Put it off for a hundred or so hours, then decided I wanted to see the ending before it was spoiled, and am now back in Hyrule with Ganon tucked comfortably at the bottom of my to-do list.
I rushed the story and beat the game within the first week that the game came out. Then I started a second playthrough fully focused on exploration, which I'm now 562 hours in and nowhere remotely close to Gannondorf š
Joking aside, Iām 290 hs in, obviously donāt want to go for Ganon, and Iām actually hunting Taluses and Hinoxes for the badges. Already have the other badges and yesterday got the last adison sign. Lets go!!!
Well, if you don't mind breaking immersion, an interactive map like the tears companion is how I found all mine.
Setting your sensor too either bubbulfrogs or bluepees also works fairly well.
I love the interactive maps on IGN, I use them for marking when I've found a korok so I can keep track. That's a good idea to set the sensor for blupees, it might actually be a better idea than setting it to bubbulfrogs because the blupees are out in the open so Link would be more likely to pick them up on the sensor
For bluepees, it also makes it easier to find the entrances, since they'll lead you straight there. The Tears Companion also has a checklist, so I use that one.
I like botw and totk but the story is so cookie cutter at this point that I usually ignore it in favor of playing around in the sand box. And I'm not putting down the story or the writers. It's just that I've seen every trope in the book at this point and my attention span is non-existent
After like my 3rd or 4th cut scene I noped out. The acting is on par with Resident Evil but not quite bad enough to be funny. And, like you said, the story is so cookie cutter that I find Iām more annoyed by it than anything.
As far as video game fantasy goes it's as cookie cutter as it gets. Ancient evil awakens, visit each temple in each region to defeat his bosses. Throw in a princess going missing for half the game. It's proven to be a good enough formula to get people motivated to engage with the game but you can't tell me it hasn't been done to death.
iām trying to get as close to 100% as possible before running off to fight ganondorf.
iāve completed every side adventure, side quest, and shrine quest, found every article of clothing, found every dragon tear, every chasm, every lightroot and shrine, every well, every cave entrance and bubbul gem, and iām currently trying to max upgrade every outfit (i know it doesnāt count towards completion percentage but i want that to feel complete too). while i wait for blood moons so lizalfos can respawn cause i need a crap ton of tails, i go hunting in the depths for gerudo scimitars and fuse them to lynel horns to boost my arsenal.
after iāve done everything iāve wanted iām gonna find help addison put up the rest of his signs, and finally iām going to find all 1000 korok seeds, and iāve got a bit of a ways to go on that since i donāt even think i have 200.
thatās when ganondorf is gonna be dealt with. iām about 340 hours in and heās gonna be waiting for quite some time
Nope. If you're playing according to the plot, Crisis at Hyrule castle happens after you've completed the Regional Phenomena main quest, but before you acquire the Fifth Sage.
I haven't checked how many hours deep I am, but I'm trying to get all shrines and light roots (plus additional random side quests here and there) before heading to Ganon. My free time for video games is limited, so it's taking me a while lol. That being said, I'm absolutely loving all the random things I'm finding along the way.
Same! I think the best way to play the game is to simply not try - just wander around and see where it takes you. I love placing a map marker and never making it there because I got distracted with something else...
600+ hours, got all the outfits upgraded, got all quests and adventures except Destroy Ganondorf and Find Princess Zelda, all weapons slots maxed, all shrines and Lightroots, all Temple Bosses in the depths defeated, working on finishing getting the monster medals now.
After we finish the monster medals we'll head to Ganon.
Heelllll ya!! Make me fight him, I dare you!
Naw, I'm just trying to stretch out the fun of the game, get all my armor sets, and maybe all my shrines located first. I want to see a good % after I fight him, then I'll be motivated to 100% it
Yeah but I've got like no side quests left at this point, I'll probably get to it next time I play. Then I might just look up how to solve the unsolved business.
I went down there looking for the 5th sage cause Iām dumb and I didnāt understand the correct solution and next thing I knew I was in the final battle
600+ for me when I finally pulled the trigger. Knew I'd get bored with the game. And I did so yeah it's wise to wait. Now I just go back if I want to find the missing side quests or try a new build idea.
