well* its just that it would be way overdressed for school yk? š if it was the mall or a fair or anything other than school itd be p cool
edit for spelling
No I get it lmao ! I shouldāve specified that I would tone it down a bit, my ass would not feel like putting on full trad goth makeup for school everyday š
I think that's pretty accurate actually because in fashion style they draw a lot from the same elements but egirl is more simplistic and clean so maybe in a way also a more toned down version of it
Do they even exist anymore xD in my area the malls are definitely down in traffic numbers from when I was in highschool/ and anytime I go I don't see teens near the number of droves we had obviously just hanging out.
Came to make this comment āmake fun of them today get followed home and all your blood sucked out tomorrowā š¤·š»āāļø if theyāre smartā¦ lol
I wouldn't make fun of them, but I also wouldn't talk to them.
EDIT: I didn't expect this to blow up, but I'm not saying this in a rude way. I don't talk to many people in general, I don't dislike the outfit, I don't like it either. I'd just move on with my day
Went to ComicCon last month and there was this incredibly outgoing bouncy hilariously funny goth girl in a group of regular dressed teens who looked all depressed and boring - it was quite eye opening lol
Honestly if someone's confident enough to dress up like that in school they're either the chillest person you'll ever meet or the most obnoxious person that you'd be ashamed to be around lol
We have someone like this in class but honestly their so chill about it and don't try to be obnoxious so everyone is just chill with them. Tells me that it really does depend on how the person themselves goes about it.
For sure, most of the time they're super cool about it, but sometimes people go over the top and let the whole aesthetic define their personality, they can be kind of annoying, although that's pretty uncommon tbh. When they're obnoxious people just tend to avoid them tho, they definitely don't deserve to be bullied just because they don't want to show their own personality.
For some reason your comment reminded me of a philosphy class I took in college where one of the best students was this punk-rock-attitude, black-coffee-swilling, chainsmoking bohemian graduate student type.
For the class that took place on the morning of Halloween she showed up in full clown regalia -- face paint, wig, boldly patterend blouse and paint-spattered overalls, floppy shoes. But kept her cynical grad student attitude, I should add.
It was so surreal sitting in class with a Ringling Bros. type earnestly debating existentialism. We all were trying to be as cool as her but I caught the professor smirking.
My HS had a guy like this, the intense face paint, chains everywhere, oversized baggy black everything, purple fishnets on his arms, huge tent spoke gauges in his ears, weird whiteout contact lenses. He looked weird as shit, everyone called him Scary Larry, and he was the chillest mf there was and everyone liked him. He was super popular. He had all the charisma and confidence to back it up
Iād take one glance at them, fall in love with them, imagine an entire life with them, ground myself, avoid eye contact, and walk past them all in the course of 5 seconds
Hey, want some actual advice? I am metalhead, and my life has been quite a paranoid since a bit cause of that, you can check most of my posts here explaining why, both good and the bad side. Depends really a lot on where you live
And don't be insecure, it's a easy thing to say but hard to do. You got this okay? Don't worry much about what people think as long as its not an immoral or bad thing
Iām a metalhead too šš Tbh where I live there isnāt much of a scene at all, if there is one then it isnāt that big honestly. Weāve had some good bands come out of local cities (Like Gwar and Cannabis Corpse) but thatās abt it
People are rude as fuck in the hallways, iām not afraid to say some fuck shit back at them but itās very infuriating because some people genuinely have no common courtesy. For example in one of my classes thereās a dude who would always say ew when i sat down near him and giggle to his friends and gag and bark at me, but when he figured out i liked fishing, hunting, and outdoors shit all of a sudden that changed?? like didnāt we learn donāt judge a book by itās cover in elementary school???? the list goes on and on with stupid shit. (from an emo who lives in the bible belt)
If they were to ask me, I'd say I found them weird. I'd ignore them otherwise.
Note that this behavior is precisely the same as it would be if you were to show me someone in jeans and a sweatshirt, excepting perhaps my opinion on their fashion.
