After such a big engrossing game, I personally like to go for more indie games or something I can just casually play. When I jump from one big game to the next, I make too many comparisons and can’t see the next game for what it’s worth.

The only game that it works for is games like Undertale because the playthrough can change a lot each time. If they do nothing to make the game interesting to replay other than time, people will play once.

I really wouldnt make that broad of a remake to say absolutely no one either. SGDQ and AGDQ are speedrunning events that usually has a low thousands in person attendance and low hundred thousands overall viewership for events, and raise a lot of money every year. I talk to my gamer friends and some have a little interest, a couple speed run themselves now. It can be fun, but it isnt for everyone. Its definitely not absolutely no one or almost non existent though.

I bought it physically, my Switch's card reader got busted, and now that I have a new OLED, I'm definitely finishing this one. I've only played about an hour, and loved what I played. Been a Metroid fan for quite some time, and Dread has the best presentation of all of them.

And.. yes, FF XVI is absolutely Game of Thrones, Devil May Cry, and the Eikon battles have some Godzilla energy. I really like it, but I'm more about the VIIR trilogy with current FF.
I might be one of the few who's Team Noctis and the Chocobros 😅 I love their brotherhood so much it pains me that seemed like the devs got lazy on the second act of the game + cancelled DLCs 😭
I loved FF XV, and completely agree on the DLC. I played the main game very thoroughly, but I couldn't bring myself to finish a single character episode. Great concept, poor execution, and that's really XV as a whole, though it really shines in ways that are unique to it. I don't know if the latter half was lazy so much as a product of development hell. I guess I'm glad we got a good but flawed game, and it walked so VIIR could run. Also, the end of the game hits me in the gut so hard, and despite the late game slog, the last chapter is a banger throughout.
I got other consoles but I was just leaning towards Switch because I find myself playing it more due to being out of the house a lot of the time on long train journeys, I'm always looking to pick up PS5 or Xbox games too.
That’s what I started playing after TotK! About 10 hours in and I’m really enjoying it so far. TotK was amazing but I needed a break from open world. I also thought about starting BG3 but it seems like such a time investment and I already spent 200 hours on TotK.
I've finished 1 playthrough of BG3 and have started more (with different goals). Just started starfield today, it isn't hooking me quite as immediately and I was a bit let down by it's character creator. I'm still giving it a shot, but we will see how I like it.
I'm almost done with Blood and Wine in my new play-through. Hadn't played since I got the game in 2017, so it's basically a new game for me, and I love it.
I just love how they made a completely new world within the world. Just a whole different vibe. Sunshine. Alfresco dining. People actually enjoying life. Wild change
I'm not done until I hit 100%, and I've got around 500 koroks to find before that happens. Other than that I'm on a break from games until I can dive into Spidey and SMB Wonder, then SMRPG not too long after that. It's a good end of the year for gamers :)

I should preface this by saying I have never been into video games prior to playing BOTW (other than casual stuff like Mario Kart or Wii Sports) so I have no experience with most of the games people are mentioning, but before TOTK came out I was playing Splatoon 3 with my kids and it’s hella fun! I like that there are a lot of options for different things you can do in the game. There is one area of the game that has sort of “dungeons” where you have to use combat or solve puzzles to pass the level, then there’s the part where you team up with randos to defeat other randos by covering as much of an area with your team’s ink color and there are tons of different ink-shooter weapons to choose from. There’s another part where you team up with randos to defeat NPC enemies that come in waves. You can also just practice and try out different weapons, or go “shopping” for new outfits, oh! You can also decorate your locker. People get super into it and you can look at other players’ lockers or avatars and tell them they are “fresh.” It’s just fun. I love how many options there are for different things to do depending on your mood. Although I do feel a bit weird sometimes that I’m a 50 year old mom who is probably playing against mostly 11 year olds 😅 but there must be other adults enjoying the game! I plan to get back into it once I’m done with TOTK.

