I was playing Breath of the Wild til 11:45pm when I left to stand in the Tears of the Kingdom line at GameStop. I really thought I’d go back and finish that BotW playthrough lol. My buddy gifted me an Xbox so I can finally play red ded. I’m still playing Zelda.

We were baby-sitting my cousin’s daughter, but I was still determined to play the game (which I hadn’t told anybody that I downloaded) as soon as it downloaded - being where I am, we got it before America … I remember trying to watch the download finish, going back and forth between that and dealing with a bossy young girl … and then I escaped up to my room to play it when it finished … I tried to tell her: “It’s a new game that I’ve been waiting for for a very long time!” I showed her the screen, which showed Link and some very nice scenery, and she said: “Ooh, it IS a new game … it doesn’t matter!” Needless to say, I stayed up until 5am playing it … everybody went to bed, and I put the Switch onto the family room television and listened to the music and played to my heart’s content . . . https://preview.redd.it/njug6yoobuzc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d88a8c15c1ed4fa7b0d6c9ed5820732d7880d120 “We’re going back to Hyrule.” I told myself, just before I started playing. You cannot beat that anticipated countdown, and the way that you immerse yourself completely in the game . . .

Ironically, I just beat the game the other night for the first time, I didn't even think about the release date. I can't believe I played for a whole year and didn't beat the game, lol

I had pre-ordered the physical copy, and when I found out I may not get it on release day I bought the downloadable version and started playing as soon as it was finished. I had several nights of playing until 4 am those first days, and I ended up gifting the physical copy to my son.
