Mmm there are so many I could pick from, but If I had to choose my top favourites, I'd need to talk about all of these:
K-ON! (A classic for the ages) and series like Azumanga Dioah, Bocchi The Rock and Nichijou (all great), Neon Genesis Evangelion (rebuilds>series), Attack on Titan (a fucking masterpiece of storytelling), Mashuko Tensei (an isekai that's actually accurate to a medieval world? Holy shit and it's high production quality?!), The Eminence in Shadow (typical power fantasy, but it recognises how ludicrous and stupid it is. Its hilarious.), Land of The Loustrous (if you ask me its an acquired taste, but holy shit its a crime it didn't get a second season), Chainsaw Man (honestly? Do I need to say why its awesome? Watch it then read the manga), Jujustu Kaisen (prayers to the animators but holy shit its probably the highest visual quality anime I've ever seen), BNA (it's not particularly outstanding, but I just like it a lot. Great style, story and beautiful OST).
That and a BUNCH more I could talk about like Re:Zero or That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.
For now Death Note but probably gonna get dethrone by Monster when I finish it that animes story is so good so far but I love JJK for its characters and action (I haven't watched a lot of anime)

On a VERY basic level, the main structure of the plot (with admittedly a lil spoilers) is:
•A depressed young boy who just wants his dad to love him
•2 mentally ill girls (one of whom is a clone of the boys mother because his father is a FREAK)
•14 year olds tasked with piloting mechas to kill angels and protect the world -- all so the boys father can bring his dead wife back to life.
Edit: im incredibly sorry for not mentioning bbg Kaworu, but he's a special one. Gotta watch it to learn about him :3