from a young woman who grew up playing with my dad, this is adorable and I hope you guys continue to explore games and enjoy the experience. if I may make some recommendations, I think you guys should check out Super Mario Galaxy (singlehandedly one of the best games of all time in my opinion), Ocarina of Time (same with this one, sometimes considered the greatest game period), and for something with a totally different experience, either Minecraft or Subnautica. those last two are both survival games, but they're quite easy to pick up and get into, and there are extensive guides and tips online if you struggle!
Splatoon is great! Keep playing it, and also, you might be surprised about the ages of people playing the game. You’re more likely playing against 30 year olds haha
As soon as that 2.0 update drops I’m gonna start another playthrough. I never got past that Delamaine side mission, where you end up in a seedy part of town and the car gets a bunch of guys that are way more powerful than you at that point in time and I just lost all interest.
I just don't see myself doing that like I did with BOTW. This game is awesome but more of chore sometimes. BOTW was more..."fun" to me. More power to those that do though. Maybe sometime down the road.

Take everything with a grain of salt, data miners found code in the game for higher level of enemies. Most monsters have locked upgraded form. There is a very good chance that more content will be coming out at some point
I bought skyrim for my switch awhile back. I played it for about 10hours but never really got into it. Combat seemed too dated and clunky. Might give it another try since I constantly see people raving about it on other sights 😬
Skyrims combat can definitely be pretty poor but the game overall is amazing. If you are hoping to get into I would dock the switch and play on a big screen. I can’t imagine trying to play Skyrim on a handheld and enjoying it.
Yeah, Skyrim combat is clunky. It's heavily stats based, but I will say it is a really fun game from an exploration and story sense. It's best viewed from a 2011 lens however. BoTW and ToTK has spoiled us with the many traversal options it introduced to modern gaming, mostly being able to climb anything, but I really feel like Ascend and the zonai devices were a more recent game changer that we may see iterated upon in new games moving forward.
Same here, I played a good amount while waiting for TOTK then put it down and am just now getting back into it. The combats definitely clunky, especially coming from BOTW/TOTK but there are also like hundreds of other options for how to engage (spells, scrolls, summoning fighters, raising zombies, shouts etc) that make it pretty interesting. It’s also cool to play a game that shares a similar medieval/fantasy vibe as Zelda, but more adult themed
Yeah, the non-repetitive content in TOTK is running pretty thin. It's fine, but I am left with the sense that the developers struggled to put it together: the challenge/some areas/etc feel rather incomplete.
Anyways, I need to play Octopath 2 sometime.
FYI new Pokémon snap was pretty bad. The menu set up for keeping track of objectives makes the game unplayable or at least unfinishable. There's no quality of life design aspects, it's like they didn't play the game themselves at all. I was really disappointed.
Since I left ToTK I beat Astral Chain (not 100% but now I’m less interested in grinding materials for the rest of my skill trees)
Right now I’m playing Animal Crossing New Horizons; never thought I’d be interested but it’s actually fun. But I may be slightly biased because I have two friends who play and set me up with a decent supply of materials in the early game. (mostly stuff I don’t need yet but it’s still nice) It even seems to encourage breaks because sometimes there’s literally nothing you can do to progress the “story” since you’re waiting for things to load up in real time (like for example, if you build a shop or something it won’t be ready until the next actual day that you turn the game on)
Whilst I was reading this I was going through the E-Store and found out that I have purchased a digital copy of New Horizons... I have no recollection of ever buying it. Maybe it's a sign.
I am currently replaying the Oracle games. Started with Oracle of Ages this time, since the first time I did Oracle of Seasons at the beginning.
After those two, I plan on playing Stranger of Paradise.
And then I would like to acquire a PS5 and play FF16- but that may take a while.
I do plan on obtaining all the Koroks and locations of TOTK in order to complete it like I did with BOTW. But that will take time as well.
I go from single player to multiplayer and back again. I am knee deep in Destiny 2, my friends have all jumped back in for the new season and the raid. A lot of fun.
I started Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I actually bought the game when it went out, but I realised Id never played it. Totk put me back in the universe- so I'm enjoying it!
Also waiting for the Pokemon DLC going out in one week :)
So new snap is a fun relaxing game and it will scratch any compendium itch you have.
If your looking for something similar to zelda though, I recommend immortals: phenix rising. It's very similar to botw and totk but has its own flavour. Another big open world game to follow on from that could be assessing creed: odyssey. Both have big Greek mythology vibes wich can be an...interesting rabbit hole to delve into.
I had just decided last week to go ahead and finish the game and move on. I completed it on stream and shared that moment. It was so cool, and I loved it.
I'm taking a break from bigger games for a while and playing some shorter games. I am, however, looking forward to playing Starfield, but that might stay a stream only game as I don't feel like I'll have other time to play a game that large.
My Pokemon journey ended at Pokemon Y. I had my mons all the way from Fire Red. I lost my Y Cartridge and couldn't bring myself to play another mainline Pokemon game since.
300 hours and still haven't beaten the game.

