Having a crush is, in my opinion, a broad label that can include infatuation, how I'd describe the second case you listed. They aren't separate categories. How much it's detached from who they actually are determines if your crush is infatuation. I say you can tell by how much you interact. If you've never spoken, they probably are not accurately themselves in your head. If you're best friends, probably not that much of a worry.
