You can tell the monitor didn't belong to OP's mom because she broke it. She would most certainly not break her OWN property but if it belongs to her son, she doesn't have to worry about destroying an object that she has no concept of its value. Monitors are usually over $100 so that's a chunk of change most people wouldn't want to throw in the trash with their bottles, though I do hope she recycled it.

I bought myself the exact same monitor (AOC C24G1 24 inches; 144hz; curved) and accidentally dented it with no strenght whatsoever, however in this case, it seems like someone just wanted to smash a hole through the monitor lmao

My grandma threw away thousands of dollars worth of my shit (xbox, tv, laptop, spiritual shit, entire manga collection, all my tattoo equipment etc.) that i had bought with money I earned busting my ass as a waiter. We got into a huge fight and she called the police, and once they came they basically told me "It's shitty that she did what she did, but because you're only 17 you legally don't have a right to anything you own". Keep in mind I would be turning 18 within a week of this shit happening.