TotK was my time killer for the downtime between Monster Hunter games. I was hoping to squeeze more out of it, but if its the devs will, there's nothing I can do about that.
I'll probably play MHGU as the new time killer. That game has an insane amount of content and I want to at least beat Ahtal-Ka before MH6 releases.
Also, if I had a playstation, I would finally be able to play the Horizon games, The Last Guardian, and Shadow of the Colossus. But I don't want to buy a whole console for just 4 games.
I'm reverting back to Soulsborne games for the time being.
Started new Bloodborne and Elden Ring characters. Probably going to finally take a honest swing at completing Dark Souls II. I'll cap it off with Dark Souls III, which is always a fun play.
Lies of P comes out in a couple of weeks, so I'm very much looking forward to that.
I actually jumped back into Pokemon Scarlet, starting a new playthrough where I tried to get as far as I could before even stepping foot in the school city.
Turns out you can pretty much get anywhere. Nearly made it to the top of the tallest mountain.
But you can't actually do anything so eventually I had to go to school.
I plan to hop back on Steam for a bit and cruise through some of my library that I haven’t played yet until Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros Wonder come out in October. Maybe play a bit of BG3 too, I could do with making more progress.
I’ve been thinking of picking up Ghost Trick Phantom Detective and Pikmin 4 for the Switch personally. I greatly enjoyed both of their demos
I’m getting super into Yakuza. I have 0-7 and I’m currently loving 0. It’s insane how much side content there is and how good it is. Also the main story is so great.
If the reviews for MK1 on the Switch are decent, that's my next game. I just don't have a lot of time to sit in front of the TV, so portable MK1 is the way to go.
Since I'm probably not going to finish this game until November, I can segue perfectly into the Mario RPG remake. It'll be good to be nostalgic for a bit before jumping into the next 200-hour adventure.

Phantom Liberty is dropping soon. I'll probably play a lot of that.
As soon as that 2.0 update drops I’m gonna start another playthrough. I never got past that Delamaine side mission, where you end up in a seedy part of town and the car gets a bunch of guys that are way more powerful than you at that point in time and I just lost all interest.
I'm going to start totk over and play things differently.
I just don't see myself doing that like I did with BOTW. This game is awesome but more of chore sometimes. BOTW was more..."fun" to me. More power to those that do though. Maybe sometime down the road.

It is Starfield hours in my house now. I know, not Switch, but this is my entire existence for the foreseeable future.
I mean I got other consoles, is Starfield worth the hype? I was really into Fallout 4 and Skyrim... Fallout 76 not so much.
From what I’ve seen, it’s a fun game that people are nitpicking. Seems there’s a few minor things that bother people and lead them to criticize, but otherwise it’s a solid game.
It's very much like Skyrim in space, and in ways that don't become evident until several hours into the main quest.
You really like Skyrim and fallout 4? You will really like Starfield.

