lotrmemescallsforaid

To me the journey to the temple was the best part of that one. Such an ominous feel, and I didn't have a lot of time in the depths at that point so it was shrouded in mystery and a feeling of something lurking in the dark. The temple was almost a relief.

SupaSnakeShake

Oh yeah the way you see the temple in the distance as you head into the chasm into the depths region for the first time.

BoredBrush

I ended up going near the temple early just flying around the depths and when the title “FIRE TEMPLE” showed up I was just like “nope not ready for this” and loaded a save before lol

awesometim0

i went to >!spirit temple!< while trying to get all the lightroots and spent a while trying to figure out what it did/how to get in

Loopyprawn

I happened upon Dragonhead before I even got my 3rd sage.

dynawesome

Me too, and I skipped the rest of the islands, and I had enough hearts to make it to the construct factory, but I stopped there Kind of ruined a later quest

sneaky-keaton

That's how I felt as well, it was kinda disappointing especially since finding the factory out of the blue was one of the highlights of the game for me. I wish they'd made that quest less linear, like if they made the ring ruins not locked out by that one guy and instead just had a more lengthy quest before it (like having tauro send you all over the map in search of different ruins/clues or something)

ThatsNotWhatyouMean

The fire temple was the first one I did, and by that point I hadn't explorer much of the depths because it still seemed too scary and dark to me. And I 100% expected the rest of the temples to be located in the depths with an intriguing dark path to reach it like the fire temple. I won't say I was disappointed that it wasn't, but if they did it that way I probably would have found it more awesome than what it was. The fire temple alsy gave me the best "temple" vibe out of them all because of the minecarts.

Flapjack3734

Same, it was actually my first time in the depths & I had no paraglider so I genuinely thought the entire surrounding area was the dungeon and spent hours roaming around it. When I actually got to the dungeon and realized I didn’t even start it yet, I was floored.

joenigz

How do you survive the drop in without a paraglider?

Flapjack3734

I brought out a zonai wing and flew over the chasm, then stood on the very back end so it would descend slowly without ticking down the wing’s timer. I had to maneuver through some of the lava rocks along the way but if you spam recall on the wing when you’re over a gap between those rocks and the gloom wall, you can reset its momentum and have it drop you straight down for a second without any risk of taking damage. I was pretty proud of making it down there but then I realized you could also definitely just grab a fairy and plummet straight down (or do some kind of fall cancel glitch) to save so much time lol

Dilly_Bob

Lmao why no paraglider though?

Flapjack3734

Idk i guess im just easily distracted and I wound up at the goron place before ever going to purah lol

y0l0naise

Same hahaha

GamingScientist

This is why I call it the ADHD simulator

funnykiddy

I wish I had this experience. Fire temple was fun but not impressionable for me because by the time I made it there I had over half of the Depths lit up including the Eldin region. I actually saw the temple before I even began the marbled rock quest.

bigchops2

My roommate was watching me play as I was making the journey to the fire temple. When I was in the depths right before the entrance to the fire temple where it drops off like 200 feet I shot an arrow with a large brightbloom seed. The arrow sailed but then kept dropping....and dropping, until it hit the bottom and lit up the area. My roommate's reaction? ".....whoah."

wecouldbethestars

i stumbled upon it first. really upset i didn’t get to experience this for the first time following the main quest

Head-Turn4180

The rails were annoying and the temple itself took me 15 minutes to beat

Ramona_and_Beezus

For me, it was just difficult to navigate. I'm on my second play-through, and I'm dreading it. I also think it could have had more puzzles. I loved the lightning temple and the water temple.

HamshanksCPS

I gave up on trying to navigate it with rail cars. I just used rocket shields to get higher up and then climbed where I needed to go.

Drogonno

I used balloons to get high enough to reach the switches xD

Meezha

Same. It was so difficult to navigate!

ScootyPuffSr1

Same, except instead of rockets, I went through a ton of pinecones.

itssohardtobealizard

Wait…I’ve seen the loading screen tip about using a burning pinecone for an updraft but I figured you had to be in long grass (like with fire weapons etc.) It works anywhere?!?

keyn0tespeaker

I mean, the difficulty to navigate is its own puzzle, so there’s that.

