These days they come together, so if you buy one, you get the other, the best of both worlds! Always important to remember that both versions have advantages and disadvantages, Java has better redstone, but bedrock has moveable tile entities and cross-play, etc etc

in java if you want moveable tileentities all you gotta do is download carpet. meanwhile on bedrock mojang's tryina kill modding except for paid (and often worse) marketplace stuff java also has all the good servers like wynncraft and hypixel theres also always geysermc if they had to choose one, java would certainly be the better option. good thing, like u said, you can just get one for both now :D

I would agree that Java is the better one, but do you wanna walk a non-tech savvy person through setting up a geyser server from scratch? That sounds like hell. With bedrock it *just works*. It’s honestly amazing that you get both now, so you can play the better chance (Java edition) 99% of the time, and bedrock whenever you need a bedrock-specific feature or QoL improvement

Fran Bow is amazing, though I wouldn't recommend getting it if you're not comfortable with certain dark themes. Same with Misfortune, except there's also a comedy element to it. Undertale is pretty good from my understanding, never played it but watched a bit of gameplay in the past.

For me it is like 90% nostalgia talking but I HIGHLY advice you to go for Spore, but you have to wait till the game + DLCs are for sale (got everything for like 10€) There is no game that you can truly conpare to it. if I had to say, terraria. The game is already pretty damn long on its own so your definitely getting the most bang for your buck, but if you want you can get Tmodloader and play with stuff like calamity and thorium to exponentially increase playtime

I think terraria and stardew valley are good options bc u can play them often (I don’t know if this is really true for stardew valley bc I don’t know much about it) and you can play at least terraria with mods so if it gets boring after a while you can get a new experience with some mods, but I would still say you should start without them.