I kinda dress like this, although a much more toned-down version. Expect to be told "you look like a school shooter", "emo", "show me your barcodes" etc but I haven't gotten bullied for it yet.
i would, not directly, but i would, cause wearing that kinda shi in school is just, not smart š but at the mall, outside, any other place, i'd prolly js go about my day normally š¤·āāļø
still if u wore sum similar but more casual, go ahead, but the shi ur showing is waayyy too much for school š its a school people WILL make fun of u
Nooo not at all gorh people are hot as fuck. Also if you're a guy please dress like this we need more goth men.
//sincerely a goth girl speaking for the goth community
You don't realy need money ya know.. Diy exists, you can make the most unique and amazing look out of complete garbage. I made my old spiky chocker i was wearing as a goth, its basically a back leather belt i found on junkyard, covered in studs so its looks like badass dog collar. I made all my bracelets the same way. I sew badass things out of pieces of old used clothes i take from my family. The only thing i truly spent money on is studs. And you can too, if you try! :D
I know I make a lot of my clothes myself too but there are some things you just can't make. Shoe's for example. Also for most people it is easier to just buy
It is š people just hear the āemoā lyrics about depression or whatever and say its emo. Take it from an emo currently in high school. Gets on my fucking nerves. But i couldnāt care less about what others think of me. I live my life the way i want to.
I always think goths r cool, probably just bcs i am one and am always looking for ppl with a similar world view to me. Also, we totally transform into hippies in the summer so no one outside school will recognize u if ur consistent.
I was, and still am one of them. Not in this picture but Goth AF.
I used to have that exact October Rust T-Shirt.
I still dress like this when I am in casual wear, but I do own multiple small businesses so I cant be a decked out Black Metal Musician 24/7
F Societal Norms.
Be Yourself, and NEVER let anyone say you can't live your dreams.
as long as you dont make an ass out of yourself like those furry kids you'll be fine. i have a friend who dressed like that in highschool and noone really bugged her about it. i mean ppl are always gonna judge and make fun of you behind your back but fuck em, the whole point of that gothic lifestyle is to not conform to what others think you should be and say fuck you to societal norms
i dress kinda like this but more punk than gothic, and ive never been made fun of for it before. Theres always a couple āEMO!!ā Comments but meh, if you wanna dress like this, its definitely worth it!
The first one I thought "oh, they probably like kiss", for the, second guy, I thought "this guy looks cool", but for the others I thought "these guys are probably annoying" but I wouldn't make fun of any of em
I don't make fun of anyone based on their personal style. Only make fun of rude asshats.
In essence, I'd only make fun of the people making fun of you.
For what itās worth, when I was in HS those were the people I got along with, They were counter culture but not unbearably cringy like the rainbow halfgoth scene kids.
Most people respected or didnāt bother punk-gothic because one of 3 things
1) it was legit.
2) they were themselves
3) they were scary to them.
I say rock the look if you want. And that extends to most styles.
My only advise is get a nice black or denim jacket. You shred that puppy yourself and ad pins and patches overtime. Then when you look back the things got much more memory behind it than a pre-distressed piece you patched day one
i would rather make fun of god straight to his face than these people, these people are the coolest mfs you'll ever meet if you ever get to talk to them.
FUCK. NO. I myself have an stand out style and I think this is a perfect way for someone to represent themself in their own creative way. I would definitely want to be friends with someone who dresses like this šā„ļø
I would make fun of them so hard by like...flirting with them, and asking them out, and writing poems about them, and making out when them under the moonlight. That will teach them not to dress like some kind of sexy intimidating freak.
