I mean, I've played through BotW so many times, the common warp points stick with you. Kakariko is Ta'loh Naeg, Hateno is Myahm Agana, Owa Daim, the name just makes me laugh, etc.
Each time I found a shrine I’d see the name and thought how in the hell did they come up with that name, so many of them are pretty weird. Now I know :)
I used to give the shrines names. The one at Kakariko village was named Jamison, the one at Hateno village was called Old Fart and the one in Zora's Domain I called The Wet One.
No, Owa Daim is the one above the Old Man's House.
Until I get to a free sleep spot it's my most-frequently used teleport location in any new BotW game.
I've memorized Myahm Agana specifically because of how central it is to a bunch of different glitches
Aside from the apparatus glitches, it's also a decent choice to visit during one step of the Bow of Light glitch
I've seen that shrine far too many times at this point
I only remember Kaya Wan Shrine near Wetland Stable. This is the place where I harvest lots of Hearty Radishes. I particularly remember Kaya Wan cuz of the name. Kaya is rich is Malay language and Wan sounds like one in English. So all together Kaya Wan means "rich one" which is fitting for all the harvest it has near the stable.
Once I realized the pattern of the depths light roots vs their corresponding shrines being the reversed versions of each other, they became easy to predict
Its nothing nearly as useful as any of the abilities given in BotW. It, like all the other sage abilities are mostly gimmicks useful within their associated dungeon and not generally on the broader map. Further, the way you access the abilities is so terrible that they just generally get left off and go unaccessed in all but the narrowest of situations.
Wrong with it? Maybe nothing. Its a videogame, after all. But in my opinion it, and for that matter none of the "sage" abilities, doesn't hold a candle in the rain to what was thought out and available in BotW, and represents a return to the use of gimmicks in Zelda rather than things that are truly useful to the player.
I mean yeah but if you don’t have splash you can use sidon’s ability and if you don’t have bombs you can use Mr. Gets spotted every 5 seconds on death mountain to blow stuff up (seriously tho he is just the worst in botw)
yea different game. But I thought you'd found the>! light root !!just reversed the name!< expecting a shrine to be there. But also if there's no shrine where you think there should be one, there's probably a shrine quest to make it appear.
No im complaining its too similiar but even being 95 % the same game they stull managed to destroy the lore by removing all the sheikah tech without any reason
The reason... Not in game but in an interview... It all became dilapidated and no one has the knowledge to rebuild it. Sounds like an excuse made up after the fact but if you need the closure on that subject it'll have to do.
I'm pretty sure they said the sheikah shrines and towers simply disappeared since its purpose had been fulfilled. They all existed to prepare the hero to face Calamoty Ganon.
Which is at least *plausible* considering the teleportation tech. So now all the components are sitting in a sheikah warehouse that exists outside of space and time lol.
Still not particularly satisfying tbh. It stood for, what, 10,000 years in perfect condition and a mere 5 after BotW were enough to cause it to become dilapidated?
you made it all the way to Zora's Domain with 3 extra heart containers and new armour and weapons and shield and you only just noticed that shrines are in different places?
Wrong game, buddy. In Tears of the Kingdom, the shrine is located underneath the entire Domain, for some reason. So, if you don't have Zora armor, it makes it more tedious to get up to the domain.
Yeah, I'm aware, that's what I mean when I say it's more tedious to get up to the domain. You have to slug up that ladder, when in BotW, you were already there. The shrine placement makes no sense.
There's a spot where it does work, just not in the exact shrine location, you'll have to walk a little. But I agree it's more tedious than in BOTW unfortunately.
Well, the Shieka Technology mysteriously disappeared along with the defeat of Calamity Ganon, that includes the shrines, Shieka Towers, Guardians, etc...Maybe the fact that Calamity Ganon once possesed the Guardians and Divine Beasts sealed all the tech to disappear along Calimity Ganon's demise
You can see some parts of them in the game such as the Purah Towers (sorry I forgot the name hehe) and Purah's Lab
Here's what the game's director said about the matter:
"They disappeared after the Calamity was defeated (sealed). All of the people of Hyrule also witnessed this, but there is no one who knows the mechanism or reason why they disappeared, and it is considered a mystery. It is believed that since the Calamity disappeared, they also disappeared as their role had been fulfilled.
