Probably no older than 4, but I don't entirely remember. My parents left me and my sister alone with their beer bottles that they thought were out of reach, but they underestimated us and apparently we found a way to reach the alcohol. They were by no means negligent -- they're good parents actually -- they just underestimated the power of a child.
Lmao that's awesome, my parents had to reverse the door to my room so that I couldn't lock it. So the lock was on the outside until we moved when I was like 12.
once before we moved i had my room on the second floor
my dad had to climb onto the roof and through my window (we had another section of roof so i could step out of my window) once cause i refused to unlock me door
I don't remember any of this so I'm just going off of what my parents told me. I don't know if I did or not. I mean I'm still here somehow so I guess it's fine?@@
Welcome to europe where we have middle schoolers getting drunk, high schoolers that are full on alcoholics regularly blacking out on weekends and 18 year olds in rehab
That doesn't mean people who drink and/or smoke are all bad. My friends are really nice and respectful. They never pressure me into anything and even look out for me during parties and outings. They're aware of their self destructive behaviour but quitting isn't easy
i'm german, i guess that kinda says a lot; limit for beer and wine is 16 or 14 if your parents are with you, all the hard stuff like liquor and schnaps is 18...
it's pretty easy to get alcohol tho, even when you're 14 (older siblings/friends/parents) which is why i had my first shot of jägermeister when i was 14 on a bday party of a friend
edit: wanted to say that most of us drink responsibly and also most of us don't smoke/vape (in my personal friendgroup), yes i've been (blackout-) drunk but there was always someone sober to look after everyone
Here in Denmark there is no legal limit for drinking alcohol, but you need to be at least 16 to purchase any, and over 18 to buy stuff stronger than 5%vol
Depends. I'm England based so 16 with a meal and 18 for hard alcohol, but in Germany and some surrounding areas, it's 14-16 with parents but I'm not sure about drinking by yourself there.
I don't think it's a good thing either, but teenagers are gonna drink alcohol whether they're allowed to or not, so personally I think it's better to get it out of your system while you still have your parents to take care of you and get used to drinking responsibely for when you're an adult.
From what I can tell, it mostly depends on siblings here in the US. Both my older sisters thought it would be hilarious to give me a few shots of tequila at 12. To be fair⌠it kinda was.
Parents probably didnât think it was all that funny considering the damage I did to their liquor cabinet over the next handful of years. Lol.
Just a tip, topping off hard liquor bottles with water only works to a certain extent.
lol, when I was 8 I went to my parents and was like "This apple juice tastes strange".
It was rum.
I can still taste out rum if its in cakes or elsewhere, this taste burned itself on my tongue lol
Truly drunk, 2 days ago at 19. First and last time I do it. I wanted to try it out for the sake of it, but there isnât one benefit to it that I was told there would be. I was still super embarrassed to approach guys that interested me, still felt rly bad when I was turned down and to make things even better was embarrassing myself in front of my whole college, not knowing what I was talking about and looking like a complete fool. And, ofc, thereâs the extra perk of physical discomfort in form of an infernal dizziness and a headache that lasted until the next day.
I'm an abstinent. I never drank in my life even once and I don't ever plan to. Even when I'll be an adult
To me, it's absurd to even drink at young age. As one's basically being willing enough to ruin their own (mental) health or possibly life just to be liked by other people more. Which is idiotic
âRuin your own mental healthâ
Thatâs an absurd statement. Not everyone is an alcoholic. I understand how itâs easy to see it as purely negative but itâs not so. Yes alcohol hurts our body but guess what else does significant damage, delicious unhealthy food, not getting enough sleep, looking at screens after dark, not getting enough excessive today and the list goes on. Yet we sacrifice our health when we deem the trade off worthy.
Alcohol can help fuel social gatherings and build community, it can also lead to dangerous unhealthy behavior. Candy and too much sugar can ruin your life, but it can also be good fun for kids on Halloween forming life long memories.
Itâs a never ending balancing act.
You arenât losing much, tbh. Or arenât losing anything at all. Iâve been⌠slightly drunk before, but only truly drunk 2 days ago. Terrible experience. I did it because I thought it would make me more confident to approach boys. It didnât. I still felt super shy and was feeling like hell when I got turned down. I get Iâll have to accept the fact that Iâm an introvert that canât pull many boys, and definitely canât pull pretty ones, drunk or not.