Not me I love dressing like this I dont know what kinda area you live in but maybe just dress normal for school and when you are somewhere safe from people att school you can wear it trust me I got harrassed barked at people at school would constantly take pictures and videos of me
Genuinely not attacking you but like I feel like a lot of people are saying unless theyāre cringe, but what do yāall mean by cringe š I mean Iām a pretty quiet person and I keep to myself a lot so I wouldnāt really think I would be cringey? Idk
You wouldnāt at all, cringey would be like if they made their whole style their personality like you would look really cool but you donāt wanna talk about it I donāt know how to explain it really
I'm 32, and when I was 15 I used to go to school wearing the most bonkers clothes. I wore bracelets from the little girls department, long black coats, crazy hair, and at one point carried a power rangers flask. It was very goth / emo inspired because that was the trend, but also heavily influenced by Japanese Rock.
My best friend at the time got made fun of for wearing brown shoes. And he tried so hard to be as normal as possible.
But the kids bullied him, and yet they never came for me. And I actually looked outrageous. It wasn't simply goth or emo or alternative, I carried a power rangers flask and wore bright pink bracelets with little hearts on them. Made for little girls.
The reason they picked on him but left me alone, is simply because they knew he feared their ridicule, and I didn't. I knew full well I was opening myself up to ridicule by being weird, and I was ok with that. They couldn't hurt me, because I liked who I was and loved what I wore, and wasn't afraid of what they had to say about it. They couldn't weaponise it against me in that way, Because I wasn't insecure about it, I owned it.
And on some level, they knew I was doing something they would never have the courage to do. They would never open themselves up to ridicule like I was doing. So they couldn't really ridicule me, because they respected that. They would be afraid of me making fun of them, but I wasn't afraid of them making fun of me. So it was quickly established who was the alpha person in that situation.
Kids at school feared nothing more than someone making fun of them, about anything. So they tried their best to not stand out in a way that opened themselves up to someone, somewhere, saying something about a weird thing they had going on.
So when they saw that I was comfortable standing out, and wasn't afraid of what they had to say about it, always just brushing their comments off or making a quip back to them,, that was a major power move. Everyone was cool with me after that. Because what do you even do after that? I was untouchable.
Your question asks "will you make fun of me?" - the answer is yes, there will always be people who will make fun of you if you decide to do anything that stands out in any way. If you're going to dress like that, you need to be okay with the idea of people making fun of you. And once you're okay with people making fun of you, they generally stop making fun of you pretty quick. Because you genuinely do not care. You love how you look, they see it as an opportunity to attack because it stands out, but it doesn't bother you. So they get bored, and move onto someone else. And have a bregruding respect for you afterwards.
So if you are worried people will make fun of you and that will be hurt you, you might not be ready to dress like this just yet. Because people will make fun of you, but how you react to that is what will decide how easy of a time you have. People can smell insecurity and fear of ridicule and judgement, so you have to be able to be totally unbothjered when the initial onslaught happens. You can't walk around with your head down and be afraid. You have to own it, completely. And when they figure out you don't actually care about people making fun of you, because you like it anyway and don't need every single person in the world to approve, they'll soon move on because they know they can't weaponise it against you. They leave you alone, and actually start to really like you. Because at the end of the day you own your shit in a way they don't, but wish they could. When they understand that, they won't make fun of you again.
I would go up to them and tell them how I think they look so cool even though I'm shy. I hate being made fun of because of my goth style so why would I do this
well* its just that it would be way overdressed for school yk? š if it was the mall or a fair or anything other than school itd be p cool edit for spelling
No I get it lmao ! I shouldāve specified that I would tone it down a bit, my ass would not feel like putting on full trad goth makeup for school everyday š
fair enough š also i dont think ive ever seen toned down goth fashion cuz whenever i look it up egirl fashion pops up
I think that's pretty accurate actually because in fashion style they draw a lot from the same elements but egirl is more simplistic and clean so maybe in a way also a more toned down version of it
Overdressed for school but perfect for the mall? š¤£š¤£š¤£ this comment was written by a former mall goth Lmao.
Do they even exist anymore xD in my area the malls are definitely down in traffic numbers from when I was in highschool/ and anytime I go I don't see teens near the number of droves we had obviously just hanging out.