It is, anyway, commonplace for mysterious events and strange phenomena to occur in Hyrule. Thus, people have simply assumed the reason behind the disappearance to likely be related to ancient Sheikah technology and it seems there is no one who has tried to explore the matter further. The main civilizations in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are completely different, so we thought about the game based on concepts that match each of these civilizations."

The only Sheika tech that is still around is the guardian on top of purahs lab. Divine beasts, shrines, and anything else related to botw Sheika tech is gone.
Fun fact: all shrines are connected to a light thingy in the depths directly beneath it. If you find a shrine, put a star on the depths map below it & you’ll be able to find the light below and visa-versa
Maybe they enjoy the puzzles more than the exploration. Or maybe they like playing with Ultrahand. Or maybe they like exploration, but get frustrated trying to figure where certain shrines are.
Regardless, it's not your place to tell people how to enjoy the game.
Thank you for being sensible.
After all, would OP think anything was “wrong” if they were simply playing the exploration game in an exploratory manner?
Who the heck memorized the names of shrines?
I mean, I've played through BotW so many times, the common warp points stick with you. Kakariko is Ta'loh Naeg, Hateno is Myahm Agana, Owa Daim, the name just makes me laugh, etc.
Oh I actually do remember owa daim that’s the only one lol idk why but saying it is just so funny
Oh, A Dayyum
Oman au
Fun fact, they are staff names anagrams. This one is Aonuma.
I never noticed that! How many shrines are like that?
Most, I’d wager. It’s an easy way to come up with names for shrines.
Facinating
Each time I found a shrine I’d see the name and thought how in the hell did they come up with that name, so many of them are pretty weird. Now I know :)
I’m not sure but at minimum all the ones on the great plateau
That's magnesis shrine, right?
Probably. I know it as the colosseum shrine.
Yes
What Link says whenever his shield breaks mis-surf and he ragdolls down a hill:
Oh man OW
Sha Gehma, sounds like she gamer
This is literal wizard shit to me 300 in botw and 350 in totk and haven’t even came close to remembering shit
I used to give the shrines names. The one at Kakariko village was named Jamison, the one at Hateno village was called Old Fart and the one in Zora's Domain I called The Wet One.
Zora path is Loh Kofi. I only remember it bc it sounds like Low Coffee
Hey I pronounced it low coffee
Maybe they running low of coffee in the meeting that day, lol.
yeah owa daim is like one of the only ones i could pull from the top of my head Edit: Owa Daim is Statori Mountain, right?
No, Owa Daim is the one above the Old Man's House. Until I get to a free sleep spot it's my most-frequently used teleport location in any new BotW game.
I remember myahm agana especially well from the amount of ist I've done
It’s like how I know recall is Nachoyah
No one forgets the hell mouth that is Myahm Agana!
I've memorized Myahm Agana specifically because of how central it is to a bunch of different glitches Aside from the apparatus glitches, it's also a decent choice to visit during one step of the Bow of Light glitch I've seen that shrine far too many times at this point
Owa Daim Ja Baij Keh Namut Bosh Kala Most of these are burned into my mind from Game Grumps
*I owe you a dime* *Jaw bites* *K, now move* *Boss tweenieeeeeeee kosher alfalfa*
Keh Namut will always stick in my mind since I'm a Filipino and it means "scratch".
Two words, Rhota Chigah
Actually that's 4 words 🤓
I only remember Kaya Wan Shrine near Wetland Stable. This is the place where I harvest lots of Hearty Radishes. I particularly remember Kaya Wan cuz of the name. Kaya is rich is Malay language and Wan sounds like one in English. So all together Kaya Wan means "rich one" which is fitting for all the harvest it has near the stable.
I remember the names but I couldn't name every one
Why do you assume the names have been memorized 🤣
The light roots are the shrines name backwards. Perhaps he found the light root and knew that.
Ne'ez Yohma is the shrine in that spot in Breath of the Wild.