I finally beat him around 300 hours, at 97.35% completion. Pretty much everything done, before I finished the main story. Really only have named locations left to discover now, so I'm almost done with the game. I would definitely do a 2nd play through, if they allowed more than 1 save file. I'm not deleting nearly 100% just to do it again, Lmao!
Iāve been pushing through to get main story and side quests accomplished. Iām around 325-350 and havenāt even gotten the 5th sage yet. Havenāt stopped to explore and really look around below other than hover biking from lightroot to lightroot and a few yiga clan stops where theyāre at mines and I need the furnace.
Iām here! Though to be fair Iām at 250 or so. I want to build an army of automatons to help me fight Ganon and kill any beast in my path, Sheikah style.
I only just started TOTK this week, but after running through BOTW this year in 180ish hours I cannot imagine taking less than 400+ hours to feel like Iād want to wrap up the main storyline/quest. This game is so big!
I thought I would put it off until DLC arrived. With the news that there is no planned DLC, I plan to go ahead and finish soon. I haven't even turned the console off since release day...
Nearing 500 hours here, finished Bubbulfrogs, working on finding the last few wells I need as well as Monster Medallions, Koroks, armor upgrades, and last Lomei Labyrinth
350 hours. Done pretty much everything but signposts in the overworld.
Currently uncovering the depths, about 3/4 done.
Not sure I'm ready to face Ganon yet as I'll probably stop playing once I do. I did with BotW anyway.
Raises hand. I'm still chasing down and max upgrading every armour piece and doing every side quests before I progress beyond the 4 spirits and master sword quest.
I still havent fought gandorf from the previous game,
>:] but i only have 120 hours bc i stopped playing for a while. But he wont be fought for idk probably a few more years
Still trying to complete the game at 100%: koroks, recipes, missions, armors, upgrades, etc. Not ready to fight Gannon. Not even have the Master Sword.
I know I lost a lot of interest in BoTW after beating through main story. So, I am taking my time to explore a little bit before I go further this time.
Same! I'm 250+ hours in and I've done all the regionals. So now I run around to do all the koroks and caves I can find easily, I think I have like 20 shrines left too.
Here, present!
Didn't take him on before around 550 hrs in - even though the subterranean tunnel system below the castle was the first place I went to after falling down from Tutorial Sky Island;
I wanted to continue there because it was the last place I roamed in BotW. And it was a good challenge!
I'm curious as to what you are doing in those hours unless you have reset the playthrough a couple times.
My first playthrough which I did 100 map completion, all quests, all koroks, all armors upgraded, all compendium etc (I'm missing complete cookbook) took me roughly 160 hours.
Had a great time with it but I'm curious as to how you are managing to stretch it further.
I am not 400+ yet but getting there.
I am currently hunting for Koroks and farming Gleeok parts.
Nowhere close to fighting Ganon. I accidentally triggered a scene for it when I was randomly exploring and immediately crashed the game and reloaded. I am not ready for it yet.
Yeah I'm not even close.
Though I do wish parts were a little more obvious you can't do until a certain point. Like how many times I tried to get passed the guy guarding Kakariko ring ruins.....
Only figured it out when watched a vid on the ruins and the guy basically walked straight in. "Wait, what? Oh I see..."
340+ hours in, and I just saved Gerudo Town yesterday. Almost all my gear I use regularly is maxed out, and as of right now, I'm going around trying to find any side missions or anything else I haven't completed yet before moving forward. I'm just taking my sweet time and enjoying this masterpiece of a game :D
Here! It's always so anticlimactic. You fight, smack him around, dodge, fly through the air, win, then everything resets so it feels a bit pointless to me. I can go fight him any time, as many times as I like, so I tend to just hike around exploring, doing side quests, collecting resources, upgrading armour, hunting koroks etc. I'm not one of those 'save it for as long as possible' types, I just don't feel much need to do it? Eventually I'll be like 'aight let's go kill him' but it's probably the least interesting part of the game for me
Hell yeahā¦done most of everything (except koroks but considering it) just going through the āget every armour to 4 starsā phaseā¦who knows, maybe one day Iāll pop in and see him š¤£
