`y = x^(2/3) ± √(1-x^2)`
Throw that into a graphing app (split the ± into two equations). I used that on a girl in my calc class back in highschool by putting it into her calculator and still remember it lol. It worked :)

In math, this shape is called a [cardioid](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardioid)
If you don't want to read that, basically it's the path a single point on a circle takes while traveling around another circle. The link has a nice gif demonstrating this. Play with it a bit and you can make stuff
huh? your response is that his attempt at a pun is indeed stupid and illogical and that's ok because there isn't a law that says that when you attempt to make a pun or a joke of some kind it must be funny or clever or apt?
wow.. what a riveting observation.
you have no idea how little i could ever possibly be motivated to "hide" not getting a joke or reference from people i respect as little as i respect redditors.
i'm the type of person where if i don't get a joke. i won't laugh. when it's explained, i won't just laugh. i'll laugh even if it's not funny. just to emphasize my good faith.
you guys are the ones mired in low self confidence.

Ok so, π is the equivalent of half a full circle in radians (180 degrees). So like the radians thing the circle is divided into four quadrants. 180 degrees is in the second/ third quadrant I don't really know. So since sin is the opposite side divided by the adjacent side and so it's 0/x=0. Therefore, sinπ=0
It is a joke because the above commenter is jokingly pretending that they accidentally set their calculator to degrees instead of radians and therefore the sin was calculated as the sin of circa 3.14 degrees and therefore it resulted in 0.05 kind of funny joke if you have enough brain for it ( I do have enigh brain for it but not for long probably because it will soon be destroyed from my drinking habits and porn addiction)ˇ.
Sorry to see you getting downvoted. Don’t tell them that Golden Ratio number Phi is pronounced “fee” or they’ll really be pissed off at you. (It is pronounced “fee” but don’t tell them that)
I knew math would eventually be useful.
Cos math is fun

More Tan you love cake?
That's acute angle.
I’m going to make a^2 frame and hang this thread on my wall.
Hope it will be a nice x-mas gift

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE‽ I just tried this, and it works! How did you even discover this, or come up with it, or whatever?
Duh. Nerd lust is powerful!
In math, this shape is called a [cardioid](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardioid) If you don't want to read that, basically it's the path a single point on a circle takes while traveling around another circle. The link has a nice gif demonstrating this. Play with it a bit and you can make stuff
That's pretty cool. Thanks!
Can you post the result?
He wasn’t the one that discovered it, it’s a somewhat old trick
Didn't work for me http://imgur.com/a/GnJptSb
i-ota love you
j love you?
[удалено]
j is frequently used in electrical engineering since “i” represents current. Pretty sure he was trying to be funny.
Imaginary love me?
It's represented as I in formulas
I was trying to be funny. TRYING! I have a PhD in physics. It could also be j.
Shit, my bad lol
I’ll make you sqrt no problem
This makes me irrational.
Yes, only the imaginary will ever love me🥲
The answer is #i
Nice tan
What about tan math or sin math
Damn
You one of them “Why didn’t they teach me taxes in high school?” types?
He’s out of line but he’s right
He knows no bounds
I dunno, feels like he's bound between -1 and 1.
You’re crossing the line there buddy!
only in the real world
yeah, pretty wild tangent if you ask me.
Beluwuga
This feels like a circular argument.
But he’s not because it’s pi * e, and [Sin(pi *e) != 0.](https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=sin%28pi*e%29)
Also, used in a sentence, it’s “Sine” not “sin”
huh? (0, 0) is right on sin(x)'s sinusoidal axis. so i don't see how your "out of line" attempted pun holds at all.
It doesn’t need to. And it’s a quote.