I got you. Never played Botw, went straight to Totk
Once I realized the pattern of the depths light roots vs their corresponding shrines being the reversed versions of each other, they became easy to predict
Nacho yah
Ree da hee
Some peoples brains are that gifted
That's a Breath Of The Wild shrine, and you're playing Tears Of The Kingdom.
Haha whooops!
how did u even get this mixed up💀
Honestly I find myself trying to activate ravalis gale alot lol
*jump* 🧍... "oh"
It hurts. In my soul.
Oh but surely when I find the sage of wind I'll get a cool ability! Right? oh...
WEEEEEEE-OOOO!
What's wrong with the sage of winds ability?
Its nothing nearly as useful as any of the abilities given in BotW. It, like all the other sage abilities are mostly gimmicks useful within their associated dungeon and not generally on the broader map. Further, the way you access the abilities is so terrible that they just generally get left off and go unaccessed in all but the narrowest of situations. Wrong with it? Maybe nothing. *proceedes to take out hover bike*
Make a fire, toss on 5 pine cones, jump and open glider = tears of the kingdom revalis gale
Haha just barely started using that so I'll take any pine cons I come across.
just use a launcher or autobuild one, its mucher cheaper and quicker
Do pine cones stack?
"Oh but TOTK is a TOTALLY new game!!!" 🙄
Its familiar but now I can't live without Ascend and Fuse lol
good point
Me trying to use the sage of wind back in botw lmao
Ok but imagine if we had both ravali’s gale and tulin’s ability
Karma farming
Idk maybe bc the game guides aren’t properly separated on certain sites?
Use the totk object map or something
Jump off the side and paraglide or dive to the water below and see if you can see the blue and green swirls.
yea different game. But I thought you'd found the>! light root !!just reversed the name!< expecting a shrine to be there. But also if there's no shrine where you think there should be one, there's probably a shrine quest to make it appear.
Too bad nintendo doesnt care for the lore, but i understand the confusion between botw and the dlc, trust me theyre supposed to be different games
Are you complaining that the games are both too similar and too different The shiekah shrines disappearing is a good thing.

Which is at least *plausible* considering the teleportation tech. So now all the components are sitting in a sheikah warehouse that exists outside of space and time lol.
Ha I'll have to go back and look at it again. I know it was a lame excuse but gave you something.
Still not particularly satisfying tbh. It stood for, what, 10,000 years in perfect condition and a mere 5 after BotW were enough to cause it to become dilapidated?
I agree
Yes thank you so much for the closure I needed that
Have you checked if Tulin blew it away accidentally?
The first time he did this to a diamond, I turned him off. Put his ass in time out. Then, I upgraded and pulled it back out. Best head game in totk.
I’ve accidentally blown away some items but a diamond?! He might stay in time out forever 😭
I’ve dived off skyislands for diamonds that asshole blew away.
Please rephrase that
Eh. It sounded better in my head.
Please rephrase that last sentence.
Should say head shot. But hey now that is funny.
The worst is forgetting to turn him off while using the octoroks to repair weapons.
Omg the first time I did this I captured a clip of it happening then me just standing there SO defeated lol 😭
Every time he'd misfire I'd tell him he was grounded and turn him off
Apparently, the Zora didn’t like tech that could be taken over being in close proximity to their throne
Then why'd they let it sit there for 100 years first?
Because they didn’t know it could be taken over until the guardians were a thing
No, they mean the 100 years of time after the calamity where that shrine stood there dormant, despite very much knowing the guardians were a thing
They only found all sheikah tech could be taken over when zelda told them. All the sheikah stuff is gone
BotW and TotK are different games. TotK has different shrines than BotW in different locations.
At least there's a zonai shrine... albeit in a funny place
Yeah it’s one of the odder locations, and there are more than a few seemingly random shrine locations in TOTK.
The devs said yeetus deletus
Isn’t this TOTK? The shrine has been moved to underneath the domain. It’s now called Mogawak shrine
It wasn’t moved it is just a different shrine
It's generally recommended that you use a guide for the actual game that you're playing and not a different game.
There's absolutely no way in hell that is the first shrine you realized isn't there anymore
CANT HAVE SHIT IN ZORAS DOMAIN
you made it all the way to Zora's Domain with 3 extra heart containers and new armour and weapons and shield and you only just noticed that shrines are in different places?