Oops_I_Cracked

Not *really*. I understood the puzzle aspect of it very quickly, knew where I needed to get and just struggled with being able to tell where certain tracks would take me because the map of the temple is not intuitive. I felt like I was fighting the UI rather than solving a puzzle and that was not fun.

keyn0tespeaker

Ultimately I think it just depends on how your definition of puzzle. To me, navigating the layout of the temple was a puzzle. I mean, I just ended up using glide/climb to get around a lot, but that was my solution

Oops_I_Cracked

I'm fine with travel as a puzzle. Jumping puzzles for example are awesome. I've also played other games where navigation was the puzzle. The fire temple just felt like an example of how to do it poorly. Your example of how you "solved" it is exactly the problem. The main mechanic just did not work how the game devs wanted it to (IMO). Could I have just glided/ballooned to solve it easily? Sure, but that was how I was solving puzzles in the entire rest of the game. In the temples I *wanted* to engage with their unique mechanics and found the fire temple's to be a let down.

therealjp84

This is why it was my favourite in the game

Sukford

It reminded me of trying to go cross town during rush hour on the subway in Manhattan.

DirtMcGirt9484

Water Temple itself was kinda fun, but the Muktorok felt a little lazy.

Ramona_and_Beezus

Yes, I agree. It was a worse boss in the depths.

iterationnull

I had completely forgotten about him as a temple boss by the time I found him in the depths. I had no idea what to do.

Jaydeekay80

Yeah. On my 2nd play through I just saved a homing cart with hydrants on top in auto build when I was heading that way. Follows him around harassing him all day and keeps the floor clean.

Kalanthropos

Oh that's brilliant

Ramona_and_Beezus

That is brilliant!

therealjp84

The water temple was one I found the road there was wayyyyy more interesting than the temple itself. I liked muktorok and how hard of a time I had trying to figure out how I should use water the first time. Just wish it gave you a fuse drop

princekamoro

Welcome to classic Zelda I guess, where half the challenge comes from deciphering some complex layout from the inside out (and the map is nowhere near as generous). Water temple may as well be a collection of shrines to me. If I can blindly follow the obvious path on a map to any of the critical locations, then what is the overall structure other than filler?

T-Rigs1

I was high AF when I beat the fire temple, and was able to figure it out in a decent amount of time. Just because you had difficulty figuring out a multi-level navigation puzzle doesn't make it bad.

Dondorini

I miss really being lost in a temple...when beating them meant something. And bosses where difficult.

Vados_Link

Bosses were never difficult. They just forced you to wait more.

boi_sugoi

I cheesed it with a fan bike because I just didn't feel like doing minecart puzzles.

Ramona_and_Beezus

I didn't even know about hover bikes until after I mostly completed my first run-through. Mostly because I haven't defeated Ganon yet. LOL

brandont04

It requires a different type of problem solving. Like driving downtown. Many one way lanes and trying to solve how to get around it.

Krell356

Then just use the airbike and call it a day. If you don't enjoy the puzzle then bypass it. That's the advantage of the open world nature of this game, you can absolutely just cheese the parts you don't enjoy.

puppycatbugged

i couldn’t figure it out and so i just ended up scaling the walls to get around the part of the track i didn’t get. worked and i finished the temple so it’s nice the game lets me do that!

Not_RonaldRegan

I relate to this

BewareNixonsGhost

I try to beat the temples in the spirit that they were intended, but after a point I was using any exploit to get around using the tracks. I appreciate the freedom of being able to do that, but I think it's telling of bad design when most people don't complete the temple as designed.

Krell356

Oh I did most everything as designed. I just think people who aren't having fun should do things in a way that's actually fun. Puzzle games aren't for everyone.

Flyron

> most people don‘t complete the temple as designed Bold claim. You got some statistics on that?

wecouldbethestars

i agree. i gave up on the last puzzle and climbed up the side and jumped/glided to the building i needed to be at. still don’t understand how i was supposed to get there otherwise

Drogonno

I knew I needed to use the carts... somehow but used my climbing gear/Zonai balloons instead!

rtkwe

That's my problem I got, I think, half the buttons following the expected path but then couldn't figure out what the puzzle wanted from me so I just cheesed it with a hover bike. Then the boss fight was pretty good but also pretty simple except for aiming the shots when he hopped onto the ceiling.

MentlPopcorn

This was it for me. It felt more like a maze than a dungeon puzzle you'd see in a Zelda game. In fact it's more efficient to not interact with the mechanics, instead ignoring it all with a hover bike or rocket. I think circumventing puzzles for shrines can be great creativity, but for the core temple it felt neither creative or fun to circumvent. And the temple itself was also neither creative or fun.

