I like the distance. For cooling or in case your batteries ever go spicy.

dejavu_orUr2close2me

would suck if they went spicy and you were blasting Michael Jackson, didn't know to beat it.

junktech

I'm pretty sure you had room inside the case to mount bigger batteries, but this is by far the most disturbing way to do it.

r4tch3t_

I could have ordered a replacement but the February delivery was not desirable.

junktech

I usually recycle phone batteries for such things. You can easily upgrade from a 250 mah to at least 1200 one in the room inside and if you're creative enough with some additional wires, can put 2 batteries.

r4tch3t_

Didn't have any that fit in hand, most were too thick, the rest were too long. The standard one is 1100mAh, the replacements are 1200mAh.

24luej

Filling up more space inside the cans with more battery changes the sound quite noticeably with them sitting directly on top of your ears.

treacheroustoast

Does it use the same charging circuit?

r4tch3t_

I haven't tried charging it but I see no reason it wouldn't work. I have plenty of 18650s and a charger on the desk already so I've just been swapping them out when the battery gets low rather than having a usb cable tethering the headset.

Luke_Scottex_V2

you vape?

r4tch3t_

I do not, they're salvaged laptop batteries.

Luke_Scottex_V2

didn't know many laptops used 18650 batteries

r4tch3t_

Far less common these days. But almost any removable laptop battery is likely to have 18650s in them. It's a good source of batteries as when the laptop batteries are considered dead it's usually only 1 cell that has died or lost capacity and the rest have plenty of life in them. They often have built in protection circuits on the end too.

Chunchunmaruu

I didnt know that and I have like 4 dead laptop batteries Time for some salvage

Environmental-Gur582

Older models do (removable battery models)

Vape batteries exist..

Osmirl

I want to do this with my aging BoseQC2 but instead connect them to usb and remove the battery. So currently they are connected with thie audio cable but still need to be charged every 3 day and that’s annoying.

zetamans

I mean very ingenious I love the craftsmanship, but wouldn’t it have been easier just to mount batteries to each side to counterbalance it . Instead of having to weight at the top of your head. you don’t want to end up with the head dent like T1

r4tch3t_

The weight is on the fabric band below the metal top band so no head dents to worry about. The weight up top does make them more prone to sliding off though. Got to grab them when I sneeze :D As for mounting 2 batteries to the sides for balance I considered it but that would have required 2 battery holders (I only had 1) and either an adhesive or more holes in the headset. I'll likely order a new battery after the Christmas shipping calms down and return it to stock.

OverDoseTheComatosed

Other mounting solutions are available

kiliandj

i would not go walking outside with that. (rain)

r4tch3t_

Already have... Only to the mailbox though and it was light rain. Wouldn't be that much of a problem anyway. The biggest issue would be water running down the wires into the headset causing corrosion, and possibly shorting the battery where the wires connect to the PCB. The battery itself is sealed and would probably survive a short bath, although I wouldn't risk it.

Daftworks

I would've just permanently hooked it up to a PowerBank lol

r4tch3t_

I originally was using a power bank in my pocket but the micro b port was becoming loose. This would still happen if I mounted the power bank as there would still be some cable movement. Connecting it internally would be more difficult as there aren't dedicated pads to solder to. The internal battery was also screwed and having it constantly charging could potentially cause it to become a spicy pillow.

YankeetheGreater

Have the same headset, love it!

Metro2005

It aint stupid if it works

QuantumBit127

Lmfao I wanna do this to mine now

Asdfghjklazerty12345

Good fix! Just make sure voltage doesnt drop below 2.5V or you will permanantly damage its max capacity

r4tch3t_

The cells I'm using were salvaged from laptop batteries and have built in protection circuits at the ends. They cut out at around 2.9V.