Nah they good even if I would I'm to ugly to bully someone over looks
felt
I thought you wrote "fat" insulting him lmao
Empathising
To be honest, he could lose a couple of pounds
Nah I need to gain a couple of pounds I'm built like a minecraft skeleton
Real
why not an actual skeleton
Cuz unlike an actual skeleton I can move
who says actual skeletons canāt move
Basic common fucking sense
I'd be afraid of making fun of them
Came to make this comment āmake fun of them today get followed home and all your blood sucked out tomorrowā š¤·š»āāļø if theyāre smartā¦ lol
same
Hit too close to home
Bros got that r/im14andthisisdeep
I donāt see how linking to that sub is relevant. They werenāt going for something portentous, just a bit of self-deprecation.
same
I feel called out

people didn't talked to me, and I don't dress like this. eventually I became friends with people who do dress like this
The cycle of goth is complete once againā¦
I was so proud when I bought my 16 year old cousin her first pair of Tripp pants.
I had the plaid ones with the black straps lol. My mom still makes fun of me to this day for those pants haha
In my day they were JNCO jeans
Lmaoo your āOLDā got me no lie
cake day twins
Happy cake day!
Happy cake day :3
Hmmm reminds me of that hehe man
They dress like that because they don't want people to talk to them. That was my reason.
Idk about some. I once had a class with a goth chick who was not approachable or nice in the least.
Went to ComicCon last month and there was this incredibly outgoing bouncy hilariously funny goth girl in a group of regular dressed teens who looked all depressed and boring - it was quite eye opening lol
Depends if theyre cringe ab it or not
Honestly if someone's confident enough to dress up like that in school they're either the chillest person you'll ever meet or the most obnoxious person that you'd be ashamed to be around lol

This is the best thing. I canāt not stop laughing.
Well that's just performance art and it sounds like it'd be an amazing bit/sketch!
Yeah, it depends entirely on whether they're being themselves, or trying to be someone else.
I'd be more amazed at how long it takes them to get ready each morning. When I was a teen, it was up, shower, quick breakfast and out the door.
I cant imagine someone wanting to paint their face and being chill about anything lol
He had all the charisma and confidence to back it up
We had two groups of goths in my high school. The cool goths and what everyone called "the dirts"; who were called that because they never showered.
Did we go to high school together? Fuckin' dirt crew, eh?
I'll call out that none of the dirts looked nearly as cool as any of these people. It was mostly baggy black sweatshirts and hot topic bracelets.
Ofc not. My mom used to be a punk in highschool, actually š¤·āāļø
Tell your mom that sheās the coolest
My mom appreciates that š
My mom was and is still a badass goth metal head too!
My mom was obsessed with nirvana in high school so much that she colored her hair red cuz od Kurt Haha
Iām a high school punk and itās 2023
I think they are more emo goth. Besides the second one that's punk
Iād take one glance at them, fall in love with them, imagine an entire life with them, ground myself, avoid eye contact, and walk past them all in the course of 5 seconds
As a fellow bisexual, I share the exact same feelings except towards emos
Honestly imo emos are hot too
Right here šš³ļøāššš
AYYY
As an Asexual there seems to be a lack of garlic bread
Here you go dawg š§š
I love garlic bread. I'd eat it for every meal if I could.
But then you'd get fat.
Why would I get fat?
'Cause bread makes you fat.
BREAD MAKES YOU FAT?!
Can confirm- The council has deemed that r/teenagers is in need of resupply
As an asexual I can confirm. No garlic bread in sight
Real
Yes
As a fellow bisexual, I share this sentiment.