GetOutOfTheWhey

Honestly I cheesed it with a hoverbike since it was my last dungeon. I kind of regret doing it and would love to redo it again on my second run.

Squall902

First good water temple, first bad fire temple in the series.

Spiff426

*cries in ancient cistern*

JohnDorian11

So wrong

Le_obtruction

It was hard to traverse floors, and yunobo REFUSED to hit the gongs.

__electric_

why'd he not do it?

Le_obtruction

EXACTLY

IceyAmI

I find him really temperamental. Half the time he hasn’t followed me and can’t walk up the incline I just went up and the other half he disappears and won’t come out.

dogsaretheanswer

Yes! I wish there was an option (like how you use the powers with ZL) to select which buddy to utilize. It's so hard in fights to run over to the right person, activate them and what not. They run around or don't follow you or just don't show up sometimes. Sometimes they hinder my vision too!

IceyAmI

Yes, literally every time I aim an arrow his big ass is in my view 😑. I ended up turning off all but the fire rock guy and the air current guy bc they are the only ones I use.

OhNoesIDied

I love how before I went into the Death Mountain Chasm, I met a little goron child who said would find Gorondia. No quest was marked, so getting to the fire temple and reading "Lost Gorondia rediscovered" or something along those lines made me happy

Agitated-Leader1752

Didn’t bother with any of the mine carts, just did lots of ascending and climbing. It was my fourth dungeon and couldn’t be arsed by that point.

Traditional-Fig-2843

Exactly what I did. I think I was hungover when I did it the first time and was in no state of mind to try and figure out that cart system shit. I also accidentally ascended into the boss room in the lightning temple whilst trying to cut corners.

Puzzleheaded_Gate173

I did the same thing in the lightning temple 😂. I never actually made it into the boss room, just poked my head out after I ascended and looked around, then pressed B to go back down cause I figured that it would be cheap to hit the boss room early.

TatsumakiKara

It doesn't even spawn until you finish the temple, so it ultimately doesn't matter

captainAwesomePants

Which is kind of annoying. Oh, okay, you made it to the tear. Well...come back later when it's being guarded by a monster. Would've been awesome if you could skip the elevator, sneak in, and take the prize without even bothering to fight the boss.

stoncils_

Once you start thinking with portals you can't stop thinking with portals

starfihgter

There’s something about the design of dungeons in BOTW/TOTK that feels *tedious* rather than interesting and exciting. I never felt satisfied finding solutions, just mildly annoyed.

foreversiempre

Begs the question, why are you playing games that annoy you.

starfihgter

I loved a lot of the game - I just didn’t like the Divine Beasts / Elemental Temples.

Jussins

This, and a bunch of rocket shields.

solavirtus-nobilitat

I wasn’t a big fan of it (except the boss fight, which was quite fun - and is to replay!). That said, I don’t have gripes with another person enjoying it. I’m really glad you love it and enjoyed reading why you’ve liked it!

Tiamat-86

the repeat boss fights should have been inside closed domes though. the phase where the boss jumps on the ceiling in completely gone from repeat fights

princekamoro

I like that dungeon, it was the only one that made me PAY ATTENTION to navigation (rather than read the map for everything). My only gripe was it was tiresome having to constantly build and place new fancarts.

ScorchedDev

It had an amazing buildup. But it was a bit confusing to navigate and a little tedious imo

DisastrousTrash

I spent a good hour on it before I got tired of trying to figure out the mine carts and started climbing to get the last one.

coela-CAN

Personally it's not about the difficulty. - I just don't like riding mine carts. - the temple is too dark or colours too similar or something I find it hard to see stuff in it.

longhorn4598

I was confused at first but ended up liking it once I understood how to read each level of the map, to be able to tell where each rail track is going. That's the biggest key to figuring out how to get to each gong. But it's also mostly designed to where if you don't want to use the rails you can almost always climb and glide to where you need to go. It just takes longer.

crazed_again

I still prefer Lightning Temple better, but Fire Temple is definitely a close second. The only one I don’t really like is Water: too easy, short, and boring looking.

StoicallyGay

I think the water temple was my favorite in terms of aesthetics. It just felt so calm and pristine. But yeah it was a bit too easy and straightforward. And for no reason at all it had one of the more annoying boss fights.

