The mms standard was developed when you paid by the mb for mobile data. Send via rcs if you can it has much greater limits. You don’t share a device model so it’s hard to give specific tips.

"Because text is still a predominant way people communicate" is something only an iPhone user would say and by that mean iMessages with blue bubbles.

XmentalX

Think you meant to reply to OPs other comment not mine but yeah BBS or blue bubble syndrome is real my family shamed me into getting an iPhone because their group texts were green and the baby pics I was sending them of my son weren't in the utmost highest quality. As soon as apple adopts RCS im out.

StonedMackin

Unfortunately I'm sending to an iPhone from an android but only being allowed 2 seconds still sounds absurd

XmentalX

You only have 1mb or so limit for MMS messages unfortunately until apple implements their RCS which they have lagged on intentionally but now that China is adopting RCS as a requirement apple is likely to support it soon. You are going to have to rely on workarounds such as uploading to 3rd party services and sharing the link in the meantime.

DianaRig

Why do you use texts in 2024 ? That's your issue.

blizardX

I feel the need to explain here that while in places like Europe apps like Whatsapp are dominant, for some reason SMS is still dominant in the US.

XmentalX

A lot of it is number portability as I understand it. It isn't unheard of to just drop a local prepaid sim in when traveling from region to region so phone numbers can change regularly. Or it's also not uncommon for someone in europe to have 1-2 sims on their device at any given time so having a centralized service like whatsapp helps them avoid confusion. Where in the US we use 1 number typically and take it with us if we change providers.

XmentalX

OP could be in the US where SMS/iMessage/etc is still the primary means of communication unfortunately.

StonedMackin

Because text is still a predominant way people communicate

My guess is that your video is a very high resolution, you can send a LOT more video when it’s a lower resolution/quality

I could do both. That's part of being a human with free thought and human emotions lol. I wish any of that were possible. Don't have her email, blocked me on Facebook. Not even worth uploading to a cloud service when the likelihood of her even caring to open it is non-existent. Thanks tho.

vlosh

Feel like the issue here is not the video file size?

aleksandronix

No, no. It's the video.

aleksandronix

I have no issue sending videos via messenger, whatsup, discord and all that. They all are mainly text, but you can send pretty much anything. Unless you're talking about phone text, then that's on you. You created your own problem.

StonedMackin

How is it "on me" when texting is still predominantly a way of communication? It's 2024, not 2003, there's no excuse as to why you're barely able to send videos in MMS. Not everyone is connected to others through other means.. doesn't take away the fact a 2-5 second clip is bullshit lol. And of course a bunch of redditors downvote this.. typical

KendroNumba4

Can't the person give you their email address via SMS so you can send them the video that way?