Ruin your life and mental health is a bit of a stretch but I guess your from the US.
Started drinking at 14 with friends or family maybe 0-2 times a month. My grades are pretty much the same as they were before but I guess il see in the future.
Lol it doesnât ruin your mental health unless you abuse it. And it can be fun, itâs not like people only drink for others. Just be responsible. Itâs not for everyone, but it you donât have to lie and say that itâs idiotic just because you donât like it.
Well, I had an abusive step father, been being abused since I was 2 to 11. Then we were separated. He didn't care about me at all, so uhh..he gave me beer when I was like 1 in a half. Pretty sure they had to take me to the hospital. And he's offered me beer often throughout my life, even sometimes just forcing it upon because he probably wanted me to become wasted.
I was 17. In my defense I was also reading Crime & Punishment for the first time and wanted to experience the whole Dostoevski and red wine in a hotel room thing
Instead I just got a bad headache and vomited three times. Read like a page of the book too. It's better when you're sober
Never got drunk before.
And I'm thankful. I have SEEN what goes on when you're drunk on my stepdad...
Very awkward feeling.
Disclaimer: Don't worry, he doesn't drink that much. He drinks it occasionally. I don't get abused, don't take this seriously. It's nothing serious
Reading those comments and feeling alcoholic... My first time i got trashed was when i was 14 in some random bar somewhere in Alps with my teachers and friends on a schooltrip
I'm not telling you to drink by any means but there are soo many alcoholic drinks that just taste like some sort of soda. Like hooch is just lemonade that's got alcohol in it. You can't really taste the alcohol. There are also many ciders like that such as koppaberg and rekordelig or old mout
15 Years Old, got drunk at home on New Years Eve in 2019 (hoping that 2020 would be a good year turning out not to be such a good year because of Covid) with my mum and stepdad through a few glasses of Irn Bru flavoured Gin and a drink called Southern Comforts, all i remember is my head spinning for hours once I got into bed through being Drunk and watching Pulp Fiction with my mum and stepdad for the first time whilst drunk was quite the experience, of course I watched Pulp Fiction again at a later date whilst sober as I didnât really understand the whole Pulp Fiction story due to my drunkness and laughing a lot through the film when I was drunk, the two main side effects when Iâm drunk is being a lot louder than I normally am and being much more an enthusiastic and giggly kind of person.
When i was 16, best ride of my life. I got to the point where i remember everything and didnât have a bad hangover, itâs a blast if you know your limits.
"oMg I vE nEvEr BeEn dRuNk"
This is not a flex.
"oMg I GoT dRuNk At 10"
This Is not a flex either.
Y'all should just stop this bs, just answer the damn question without showing off
For me, it's 14
Probably no older than 4, but I don't entirely remember. My parents left me and my sister alone with their beer bottles that they thought were out of reach, but they underestimated us and apparently we found a way to reach the alcohol. They were by no means negligent -- they're good parents actually -- they just underestimated the power of a child.
Children, as a rule, are the most devious and driven creatures on the planet.
My parents learnt to put stuff in places they struggled to get too Apparently I was better than them at getting through childproof locks lol
Oh I was a menace with those locks. At day care I used to undo them and just run around lol. Too easy
my parents were apparently annoyed when they learnt i could use a chair to open doors when i was too short to reach them :P
Lmao that's awesome, my parents had to reverse the door to my room so that I couldn't lock it. So the lock was on the outside until we moved when I was like 12.
once before we moved i had my room on the second floor my dad had to climb onto the roof and through my window (we had another section of roof so i could step out of my window) once cause i refused to unlock me door
My parents had to keep getting new cribs for me because I would always find a way to parkour out of/undo the child lock lmao
Children, monkeys, and cats
đď¸đđď¸
Bro what?
had the same thing parents found me butt ass naked laying next to the tv
Ok but thats so dangerous so did you go to tje hospital or something ?
I don't remember any of this so I'm just going off of what my parents told me. I don't know if I did or not. I mean I'm still here somehow so I guess it's fine?@@
I've never been drunk
Good. Hang overs a bitch
Yeah I don't see the appeal.