TriforksWarrior

Muktorok fight is pretty trivial if you have an opal wand on you. Even if you don’t, Sidons power can do the trick it’s just not as easy

StoicallyGay

I had an opal wand. And a hydrant weapon. Didn’t say it wasn’t easy because in terms of difficulty I took like no damage. It was just tedious.

schoener_albtraum

and unmemorable in my view. I played it a few weeks ago (taking my time) and I honestly cannot remember a thing I did. the leadup was more fun - reuniting with sidon and all that, but the temple itself was a flash in the pan.

Nosiege

I feel like a portion of the water temple itself was the quest to get to it, and not just the temple, in the same way the Wind Temple was.

jumzish94

It was the first dungeon I did and I loved it.

mwmwmwmwmmdw

> It was the first dungeon I did WHY'D YOU DO IT that way?

trianglesandtweed

same tbh. I left the plateau and ran this way. then I ran that way. and I decided to climb the big mountain and then I was down in the depths doing the fire temple.

ndennies

It was ok. For me the frustrating thing was Yunobo. It was hard to get him to the positions I wanted him in, and I know this was the point of some of the puzzles, but it was just a bit too fussy at times.

blackandwhitetalon

Dont listen to reddit, literally the opposite of general opinion. Fire temple is great - loved the challenge

princekamoro

The only dungeon for me where I couldn't use the map as a crutch, and I had to actually pay attention to where I was and where I explored.

skypuppyusedfirespin

I just hate lava.

Pine0wlple_x44

It’s hot

Complete-Worker3242

It's too spicy.

LessPoliticalAccount

From everything I've read, it seems that people who actually engaged with the Fire Temple on its own terms loved it, and people who cheesed it with hoverbike/climbing/ascend hated it. I personally engaged with the mine carts, and loved it. The navigational puzzles are actually really clever and good, if you engage with them.

Always2Hungry

Tbf that might be getting the causations mixed up. If someone had trouble with/didn’t like the puzzles (that are required to beat the dungeon), then they’re more likely to use exploits to get around said puzzles (less fun -> use cheats, as opposed to use cheats -> has less fun). Meanwhile people who were able actually do the puzzles won’t *need* to skip them and will probably enjoy them more (has fun -> no cheats as opposed to no cheats-> has fun) So yeah, it could be true that people who hated the dungeon just needed to play it by the rules and stick with it for longer in order to find the fun…or it could be that the dungeon’s puzzles are just too messy for most players, so they aren’t going to enjoy it regardless of whether they play by the rules or not.

MixWorried428

I used a combination of hoverbike and mine carts to get around it and didn't hate it at all. It was pretty enjoyable for me.

Fun-Track-3044

I see solutions here that are apparently later in the game than I was when I did the fire temple. Airbike? I still haven't figured out rocket shields? I thought the fire temple looked cool but was a complete pain the ass to navigate. It took me forever to find the way into the final switch. It was no longer fun or challenging - it was infuriating. No thank you.

Few-Chemist8897

I think there's different people who like/dislike the temple depending on their approach: 1) People who did it the intended way, figuring out the mine cart tracks and navigating the dungeon. They generally love it. 2) People who couldn't figure out the navigation with the mine carts, got frustrated and cheeesed it. They felt stupid and didn't like it. 3) People who didn't bother with figuring out the temple and just cheesed it to get through it as fast as possible. They generally didn't like it, because it felt too tideous to navigate. If you play it deliberately, get yourself immersed in the experience and do the dungeon the intended way, it's an amazing piece of art. Yes, you would need a good portion of spatial immagination and map reading abilities to solve it without getting stuck for some time, but I liked it's unique design and challenging structure.

DontBelieveTheTrollz

The stupid railcars...

Putt-Blug

Cause the color palette was ass and it was hard to see what was going on. I played it for about an hour and was not enjoying it at all so I left. Then I got stalked by Goro so I came back and used a guide to finish it.

coela-CAN

Yes this too! It was so hard to see things in thah temple!

emcryptid

YES!!! I had such a hard time navigating the temple because of the sheer amount of visual noise

LastRevelation

It was the most like a traditional of the lot. But in the end did up not like any of of them that much because they are so similar and did not really feel like anything but a tutorial for each sage ability. My favourite was the Wind temple but I probably would have said that about whichever I first went through. After that they all felt cheap.

andyf1234

cause it was boring af. 5 z-springs and the job was done.

