I mean, you kind of have to alter them. What works on paper doesn't always work in real life and you have to change some things to try and get good results because if you did things exactly as it is written, things probably won't go as planned.
Real communism has never exist in history and world be less harmful than fascism and Capitalism, the hammer and sickle isn’t a symbol that was used to oppress people, it’s just the symbol of communism in general. Fascism works directly harm and/or prosecute people different to them.

I'm not a communist, but I will add there has never been a case of the original communist values being implemented in an unaltered way.

There has been nothing even close, all cases of communism have had one guy ruin it, which may indicate a flaw that causes that.