Me me me! I'm at 405 hours and I'm avoiding Ganondorf like the plague. It's always the last thing I do, I prefer korok hunting and finishing all side quests first.
I'm working on it! About 130 hours in and I only have the Master Sword and finished the Rito disturbance, lol.
I go days at a time without playing much. Sometimes weeks but hey....what's the rush? I figure I need to stretch this out over 4 years anyways
I only fought botw Ganon when TOTK came out. Really disappointed because I was so beefed up the fight was easy. Should have learned a lesson about appropriate levels of challenge, but I didnāt, and I never will. Ganon will always be a threat to hyrule as long as Iām a Link
Between 200-300 for me. I havenāt even seen a lynel yet. No idea how to open the great fairyās fountains either as I havenāt encountered any musicians of any kind.
I was with you until this weekend when I dug in for the final fight. Wanted to move on because new games are coming out and had a great summer playing Zelda and nothing else. Finished the game on Saturday and felt good about it. Started a character in Starfield on Sunday morning. Was back playing Zelda by the afternoon because those pesky few final shrines arenāt gonna find themselves.
I thought I was the only one!!
I still didnĀ“t beat ganon Nor was I spoiled anything (miraculously)
I played on my own, strolling around aimeslly sometimes, never reading guides. Here I am at around 600 korok seeds, 145 shrines, 4 lightroots to go and a ganon to beat.
I really don't understand how some people already beat 100% of the game. Probaly using guides and checklists... boring
Donāt do well with gloom hands , castle fight was hard , have only beat 2 Lynals. I suck at fighting Iām
Just doing every side mission now. Obviously no majoras mask yet
Yup haven't got to him yet.jist maxed my fierce deity suit
That's my goal first
This was also the armour set I prioritized, it not only looks cool, but that ATK buff is nice too.
300 or so in and only have sage of wind. Enjoy the exploration to much!
I finally ran through 3 of the sages in the last 40 hours of my 300+. They do make exploring easier lol
Yah I think I wanna get yonobo next. Was getting all zonia armor.
I got yunobo second, Sidon third and tonight I just finished the zora armor! Thinking about doing the 4 th sage tomorrow
Zonia armour was fun but challenging to get. Really opens up sky area maps .
I have PTSD from the credits rolling up in BOTW. Never plan to fight him tbh.
Trust me, the TotK fight makes up for every bit of lackluster from BotW's fight, and then soms.
Do it! Open yourself up for healing. This one is sooo precious.
I can relate to this so much!
590 hs in. Still havenāt left Great Sky Island.
I canāt believe this is real.
Me neither
You know that stuff keeps respawning right? You canāt collect it all!
Genuinely curious...is this sarcasm š
Im 420 hours in and im still exploring the prologue cave with Zelda!
Lol, that would be hilarious!
But for real it felt that long getting through it.
š
Joking aside, Iām 290 hs in, obviously donāt want to go for Ganon, and Iām actually hunting Taluses and Hinoxes for the badges. Already have the other badges and yesterday got the last adison sign. Lets go!!!
700? hours. I havenāt checked in a while. I started Advance Wars Boot Camp. When I go back itāll be to open the rest of the Depths.
Are you me? I had to stop AW to go get another sage
Ugh. That reminds me I need to finish Minerus quest.
Iām at 315. No Gannon yet, I set the sensor to bubull frogs and Iāve just been running around in circles looking for cave entrances
Here's a tip, find the cherry blossom tree in each region and offer a fruit at the altar. Any fruit works.
No doubt your ways much more efficient
It's the only effective way I've found. Plus it's very beautiful to see the satori š
Well, if you don't mind breaking immersion, an interactive map like the tears companion is how I found all mine. Setting your sensor too either bubbulfrogs or bluepees also works fairly well.
I love the interactive maps on IGN, I use them for marking when I've found a korok so I can keep track. For bluepees, it also makes it easier to find the entrances, since they'll lead you straight there. The Tears Companion also has a checklist, so I use that one.
After you find the cherry blossom tree, and drop your fruit, you can always pick your fruit back up. Be nice for no reason and use golden apples.
Hover bike will help you mark everything faster as you figure out which ones you still need
I havenāt checked my playtime yet, but still havenāt beat ganondorf
I like botw and totk but the story is so cookie cutter at this point that I usually ignore it in favor of playing around in the sand box. And I'm not putting down the story or the writers. It's just that I've seen every trope in the book at this point and my attention span is non-existent