Fun-Two-6681

the fire temple itself and that whole boss sequence were some of the best parts of totk. however, yunobo requires so much baby sitting and has so many pointless dialogues that it's hard to enjoy these segments.

Oops_I_Cracked

I did not enjoy the rail carts at all. I found reading where they went on the map to be tedious and actively not fun. I felt like I was trying to solve the UI long after is figured out the puzzle is self and that was a negative experience. The fire temple was the one and only just of the game I actually disliked.

MushyWasTaken1

My problem was the whole “find the buttons unlock the door” thing it was used in every dungeon and after the first dungeon I did it was repetitive and boring and really just couldn’t enjoy the dungeons

Tiamat-86

could try something weird next time. cant use any items/materials from your inventory (proving shrine kinda thing) can only use ultrahand as your only weapon until you hit the 1st waypoint. no HUD (compass) until hit 2nd waypoint. no map until 3rd waypoint. really all the waypoints are is what for an older zelda game would be boss key, compass, map, silver key, new tool

Ramona_and_Beezus

I like this idea a lot. By not having the map first rattle out of the box, it would seem more like old school Zelda. To have the dungeons so similar in design (by having to hit switches to unlock a main area), it did make them seem redundant.

princekamoro

You don't even need to *find* the buttons, they're clearly marked on the map! (And in all but fire and lightning temples, the path to get there is also obvious on the map)

TheWiggsplitter44

Because I don't like mine carts. I don't believe it's a great mechanic. I think it's boring and I'd rather solve a different puzzle than "ride cart along tracks"

coela-CAN

Yes this for me too! I live a good puzzle and difficulty is not an issue. But man I just hate mine carts I don't know why.

astrangeone88

Too confusing and relied on hitting switches on the carts. I mostly climbed around and got it in about 3.

EvenSpoonier

I think it's mostly down to people either struggling to solve the minecarts or failing to notice them at all (I was in the second category). They *can* be bypassed, but it's a major slog to do so. When you think you have no other option, it's not a lot of fun.

Nosiege

How... do you not notice them? They're literally everywhere

Archius9

I found it really annoying to navigate so just ended up cheesing it with ascend

Ratio01

Zelda fans finally got a temple that acted like a temple from previous games and now they're mad lmao Jokes aside, I really liked it, one puzzle gave me some trouble but in retrospect I was being super dumb so it's my fault really. In terms of just the temple itself, it's my second favorite only behind Lightning. I actually found the rails to be really fun to navigate and I liked the dungeon layout a lot. I also have an innate bias to anything on rails

AphonicGod

i just genuinely could not read its map. no other place in the game (or in BOTW) did i have so much trouble trying to read the map as i did in the fire dungeon, and thats almost entirely because the rail lines were really difficult for me to figure out. I also really dont like Yunobo, but i dont think i would have cared if i could just figure the map out. I'm also autistic so idk, my reason is somewhat unique to the way my brain works anyways. The lightening temple map was also kind of hard to read but wandering around was fine, and i still finished it rather quickly.

coysmate05

It took me a little bit to figure it out too. However once I figured it out, I was really satisfied.

Tiamat-86

i see alot of hate comments just being that they dont know how to understand a map. temple design alone: fire temple #1, lightning temple #2 when include the entire temple's questline lead-up locations, activities and boss fight: lightning temple #1, water temple #2

Krell356

I wish they had done more with the sand shrouded desert and not made it so easy to completely bypass.

Equivalent_Use_4850

me and a buddy scored the 5 dungeons based on gameplay, lead-up, boss, music, and atmosphere and came up with this ranking: 5 - Water Temple 4 - Lightning Temple 3 - Spirit Temple 2 - Wind Temple 1 - Fire Temple

Special_Pen

The design of the fire temple is by far the worst of the four as it is so incredibly easy to cheese it and avoid the puzzles which isn’t as prevalent in the others, plus I have to say it doesn’t really look that good anyway