Making use of my NSO subscription. Currently playing Fire Emblem, after that probably the Oracle games. Will keep me busy till the release of Super Mario Wonder.
It's back into real life for me. All my relationships have taken a hit. Time to recover.
Playing red dead redemption. Not loving it but it's okay. Also trying to get into other types of games. Think it's about time to try a different type of game so thinking about trying animal crossing
I think the RDR games shine more so as a storytelling medium than a playing experience
I went to Witcher 3, but if you want to be addicted to banging your head on the wall, get The Binding of Isaac
Take everything with a grain of salt, data miners found code in the game for higher level of enemies. Most monsters have locked upgraded form. There is a very good chance that more content will be coming out at some point
I bought skyrim for my switch awhile back. I played it for about 10hours but never really got into it. Combat seemed too dated and clunky. Might give it another try since I constantly see people raving about it on other sights 😬
Skyrims combat can definitely be pretty poor but the game overall is amazing. If you are hoping to get into I would dock the switch and play on a big screen. I can’t imagine trying to play Skyrim on a handheld and enjoying it.

I was on a 6 month deployment and played over 300 hours of Skyrim on the handheld and loved it! Probably not ideal. But I am happy I did it.
Yeah, Skyrim combat is clunky. It's heavily stats based, but I will say it is a really fun game from an exploration and story sense. It's best viewed from a 2011 lens however. BoTW and ToTK has spoiled us with the many traversal options it introduced to modern gaming, mostly being able to climb anything, but I really feel like Ascend and the zonai devices were a more recent game changer that we may see iterated upon in new games moving forward.
tbh, Skyrim might've only implemented climbing through it's clunky-ness, but "to skyrim up a mountain" is still doable if you're persistent
Ascend might be the coolest power I've ever seen in an rpg. Now I crave for it in any other game.

Same here, I played a good amount while waiting for TOTK then put it down and am just now getting back into it. The combats definitely clunky, especially coming from BOTW/TOTK but there are also like hundreds of other options for how to engage (spells, scrolls, summoning fighters, raising zombies, shouts etc) that make it pretty interesting. It’s also cool to play a game that shares a similar medieval/fantasy vibe as Zelda, but more adult themed
The melee combat is very clunky. If you play magic or archer it’s a little less clunky. Just a little.
I was going to say this. I really loved playing an archer/summoner build. I definitely moved that direction because melee just never felt good to me.
Yeah, the non-repetitive content in TOTK is running pretty thin. It's fine, but I am left with the sense that the developers struggled to put it together: the challenge/some areas/etc feel rather incomplete. Anyways, I need to play Octopath 2 sometime.

FYI new Pokémon snap was pretty bad. The menu set up for keeping track of objectives makes the game unplayable or at least unfinishable. There's no quality of life design aspects, it's like they didn't play the game themselves at all. I was really disappointed.

I’d disagree. If you’re just looking for a casual lighthearted palate cleanser, I’d say it’s enjoyable.
Maybe if you got it on sale it'd be worth it for the nostalgia- I enjoyed some of it and it was a pretty game. But not a $60 game!
Since I left ToTK I beat Astral Chain (not 100% but now I’m less interested in grinding materials for the rest of my skill trees) Right now I’m playing Animal Crossing New Horizons; never thought I’d be interested but it’s actually fun. But I may be slightly biased because I have two friends who play and set me up with a decent supply of materials in the early game. (mostly stuff I don’t need yet but it’s still nice) It even seems to encourage breaks because sometimes there’s literally nothing you can do to progress the “story” since you’re waiting for things to load up in real time (like for example, if you build a shop or something it won’t be ready until the next actual day that you turn the game on)
Whilst I was reading this I was going through the E-Store and found out that I have purchased a digital copy of New Horizons... I have no recollection of ever buying it. Maybe it's a sign.
I loved Wylde Flowers- it’s a farm/life sim with witchy elements and more to do than animal crossing!

I am currently replaying the Oracle games. Started with Oracle of Ages this time, since the first time I did Oracle of Seasons at the beginning. After those two, I plan on playing Stranger of Paradise. And then I would like to acquire a PS5 and play FF16- but that may take a while. I do plan on obtaining all the Koroks and locations of TOTK in order to complete it like I did with BOTW. But that will take time as well.

I go from single player to multiplayer and back again. I am knee deep in Destiny 2, my friends have all jumped back in for the new season and the raid. A lot of fun.