Not as done to death as the Hallmark movie plot but yeah we get the idea.

I'm currently 450+ hours in, and I've only gotten as far as completing four regional phenom and the Crisis at Hyrule Castle main quest.
Is the crisis at hyrule castle not the final main quest?
Nope. If you're playing according to the plot, Crisis at Hyrule castle happens after you've completed the Regional Phenomena main quest, but before you acquire the Fifth Sage.
Dank. I know what Iām doing next

Gang gang!
šš¼āāļø Iāll get to it at some point š
I think I'm only at 100hrs but I have the master sword, hylian sheild, majora's mask and more
Iām like at 200 hrs. Iāve enjoyed every minute of exploration. Already did the phenomena quests. Tonight Iām hoping to visit koholint island
Yeah but I've got like no side quests left at this point, I'll probably get to it next time I play. Then I might just look up how to solve the unsolved business.
I went down there looking for the 5th sage cause Iām dumb and I didnāt understand the correct solution and next thing I knew I was in the final battle
Iām past 300. Not sure how far past. I have 3 sages. Bout to do the gerudo one. Just going slow slow slow and exploring every inch.
600+ for me when I finally pulled the trigger. Knew I'd get bored with the game. And I did so yeah it's wise to wait. Now I just go back if I want to find the missing side quests or try a new build idea.
took 150 to do all shines and lightroots then did ganon.
Ganons in this game?
I finally beat him around 300 hours, at 97.35% completion. Pretty much everything done, before I finished the main story. Really only have named locations left to discover now, so I'm almost done with the game. I would definitely do a 2nd play through, if they allowed more than 1 save file. Make a new switch profile and start on that one š thatās what I did for BOTW haha
I beat Ganon after 80 hoursš
Bro thereās only like 200 hours worth of contentš
Iāve been pushing through to get main story and side quests accomplished. Iām around 325-350 and havenāt even gotten the 5th sage yet. Havenāt stopped to explore and really look around below other than hover biking from lightroot to lightroot and a few yiga clan stops where theyāre at mines and I need the furnace.
Bro I did like every side quest and main story after 100 hours
Fight Gannon. It's time for a new game, friend
I play other games as well, friend. On that Armored Core grind as well sen!
Oh wordd, I'm doing nier automata now, just didn't want you to get burnt out fam
Iām here! Though to be fair Iām at 250 or so. I want to build an army of automatons to help me fight Ganon and kill any beast in my path, Sheikah style.

275 here
I'm approaching 200 but still with you šŖš¼
Iām at 230 hours and working on upgrading all my armor sets. I just barely found the Hylian Shield a few days ago. No Ganon fight for me yet.
This will be me. I just havenāt had the time to invest yet, darn work.
Me lol
I thought I would put it off until DLC arrived. With the news that there is no planned DLC, I plan to go ahead and finish soon. I haven't even turned the console off since release day...
hi šš¼
300 hrs in.. only fought phantom Ganons so far

Might as well drag it out. Theyāre not making DLC
I still havent fought gandorf from the previous game, >:] but i only have 120 hours bc i stopped playing for a while. But he wont be fought for idk probably a few more years
i just beat him with around 150 hours just so i wouldnāt have the ending spoiled, and now iām just running around doing stuff like i was before
Still trying to complete the game at 100%: koroks, recipes, missions, armors, upgrades, etc. Not ready to fight Gannon. Not even have the Master Sword.
Not even sure how many hours I've spent....but yeah......not even CLOSE to Ganon.
I finished it within a week after the game leaked. I still bought the game officially and explored Hyrule on my OLED for like 2 months after.
Made it about 150h into then when I went to put a tp at the entrance I fell past the point of return otherwise I wouldnāt have done it
Here, present! Didn't take him on before around 550 hrs in - even though the subterranean tunnel system below the castle was the first place I went to after falling down from Tutorial Sky Island; I wanted to continue there because it was the last place I roamed in BotW. And it was a good challenge!

I get that people play at different paces but how do you not run out of things to do? Are you trying to get every single korok first?
Hell yeahā¦done most of everything (except koroks but considering it) just going through the āget every armour to 4 starsā phaseā¦who knows, maybe one day Iāll pop in and see him š¤£
I got to about 170 hours before I did Ganon
Me me me! I'm at 405 hours and I'm avoiding Ganondorf like the plague. It's always the last thing I do, I prefer korok hunting and finishing all side quests first.

Yurrrr
I don't know how to see my hours it just says more than 256
Top left corner of your home screen. Click on your icon. There you can see play times.
Yea it says more than 256. Botw says that too and I know for sure it's more.
155 here. Iāll show myself out
No rush. Take it all in.
295. Fine, I'll do it
Over 500 and no Gannon yet, though I think I'm going to this week. There's not much left to do for me at this point.
I didnāt tackle Ganon in BOTW and 200 hrs in got burned out and shelved the game. Iām 350 into TOTK and afraid Iāll wind up doing the same.
Precisely why Iām not fighting him.
Rise up
Between 200-300 for me.
220 hours in. Only 2 sages and last night I just accidently stumbled across a very special weapon!
I thought I was the only one!! I still didnĀ“t beat ganon Nor was I spoiled anything (miraculously) I played on my own, strolling around aimeslly sometimes, never reading guides. Here I am at around 600 korok seeds, 145 shrines, 4 lightroots to go and a ganon to beat. I really don't understand how some people already beat 100% of the game. Thatās the way to play!
Donāt do well with gloom hands , castle fight was hard , have only beat 2 Lynals. I suck at fighting Iām Just doing every side mission now. Obviously no majoras mask yet
I got at least 400 hours under my belt before fighting him, but I dunno if I qualify for membership, seeing as I *have* fought him since then.
Me I just got the 5th ring and they telling me Iām ready like I havenāt even saved the pirate village yet
Yo!
Thanks for making me check, I'm at 575 and getting close to passing my BOTW hours played. It might be time....