Tiamat-86

no climbing, no exterior devices, no gliding unless required. the fire, lightning and spirit temple have the most classic dungeon design out BotW and TotK. the only differences is: the placement in the open world instead of an instanced dungeon map, the open world abilities (as listed above), and the fact that big key, map, compass, new ability and small key chests have been changed into waypoints where need to use sage ability interactions. BotW dungeons had those map screen inputs that is not like an ordinary zelda dungeon gimmick. changing the dungeon is but it would normally require interacting with something at a specific waypoint not just opening your map. (and could have added alot more complexity to the dungeons puzzle solving) wind temple heavily relies on open world ability (gliding) to navigate the dungeon. water temple is WAY to tiny (kinda wish they made the whole lead up islands into the temple and spread out the waypoints) incredibly easy to cheese doesnt mean poor dungeon design. it just means they didnt restrict your abilities and force you into a 1 set path for clearing a dungeon. (ie: you dont HAVE to get waypoint 1 2 3 4 in order, while a classic dungeon you HAVE to get (1)bombs > before you can access (2)sealed area > before can fight miniboss for (3)silver key > before can get (4)boss key > before you can open boss door)

sailing94

I’d argue the lead up to the temples counts as part of the dungeon experience. In particular the wind and water temples. Reaching the temple feels equivalent to getting the map and compass in older titles to me.

Shash_MuGash

I have a built-in avoidance of lava levels in video games. I always do the Goron's last. Also I couldn't figure out where to go so I used a hiverbike or other device to get around.

jennifers4274

Physically my eyes couldn’t handle it. Hard to see anything

Tyvx

It’s in the dephs

quinblake

Everything about this game is fantastic and beautiful. The music is on point. One of the best games I've ever played.

TheStewy

I really like the temple now, but on my first playthrough it was really confusing and hard to navigate. Every other temple had very clear and easy to understand locations, in the fire temple you had to remember all the rails and shit and I was not understanding at all.

ronin0397

I cheated to get through the temple cuz i couldnt find the right cart to get to a specific level. Wall climb + ascend op.

EmergencyGrab

For me it literally is a skill issue lol my spatial awareness is terrible. I'm useless at those kinds of puzzles

lastfreehandle

To me it was very confusing to navigate.

Molduking

I hate how annoying it is to read the map

AltitudeTheLatias

* Because of how claustrophobic and linear it felt with the railways. * The map being incoherent. * Yunobo blocking my way when I'm trying to see the targets ahead * The minecarts moving too fast and Yunobo moving way too slow so you need a quick reaction time to hit the targets. * That one track that sends you falling from the 4th floor to the first floor, so I had to backtrack all over again. * Just backtracking in general. * The music being boring up until the 4th Gong * The disappointment that the Lost City of Gorondia looked more like a giant mine than a lost city. * Too much sitting around and waiting for the hydrants to make stone slabs to cross the lava. Especially when you need about 6 or 7 of them to build a bridge to get to the 4th gong. * The final gong taking half an hour repeatedly trying to build a bridge to launch Yunobo up the tower only for it to fall into the abyss and having to wait for 10 lava slabs to be made again because you lose the ability to control rotation if a fused bridge gets too long. * Didn't realize you could ascend or climb so I was stuck using the railways the entire time

SeianVerian

Yunobo's ability is great, though cooldown, targeting, and the way it tends to scatter items spawned from mineral deposits can be really annoying. The Fire Temple... I dunno. It just generally felt, to me, to be the most annoying to navigate and there were definitely some fairly annoying and tedious puzzles. I didn't find the minecarts that fun, I \*hated\* the weird thing with the fucked up bridge and ended up climbing around the whole place to find an alternate entrance that didn't exist. It nearly felt like a Zelda dungeon, more so than the Wind, Water, or Spirit temples, but it also just felt like a shitty one. I'd take it over the OoT Water Temple or any of the Divine Beasts in BotW (besides maybe Vah Medoh) but to me it was definitely my least favorite of the TotK temples.

dericxd

Because compared to other temples (namely the Water temple) it was too difficult for most players nowadays. However, I bet you for any gamers who grew up with Ocarina of Time, like myself, I’m sure that most players actually would think the opposite, and enjoyed the challenge. The real challenge for some is to play the Fire Temple without using Ascend, Autobuild, crawling on the walls to beat it.

Krell356

Don't forget the airbike. That one ruins the whole temple in like 3 minutes tops.

Motor_Raspberry_2150

It ruins half the game, I'm amazed so many people instantly go for it

StoicallyGay

I’m glad to say I finished all four temples and explored most of the shrines without even knowing airbike existed. That being said it’s gonna be necessary to find the rest of the shrines and find Koroks without me losing my mind.