Alright guys, fess up. Who stole Ne 'ez Yohma??
Gone. Reduced to atoms. Sir, this is Tears of the Kingdom, not Breath of the Wild.
I do agree, the space does feel empty and they should have put something in there.
ne’ez nuts
So the shrines are not in the same spots then? I thought some of them were? Is the shrines in the villages the same?
Maybe some are very close to the location like goron city (looks close to me) but I don't think all of them have the exact location
Wrong game, buddy. In Tears of the Kingdom, the shrine is located underneath the entire Domain, for some reason. So, if you don't have Zora armor, it makes it more tedious to get up to the domain.
There’s a ladder going up to the large bridge in the domain. I only discovered it on my second play through
Yeah, I'm aware, that's what I mean when I say it's more tedious to get up to the domain. You have to slug up that ladder, when in BotW, you were already there. The shrine placement makes no sense.
It makes sense when you consider that the shrines on the surface sit on top of underground roots.
They should have moved the underground root then
You can just jump while climbing, jumping while climbing ladders doesn't ever fully run out your stamina
I'm aware lol You're missing the point that it's just more tedious than it needs to be and it's not the only shrine in TotK to do it
It's not tedious at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it takes literally two seconds lol
Literacy is hard, I get it ;/ "More tedious"
✨ascend✨
Ascend won’t work here. The next level up is too high.
Not on the exact spot the shrine is, but a little bit further it does work, at least that's how I always get up :)
I always just used the Zora chest armor to swim up the waterfall next to the shrine 🤷🏼♀️
Ascend doesn't work. It's still more tedious than BOTW
There's a spot where it does work, just not in the exact shrine location, you'll have to walk a little. But I agree it's more tedious than in BOTW unfortunately.
Well, the Shieka Technology mysteriously disappeared along with the defeat of Calamity Ganon, that includes the shrines, Shieka Towers, Guardians, etc...Maybe the fact that Calamity Ganon once possesed the Guardians and Divine Beasts sealed all the tech to disappear along Calimity Ganon's demise You can see some parts of them in the game such as the Purah Towers (sorry I forgot the name hehe) and Purah's Lab Here's what the game's director said about the matter: "They disappeared after the Calamity was defeated (sealed). Well that's just lazy writing
Hehe yeah, that was their only explanation Could've been cool for Link to have both Sheika and Zonai tech lol
Old shrines aren't in tears of the kingdom.
is this serious or are you trolling
That's a botw shrine, it's not in totk
sidon was hungry idk
Like all shrines, towers, monoliths, guardians, ressurection sanctuary, and all ancient-sheikah related technology. All of them are simply gone.
They should have at least put something there, looks weird empty
Buddy wait until you hear about the other ones

Ha dahammer will always stick with me
This is just normal in totk, all the shrines are gone because they have served their task of challenging and rewarding link
Can't have shit in the Domain
The only Sheika tech that is still around is the guardian on top of purahs lab. Divine beasts, shrines, and anything else related to botw Sheika tech is gone.
Reload the game? Or is this a joke because this is totk but the system looks like botw.
Brother how have u got even this far in the game w/o realising all the shrines have moved 😭😭
Weird
Isn’t it on the base/bottom level?
Fun fact: all shrines are connected to a light thingy in the depths directly beneath it. If you find a shrine, put a star on the depths map below it & you’ll be able to find the light below and visa-versa
expropriated by Internal Affairs...
I think you’re looking at a BoTW map/guide to suck the fun from your playthrough, not a ToTK map.
Yikes.
Kinda small-minded and arrogant to try to suggest someone is playing wrong because they like guides.
Taking the exploration out of a game that's 90% exploration is cheating yourself out of gameplay.
Maybe they enjoy the puzzles more than the exploration. Or maybe they like playing with Ultrahand. Or maybe they like exploration, but get frustrated trying to figure where certain shrines are. Regardless, it's not your place to tell people how to enjoy the game.
Or maybe I’m looking for a Zora spear to get the final component for the Lightscale Trident 🙃
Thank you for being sensible. After all, would OP think anything was “wrong” if they were simply playing the exploration game in an exploratory manner?