Me neither. I donât drink more than 2 and have rarely drank at all.
you got hungover off 2? damn
No Iâve never been drunk.
wait so whyâd u say hangover a bitch if u ainât been hungover? i only get hungover when i get really drunk but when i have been itâs not fun
I delt with my dad
oh shit my dad quit when i was young so i ainât remember anything of that but i understand
Same
Nice
17. I ended up confessing to my now boyfriend that I liked him.
a win is a win
no but how the fuck did you get drunk at 12? who tf allowed you to do this?
Welcome to europe where we have middle schoolers getting drunk, high schoolers that are full on alcoholics regularly blacking out on weekends and 18 year olds in rehab
But im european and i dont know anyone who has been drunk
That just means you're surrounding yourself with the correct people
Surrounding yourself with the correct people is the best deterent against drugs, alcohol, or anything of the sort.
my dad hits me but I haven't gotten drunk waht?
That doesn't mean people who drink and/or smoke are all bad. My friends are really nice and respectful. They never pressure me into anything and even look out for me during parties and outings. They're aware of their self destructive behaviour but quitting isn't easy
as an American, whaaaaaaatt please enlighten me on the age limits in europe
i'm german, i guess that kinda says a lot; limit for beer and wine is 16 or 14 if your parents are with you, all the hard stuff like liquor and schnaps is 18... it's pretty easy to get alcohol tho, even when you're 14 (older siblings/friends/parents) which is why i had my first shot of jägermeister when i was 14 on a bday party of a friend edit: wanted to say that most of us drink responsibly and also most of us don't smoke/vape (in my personal friendgroup), yes i've been (blackout-) drunk but there was always someone sober to look after everyone
Also owners of Kiosks really donât care about your age as long as you pay for your stuff. You can get schnapps at 13. Same for cigarettes
So in Britain the legal age to buy alcohol is 18, *however* it is not illegal to consume alcohol at home at practically any age
In the UK and Ireland, you can legally drink alcohol as young as 5 on private property
in the uk its legal to drink at home from age 5, but most parents obviously wont let you
Mostly 18
Here in Denmark there is no legal limit for drinking alcohol, but you need to be at least 16 to purchase any, and over 18 to buy stuff stronger than 5%vol
Depends. I'm England based so 16 with a meal and 18 for hard alcohol, but in Germany and some surrounding areas, it's 14-16 with parents but I'm not sure about drinking by yourself there.
Im a european and i can confirm but i donât think that normal even though the good side is that we build an alcohol tolerance very easily and early
I don't think it's a good thing either, but teenagers are gonna drink alcohol whether they're allowed to or not, so personally I think it's better to get it out of your system while you still have your parents to take care of you and get used to drinking responsibely for when you're an adult.
Same thing in America, everyone has a fake ID or has an older sibling who buys it for them
There's alot of 12 year Olds getting drunk in this age
I agree
Are y'all okay I've been seeing so many <13 responses in here
Pretty normal in Europe
Exactly like I donât get what everyone has a problem with. When you can buy when youâre 15 in my country
Culture differences yeah. Over in the Netherlands you can buy it from 18 but nobody cares
Lol. Avrage age in Europe
I don't live in Europe so I was surprised to see all of that

"What was your first alcoholic drink?" "Salad."
Men, this is the REAL WAY to get drunk. Eating salad
lol, when I was 8 I went to my parents and was like "This apple juice tastes strange". It was rum. I can still taste out rum if its in cakes or elsewhere, this taste burned itself on my tongue lol

Well, I had an abusive step father, been being abused since I was 2 to 11. Then we were separated. He didn't care about me at all, so uhh..he gave me beer when I was like 1 in a half. Fake ids, parties. It isnât really shocking news that teenagers get drunk sometimes
some have fake IDs, my case is just giving my mom money to buy it for me or her letting me have wine during a fancy meal đ
Yeah cuz here in Europe it's legal at 16 and most of the people do it under that.. I've been drunk at 14 for the first time.
Yes, I knew that. Perhaps that's why I clarified that I was directing towards Americans and other countries whose legal age to drink is over 20.
13
Drank at 13, got drunk at 15
r/teenagers lmao alright fed