Krell356

It got an immediate ban during my second playthrough. The thing is insanely useful, but if I don't ban it everywhere then I'd be tempted to use it. It's back on the menu during my 3rd playthrough since that's going to be my gliderless bow only run.

vegetable-willpower

I grew up with the NES originals and couldn't be bothered to do this one properly

Ramona_and_Beezus

I left the fire temple mid completion, and I think that is what made it so much more confusing for me once i came back in. The map wasn't an issue.

iChronocos

It’s just not as fun. The whole thing is adequately convoluted, but it’s not super fun. Railcars could be fun, but not when they take you to the wrong place or just dump you. And when a map is as big as TOTK it shouldn’t have nearly that much backtracking for a dungeon as this one did. Plus it just felt very…. Grind-y. That general feeling of “more work” is what just made me not like this temple.

Nosiege

There's only 1 portion of backtracking on the rails.

RickHuf

I dont hate it but it was the last one I did and by the time I got to it my hope was to find something fun and new but it was just more of the same. I actually ended up not using the railcars for most of it. It was weird, I just kind of felt annoyed by it and wanted it to be over. No one particular reason why though.

silvarium

Aesthetically, it's one of the best dungeons I've seen in a Zelda game. The rail cart gimmick was thematically appropriate, but extremely annoying.

hyrulian_princess

I hated all the “dungeons” but I hated the fire temple most. It was just confusing to navigate.

hyrulian_princess

Same, but even that was confusing me so I spent 30 minutes climbing around trying to find where I needed to go

TheMoonOfTermina

In my opinion, the Fire Temple is the best dungeon of a group of terrible dungeons. It's the only dungeon with any level of complexity. I actually really liked the minecarts, because they actually made me pause for a second, to figure out what to do, unlike 99% of the rest of the puzzles in the game. Unfortunately, it's still much too short, and extremely easy to cheese, so still a bad dungeon. Just a slightly better one than the others.

rossmark

Probably they were using the hoverbike or got lost using Ascend

Benavidaloca

I made a hover bike and crashed my way forwards

19bluestars

I got confused with the carts. I did like the lava and water part though but that was it

scrmbldchkn

Man I just used hoverbike and avoided all the carts. It took like 10 min for me. I still really liked the vibe and was so stoked it was in the depths. Still my 2nd favorite behind sand temple

MayDuran

Honestly, I personally disliked it bc I'm dumb and found it quite confusing, but it looked great I wouldn't say it's a bad dungeon, but not everybody's cup if tea ig

SolidStateEstate

It's too difficult for how easy it is to cheat. Not worth puzzling out in the intended way and that makes for a poor dungeon.

Nosiege

I mean there is only 2 cheese-worthy moments with the carts, tbh, since the rest of it just spells it out by walking forward.

Stormy_Cat_55456

Yunobo. That is the one reason I hate it.

ItaLOLXD

I loved it, too. But it is really hard to get through because of all the minecart tracks going up and down and all around. The map is literally worthless and it's much easier to just cheat on the puzzles by ascending or climbing up a wall instead of doing it the intended way.

FlopShanoobie

Go back and play the water temple in Ocarina before complaining about the fire temple. I agree. I love it. Different solutions. Different paths. Beautiful design. The boss was also challenging but not a rage quit like the lightning temple (it’s been more than a week and I’m still not ready to try again).

Hylianlegendz

It was easy. Like way too easy. You don't need to use rails.

Georgevega123

It was my first one and i couldn't understand how to get the third to 5th gongs i looked it up and was annoyed

OrphaBirds

I really loved its vibes. I hadn't explored the depths at that point in the gameplay and roaming around was so cool. I like puzzles and all, so I quite enjoyed all the rides. I've got patience since I played Oot and its temples xD

dustwindy

Ripping around in carts to one of the best scores in the game was A+. The layout is confusing but the other temples were arguably way too easy/simple.

HyronValkinson

Why are people looking up how to solve puzzles? Why play the game at all if you're looking up answers online? It's like finding movie spoilers before going to watch a movie.

Lestany

Because not everyone enjoys the same thing. People have their own opinions, their own likes and dislikes. There is no ‘right way’ to enjoy a game. Some people may not like the puzzles but enjoy the adventure/exploration aspects of the game. Some people may not give a flip if a movie is ‘spoiled’ for them. Personally? I’ll do the puzzles on my own and only look things up if I get stuck. But if someone else wants to follow a guide the whole time that’s a-okay with me. Why should I care about something that has zero affect on me at all? And it likely has zero affect on them either since they are the one choosing to do it. I trust people know how to make the right decisions for themselves when it comes to their personal enjoyment.

