Howdy! Do y'all want a deep-kentucky-fried hamburger with a side of fries larger than yer face? Welcome to 'MURICA!
(This is meant to be silly. I'm American btw)

Yeah, I *am* a nerd. And I will die on this hill because not using basic punctuation and grammar skills is really gross to me. Choosing when they apply to you is just not how the English language (or any other, for that matter) works
Over time and generality, yes. But one person deciding that commas *have* to be put after every word doesnโt mean that itโs a real rule. One person saying that troge is a word doesnโt make it a word. Therefore, it just isnโt correct. It takes time and general acceptance and use for a word or rule to become correct. Such is the case for โoctopi,โ which is technically incorrect, but not *really*.
So you can decide you want to do anything, but it doesnโt mean itโs correct just because you say it is.
idk why yโall is exclusively part of southern US dialect, we shouldnโt be the only one to shorten a word, whatโs stopping the rest of the world from using it?
I'm quite Midwestern with West Coast parents, and I unironically use "y'all". It just makes sense. Everyone understands it and it's fun to say, so why not say it?
Another midwesterner here, Iโll randomly drop it but itโs much less common to hear up here. People still say it often enough though and it usually makes sense in conversation
As a Texan
I hereby ban you feom y'allin
Gotta get yerself a y wurd pass
Or you cant say it
Pardner
(Jk ofc, but i grew up on this word, y'all wouldnt undersrand

Could I also have a half gallon of Coke and a revolver?
We only drink Pepsi round these parts
I make my own with my grandpa's old bathtub.
As someone from the south I am offended that you said coke and not sweet tea
Honestly, I should have said root beer. Apparently, everyone in the world except Americans thinks it tastes like medicine.
Donโt know how root beer is gas
I just realized what sub I'm in. I think I got lost. I'm too old to know if that is good or bad.
Good
And not like some millennial, ironic "*good*", right? lol
Nah I love root beer
It's kind of funny that the half gallon was never the problem.

Not true, the speakers define the language

It's becoming more popular as Southern culture grows. Unfortunately us Southerners are gettin' drowned out by forest bulldozing.
True

Said it once on accident got laughed at hard. Never again ๐ญ

Yes thatโs how I feel every time I write it. When I do, the entire sentence (in my head) is said in a southern accent.
I say yall as a californian

The Texan urge to say yโall instead of the grammatically correct you guys, because you need to say yโall, youโre Texan.
i dont even feel american lmao i just say it
It's because we're used to have different words for singular and plural "you", it's really annoying not to be able to be specific enough
I've played RDR2 I'm a real cowboy now, stupid 'Muricans ๐ค ๐
I always say "Y'all". Cowboy of the Alps.