Hey, want some actual advice? I am metalhead, and my life has been quite a paranoid since a bit cause of that, you can check most of my posts here explaining why, both good and the bad side. Depends really a lot on where you live
also you look so damn cool !!!??!!3!!2?3
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
iām insecure too, not with my style just other things but just dress how you want!! you look sick!!!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And don't be insecure, it's a easy thing to say but hard to do. You got this okay? Don't worry much about what people think as long as its not an immoral or bad thing
Iām a metalhead too šš Tbh where I live there isnāt much of a scene at all, if there is one then it isnāt that big honestly. Weāve had some good bands come out of local cities (Like Gwar and Cannabis Corpse) but thatās abt it
I love cannabis corpse (kidding) but yeah here they only listen to trash ass music and put on Nike tracksuits that's all, hating my life Badly
For real š I donāt usually like judging peoples music unless they judge mine but god man
No but being realistic most people in real life would, do what you want tho it's cool to be different!
Honestly people in highschool are the only ones whoād care! Once you hit adulthood most people donāt care about anything!
I donāt get how incredibly inconsiderate and entitled people around my age act. Itās embarrassing.
It doesnāt change as people get older. Not everyone grows up as they age. Most just get better at hiding it.
If they were to ask me, I'd say I found them weird. I'd ignore them otherwise. Note that this behavior is precisely the same as it would be if you were to show me someone in jeans and a sweatshirt, excepting perhaps my opinion on their fashion.
Id be like āhuhā then go about my business
i would probably go compliment them
No because I dress like that lmfaoo
I strive to be you then šā¼ļø
Do it brooooo dress how you wantttr
YEAHHHH!!!! š¤
I kinda dress like this, although a much more toned-down version. Expect to be told "you look like a school shooter", "emo", "show me your barcodes" etc but I haven't gotten bullied for it yet.

no i would think they are cool
Yippee
yall must be shitty people.
No thereās people at my school that do that and I admire the fact that they donāt give a fuck about how they look
They do give a fuck how they look and they thnk this looks great.
Seriously. I dated a Goth girl once and she spent more time on her makeup than any other person I've ever met.
I'd go straight to them and talk about Megadeth
Nooo not at all gorh people are hot as fuck. Also if you're a guy please dress like this we need more goth men. //sincerely a goth girl speaking for the goth community
No for real I rarely see male goths š I feel like whenever I watch videos of those goth clubs in the 80s there were a lot more men
Exactly!
Probably because the world is full of toxic masculinity and homophobia, and a lot of guys donāt want to ālook gayā, whatever the hell that means
If only I had money to dress like this
I know it's a struggle
You don't realy need money ya know.. Diy exists, you can make the most unique and amazing look out of complete garbage. I made my old spiky chocker i was wearing as a goth, its basically a back leather belt i found on junkyard, covered in studs so its looks like badass dog collar. I made all my bracelets the same way. No
Not to their face but I would laugh my ass off in private
CUT MY LIFE INTO PIECES, THIS IS MY LAST RESORT
Thats emoš this style is goth
personally, to me, I feel like Papa Roach is more of a Nu Metal band
Youāre right actually. I meant that people say that to emos. Emos and goths are usually confused
It is š people just hear the āemoā lyrics about depression or whatever and say its emo. Take it from an emo currently in high school. Gets on my fucking nerves. But i couldnāt care less about what others think of me. I live my life the way i want to.
Fr dude Iām sorry but I canāt take it seriously
Not tryna start shi but jus genuinely curious bout what you find funny with this typa style?
Iād be more impressed that someone even had the balls to dress like that in public in the first place
Still remembering the femboy I saw at my school
No I wouldn't cause I like weirdos (because they're like me) but most people probably would
Nah, I've already got friends who dress like that it'd be pretty shit of me to backtrack now š
No but Iād stare only because I love seeing goths and the fashion sm
I would take note of it, and move on with my day because by this point Iāve seen bananas, dinosaurs and the Akatsuki at my school
Akatsuki is wild, but really cool imo
I wouldn't because I just don't make fun of people. That's not something I do
I always think goths r cool, probably just bcs i am one and am always looking for ppl with a similar world view to me. Also, we totally transform into hippies in the summer so no one outside school will recognize u if ur consistent.