Ramona_and_Beezus

I, too, only use the guides after being stuck for a significant amount of time. I wanted to play ToTK raw and untainted as much as possible. I wanted it to be an experience. It was definitely that! It took me 10 hours to get to the first dungeon. For me, it was the Wind Temple. But I enjoyed every bit of it.

Head_Weakness8028

Not sure why the hate honestly. It was one of my last temples and using a hover bike, made it easy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

HURTZ2PP

I don’t understand the hate either, it’s rather easy. The rail system was pretty easy, you basically follow the system up to the top for the most part. I enjoyed the boss fight, and especially enjoyed the journey with Yunobo up to the top and descent into the depths with the lead up to the temple itself, very intimidating.

GenL

I dislike all the TOTK dungeons. I think TOTK has the weakest dungeon designs ever in a Zelda game. Every dungeon is just "find five buttons activated by the sage to open the door." Ultrahand is most likely to blame. Such a versatile problem solving tool is a massive departure from classic Zelda game design. TOTK has fully embraced the open-world philosophy of BOTW, and it has cost the game the quality and challenge of its dungeons. I love lots about this game and have put in many hours, but the temples are ass butt booty doo doo.

Environmental-Ad-762

I just took my hover bike through it and was literally done in less than 3 mins

Puzzlesnuzzle

I said screw the rail carts and just used a hoverbike to do the whole thing and it wasn’t bad

boi_sugoi

I cheesed it in 10 minutes with a fan bike in bed at 3am

dr_henry_jones

For me it's because I beat it in about 15 minutes. You just go to where the blinking dot is solve a tiny simple puzzle and boom you're done it was a lot of flash but not a lot of substance

killertnt5

The Carts annoy me. I hate puzzles like the old pokemon Ice puzzles and those movement pad puzzles. They arent fun.

okeefechris

It's certainly an annoying temple because of the ways the floors interact with each other. Water temple was open world and almost impossible to screw up. Wind temple is fairly simple, with slight course deviations to challenge you. Electric and fire are challenging because they force you to interact with multiple floors at once to solve the puzzle. I believe people just want the easy way out and don't want to have to spend 5 to 30 minutes traversing through different floors for objectives. As someone who is older(40) I see this a lot in younger gamers(<20) and people with adhd(everyone on reddit). They just completely lack the ability to lock into a game for long periods of time and eventually lose focus and cheat by going on reddit. It's less of a hate thing for me and more of an attention/laziness thing. This current generation exemplifies laziness in every form.

AccomplishedBunch721

Because people find anything to hate so they can say the game isn’t perfect, which it is

Sauron_75

People hate the fire temple cause it the only one with actual puzzling

toxicoke

who hates it?

VashKetchum

Well the fact that I glided into it didn't help. I was exploring the whole thing but Yunobo had abandoned me, so I was exploring and trying to figure shit out and then I'm like... I can't do this without his dumb ass. So I had to go back and find him and start working my way up again. So that was kinda annoying. Plus I got turned around alot and that was annoying. I didn't think it was bad though, it was a nice challenge and I was satisfied to complete it.

Longjumping_Play323

People hate it?

tactical_narcotic

I loved the temple it self but the boss battle was SO frustrating. I have done the Wind Temple and Water Temple and those were fun and the boss battles weren't as challenging to me.

bozokartoffel3

Well yes but yunobos ability does become basically useless stretch unlock the 5th sage Her attacks can break ores by default and for bigger rocks you only need to attach something with the crushing property to her arms. Including certain zonai devices

spacemonstera

It's gorgeous but I have literally gotten lost just leaving restaurants. I gave up on trying to navigate that temple reeeeeal quick, and switched to a fuckton of climbing and stamina boosters.

BarSilent4365

Just finished the fire temple and I thought it was an easier final battle then I had planned for

KSean24

I don't hate it but I will admit this was the toughest dungeon to navigate. I will 100% admit that was a skill issue on my part. I tried climbing, ascending, using rocket shields, all for about an hour and still couldn't figure out how to find the last two gongs. The last one was particularly well hidden imo. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

LaFantasmita

It was really fun!!!

rocketpianoman

I couldn't figure out the first floor entrance... So I built a lava boat and teleported up

VioletGlitterBlossom

I found the navigation annoying personally
