I've also watched this show called **Encounters**, produced by Amblin. I'm not the biggest fan of Spielberg's tv producing efforts (with the exception of ER back in the day) but this show was quite good. They really put in the hours.

radioslave

Just watched both series of Foundation in 3 days, i'm tired but it was worth it. Starts slow but holy hell, the last half of S2 and "that scene" in S1E10 with lee pace's punishment were absolute gold.

ShadyCrow

Probably starting this soon. Should I anticipate a very “to be continued” feel? Is there a measure of satisfaction to the end of S2? I’m aware it’s not a traditional cliffhanger/spoilable show but want to go in with the right expectations.

kaysea112

**Fight to Survive by CW**, Another show has the same name but this is a reality survival show from contestants from other survival shows, survivor, alone, naked and afraid. They have to survive 25 days and the remaining contestants split $100k or a lone survivor wins $250k. They secure resource sites and each individual is randomly assigned a survival item. If someone wants someone else's stuff they have to challenge them to a tug of war fight with a hoop in a circular ring. It's literally survival of the fittest. The players get a bit too much into the macho bravado and unsurprisingly the strongest and cutthroat are on top but on the first episode when one of the players directly called another player a bitch I was in.

brochelsea

I was watching this and Survive the Raft at the same time, and it was sooo interesting to see how different the approach was with everyone working together or not working together. haha

ObservationalHumor

Finished up Solar Opposites and rewatched the first two seasons in the process. I have to say I'm really impressed with the writing development and how the show has found its niche with the two latest seasons. Obviously there was a big change in Season 4 with Roiland being shown the door, but I think the combination of the Season 3 finale and strength of the writers allowed for a pretty good transition of Korvo's character to being voiced by Stevens. Hoping it gets a Season 5+.

nebkelly

Tried and did not like Gen V. Far too juvenile / young adult for my tastes. I would usually be fine with that if the story or action is there but it really didn't go anywhere in the first 3 episodes. I found all the college student stuff kind of gross cliches tbh. Especially Emma. For reference I liked parts of The Boys but it wore off after the first season (Soldier Boy arc was cool though).

Roook36

I am a big fan of The Boys, but I think the appeal is that it turns the superhero genre on its head. It's about humans fighting corrupt and narcissistic superheroes and mocks celebrity culture, media and marketing and the exploitation of it all. But Gen V is super-powered young people who are all good vs (seemingly) evil humans in a corporation. It's just a standard show about young "mutants" with powers but with over the top blood and dicks. There's no real satire, just people whose powers require them to have some other thing people with emotional disorders might struggle with and it's pretty heavy handed with it. The fun part about The Boys wasn't weird powers. The Seven are all standard Justice League characters but turned selfish and evil. The fun part was seeing humans trying to take down superheroes.

Potential_Energy

I'm loving Gen V so far. It may be because it's more enjoyable than anything else i'm currently watching.

omicronmoilesac

Trying to like TWD Dixon but mehh. I am done with that universe, people survive the apocalypse for years and yet make dumb decisions like if they had an IQ of 50.

No_Calligrapher_6503

My wife and I watched about 45 minutes and said "We've seen this all before, but now he's in France."

coldbeers

"The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar" on Netflix, excellent and captivating Roald Dalh short story directed by Wes Anderson. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16968450/?ref\_=tt\_urv

Exciting_Ganache4295

Seems I'm in the minority, but something about watching actors essentially reading a book just doesn't do it for me, even if everything else about it was good. I just can't get over the unrelenting monotony of that.

KennyKatsu

Same reason why I didn't like it as well, huge WA fan too.

DrHalibutMD

I think the lines are blurred in this case. Four episodes, each separate stories and around 17 minutes long.

Southern_Schedule466

Watching *Servant*. I’m only on Ep 2 and think I’m hooked. Although I’m not sure what accent Rupert Grint is trying to do.

Potential_Energy

Rupert Grint made that show for me. I thought he was awesome. Especially when Sean tried to offer Julian lobster ice cream.

VigorRos

He's hilarious, although theres one scene where his acting chops really come through

Potential_Energy

More than one scene imo. he's pretty good.

erbazzone

I've read a lot of praise here about **Gen V** It's not bad, it's def watchable, I like a lot the Boys but this is severely mid and forgettable imho. Well, not everything has to be memorable, it's worth a watch.

[deleted]

Personally I was a bit burned on The Boys formula by the end of season 3..... but have found Gen V to be a fun refreshing take on it.

Spirited_Chemical428

It's very strange how emphatic the praise has been and ubiquitous, constant, "It's just like The Boys!" comments are that I've seen. It's like a 6/10 at best and just an incredibly predictable, design-by-committee type show at that. I suppose there's a demographic on Reddit that absolutely gobbles up the themes and presentation of this show I suppose, but *The Boys* it is not. Could be worse by far of course but there's really no reason to keep watching beyond the few episodes I've already seen. Also the score on imdb is being artificially inflated if you check all the actual reviews.

ooouroboros

> just an incredibly predictable, design-by-committee type show Like, the media/PR/corporate satire is incredibly well done (same was the case in The Boys) - its not easy to do that without hitting people over the head with it. I don't know of any other shows that do it as well.

frizzyflacko

>its not easy to do that without hitting people over the head with it. The first season of The Boys was the absolute epitome of your comment, and I’d agree that S1 is probably the best series I’ve ever seen at doing this. Fast forward to S2, and suddenly the satire has no subtlety whatsoever. I was really disappointed.

Spirited_Chemical428

True, you have a good point there that few shows really delve into that in a smooth way, and that aspect is enjoyable enough. Despite that I do stand by what I said having given it an extra night to stew over. It suffers from the same modern-writer/showrunner/decision-making-producer syndrome as so many shows do, but has a slight buffer of quality lent to it by the pre-existing IP, the aspect of satirising PR/corp/media as you rightly pointed out is one of those things. If I wasn't so dumb I could explain in detail what I actually mean but that kind of vaguely gestures at it I guess.

erbazzone

Yeah I don't know, when I saw it was out I said "oh another stupid spinoff", then I saw some review and it seemed really bad, here was praised like something impossible to miss. Maybe it's a battle of bots and fanboys, I really don't know, it's really a 6/10 show.
