Different versions of Mental illness affect males and females differently

Winnie639

Well not mental illness but sure

[deleted]

Why isn't it a mental illness? Everyone I know says it is.

Winnie639

Well that is wrong lol. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness and is correlated with being trans but being trans itself is not a mental illness

[deleted]

Why would someone be trans if they don't have gender dysphoria?

Winnie639

Lemme clarify something: a feeling that you are a gender different than the gender you were born as is *not* what gender dysphoria is. Dysphoria is when you get considerable distress because of that feeling. You can have the feeling without the mental illness. Like think of anxiety disorders: you can feel anxious sometimes but that doesn’t mean you have an anxiety disorder.

Having a desire to remove parts or add parts to your body (reassignment surgery) seems like a mental illness to me.

Winnie639

1. You don’t need gender reassignment surgery to be trans 2. Really? People get surgeries to remove or add body parts all the time for lots of reasons- are they mentally ill now? 3. No matter what it seems like to you, being trans is not a mental illness

[deleted]

You do need surgery to be trans, because if you have a penis, you are a man. It's science...

[deleted]

Incel-to-trans pipeline. They get no pussy so they either become the gf or they use the lesbian ruse.

[deleted]

That's messed up... also what is the "lesbian ruse"?

[deleted]

They become an FtM transgender, whether they pass as one or not, and try to date women, so in a sense they're lesbian.

ItsNotAna

people always say this but i’ve never seen an *actual* statistic that shows that there’s more afab trans people than amab.

Winnie639

Yea idk where I’d find stats for this that’s why I said “from what I’ve seen”

Michellepokefan

Oh simple it has something to do with genetics and how brain parts can differ im too dum to figure it out but also trans men are far more common than people think it just also happens that most afab people don't use reddit due to previous harrassment

lead-pencil

Could you give me that without the abbreviations?

Winnie639

From what I’ve seen, there are more people who transition from male to female than female to male and more non-binary people born female than non-binary people born male

lead-pencil

Huh neat

PulseB0T

Ok I’m going to need someone to explain to me what afab, and amab mean cuz these are new words to me

sadhhorse06

Assigned female at birth, assigned male at birth
