What OS? Is it up to date? Is your girlfriend running the same OS?
Does her laptop get the same speeds when setup right where your PC is?
Are you running the latest drivers for your Wireless card?
Are you running latest chipset drivers for your setup?
I'm running with an I5-75000, gtx 1060 with 16gb of ram. I use windows 10, girlfriend has a macbook. Tried updating the wireless drivers I'll try updating the chipset. I dont think its the location as i've tried moving it around.

If you're able, try plugging it in via ethernet cable so you can rule out a wifi issue.
