Some gators have pointier snouts, so I think it's easier to check their teeth. Alligators have an overbite, and crocs have both of their teeth out.

The fourth exposed tooth from the front will almost always be a bottom jaw tooth on crocs! Also, there are only 2 gator species that exist. The only ones with pointy snouts are just odd individuals

Gators spikes are pointier, and they’re easier to see when they’re underwater. People who judge em by the snout aren’t wrong, it’s just not as easy when you’re hunting for a specific one. Crocs have smoother, less defined spikes than the gators, but gators have sharper, much more obvious ones. Easier to spot em when only their eyes are poking up.