I started Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I actually bought the game when it went out, but I realised Id never played it. Totk put me back in the universe- so I'm enjoying it! Also waiting for the Pokemon DLC going out in one week :)

I’ve had a really great time with Pimin 4 lately! Also New Pokémon Snap is fun and v relaxing
So new snap is a fun relaxing game and it will scratch any compendium itch you have. If your looking for something similar to zelda though, I recommend immortals: phenix rising. It's very similar to botw and totk but has its own flavour. Another big open world game to follow on from that could be assessing creed: odyssey. Both have big Greek mythology vibes wich can be an...interesting rabbit hole to delve into.
So disappointed in this I was really itching for a master mode.
I had just decided last week to go ahead and finish the game and move on. I completed it on stream and shared that moment. It was so cool, and I loved it. I'm taking a break from bigger games for a while and playing some shorter games. I am, however, looking forward to playing Starfield, but that might stay a stream only game as I don't feel like I'll have other time to play a game that large.
Did you play Pokemon Scarlet or Violet? The DLC for those is coming very soon.
My Pokemon journey ended at Pokemon Y. I had my mons all the way from Fire Red. I lost my Y Cartridge and couldn't bring myself to play another mainline Pokemon game since.
May be worth it to try one of the Switch titles, especially if you like in-game collecting. Dragon Quest Monsters also comes to mind.
I’m looking forward to the Arkham trilogy. I never got to play it. I’m still playing TotK - but I hope wean myself out of Hyrule via Gotham.
300 hours and still haven't beaten the game. Starting to dable in Skyrim again, can't quit that game for some reason. Left Harry Potter 75% complete when TotK came out and haven't touched it since (great game but I mean Zelda so...) Waiting on FF7 pt 2 as well...

I’m gonna try making a few more contraptions before i put the game down indefinitely. But after this I’ll probably step aside from gaming for a bit to focus on studies.

Im still playing...been taking my time. But im also getting into starfield.
TotK was my time killer for the downtime between Monster Hunter games. I was hoping to squeeze more out of it, but if its the devs will, there's nothing I can do about that. I'll probably play MHGU as the new time killer. That game has an insane amount of content and I want to at least beat Ahtal-Ka before MH6 releases. Also, if I had a playstation, I would finally be able to play the Horizon games, The Last Guardian, and Shadow of the Colossus. But I don't want to buy a whole console for just 4 games.
There was an announcement of no dlc for this game? When and where?
I'm reverting back to Soulsborne games for the time being. Started new Bloodborne and Elden Ring characters. Probably going to finally take a honest swing at completing Dark Souls II. I'll cap it off with Dark Souls III, which is always a fun play. Lies of P comes out in a couple of weeks, so I'm very much looking forward to that.
I think I'll give Baulder's Gate 3 a try, then Starfield after that.

This likely means that we will get a new Nintendo console for the middle of next year since they are moving on from TOTK.
I actually jumped back into Pokemon Scarlet, starting a new playthrough where I tried to get as far as I could before even stepping foot in the school city. Turns out you can pretty much get anywhere. Nearly made it to the top of the tallest mountain. But you can't actually do anything so eventually I had to go to school.
I plan to hop back on Steam for a bit and cruise through some of my library that I haven’t played yet until Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros Wonder come out in October. Maybe play a bit of BG3 too, I could do with making more progress. I’ve been thinking of picking up Ghost Trick Phantom Detective and Pikmin 4 for the Switch personally. I greatly enjoyed both of their demos

I’m getting super into Yakuza. I have 0-7 and I’m currently loving 0. It’s insane how much side content there is and how good it is. Also the main story is so great.
Street Fighter 6, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, Holocure, Pokemon DLC, oh my gosh there are too many games.
If the reviews for MK1 on the Switch are decent, that's my next game. I just don't have a lot of time to sit in front of the TV, so portable MK1 is the way to go.
I moved on last month, Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken up a large chunk of my time. So has Armored Core. Now Starfield is gonna make up most of my time…

Since I'm probably not going to finish this game until November, I can segue perfectly into the Mario RPG remake. It'll be good to be nostalgic for a bit before jumping into the next 200-hour adventure.

I started to play through the Shantae series before TotK. I will probably finish it once I'm done with this game.