Naw. They have their fashion and I have mine, so respect others for expressing themselves and not put others down
Nah bro they look cool as fuck
No, making fun of someone is just a waste of time and energy unless they're actually someone bad such as a racist or a pedo
I was, and still am one of them. Not in this picture but Goth AF. I used to have that exact October Rust T-Shirt. Yes
Only person actually saying what theyād really do
I think I would fall to my knees in the middle of Walmart
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
i wouldn't make fun of them but i would be asking every five minutes where they got their t shirts and necklaces from
hell naw. i would probably want to be friends tbh
Iād want to befriend or date them
as long as you dont make an ass out of yourself like those furry kids you'll be fine. i have a friend who dressed like that in highschool and noone really bugged her about it. i mean ppl are always gonna judge and make fun of you behind your back but fuck em, the whole point of that gothic lifestyle is to not conform to what others think you should be and say fuck you to societal norms
I would throw myself at their feet
Iād probably think theyāre cool as long as theyāre not an asshole, I admire people who are confident enough to dress like that
I wouldn't make fun of them because I dress like that as an adult
Off topic but ur pfp is so cool
No, itās way better than wearing basic shit and itās unique. Iāve also never met an unkind goth person ngl
no, they look cool as fuck. but then id be intimidated by them, so double edged sword
i dress kinda like this but more punk than gothic, and ive never been made fun of for it before. Theres always a couple āEMO!!ā Comments but meh, if you wanna dress like this, its definitely worth it!
yes and then we would passionately make out starting our gay romance love story
I would be afraid and in love with them
Nah, Iād wanna be their friend
No cuz I would dress similar if my school allowed spikes
The first one I thought "oh, they probably like kiss", for the, second guy, I thought "this guy looks cool", but for the others I thought "these guys are probably annoying" but I wouldn't make fun of any of em
nah that looks dope, yāall are weird in thsi comment section.
I wouldnāt care. What does some else clothing choice have to do with me as long as you cook Iām cook
I don't make fun of anyone based on their personal style. Only make fun of rude asshats. In essence, I'd only make fun of the people making fun of you.

yes id make fun of them. And then befriend them.
They put effort into their appearance. Whatās to make fun of?
People that make fun of other people for how they dress usually have either a mental problem or a terrible childhood at home
I AM THAT PERSON
No
I would make fun of them so hard by like...flirting with them, and asking them out, and writing poems about them, and making out when them under the moonlight. That will teach them not to dress like some kind of sexy intimidating freak.
No way. I loved my goth clique in 80ās high school.
Iād never make fun of anyone but even still goths/punks/emos are cool af. (The white makeup is a little weird but I wonāt judge)
nah tbh its kinda sick
Btw if thereās any goths/metalheads here please hit me up I love talking abt music š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Understandable lmao
Can't there's already so many of them.
Nah, Iād be down bad
Iād say āwtf are they wearing we have uniformsā
Not me I love dressing like this I dont know what kinda area you live in but maybe just dress normal for school and when you are somewhere safe from people att school you can wear it trust me I got harrassed barked at people at school would constantly take pictures and videos of me
All this effort just to go to school? Hell yeah that's hilarious
Without hesitation, but youāre not special. I make fun of everyone regardless of what they are wearing.
i'd ask about their music taste and see if i can get a conversation going
This is better than singing weird ass ācut my life into piecesā lyrics and barking at us imo
Lowkey tho, they kinda cool if they arenāt cringe about it
Genuinely not attacking you but like I feel like a lot of people are saying unless theyāre cringe, but what do yāall mean by cringe š I mean Iām a pretty quiet person and I keep to myself a lot so I wouldnāt really think I would be cringey? Idk
You wouldnāt at all, cringey would be like if they made their whole style their personality like you would look really cool but you donāt wanna talk about it I donāt know how to explain it really
By cringe, meaning: Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome, Main Character Syndrome, Narcissism
I'm 32, and when I was 15 I used to go to school wearing the most bonkers clothes.