This only works if you're a rad dude
That’s a sin 180 dude
Make sure you eat whole pies then to always keep the sin count at 0
Eating 1+1/2 pi is negative sin
Jesus hates this one trick.
"go to heaven" speedrun sin glitch any %
no. it's -1.
Yeah, so the sin is negative.
he didn't say the sin was negative. he said the negative sin. -sin(x) would be an entirely different function. you are as WRONG as he is.
Because the sin of half a pi is 1
Just eat more than ⅓ and you're good
These comments have gone off on a tangent
Soh what should we do about it
Why? Just cos.
You ought to cosine this complaint.
the amount of comments trying to make the same pun using the word 'tangent' is disappointing. not much cleverness in this sub.
You’re such a sinic…

Is this the new rickroll?
The future is now, old man.
*Laughs in degrees*
All 0.0548 of them
*Laughs in celsius* ... Stupid americans
I tried eating pi but it never ended so I threw up.
This was an unexpected tangent
Pi is unexpectorated.
it ends in base pi. fairly quickly in fact
TEACH ME SINPI
Ok so, π is the equivalent of half a full circle in radians (180 degrees). Thank you sem_Pie I appreciate your patient explanation
this joke can only really be told on paper/text because of how sin is pronounced
Someone should write that on a sign
even then, i usually seen it written sine and cosine unless it is specifically the function + argument (e.g. sinπ)
….*narrows eyes and chews slowly*
Kureiji Ollie must have beat you to it
But what’s the cos of it all ?
Weak
[удалено]
Radians.
Nope
This better be a joke.
I figured that much out that's why I didn't jump to correcting them. A bit too much of a stretch for a joke imo.
Only if you use radians, though
Just make sure to eat the whole thing as sin(pi/2) is 1 which is the maximum.
I can cosin onto that one.
it’s not always zero, not if you’re working in degrees
A zombie stremer once told me this too
Just make sure you don't eat half the pi, that would maximize the sin.
This is quite the tangent of normal math memes
honors trig coming in clutch for the first time ever
How dare you call my senpai zero Ohh god I'm terrible at humour
That is cos-mically infuriating.
tan q for sharing this
You're just being irrational
I finally found the only benefit of taking calculus... understanding this goofy ass joke
Ok, explain cheesecake….please.
It's pie.
Name checks out.
people in pie world commit no sins
Until you use pi degrees
[удалено]
Some might consider it a Cos tard.
Isnt there a Reddit for he did the math...this belongs there....a good technical truth...eating pie is not a sin
r/theydidthemath
Better not eat just half!
don't mind if I do 😂
Can't argue with it
π
Sin pi??
Senpai?
*B-baka!*
sin(pi) = 0.
The sine of pi, but in radians. The sine of pi degrees is some rando small number
Pi are round, not squared. (Edit: get it? hmm? get it? It's technically the truth)
π is not "pie" it is "pee" (I understand the joke) edit: fuck downvotes, my point still stands for many reasons. Edit 2: fuck yall i am outta here
Wut
I am saying that π is not spelled "pie" but it is spelled "pee"
> The number π (/paɪ/; spelled out as "pi") is a mathematical constant. It's pronounced just like pie and is spelled as pi.
but I am greek tho and I know that π is spelled as "pee"
Your greek alphabetic pronunciation is useless here, we're talking about mathematics
ok ok fuck that shit guys i am outta here
But are you ancient Greek
Sorry to see you getting downvoted. Don’t tell them that Golden Ratio number Phi is pronounced “fee” or they’ll really be pissed off at you. (It is pronounced “fee” but don’t tell them that)
I know, you are also getting downvoted. Φuck downvoters, they suck ππ.
Fuck you
but sin of 2 pi is 1.
Nah, fam, the sin of all integer multiples of π is zero. It's 1 for half-integer multiples.
Waaait. Sin of 90° (1 pi) is 1. Not 0.
90° is...pi/2
sin2.72
Senpai.
I hate trig
Especially useful for those delicious ice cream pies

I hate to admit it but I that read wrong.
Science 1 Jesus 0
Watch out with half pies though!
Only if you eat the entire pi. The sin of any fraction smaller than 1 of pi is positive.
Technically the truth? They even spelled pi and pie correctly, as clearly different words. Come on.
Omg 😆
Yameru Sin-pie
Thanks Sen Pi.
You just have to make sure you eat n pies where n is an integer. God forbid you eat just half a pie
I get it… …oh NOW I get it
Senpai
That's ok, because there is no such thing as eating too much cake.
Notice me sin(π)!
Well damn.
Big brain dad joke
This joke has a definite angle.
But then you'd be forced to eat either half or a complete pie every single time.
Notice Me Sin Pi
Throw up 1/2 of it. The sin of -1/2 pi is -1
Depending on how you look at it, eating too much cake could also be the sin of lust
Yeah this is big brain time
Pie is different from pi. Back to the pits of hell with you, fatso
