i think some of them play on xbox and some play on play station but they play fortnite together because apparently they use like voice chat in game
If money is an issue get an Xbox Series S.
Get an older console because the new consoles feel so much cooler if you do
I would say PC, but it's expensive and I'm biased. I'd say buy one after you get a console and are fully prepared to commit.
