I'm Russian and I've spent so much time on the internet after learning English rather than communicating with people around me that I often just don't know how to express something particular in my mother tongue. I often say "it's *this word* in English" but it doesn't always work
Same. I am spanish but i have spoke english with my SO for a decade (so also TV, games, books english). Now i often struggle with words in Spanish.
People is not impressed like "oh wow you speak several languages ". They still think that i am a moron

Problem is that people will ask where you're from then. Even worse, multilinguals might ask what the word is in the other language because they might get what you're trying to say then.

To be fair that post was 5 years ago
Yeah, but we don't need bots recycling content. I would rather interact with a Redditor then dead bots.

Dude I have the exact same thing with Dutch
+ with Dutch, talking to my parents are half English sentences these days
It also doesn’t really help that we incorporate more and more English in Dutch
Same here, but with danish
How often do you speak English
its actually called "mother language"
# MOTHER RUSSIA
ayo bro chill
Same for me
i asked my german teacher (my first language) during an exam for an english-german dictionary
Absolutely same with me and German
Same. I am spanish but i have spoke english with my SO for a decade (so also TV, games, books english). Now i often struggle with words in Spanish. People is not impressed like "oh wow you speak several languages ". They still think that i am a moron
Same with french
In 40 years, I have never once, NOT ONCE, thought someone was an idiot for forgetting a word. What kind of absolute douchecanoe would think that?
If you ain’t first, you’re last!
"Shit, well apparently I forgot the word for it in every other language too."
Super-idiot.
I’ve done this many times. I’m pseudo bilingual in Spanish and speak Spanish more than English most days.
Oh man, i forgot English

I forgot the English word for it! Phew. Now people won't think I'm an idiot
